Probably best video and advice on TH-cam.
Did Striding Edge 4 October this year.
Beautiful scenery, just be aware of the surroundings, and, your abilities.
On the descent your legs and feet will ache, absolutely.
Good luck all, and be safe 🙏

I did it for the first time and I'm pretty scared of heights. I found it less scary being high up close to the rocks as opposed to being more exposed on the path. There was always a lot to grab onto so I always felt relatively safe. I would definitely recommend it.

It’s the most beautiful part of England and that is saying something been there 4 or 5 times just came back in October. Not done anything as strenuous as Striding Edge. Did go on a few hikes to waterfalls including a six mile round hike to Stanley Ghyll absolutely (stunning place) in typical Lakes weather strong winds, rain and thick mist.
Since coming back home to Kent I have been totally bitten by the hiking bug and been out and about finding what you could call practice hikes for when I get back to The Lakes.
I love these videos and yours is certainly among the most informative cheers

Plenty of good philosophy and technique here. We all know descent is so much more dangerous, yet I know I tend to go a fraction too fast on descent. Some good advice I've done it a few times mostly with my wild camping kit so more weight.ive spoke to lots of people who are doing Helvellyn for the 1st time they are all nervous.the biggest thing is the weather conditions if it's not suitable don't do it I say to them either take the bypass just off the ridge or leave the ridges and go via Whiteside but that's if your goal is to just do the summit

Dave -- I'd never contemplated starting at the crack of dawn like yourself. The advantages, on a fine day, are obvious. You can take your time. You can be off the mountain by 14-00 h. And you always get a spot to park!
Striding Edge is too hard for me at present. I'd want to practice and sharpen up my mountain walking skills first. Arêtes should never be considered lightly. One slip. And that's it! So my point is to always say your prayers for a safe journey to Jesus before you set out. God bless you and keep you safe!
