BUT... on the things like glassware and bowls etc, I bake them in the oven and wait two weeks before use, and I do not spray them. Does the spray really truly last on the bowls with light hand washing? Do you know? I’m asking, probably knowing you won’t answer, since you have not replied to any of the other comments. Is that because you are selling them?

Jane, your video tutorials are just wonderful! Quick question-is there a trick to keeping the Kamar varnish from making the ink bleed when you spray it? It didn’t cause bleeding when I used it on inked glass, but it did on inked ceramics. Any advice is most welcome-thank you!

I saw her respond before and they are meant to be decorative. I think if you put a food safe resin on they could be. Like art resin. I used ink in a large white bowl. I figure that the inside is safe enough for popcorn.

Thanks for the video, Jane. I just did your ink course and found it very useful, and this technique is another good one to have in my pocket. TWO QUESTIONS. 1) why both the Kamar varnish and the UV Archival? Wouldn't just the UV Archival be fine? Are you using both varnishes for all substrates? and 2) are there any special notes you would give for using the crackle technique on Yupo paper?
Bill Weye Thanks for taking the course. Glad you enjoyed it. With regards to the sprays you can certainly try just the uv Archival however the reason people use it first is to prevent bleeding when spraying the UV. The Kamar essentially seals and locks the inks in place. The crackle technique works great on yupo and is easy to do. You can just ink the yupo first and then cover with the cling wrap.

you could always just use good old masking tape around the edge of the bowl, turn it upside down, and then you'll be good to go. I love masking tape!

gabriela etchepare golden doesn’t make alcohol inks. They make acrylic inks which are not the same. But you can still attempt the same effect. :-)
Do you share alternative products to Saran Wrap and Kamar Varnish in your book? We cannot import the latter as it my not be in a plane.
