    First time I went up striding edge I was 15 at school we were about 50m from the summit and about 8 pupils started crying, I couldn't understand, they were crying because they couldn't breathe we encourage them to the the top and I was really feeling chuffed with my self until I saw a 10 year old kid stood there with his family dressed in trunks flippers mask and snorkel, they had just walked up from ullswater lake 😂👍😎

      There’s been a spate of deaths on striding edge lately, and I don’t feel like people give it the respect it deserves. The dangers of these routes should be made a lot clearer when doing these types of videos, as by masking it or glossing over them, you are potentially encouraging people to go out unprepared ,and to experience conditions that are out of their depth.

    Beautiful video guys, well done. I'll be certain to have a look at your other videos as well, so here's another subscriber.
    I really enjoy watching these hiking videos from all sorts of different people, but the more I've seen the more my feet start itching to head off to the Lake District as well. 😀My fear though is that the journey to and from there will be much more challenging than the actual hiking and scrambling...

    • @KittiandJon
      @KittiandJon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KittiandJon Can't be soon enough if you ask me. Visiting the Lake District has been a dream of mine for years. Never got around to actually doing it for various reasons.
      Coming from mainland Europe it's not exactly a short trip either, and for me to be able to do this alone, a few different mountains have to be conquered first... Ones of the mental variety, lets say. Hehe. 🙄
      But I remain hopeful and those mountains aren't going anywhere in the next few million years. Meanwhile I'm thankful there's a lot of people like yourselves and others who share their adventures. It's a pleasure to watch and also works as a sort of mental preparation if you know what i mean.
      Anyway, hope you guys have many more joyous adventures. Keep those legs going!
      😎
      ----
      Almost forgot to react to the first bit of your message. Can you imagine so many people living 90% of their lives in cramped cities who then spend their vacation on a cramped beach or on an overcrowded campsite?
      No wonder there's so much stress and other mental illness in modern times. People don't connect with nature the way they used to, and that's a shame.

    • @KittiandJon
      @KittiandJon  ปีที่แล้ว

      For the most part they would be fine but there are a couple of small sections as you get towards the summit that might be a bit tricky for them. Trying to think back to when we did it to remember if we saw any dogs but honestly can’t remember! Would definitely advise caution though.

    How hard was striding edge? I’m thinking of going next week, but my fitness is terrible. I’ve climbed Ben Venue and Ben A’an in Scotland. But that was almost a year ago. So any advice?

    • @KittiandJon
      @KittiandJon  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Benjamin 👋 we would definitely suggest a moderate level of fitness for Striding Edge. Most of the trail up is steep to gradual in places but fairly long and then once you are on the ridge it isn't too bad. The last stretch to the top is a little technical and requires some scrambling though. Hope that helps!
