You need to react to a song from their first album, L.D. 50. It's a such a good album.
I can appreciate your honesty about the time signatures of the song. I love this song and it’s one of my favorite metal songs and I wish you got the full four minute version because during the breakdown there’s some great drumming that is not on the video here, by Matt, the drummer Mudvayne. I still very much appreciate that you think this is at least a really good song and that you were honest about your insight and feeling about it. It takes guts to really express that not everything about a song is going to catch you in a positive way, but it’s nice and refreshing to see that even despite that you found a lot of things to like about this team.I think you should react to their song determined which I think you would enjoy because it’s very visceral and your face and it’s only about 2 1/2 minutes long and I think you’d appreciate it. Great review and thanks for being on your channel and just giving it to us straight as a razor.

You being a bassist, you should pay more attention to Ryan martinie than the time signature, I know it comes natural for you, but Ryan is a beast of a bassist, I think you would dig some of his work as you hear more.

Your reaction to the time signature 😂😂 it’s crazy because I grew up listening to this song when it came out and I haven’t listened to this song since 2007 and that was always the thing about the song I didn’t like lol was the time signature. I had a feeling you’re gonna say that 😂
The chorus goes pretty hard though 🔥 lol the power of the chorus .. that chorus stuck to my head over all the years

Good call on the time signatures, Dave. Love the song myself, but I've always felt that first verse especially is a little herky-jerky as well. I gotta wonder, tho, if progressive Nu-Metal bands like Mudvayne and Mastodon felt they needed to add such odd flows and transitions to give them a distinctive sound in what was a crowded genre 20 years ago. Anyway, too bad this was the radio version. The album version has a bit more oomph to it. But, hey, at least it was better than your last Mudvayne reaction 🤣 Redemption, YES!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Seems to me the time signatures are an artistic choice they made. They are all excellent musicians and I have a hard time thinking they are just doing it for the sake of doing it. There is a reason they do it and I think it ties into the tone of the song. To me it creates the effect of turmoil and it's meant to be somewhat disorienting. (I'll stand. Not crawling, not falling down.)
I agree with you on the time signatures. Its not smooth. The chorus is the best part of the song.

I get your review. I love most of the music in this song. I’m not a fan of the “soft” vocals. It sounds like they go from metal to chick rock - it throws me off. But I cannot stay away from the Mudvayne BASS. Dude is the father of the “BrBrDeng.”

I think Mudvayne might just not be a band you're going to dig that much despite the 4/5 rating here, other people are listing off other songs to check out and you might enjoy those but I'm going to make a prediction now that you won't. At least their earlier stuff, it's very strange and experimental, which happens to be why I love them but I also recognize that it puts many people off. I'll be following to see if you review them again and if I'm wrong. I enjoyed your review though, very thorough which is refreshing.

Totally agree. Feels like - "we want to play prog - just to be a prog band". Great sound and voice, but like you i feel stressed about the weird changes in time signatures, which really dont fit the song. An absolute no go. I love prog rock and metal - but this is not prog - this is a mess.

Man, Mudvayne has had no luck on your channel thus far. A poor quality first song and this song.. to me personally.. is not one of their best. We need you to check out "fall into sleep" by Mudvayne.. to get a real grasp on what this band actually is.
Most of L.D 50 would find a better home on his channel imo. Better than what he’s listened to so far by Mudvayne for sure.
I may be in the minority here but your comments about time signatures describes this whole album for me. Very disjointed.
