Mandolin-virtuosi Avi Avital performs Vivaldi's Mandolin Concerto In C Major from his stunning new album "Vivaldi".
Avi Avital re-imagines the sounds of Venice in this vivid homage to the most beloved composer of the Italian Baroque, Antonio Vivaldi. On this album Avi presents four popular Vivaldi concerti with the great Venice Baroque Orchestra, interspersed with an authentic, 18th Century Venetian Gondolier song, performed by Juan Diego Flórez, as well as the Trio Sonata in C major with Mahan Esfahani and Ophira Zakai

How can a short 8 minutes of bliss be so thoughtlessly interrupted by an ad which no one is going to watch because they are so pissed off by the interruption? Is nothing sacred anymore?
I've thought that very thing. TH-cam's audience targeting is designed as a one-size-fits-all for a world in which Vivaldi and those who listen to him do not exist.

... It feels like the orchestra has a hard time playing with Avi. He's unpredictable and more emotional that really sticking to the time notations and phrasings. Hard to predict for the other musicians when they have to play
Vivaldi had either jewish blood or Avi knows something about Vivaldi that we don't know..

yeh, when you really understand vivaldi... you're basically looking at the best rock guitarist and composer in the universe (before rock n roll was even invented): what I mean is... Vivaldi understood the exciting potential of stringed instruments. If he was alive today, I assure you, he'd be in the most famous rock band we have. :) peace. thanks for reading.

J'écoutais ce morceau en 1965 environ, j'avais 14 ou 15 ans, au milieu des Beatles et des Stones, avec un ami qui est mort, il y a quelques années. Toujours la même clarté, la même émotion.
I absolutely love this and listen to it often. Avi Avital is an amazing soloist, and the musicians in this recording are as well!

This is made the best possible way. There is no moment in the execution when other instruments prevail over the mandolin sound. Still, you appreciate them to the fullest. Nice coordination and playing!!
Mr. Avital is the first person I turn to when I wish to hear Vivaldi compositions played superbly. There may be others, but the pure joy he expresses in his style is overwhelming.

Yeah, but the cosmos interpretation is much better.
All 3 movements were used in Cosmos.. The middle one was in the scene where Vincenzo rides his motobike at the speed of light and sees his little-big brother age 70 years

Incredible play on the mandolin
I would appreciate lower speed. Technically perfect / but sometimes I could not get rid of a feeling that some computer is just playing notes. Mainly in presto sequences. Like, is it a running competition OR an art describing emotional states and changes common to all human beings?

Beautifully done, and there is great energy amongst the musicians it seems. Now I am interested in buying this album, so a successful video there. Yes, it would have been good to see the instruments being played too. Maybe in the future? Thank you.
Love the melody, of course the live version is cool, inspiring of course since it´s Vivaldi being played... and since I don´t really like pointing out, and if my reading is not wrong, the video credits Concerto in G minor
