Hi jane.... fabulous videos you do... it's 4.30 am here in rainy old England, I'm still awake thanks to you! Here's what I like. Your commentaries re. what's needed, choices etc, is succinct yet quickly said. You have a knack of telling us a lot in a short a time as possible - my personal difficulty is, having a mental health illness, I find it hard to concentrate if there are long drawn out vocalisations during demos, where the commentary is dragged out by too many 'err...um...s'. Meaning, the well-meaning commentator is trying to talk us through something whilst getting immersed in the work, and I'd rather they said 'sorry, switching into work-mode now, can't talk!' than continue to TRY to talk whilst actually working. So the audio bits can get (maybe it's just me?) agonising. I find yours well-paced, easier to follow and if you go fast, I have the choice to rewind and listen again. Whereas when we're listening intently for instruction, and up to a minute (yes I have timed it, in sheer disbelief! ) elapses between the start of the sentence and it's actual end, containing the info we need - SCREAM! And even more SCREEEEEAM when commentator has forgotten start of sentence. I know, it must be hard (I'd never dare to do a demo!) --- am just telling you and my fellow fans my Room 101! So for me, I like your pace of describing what we need and find it refreshing. I like your work itself. One question though, from a novice here; when you say you measure half resin into the glass jug, and half 'the other' - well I may just be tired and full of morphine but - what other, please? What liquid is in the 2nd big white container you measure in with the resin? I kept replaying it but somehow can't find it... is it a pouring medium or something please? Keep teaching us, won't you? You are good at it. So thank you.

Hi Jane, must stop watching your wonderful videos and take the plunge to do the wooden panels with yupo and resin coating. No questions as l have read all the comments below and you have generously answered any that l may have asked. Many thanks for the great videos you put up . You have inspired me to do the panels, previously used resin on tile coasters so not afraid to use it. The set up process is most helpful so l am digging out some old canvas art and all the bits and pieces l need for that part. Had to travel to another town for the Golden GAC but now have all the things l need to start. Many thanks again

I'm so glad I found you on here! Your work is amazing and I'm so appreciative of the tricks and recommendations regarding the resin! I have run into the exact same thing about the edges running down the sides! Also for some reason, my pieces have remained gooey. Maybe I didn't have the mix right. Would I be able to do another layer of resin to fix that? I'll email you the pieces I'm talking about to see if you can help me fix them!

I am such a freak about exact measurements that I use a small kitchen scale.
My years of baking have made me realize precision is crucial.

  • @mjrewerts
    @mjrewerts 5 ปีที่แล้ว

I use a clear plastic cup big enough for the resin amount I want to mix. I use water in the cup and mark it half way with a Fine Sharpie, add the rest of the water to complete the amount I need and use the Sharpie to mark it. Using this method means I don’t have to ruin my measuring cup. I can either wipe the cup out good after resining and reuse it, or throw it away.

Hi Jane - thanks so much for your videos - they have taught me so much. I happen to work with resin quite a bit for jewellery making so you might want to try letting your resin sit for about 5-8 minutes after mixing and a lot of the bubbles will rise and disappear on their own. Since your resin has a 45 minute "pot" time you should be ok before you pour. :-)

I use the parchemin (baking paper) too 👌 :) unfortunately, the problem I struggle with the most is the tiny bubbles :( I use the torch and the resin seems flawless and yet here they are, once all seems perfect and the piece is already dry. Are your resin layers totally perfect or there are some minor flaws on the surface? Great videos, by the way ❤️❤️❤️👍😊

Thank you Jane for every single wonderful video you have taken time to share with us! I have watched and love each one! I have tried the resin experience four times. The finish was beautiful and successful but Last time the new wide blue painter's tape I used did not work. My sides were ruined and the resin seeped through. It cost a fortune to frame but salvageable! Is your green tape from Canada? I didn't ever see the tape in your list of products but maybe it was there. Thanks. All tapes are NOT created equal!!!

    Hi Jane!
I’m assuming these are collage pieces cut from different paintings on Yupo?
Do you have to color or treat the edges of the cut out parts on the top layer to keep the white from showing, or is the Yupo thin enough that it’s not necessary.
    Thanks for the great videos!

Hi Jane, Thank you for the great video. I was wondering what would happen if I added some other material paper on top o the alcohol inked yuppo, kind of like a collage, and then tried to resin it? would there be an issue with resining it, considering that there will be a bit of uneven surface due to the paper collage pieces on top of the yuppo? will I still get a smooth and even resined surface? if not, what are you recommendations for adding art or lettering on top of yuppo from other material and then resining it? thank you so much.

Thanks for a great video! How do you clean the glass container? I would NOT want to use plastic and throw that out into the landfill. Please let us know how to clean the glass container, I bet you need to do that within the allotted 45 min.?

Great video....have never used resin....not sure if I will or not...but very interesting......is resin expensive to use on artwork? What do you figure it costs to do one of your pieces you show in your video here with resin?

Hi Josie! Thank you for all your wonderful tutorials, you are so generous and talented! Can u please let me know the brand of painters tape you use? I purchased frog brand Painters tape and when resin touches it , it just slides off! I used Blue before and it was ok, just wanted to use the kind you do since you have such a flawless finish

Hi Jane! I know that you made this video over a year ago, but I just watched it. I love your work and you explain things so well. I would like to know how and what you use to cut the round full circles and thin circles on the yupo paper. And, what do you use to glue them on the background. I tried cutting out the thin circles out of the yupo paper like you but they didn't turn out as nice as yours. Thank you so much.

Do you ever torch your resin in your measuring cup prior to pouring. I have heard this helps to decrease the bubbles. Of course you will still need to torch after the pour. Great video.....thanks.

did you treat the paintings with anything before the resin? like before you mounted them to the wood panel?
