As an East Tennessee resident and avid fisherman of the ocoee and hiwassee, you are definitely my favorite fishing channel on TH-cam. Thanks so much for the entertaining and educational content! I had no idea that there were croppie in the hiwassee!!!
Good day of fishing! I used to end up in the water almost every time I went fishing! I can't count the number of times I've filled my waders over the years!
Smallmouth bass are the most fun fish to catch. I used to catch so many bass in the day that my thumb would be completely ripped up from holding them from the lip. Grew up on lake winnipesaukee in NH.
Going through and watching all your videos while at work.......Its just mind blowing all the different places you fish that I drive past on a daily basis, or fish in the general area. I keep hearing about these Nikko's, I may have to get some to try out.
Congratulations on that awesome beautiful small mouth I love Creek Fishing almost more than anything in the world so when I can't go at least I got your videos to watch keep up the good work God bless time to Oklahoma I love to show you some pretty Creeks like that also
Lay the fish along your fishing rod and take a pic to remember it's length. Then measure that length on your rod with a tape measure when you get back to your truck.
J Mash, I take a permanent sharpie marker a start at the reel base marking first mark at one ft. Then in marks from there out to 24 in. First started doing that many years back. Saw it in an old Field and Stream magazine.
I had forgotten about finding other people's lures on branches even in trees if i could get them. Good times. Slow jigging will make you very happy there.. Just let the hook show a little and toss it where its scary to get snagged. Thats where the hogs are. 👍👍 love it
Smallmouth Bass ♥ Hellgrammites........I live near the Uwharrie River in North Carolina about an hour drive and it's loaded with Smallmouth , Largemouth, Crappie, Bream, Catfish and Gar and maybe some Bowfin. I'm definitely going to stock up on some Hellgrammite lures from the local Bass Pro Shop. Thanks for sharing the video.
Just found your channel today, love your videos, reminds me of creek and river fishing back home in the mountains of NC. Live in the flatland of Nashville Tn now and miss river fishing like that.
I've fished alot of small rivers and creeks all over east TN.The Hiwassee has more poisonous snakes than anywhere I've ever fished. But the fishing is great.
As from what I seen from the vids bro, you can never EVER go wrong with the hellgramite I've been procrastinating for months but I seriously need to order from Nikko
The Hiwassee River is such a great river to fish . I'ed love too fish there sometime. No wonder you fish there so much. That Smallmouth was a monster ! Nice going John. Be careful out there . Tom Daytona Beach, FL.
Largest smallmouth I ever landed was 20 1/2" on a crankbait, probably a Rapala minnow if I remember correctly. Yours was definitely a nice fish. Thanks for not editing out the slip and slide into the water, joining the ranks of us who have ended up wet (lol).
Nice small mouth man... me and my nephew fished lost creek and a little below the powerhouse on the 5th. We just missed you. We ended up with a couple small trout and a bunch of pan fish. Looks like I need to get some hellgrammites...lol...thank you for all you do creating videos for us.
I used to catch live hellgramites as a kid and catch fish all day on the river. I'll definitely get some of those you have, looks like the real thing! Nice smallie, wish you had a scale and tape measure!
i have a better setup for wading now, a small shoulder pack with small scale and tape measure in it. i want to catch some live hellgrammites some time but for now the nikko ones are really tough
Oh man! I was starting to have withdrawals wondering when you were gonna put up another video! Haha! Very nice fish brother. I caught a 2 pounder earlier this spring. (Of course I didn’t have the camera) Keep it up man! I really appreciate what you do.
sweet smallie i just got 7 bags of these lures have not been out to the river yet its way to flooded. bummer but i know when it goes back to green and goes back to norm im gonna be there in early am trying to get me some toads im gonna use a jighead and first im gonna drift em under a weighted bobber about 3 feet below it
My local Angling Club and all of the Carp Lakes in my area of the UK only allow barbless hooks and we,re pretty limited to their size too.(Size 8 Barbless Max) This can cause problems with landing bigger fish. An angling buddy of mine has got me into Pole fishing now the times I'm well enough to go.😊
Good choice of rods. I have two of the q-ray combos for creek fishing and I just ordered some of the Hellgrammites to try out in some of the creeks I fish in Ohio. This creek looks very similar and I'd love to try it out. Do you know approximately how far from Washington DC it is. I am currently stationed here.
thats awesome, i have not caught as many fish with the hellgrammites since the water cooled down, but i havent used them as much. they were definitly catching me a bunch of fish in the summer. im about 8 hours away. this river comes out of the mountains and is awesome to fish
Do you ever fish the Tuckasegee River l caught some nice small mouth and Rainbows there. There are also giant salamanders there.I caught one with my hands.
Was that a "coppertruce" Zman trd? One of my favorite colors! I've been to that dam before, beautiful country. Stopped by the Reliance Fly Shop while there. Nice little store. That was one chunky Smallie.
I laughed real hard when you set your pole down in the water while handling your fish. I realize you already fell down and it went in the water, but still funny that you did that. I cringe exceedingly if my fishing reel gets submerged.
You should mark the base of your rod, above the reel 1" - 15" that way you can quickly see the length of some of these w/o having to have a tape and extra hand :) Painted in notches works well.
Got to admit, that slow-mo replay of you losing that fishing and hollering in defeat reminded me of the ABC Sports promo where they showed the downhill skier wiping out....I think they called it the "Agony of defeat!!!" LOL.....
@@CreekFishingAdventures your videos are fun to watch bro, and your fish are definitely getting bigger. but the small fish are fun to watch as well. i just started my channel and I've learned a bunch from how you make the videos interesting. especialy to falls LOL. keep up the good work.
That place is eat up with snakes! I fish big bend in the early mornings when the waters down. I generally catch trout, but occasionally a smallmouth. We did good up on gunstocker. Red eyes and largemouth were plentiful as were bluegill.
Caught a fat 16 inch smallmouth couple days ago; thing weighed 2.1 pounds. Getting ready to go trout fishing in the Black Hills from a kayak, so it’ll be interesting.
FYI- Largemouth LOVE chubs, sometimes I catch them on worms and put them on a medium hook through the nose and a bobber and bass will usually smoke them really fast
I love that location ....that river looks great! I'm in Michigan in the early summer after bass spawn, I use a Whopper Plopper in 90 size Perch or Goldish color. You should try one it's a blast! They hammer shallow water smallmouth's. Check out ND Yak angler on the tube, he uses one alot. Man that's a great river Bass, Trout, awesome...wish I was fishing with you! Good luck!
Great catch ! I love how you had to wrestle that beautiful fish in. I’ve never caught a freshwater fish that fights pound for pound better than a small mouth. You really seem to love those bronze backs. Have you ever thought of a trip to the Ozarks for small mouths . In my thirties I took a two week trip by myself and wade fished some streams there. It was the best and most abundant smallmouth fishing I’ve ever done. James river outside of Springfield , Mo. Spring river by Hardy Ark. , and it’s tributaries, 11 points, and others. But my favorite was the Stawberry river in the middle of the Arkansas Ozarks. At the time it was still remote and loaded with smallies. I don’t know what it is but the area has got more of two things than I’ve seen anywhere . Small mouth bass and rabbits. Seemed like every other brush pile had a rabbit in it.
always heard that place was eat up with snakes , and you have confirmed it. when they start falling out of trees , im gone . i really wish i wasen;t that way , but i am.
Nice size fish, on a different note I stopped using finesse hooks for wacky and neko rigs. I went back to using wide gap hooks usually a 2/0, I seem to get better hookups I think it’s because the wide gap hook is narrow compared to the finesse
I really like your channel and would love to link up with you to do some fishing. I got my TN lifetime hunting and fishing license a few years ago. I'm from the other side of the state though in Clarksville. Would you be interested in doing some fishing together?
I was so happy to land that one, now I really want to go back for more, I just ordered 2 packs from there website. Nikko Fishing. there expensive but I was very impressed on the quality and durability
Love your scriptures thank you. Fishing is always fun and Congratulations on the big one.
The fact that you didn't edit out your fall cements the fact this is the best fishing channel on YT

they are pricey but you cant beat the quality, plus they have a ton of small trout lures
Congratulations on that awesome beautiful small mouth I love Creek Fishing almost more than anything in the world so when I can't go at least I got your videos to watch keep up the good work God bless time to Oklahoma I love to show you some pretty Creeks like that also
Put that creek chub on a big hook and toss it into the first relatively deep hole you find. Smallies love creek chubs! 🎣
Great video as always.
Lay the fish along your fishing rod and take a pic to remember it's length. Then measure that length on your rod with a tape measure when you get back to your truck.
Thanks. I was going to say the same thing.
The old professor
J Mash, I take a permanent sharpie marker a start at the reel base marking first mark at one ft. Then in marks from there out to 24 in. First started doing that many years back. Saw it in an old Field and Stream magazine.
I use the length of my pinky finger to my thumb. 10 inches. Kind of do a rough estimate.
Looks like the Nikki hellgrammite is a go to bait. Plus, I’m glad to see your day turn around. It fun when your bite is on.
I had forgotten about finding other people's lures on branches even in trees if i could get them. Good times. Slow jigging will make you very happy there.. Just let the hook show a little and toss it where its scary to get snagged. Thats where the hogs are. 👍👍 love it

That lure really produces!! Hellgromite Nice bass!
Beautiful Smallmouth John!
2:00 The big splash. I thought you hooked a big fish. This place reminded me of a place in Tasmania Australia.

thanks, yes I love the mountain rivers

Nice smallie! I caught a nice 3.38lb one a couple days ago. They get big in the River I fish!

Makes me wish I lived around your area.
we do have a lot of nice places around

And that was a great looking fish! Congrats!
oh yah, I have been showing everybody I know
Awesome video!!! Nice smallmouth!! And nice crappie!!!
thanks, I was definitely happy
Berkley products has a stick on ruler that you can put on your rods just in case you forgot to bring one with you. Larry
now that just makes too much sense, i will have to get a couple of those
I’ve seen a tattoo of a measuring tape on someone’s shin.

I have seen the signs for lost creek but never went there, is there a lot of fish in it?
Yeah it holds a lot of fish. It's a nice place to fish. You should try it sometime.
ok thanks I will add it to my list

Nice day fishing...you tore up those crappie...nice smallie
thanks it started off slow but heated up fast
Great job on the big boy! Way to wear him down, that was all skill.

sounds good, hope you catch a big one. Let me know how it goes

thanks it was fun

wow thats some strict rules

no i havent, i will have to check it out
In the UK chub can average bigger than smallmouth, with 4 and 5 pounders commonly caught.
wow thats a big chub
Was that a "coppertruce" Zman trd? One of my favorite colors! I've been to that dam before, beautiful country. Stopped by the Reliance Fly Shop while there. Nice little store. That was one chunky Smallie.
just fished here last weekend and caught a nice smallie, hope to have a video on that next week. that area is so nice
I laughed real hard when you set your pole down in the water while handling your fish. I realize you already fell down and it went in the water, but still funny that you did that. I cringe exceedingly if my fishing reel gets submerged.
like your fishing, hello from bosnia and hercegovina :)
We’re you fishing above or below the Appalachia powerhouse?
above
You should mark the base of your rod, above the reel 1" - 15" that way you can quickly see the length of some of these w/o having to have a tape and extra hand :) Painted in notches works well.

Hey that looked like a nice trip 🤣 congrats on your new smallmouth PB thats awesome.
THANKS IT WAS A BLAST
Nice Small jaws!!!!!!!!!!!! Whooooo
I have only started catching smallmouth a few years ago, it’s really exciting when they hit

My favorite lure is the Hellgrammite
Have you ever fished for striper up there? I caught one about 15lbs last summer, definitely plan on going back again this year to try again.
i tried some last year from the bank but it didnt go well, i really want to get one this year
@@CreekFishingAdventures I'm game!
That place is eat up with snakes! I fish big bend in the early mornings when the waters down. I generally catch trout, but occasionally a smallmouth. We did good up on gunstocker. Red eyes and largemouth were plentiful as were bluegill.
yah im always on the lookout for snakes but only saw one this time. that's cool, I want to try to fish it this summer

I haven’t been able to get back here yet this year, hopefully soon to get a bigger one
FYI- Largemouth LOVE chubs, sometimes I catch them on worms and put them on a medium hook through the nose and a bobber and bass will usually smoke them really fast
i have caught a few that way, i need try some more
Lol slipping in the creek priceless been there done that always a good time though
I am binging your videos - they are fantastic. What size hook do you use with the hellgramite? Any issues with snagging it?
yes i do get snagged using the ned rig jig head with open hook but i feel like i hook more fish. around 1/16 to 1/8 oz
Nice catch man
thanks, I was so glad to get that one in

Yah I have watched a lot of his channel. I don’t use top water much but going to try some this year
Olá qual o nome dessa isca que vc está usando ?
Cool spot.
thanks, im lucky to have some nice areas within an hour of where I live
Nice smallie man ...
Remember if you don't have a tape measure a dollar bill is 6 inches long. You can estimate length with that.
The rain will make the water warmer
Is there a certain time they allow you to cross the bridge by the power plant?
I have heard people say it is closed sometimes, I have been there 4 or 5 times the last 2 years and it has always been open
Happy Independence Day America! 🇺🇸🎉🍻🍺🇺🇸
Them Helgramites look neat have you tried texas rigging them?
no, this was my first time using them. I have already ordered some more and will be experimenting with different hooks
Creek Fishing Adventures wouldn't be a bad idea
Might need a sharper hook? Idk
i have been planning to go back there all winter, i think i am going to use a longer heavier pole and a little heavier line
Nice video bro! Ur vids rock 🤘🏻
that's what i like to hear, i appreciate it
Yea man I really enjoy watching your videos keep going man!

Do you not get problems with snakes gators
There are a lot of snakes around here but I haven’t had any problems with them yet
Wassup from the TN Valley
hey, the temperature is up but the fishing is good
Lost my phone doing that already this year falling in the creek
always heard that place was eat up with snakes , and you have confirmed it. when they start falling out of trees , im gone . i really wish i wasen;t that way , but i am.
Should'f used the fishing rod as a reference, that way you could of measured the fish.
Those crappie are good eating.
Nice size fish, on a different note I stopped using finesse hooks for wacky and neko rigs. I went back to using wide gap hooks usually a 2/0, I seem to get better hookups I think it’s because the wide gap hook is narrow compared to the finesse
thanks that's a good suggestion, I might have to try that, I think I missed 3 or 4 fish that I thought were hooked
Everything in the river eats hellgrammies!
im trying to get back there as soon as I can to see what else it will catch
On days like you had today try a small top water bait I think you would do better
be careful on hhe Hiawasee, its got snakes everywhere
احمد
Please be more specific on how you rig your plastics.
First fish was a fall fish
What is your pb large mouth bass
not that big, I caught some nice ones a long time ago but didn't weigh them 3lb 12 oz is the biggest I weighed
Bigger than mine it was 2lbs and will you shout out Austin Johnson in your next video
what if I name a fish after you in my video

i used to live in clarksville, i hardly have time to travel much for fishing so most my fishing is withing 30 minutes of my house
Also donated my share of lures to the crick
I hope you packed that fishing line out. Great fall. #beenthere. (Don't have to handle them by the mouth all the time). Nice smallie. Cardinal calls
3:45
I think that's one of those freshwater tarpon. loljk
Can you go out and buy a beetle spin and review it?
yah I need to do that, I don't use them really at all
Creek Fishing Adventures yeah those are my favorite. I buy the ones that have a smaller rubber bait with a chartreuse tail.
That smallie was a pig! I gotta find some of those hellgrammite lures lol
I was so happy to land that one, now I really want to go back for more, I just ordered 2 packs from there website. Nikko Fishing. there expensive but I was very impressed on the quality and durability
If there is one crappie there is more.
Definitely not a 3 pounder lol!
Put 1 inch marks on your rods
2:00 rip
Snakes falling out trees!!? Nope you can keep that spot... lol
this area always makes me nervous, i have seen a ton of snakes here
