    Great video as always. Most of my questions answered but.... I have tried alcohol ink on a ceramic tile and put resin on top but all the colours ran and virtually disappeared (actually looked more like brusho powder!) if I try this again do I need to seal the tile before adding the resin coat and if so with what? Should I use one of the 2 sealers u used in the video?. It was so disheartening to see something I'd worked on literally fade away in front of my eyes and I want to avoid this happening again. Hope u can help?

    How do you assemble the collage before you pour the resin? Do you leave them loose or tack the pieces in place or fully adhere the yupo to one and other? And what glues do you use(if any)? I’m use to using heavy matt gel to glue my acrylic collages.

    I love the Blending Solution it’s very good on glass and I practice on it’s clear colors are brights. The alcohol makes my Inks muddy and takes away the shine but I spray glossy sealer I use mask’s and gloves and apron just to stay safe with air in the room

    Jane, thanks for the informative video. I'm trying to avoid spending so much money on inks. Could you get away with buying only primary color inks (plus black and white) and then mix them together to produce other colors, like you could with say oil paint? Also, is there a reason you favor Jacquard over Tim Holtz brand?

I tried to look around maybe for someone who asked again not to bother you but couldn't find the question. what do you use to glue the yupo paper pieces on the yupo background piece? a heavy medium like you use for mounting it on wood?and one more questions: how do you get your edges so perfect?do they come out like this once you remove tape? thanks Jane and sorry if questions have been asked before.

    HI Jane! Loved this video and super excited for you book!! Do you use the UV Archival on your pieces before coating with resin? I used Ice Resin the other day on some pieces for earrings and I didn't seal them first and the ink 'bled' a little bit. Wondering if its due to not sealing or the type of resin?

    • @JaneMonteith
      @JaneMonteith  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anthea Fraser Thanks. 😊 Hard to say if it’s the resin, ink or substrate. But I haven’t had any issue with running when using resin over yupo. I don’t always use the uv Archival prior to resin.

      Anthea Fraser ok well probably the substrate then. Did you seal them first? I know people who resin over jewelry and tiles. They spray with Krylon Kamar first to set, then Krylon UV Archival after sprays are dry before applying resin. Do this on a test piece. If it still bleeds then change resins.

    • @JaneMonteith
      @JaneMonteith  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rita Gjefle I prefer Jacquard because of the colour and vibrancy over ranger. There are repeated complaints of running and fading with certain ranger colours over time. I have not tried arteC or spectrum noir yet.

    • @ritagjefle3995
      @ritagjefle3995 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jane Monteith - Thank you. I have experienced some fading problems in the past with a particular brand I was using and that was disappointing. I like the vibrancy of the Piñatas also. It is encouraging to hear they don’t fade. I need to ask this, since I have quite a supply of the brand of ink that faded, when folks have problems with fading, is it mostly with the pinks?

    • @JaneMonteith
      @JaneMonteith  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rita Gjefle I believe the wild plum, raspberry and yes few other pinks are the culprits.

    Im having huge problems getting hold of white alcohol ink in my country...it sells out so quickly. So i searched online how to make alcohol ink at home but i cant find any videos on how to make white alcohol ink.....would it be the same process as making the other colours.....only wondering as its opaque and the other colours arent....would the ingredients (pigment paste and isopropyl alcohol)be the same in the white? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • @JaneMonteith
      @JaneMonteith  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Michaela Sherrell it wouldn’t be the same because the white is pigment based not dye based.

    • @JaneMonteith
      @JaneMonteith  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Michaela Sherrell no not alcohol. It will be clumpy and grainy. Pigment based materials don’t mix well with isopropyl alcohol. You need to use blending solution or extender.

    Thank you. Very informative. The video quality was poor however, even in HD.

    Your video was informative, but the title was all wrong. You barely covered alcohol ink, except to state your favorite brand, or resin. It reads as if you would be actually putting the ink into the resin.

    I was hoping to see you actually apply the resin.
