I was working away 6 day weeks, years ago. I came home one weekend to find my wife was having an affair and i was no longer a home owner with 3 kids, i was now homeless. My world was shattered and my wife had emptied the bank account. i had nothing left to live or work for, i went from a man who had never been out of work in my life to someone who didnt want to live. I lost my job, my children and my home. never judge anyone in this life, my mother died months later and i just gave up. Today i am older and have a good life but i would never walk past anyone homeless and judge.

Never find it easy to watch these homeless documentaries since it embodies so much of what I see as my worst nightmare, to lose everything. But since it's you, I finally watched it after about a month of self-convincing. You have inspired me to do more to help and to be careful not to let my own vices destroy my family (which has been very close to happening over the last few years). Thanks for this, you should be very proud of what you've done and good luck in the future.

EXACTLY! Why are we judging each other! Absolute disgrace and tragic that homeless people line our streets ...... Capitalism is certainly not the way forward.......nor is it the way forward to negatively judge and look down on others.
All of us should reach out to our fellow human at all times as should the system under which we live.
Lets hope and pray that the struggles facing others is lessened sooner than later.

Swazer Swazers yep I’ve been thinking that myself.
Just had a general election - the fact that foodbanks are everywhere and just accepted given the wealth of this country just astonishes me.
the fact that we have the ‘working poor’ as standard - they can go to a foodbank if their billion dollar corporation employer doesn’t pay them enough though so it’s ok. Big society. Wtf is going on.
      Brutal country this is.

I grew up in Scotland and watching that has broke my heart, I'm based in London now been here for 32 years and the homelessness has got so much worse, I don't understand how it's got like this. If I could help every single homeless person I would. Thank you so much for this amazing documentary James its been enlightening to say the least, I thought I had it bad the last few days well you've just put everything into perspective. OMG what a powerful venture. I havent been able to cry for a long time James but I am bawling at this. I have always been an advocate for animals that are abandoned, mistreated and abused. I volunteered for many years at the Humane Society and took my 3 children every xmas morn to volunteer at the animal shelter before coming home to a nice breakfast and gifts. They learned a lot from those experiences and then many years later my eldest son found a homeless person for each of us and gifted them with $25 worth of non-perishable food items, asked permission to take their picture and enclosed it in a xmas card to each of us with an explanation of that persons story. It was such a loving gesture and though not as intense as your journey it still remains forever in my heart. You are a dearheart James and I send all of my very best from Canada to you and yours. Biggest hugs.

Appreciation from China, sir. When I went to Oxford last year, it was the first and only time I've been to the UK. And I was shocked that there were such a lot of homeless people. But I've never imagined how tough their lives were. I feel ashamed that I'm not able to empathize them, but at the same time this film made me appreciate everything I have at present. Thank you for this documentary. Best wishes.

I was only there for 2 weeks but the Chinese appeared to be so sociable caring and supportive of one another and foreigners like me :))) and seem willing to do any job to make a living. I'm watching this on Christmas night...moved to tears. So much pain & heartbreak in our world. I was married 21 years and raised 5 incredible, loving, hard-working & compassionate children. 13 years after divorce I'm jobless for 11 months and if not for the kindness of a friend that offered a roof my youngest son (19) & I are homeless. I've experienced age discrimination..applied for 400 jobs and not 1 offer in almost a year. Have health issues now that cause me pain 24/7 but have not been approved for disability. What do people do when they fall through the cracks like I have...no resources available...no help..its scary & very disheartening. God Bless you for making this documentary. We can ALL help. Donate, volunteer at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter, just show some compassion to our fellow human beings.

I'm actually getting angry watching this at the lack of compassion shown by my home people of Glasgow. I understand we all have shit going on but it takes nothing to stop and talk. They are still people, mothers, father son's and daughters not some kind of trash. I have always taught my son not to be negative towards homeless people as we don't know why they are there, he is 6 and shows more caring towards people on the streets than most adults. We already drop some coin in, but the next time I am back down the road, I will make a point of buying them a bag of various items. This is one of the best " on the street docs " I have had the pleasure and also heartbreak of watching.

Wow,...what an amazing thing to do.
As a Glawegian, this film has not only been eye-opening but absolutely heartbreaking to watch. Im ashamed that I have been one of those people that have walked past a homeless person without giving them a second thought
This needs to be shared to as many of us as possible. After seeing the difference that taking five mins out of your day to ask someone how they are or if you can buy them something to eat or even a hot drink etc can make, I will definitely make an effort to do this from now on.

Aye I'm guilty of it myself. I'm down south working away from home and after watching this I seen a young man sitting in a shop close so I went over and asked if he was ok and gave him a tenner. Afterwards I thought bet he buys a tenner bag with that. Then seen him afterwards he shouted over eating a takeaway drinking a cola or whatever out a straw giving me the thumbs up. I felt good but felt really bad for thinking the worse of the lad. I'm going 2 keep my eyes open for this kid and hope he finds a way out of his situation.

I’ve just come back here as I remember watching this years ago. Life has been unfortunate for the last year for me and I have found myself homeless. This will be my first Christmas homeless and I am trying to mentally prepare myself. James has helped me mentally so much this year and even DM’d me on Instagram once. He really is a good man and he spreads awareness on things that matter. If this doesn’t prove that to you I don’t know what will. I don’t drink or do drugs. Not everyone that’s homeless is a drug user. If you see someone homeless this Christmas, be kind. Even a conversation can warm you up sometimes. Especially inside. You don’t always need to give money. God bless everyone. And Merry Christmas 2024.

Great thought provoking video thankyou fella. I was never homeless but used to street drink and hang around with plenty. Even met a homeless welsh couple in sheffield once as we walked home from a club and invited them to stay in a spare room in my flat, they stayed there for a couple of months, that was in the early 90s. Im comfortable but only a couple of bills away from being homeless, most people dont understand how close most people can be to being homeless

I remember when we were younger, in our local town, we got friendly with a select few (5-6) I was a manager of a domino’s pizza store. I used to make 5-10 XL pizzas ready for them to share out. The building next door was a day centre. So it was welcome by the residents. I often wonder about their story. But didn’t wanna pry. Fantastic watch and really pulls at the heartstrings.

    can i tell a story?
i am 17 years old and have a dream to go into the computing field. This has been an ambition for me for all my life. I was born with Autism, ADHD and Asperges syndrome and i look at every day being a curse for me with this condition. watching this documentary, i notice my life isn't even a quarter as bad as these amazing people we as a community look down on. I cant believe this hasn't gone viral. It should as we all need to make a change in our view of others. As i sit here with college assignments that need doing, i notice that i could do so much more with my life. My dream is to get an amazing job, get a girlfriend that i love, settle down, have a family and a good life. Some of these people who live on the streets may have had these experiences but then lost their way due to alcohol or drugs. And once again, sitting here, im going round scenarios in my head of how i could change this. Getting the job i love and providing and caring for my family, or getting the job i love, living with my family a normal life but also working on projects to save these souls from the cold pavements. So far i have come up with scenarios where local councils shut down the shops/businesses and the roads for one day and all people homeless gather in one area and not just a couple here and there on the corners of streets, and where someone hires a news helicopter to come and report the amount that they can see from the sky, to see all these people in need and share it on the news for once instead of reporting all the occasional murders here and there or events going on in the world when there are so many other people in need closer than they will ever realize. My vision is to see this event happen in every town in a country or city (which i know is a long shot) so we can all see what people were like before hand and acknowledge and recognize these beautiful people.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

don't assume its always alcohol and drugs, having a disability is all it takes sometimes or a housing bubble crash or losing your job or someone you love. Having lived it I observed, most turn to drugs and alcohol to ease the pain of their situation and become addicted, perpetuating the problem. The only reason that didn't happen to me = my disability dystonia, I cant drink alcohol or do any hard drugs because it makes my dystonia worse and more painful. I do use marijuana, it helps with my pain and reduces my dystonic storms. its ironic how most people with disabilities work harder than normal people who take what they have for granted. never give up.

I think this should be put out in to the mainstream to show the real harsh realities of what life can become .
