    Awesome ideas! I'm off to Walmart to find some ceramics :) A couple of questions though - after the pieces are sealed how can they be used? Are they safe to use as say cereal bowls? Should they be hand washed? Do they ever need to be resealed? Many thanks!

    Jane are these bowls useable for food after treating with the varnishes? And are they dishwasher safe? Thanks in advance.

    Like many others, I am wondering how you seal the lip of the bowl/glass. i'm assuming that these are food safe but would like to know that for sre. thanks

    Oh my gosh, I Love this idea.
    I just recently came across this art, so I'm hoping this isn't a stupid question.
    Question: I might have missed it, are these vases or drinking tumbles. Are you able to drink out of them with the sealers on? Can you drink out of an item after applying a resin?

      you could always just use good old masking tape around the edge of the bowl, turn it upside down, and then you'll be good to go. I love masking tape!

    Okay, lovely work, I do like the techniques very much. I, too, spray the sealers on my alcohol ink works.
    BUT... on the things like glassware and bowls etc, I bake them in the oven and wait two weeks before use, and I do not spray them.
    Does the spray really truly last on the bowls with light hand washing? Do you know?
    I’m asking, probably knowing you won’t answer, since you have not replied to any of the other comments.
    Is that because you are selling them?

    Hi. I tried this & it turned out 'ok.' Lol. On a clear vase, & I missed a bit - it's shaped like fat bottom, skinny neck, with tapers out wider, so a small problem wrapping. And I got a bare bit. Would you go over it, or clean off & try again, please?

    I was told to bake my glass after I inked them. Is that right? I can't find anything about it. Everything I see has the sprays. I've also heard that when you pour hot liquid in you can smell the spray and that's why they baked it. What's the right way please?

  • @BillWeye
    @BillWeye 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the video, Jane. I just did your ink course and found it very useful, and this technique is another good one to have in my pocket. TWO QUESTIONS. 1) why both the Kamar varnish and the UV Archival? Wouldn't just the UV Archival be fine? Are you using both varnishes for all substrates? and 2) are there any special notes you would give for using the crackle technique on Yupo paper?

    • @JaneMonteith
      @JaneMonteith  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bill Weye Thanks for taking the course. Glad you enjoyed it. With regards to the sprays you can certainly try just the uv Archival however the reason people use it first is to prevent bleeding when spraying the UV. The Kamar essentially seals and locks the inks in place. The crackle technique works great on yupo and is easy to do. You can just ink the yupo first and then cover with the cling wrap.
