Remember, when you hire an NPC to pilot the ship launched fighter, THEY GET THEIR CUT NO MATTER WHAT SHIP YOU ARE IN. Even if you mine 314 tons of Void Opals in an Anaconda with no fighter ship hangar. Especially if you hire three @12% each...

I suppose I'm the only one who thinks the condor looks the best. I love the shape and simple color, but I especially love how the heat vents outline the plating on the ship with a warm red/orange glow.
The Condor looks wonderful, but I just can't stand flying the damn thing. Plus, it really suffers from being "piggy in the middle". In that, It's not as maneuverable as the Imp fighter, but it doesn't have the extra tankiness offered by the taipan. It's just the worst of both worlds. Though the multicannon Condor is nice
Midnight Black Condor with Orange Thrusters and Blue Beam Lasers. Sexiest SLF in the game. That said, I think a lot of people are missing the point with the Condor. The nice thing about it is that you can do 2/0/4 (or 4/0/2 if you're using the Multicannon variant) with your pips and still outrun everything except an Eagle. The boost speed doesn't matter because it's so fast you have no reason to boost. You can essentially set your pips and then ignore them forever. The only reason not to use the Condor is if you're using the AX variant of the Taipan, basically. For every other job, the Condor is best. In any case, the extra maneuverability of the Imperial fighter is wholly irrelevant because its only marginally better than the Condor, and the Condor can already out-turn every normal ship in the game, including an Eagle. It's like saying Unobtainium is harder than Vibranium. Maybe it is, but either one is indestructible so if Vibranium is available, it'll do fine. In addition, the only time the looks seem relevant - at least to me - is when you're launching it from an Imperial Cutter. What good does a sexy Imperial design do when your mothership is a Keelback? At least with the Condor or Taipan, any ship you might launch from, be it a Krait or Corvette or a Conda, at least vaguely matches the ship. There's beauty in consistency. (And if you're flying a Cutter, why are you even here? You know good and damn well you ONLY consider looks when buying your ship. Your mind was made up before you arrived.)
they probably figure we already have it. my grief with them is more like how does the imperial one pitch so good with so shitly placed thrusters...i mean, sure, roll should be awesome, and yaw also. but the pitch...? how? they stopped physics-ing these ships?
At least you mentioned that the condor is be best for popping hulls.... so in my opinion, Flying a Fighter, imperial gu-93 all the way, pvp fighter, alliance taipan. I'll still stick with my condor with multi's all the way.
(I rarely use my fighters for what they're supposed to be used for.) My favorite fighter is the Taipan because my crew almost exclusively flies a fighter, and I don't want to have to worry about them getting damaged so I can continue the fight, and they make an excellent support role in my fighting style. (Yes I use AX multi cannons because they have the higher DPS)
It is so hard to find a friend , who will allow me to deploy from their ship I'll just make a sidewinder with A rated thrusters and D level everything else with ungimballed lasers and no space exploration scanner . Put into a wing and you have a real CQC feeling that you could never get in CQC sadly.
The 'bloopers'at the end of this are absolute You Tube gold. Particularly the repeated failed fighter docking attempts, fucking hilarious! It's great when Yamiks gets a funny bunch of guys together and they really entertain. Still one of my favourite videos and one of the reasons I am a patreon. Love you Yamiks!!!
Yeeaaaaah, I'm going to stick with my Condors if it all means the same to you. I love the deliberate, deadly appearance of the ship lent to it by its geometric aesthetic, and the cockpit looks like it would be at home in a stealth fighter. Plus, I adore the Multicannon variant of the Condor as it will easily tear through hull plating with truly terrifying speed so long as you can keep the guns on target (not that it's that big a problem when you're busy terrorizing a Cobra or Diamondback with it, even a Python will find itself wondering why its structural integrity is dropping at such a rate with just a single MC Condor hosing it with bullets). Additionally, the gimballed Beam Laser variant of the Condor can literally delete Cobras and Sidewinders in one pass (same for Diamondbacks if you manage to keep your fire on them the whole time) if you throw all power to weapons and pop a heat sink while giving the trigger some love. Finally, I love the balance of durability and maneuverability the Condor has going for it. It can survive some hits and give an Imperial fighter (also known as the "Zero in space" for its maneuverability and tendency to fall apart under sustained weapons fire) a run for its money before hitting the afterburners and leaving it in the dust. looks only get you so far and the Impie fighter tries far too hard to win beauty pagents for my liking. The Taipan's okay in my books though, I like how durable it is and it'd be a go-to bomber for me if I wanted them. Sorry, but I'm a die-hard Condor fan; it has the looks, capabilities, and weapons I look for in fighters while being fast as hell and a joy to fly all the same.
The taipan actually pushing the other ship makes me wonder, what if you could use your fighter as an emergency tug or fuel source if your ship runs out of fuel?
I had SUCH high hopes for the ship launched fighter. I was hoping that the ship launched fighter would be a REAL ship, like an Eagle, or Sidewinder, that I could use as a shuttle, allowing for scenarios like docking at stations that didn't have a large landing pad. Many times I take jobs or collect bounties in systems without a large landing pad, and then I have to dock 2 systems over, buy a sidewinder, jump over, collect, jump back and take a hit on selling the sidey. This has somewhat changed with the universal contracts broker, but %25 hit... Not bad if you're collecting 10,000 credits, but if you're collecting 10,000,000 then that's substantial. This means I have a myriad of sidewinders peppered all over the place in storage so I can manage this.
The fixed-multicannon Condor is actually probably the most useful NPC copilot SLF for PvE, alongside the beam laser Taipan. One has hull-eaters and chaff, the other has heatsink launchers and beam lasers. I should note that I'm saying this for two major reasons: NPCs have near-perfect aim, and NPCs have near-perfect aim. No, that's not one reason, it's two, because it means that: 1. Your SLF will do just fine with fixed weapons even if you and everyone you know can't aim for shit. 2. Enemy NPCs _will_ destroy your SLFs if you don't give them something else to shoot at. It's not a question of if, it's a question of _when._ The GU-97 only has about...mmm...somewhere between one-half and two-thirds of the durability of its counterparts. The F63 actually can hold up under more abuse than the Taipan if we're talking getting hit by something fairly powerful, or being peppered continuously without being given a chance to reboot shields. The Taipan has a stronger _hull,_ while the Condor has stronger _shields,_ both important. In practice, I'd say the Taipan still has the edge in durability because usually, an SLF takes a bit of a beating, loses shields and some hull, and flies off to let its fast-recharging shields boot back up. So the stronger hull on the Taipan means it can survive an additional pummeling or two before going down, although, on the flip side, the Taipan mentioned does _not_ have chaff launchers, so it's really unclear which one is ultimately more survivable. In either case, the GU-97 really isn't going to offer much of anything over those two and it'll come with a significant disadvantage. Sure, it's by far the most maneuverable of the three, but it's slower than both and any SLF is going to be able to thoroughly outperform larger non-SLF ships anyway, so those advantages are just...additional, unnecessary icing on the cake which come at the expense of survivability. Not worth it. As for NPC piloted SLFs in PvP, there may be more use for the GU-97, since it's a smaller target and is more agile than its counterparts so it can be harder for a human player to hit, but usually, PvPers deal with SLFs by sending their own SLF after it, which creates the same situation as seen in the above. They may also use fragmentation cannons, which...are going to shred your SLF no matter which model it is, but once again, the GU-97's lack of durability makes it an even worse choice than the other two for that situation. Although gimbaled weapons are frowned upon in PvP meta for most of the commonly used ships, and turrets are usually a horrendous choice due to obscenely low comparative DPS, these do at least have the advantage of being easier to kill an SLF with than fixed weapons, although certain SLFs have chaff launchers. Unfortunately for the GU-97, the only models which have these also have horrendous DPS ranging from one-half to _one-fourth_ what the beam Taipan does, which prevents them from being a good choice...again. In the event that none of the aforementioned counters to the SLF are available, the PvPer will generally just try to evade the SLF and concentrate on the mothership, which essentially amounts to open season for any SLF. In this case, you might as well pick the SLF with the most raw DPS, since any one of them can stay on-target and PvPers usually run equal resists so damage type isn't as important. Since the GU-97 has the aforementioned disadvantages in survivability and firepower, again, I can't really think of a good situation to use them in. Specific models of the other two fighters check more boxes.
You forgot to mention the true cost of each fighter, the lifetime of grinding required to afford anything in our favourite second job or "game" as Elite is sometimes called
Am I the only one that thought the one they kept saying was 'ugly' was actually the best looking ship? And that the one they praised as being so 'beautiful' was the ugliest?
Core dynamics: AH SHIT!! We spent all the budget on all the other ships! Boss what do we do we we're going bankrupt! Quickly bring me a welding torch and a saw blade!
the struggle at the end there has happened to me a number of times. i've actually given up manual docking and just switch to my ship and let the npc do it.
The Taipan is my favorite fighter simply because of its looks. But its lackluster speed and maneuverability turns me towards the other fighters for practical use. I really like the Condor for its middle-of-the-road performance and hull integrity. The Imp fighter is my least favorite in terms of looks, but I like its speed and agility. The thing I hate the most about it though is the fact that it's near impossible to stop spinning in an Imp once you get slapped by a bigger ship.
wildmonkeycar depends on who fly it, if it is you then definitely, if it is the stupid AI that has no clue on how to fly, then it is better to give them the option that keeps their retarded ass alive longer.
Umm, the Taipan is actually the fastest of the three fighters. Imperial fighter tops out at ~540m/s boost, condor about 554m/s boost, Taipan 564m/s boost.
The imperial fighter is wet tissue paper The Condor is a little ugly but I like the multi cannons The taipan has the most interesting looking shape but his a little slow

5:33 It's not like there have been other, more ancient empires that failed partly due to an over reliance on slave labour. It's name is on the edge of my memory, rhymes with grome.
In a Corvette, it is much easier to pick on larger targets when you have a fighter to distract the other ship which allows you to wall right in and lay waste to their shields In short, a fighter screen is very important and worth the size 5 slot I find the Imperial Fighter quite ugly and settle on a Taipain everyday I’m also a diehard fed and I hate my cutter down to its modules and I only use one because its more stylish than a T9
I'm a 3D designer and concept artist and I gotta say, it almost feels like E.D. designers are using Google SketchUp to design these ships, as opposed to using say, Maya, or 3DS Max, or at least CAD for goodness sakes. It seems the software they are using is highly limiting to dynamic objects "within" the main silhouette of every ship. And so all ships are forced to follow a simplistic geometry...and so they all look too similar to each other. Secondly, it is STILL possible to choose alternate configurations using their design work flow, like, let's say, a B-Wing fighter for example and just make a docking platform that attaches to the SIDE of the ship. There ya go, instant new approach in 10 seconds without even a need to redesign the landing platform.

The guy who showcased Taipan put on the best impression of a radical leftist I’ve ever seen in voice-acting. XD
YOU ARE A LEGEND GOOD SIR!!!...
Anyone remember that arcade racing game, where everyone pilots speed boats down canals and rivers? That's what condor looks like to me.
Remember, Anaconda's and Taipans are too magnets, they either stick together or repel against each other 15:03
I don't mind the condor, just wish that the engines are a wee bit stronger by about 25% at the least.
That would be hilarious if there was a .05% chance of your Imperial ship immediately blowing up from sabotage by the slaves after buying it.
Ah the unicorn onesie burn at DJ there xD gg Yamiks.
the imperial one looks like a 1 kg dumbbell
"Fuck off Mr. Unicorn Onesie" OMG that was brilliant!
The funny thing is, The Taipan is not actually manufactured by Lakon, it's a DeLacy ship.
Core dynamics: AH SHIT!! We spent all the budget on all the other ships! Boss what do we do we we're going bankrupt! Quickly bring me a welding torch and a saw blade!
The Taipan is made by Faulcon Delacy.
the struggle at the end there has happened to me a number of times. i've actually given up manual docking and just switch to my ship and let the npc do it.
dude this is the best
LOVE the co-op presentation, and the banter.... Top Notch!
also i know... late af
I use the Taipan. In VR, the thing is probably the best to fly. ALSO, crotch lookout view.
Surely the best shape for a space based fighter is a sphere?
Isn’t Taipan made by Delacy?
good video, honest to god effort and a quality final product is such a rarity these days
disco balls are made of glass witch is true with the imperial fighter.
This was hilarious. Especially the out takes. Made my bad day good. Tyvm fellas
I love the outtakes of this episode, funniest one ever!!!
Taipan and condor are way cooler looking the gutamyas version. Thanks for supporting the federation yamiks.
The imperial fighter is wet tissue paper
The Condor is a little ugly but I like the multi cannons
The taipan has the most interesting looking shape but his a little slow
Just got a Elite Dangerous ad lol
i wonder who's AD that was...
Eyyyy I'm early. Time for a joke...
Powerplay
another joke Cobra mk4
yes
ItzFizz and what about passenger missions...
CMDR PLKarmann noo passenger missions are good
CMDR PLKarmann Easy cash, no problems with that.
today we review the mini viper the naboo fighter and the butterfly
I cannot figure out their obsession with Imperial ship design. I find them beyond ugly, like giant, rounded space ambulances.
CMDR AnthraxPopsicle here. FED pilot from the Southeastern USA. You haven't had anyone with our accent on lol. You definitely need a superior Fed pilot around alongside your mayonnaise colored basking machines.
Imperial ships in general look graceful, advanced, elegant and beautiful overall.
Except for the Neanderthal forehead they gave the clipper...
5:33 It's not like there have been other, more ancient empires that failed partly due to an over reliance on slave labour. It's name is on the edge of my memory, rhymes with grome.
I just got an Anaconda, saw "Fighter bay" was so excited. Saw "2 fighter slots" SUPER excited.
But of course... This is Elite.
Dissapointment.
condor can fit INSIDE thargoid ruins :P
In a Corvette, it is much easier to pick on larger targets when you have a fighter to distract the other ship which allows you to wall right in and lay waste to their shields
In short, a fighter screen is very important and worth the size 5 slot
I find the Imperial Fighter quite ugly and settle on a Taipain everyday
I’m also a diehard fed and I hate my cutter down to its modules and I only use one because its more stylish than a T9
i suddenly have a reason to not be an imperial?
The commentary had me in tears. Too damn funny.
That was good fun, thx.
Never drink water when reading Standardized Hud Interface Technology
I want the CYLON fighter! that thing looks sick... BOOP! lmao!
Imperial fighter... guess they forgot to put in lateral thrusters. Who needs yaw translation anyway?
lol Yamiks is just teasing us at this point
The Condor definitely looks the best.
Although the thrusters on the back look awful, especially when viewing it from the back and side.
Where was the imperial fighter recorded? That’s really cool having the big ship there
Always love these reviews :D
Not a sexual innuendo was spared. Lol!
What station did you record near that mega ship looks really cool
So funny!. The bloopers omg i died!.
