I like how Selene and Olivia run from that first cultist like there completely helpless only for it to be followed by Selene effortlessly breaking necks and taking out a load of armed cultists and Olivia takes on an army of monsters but that first guy when there together was too much to handle.

AI voices are getting scarily good. Honestly if the dev cared a bit more they could've spent more time messing around with the parameters to actually get the speech to sound right but obviously that's the least of the game's problems
Those AI synthesis videos of Dr. Breen from Half-Life, David Attenborough, or Joe Rogan all sound like the real people. They even get the pauses and inflections.

I mean it's cool that the latest boomer shooter he plays turns out to be good but that's to be expected for many of these games while you never know what you are getting with these janky game reviews. I also wouldn't want to play them for hours so just watching a compilation of these weird moments works better.
To the dev, don't stop. keep working on it, but maybe take the games down for a while and work on just one of them at a time polish it up enough to properly sell it as early access, and keep working on that one project, two projects at a time is too much and you will get nether to a sellable state.
I'm working on my first game for more that 2 years. Unreal 4, only free assets (each month they give 4 payed for free, so there is that) and i make the main char voice, and have 2 friends do the others. It's slow, but i'm gonna get it at least playable and fun for it's 3 hours of gameplay ahahahah

The Main Character is almost the standard character that comes with an 3D software called Iclone 8. Even the hair is the same. All other human characters in this game are also from Iclone 7 / 8 and some are adjusted from Character Creator 3 and 4 (from Reallusion).
There's a line in the notorious House of the Dead 2's voiceover where a nearly-killed bystander, confronted with a zombie apocalypse, says "what's happened to this city?" in a tone of voice that suggests he's unhappy with the organisation of a local farmer's market. That's the vibe that the title "Selene's Unbearable Night" gives me.

Selene's night actually looks well. sure, it's janky and its homages are more like rip-offs, but whoever made it definitely loves this genre and tried to create something. hope they'll improve with their next games. (they surely did improve after unbearable)

When it comes to 'Resident Evil clones', none have come closer than Daymare 1999 - it's love letter to the old school survival horror games, not just RE but also flirting with Silent Hill at times. Plus it stars late Paul Haddad (the original Leon Kennedy). I believe the prequel was just released, I need to give it a spin.

I think Rabbit Hole, the Heaven Dust games, St Dinfna and Dead Beacon are the best of the indie horror games that took notes from early survival horror. Some of them hew much closer to the formula than others, but the important part is they were all actually fun. In more general terms I'm surprised that the Lust for Darkness games seem to float below the radar for a lot of people.

Looks like they actually made an effort to give it some texture so that puts it leagues above some of the other times i have seen it with its default texture. Despite the jank someone actually put in some effort to make this game and that is nice to see :)
The reason why the mirror looks like a television it's because the mirror seems to be a plane put on the wall with a render texture on it (in case you don't know what that is, well it's a texture that renders what a camera sees. So basically there is a camera in front of the plane, and the texture of the plane renders what the camera sees). The reason why you can't see the monster it's because the monster game object has a layer, and you can set a camera to not see that specific layer, in this case the camera behind the main character.
would you rather have working mirrors or ~15% higher framerate across the whole game?(Global clip plane) In the game they could have used the old copy to a dummy method tough.
Surely developers could use the more expensive rendering method when there's a mirror nearby or in view, and use a more efficient method when there are no mirrors. There's no reason to account for mirrors in the rendering pipeline if there are no mirrors in the level.
@@450AHX no they sadly can't, the rendering pipline usually does not use a global clip plane, enabling it requires recompilation of all shaders with added instructions. Graphics have become much better not only due to technical progress but also optimizations, some much faster methods sadly introduce some drawbacks but no worry soon we will have nice mirrors again :3

There is no such thing. If you don't have a clue about something maybe don't try to make a comment about it? Unreal 3-5 are one of the versatile engines ever created, powering games of every art style and genre you can think of, and the only thing which determines the look of the game is the developer.

This game literally uses the default 3D text, some stock materials, and the base lighting engine for UE4 (powdered by Swarm). Unreal's base lighting, post processing and motion blur effects are so clear in this game. Explain how else I knew this was made in Unreal 4... because I can literally tell just by looking at it.
