    You're wrong on this visa, it's 180 days per entry with a single extension inside the country - the multi entry part is similar to the Elite Visa I have where I get a 1 year stamp every time I enter the country, even if I'm just coming for a couple of weeks - but 180 days instead.
    As it's a multi entry visa you can come as many times as you want - there's nothing about aggregated day counting over 5 years, whoever told you that has their wires crossed.

    • @EscapetoThailand
      @EscapetoThailand  หลายเดือนก่อน

      So if you're correct who'd get any other visa? Only a border run every 6 months to stay in Thailand for 5 years? Who'd actually spend the money and jump the hoops for all those expensive visa options like the LTR long term visa or the Elite visa?

    • @KarlFjeseth
      @KarlFjeseth หลายเดือนก่อน

      Correct it’s definitely 180 days per entry. Watch Siam Legal’s latest video on the Visa. Very detailed information.

      @@EscapetoThailand Most likely people who have the money to spend and don't want to bother with border runs.
      There are some perks the Elite visa has to offer but none of them are worth the high visa cost.
      The LTR visa also offers some benefits, a discounted personal income tax rate for example.
      The DETV might be a good alternative for people staying in Thailand long term on retirement or marriage extensions. Every visa has its pros and cons, in case of the DETV the cons are not all known yet because it is so new. Obtaining a yellow house book or pink ID card might be harder if not even impossible for example. Immigration could also refuse residency certificates for those living here long term on the DETV.
      Time will tell.

    Sorry Jc I think you are wrong in this one. As another commenter mentioned…. You can keep coming and going in and out of Thailand every 180 days, and the clock resets. So since it’s multiple entry, one could leave every 179 days, come back and stay another 179 before leaving again. And you could do this for 5 years. That’s a heck of a deal, and your info on the video is incorrect about this. It cheaply says this in the Thai government visa site. I’m kinda surprised Jc

      @EscapetoThailand  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I could be wrong. I'll do more research. But the way you describe it means somebody could go back to the old days when we did 30 day border runs and stayed indefinitely. The way you described this would mean you could do a border run every 159 days for 5 years and every time you reentered Thailand you'd get another 160 day allowance. Not sure that's Thailand's intention. But if you're right then it's a great long stay option!!! 😎 👍 We'll see.

      @@EscapetoThailand yes, that’s exactly how the Thai web site describes it. If true, it becomes a great option for someone like me… retired but wants to live in LOS but travel often. I don’t have to leave $23k in a Thai bank, loosing about $2000 a year in ROI.

      @@EscapetoThailand BTW, I have watched you since the very beginning! If I have never thanked you, I want to now. Your videos gave me hope when my 10+ year wife cheated on me, told me to go away when I was in the hospital! I had no money, invested my youthful 50's in her and raising her 2 kids. I was desperate. I watched and the "there's always an option" hit me hard, as I was searching for one. I made a plan, and a couple years later I moved to Thailand. My family begged me to come home (U.S.) when Covid struck. Now, I'm kind of stuck here until my 15.5b year pooch moves on, as I won't subject him to flying into LOS again. I look forward to my leisurely days exploring Thailand again. You were a big reason for my finding "an option". Thanks buddy!

    The DETV is a 5 year Multiple entry visa. 180 days PER entry.
    One can stay for 180 days, leave Thailand and return on the same day for annother 180 days.
    The Destination Thailand Visa is very well a visa suitable for long term stay and for some people a much better alternative than Non O extensions based on retirement or marriage.

    • @aeroAdvocate
      @aeroAdvocate หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly. Don't listen to disgruntled Thailand "Expats" who are pissy because they only get a one-year retirement / marriage visa or have been stupid enough to pay the recent 900k for an Elite Visa. Still a lot of confusion about this Visa. Once again, everything is clear as mud. I don’t think you have the answers either because it sounds like everyone thinks this can be renewed every year for 180 days per entry every year for five years. I don’t think you are the definitive last word but appreciate the video. Also, it appears you don’t need money banked in Thailand and there is no medical insurance requirement. But since this is Thailand, everything can change on a satang.

    • @BradSabako
      @BradSabako หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Exactly right… the Thai visa site clearly states it the way you say, not the way JT says.

    • @scottwillie6389
      @scottwillie6389 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, there are definitely people who have confirmed already gotten the visa using foreign bank statement. I also think JC is mistaken about how it is going to work AS OF NOW, but of course nobody has tried staying full 180 days and immediately re-entering yet. And even if that is the way it works, I'd have some concerns as to whether that would remain the policy (essentially a 5 year visa) for the next five years without them suddenly changing the policy midstream to something more like what JC is saying.
      Because the way this has been explained by the government so far, the DTV seems to be a better option than any Non O visa. People who get married are going to prefer this visa. People who are retired would probably much rather go to a cooking class and get a DTV than deal with the hoops involved with Non O. And that will eventually become apparent to Thai Authorities. And what happens then?

    The serious risk of moving to Thailand is that these rules are perpetually subject to change. Visa runs were a thing, now they are not. Fees for ATM’s can be jacked up for foreigners. Maybe the 180 days changes to 90. Perhaps they will want a much larger bank deposit that essentially belongs to them. If you leave permanently, they may refund the money today, but will they change that in 5 years? There are just far too many unknowns that are perpetually moving pieces to the puzzle.

    JC, I do not wish to be alarmist, but I will pass this on in the hope that it helps. I have had multiple types of skin cancers removed over the years (non-malignant ones), so I have done a lot of research on the topic. The black spot on the right side of Nat’s nose is blackish and slightly irregular in shape. It may be ( God forbid ) a melanoma, which is malignant. Or maybe it is just a mole? It has been a long time since I have seen one of your videos, so I don’t now if the spot is recent or not. In any event, I strongly suggest that you have Nat see a dermatologist. Better safe than really, really sorry.
