I know it's basically how all the star trek films work and I get it they were trying to escape and get to the federation. But why not fly off in a random direction? Assuming they got out of range of the Scimitar's sensors, dropped to impulse, and pick another random but not the way they came direction would they not be able to escape easier? Maybe do that a few times just to be sure? I mean in the shows they always took hours to figure out the direction of a warp trajectory (later on I guess it became easier to a degree) so by choosing a not direct path I feel like they would have had a better chance to get back in time to warn SF. But then again..... no movie if Shinzon died because he was too slow at getting Picard or to Earth.
Can you imagine a series set a hundred years after this with the Enterprise-(Idk, I?) using an advanced version to make the first trip to the Andromeda Galaxy, or even Triangulum? Nope, another prequel with a canon-breaking magic mushroom drive in a pizza cutter starship....
Ugh, did they have to make Picard do the heroics of shooting with two guns without aiming properly but hitting his targets (being completely exposed), while Data misses all his shots?

I'm pretty sure we've seen in previous movies that you can hug someone and use the same transporter beam.
I think it was established that it was a prototype and probably one of those plot devices that “can’t be replicated”.

Ron Pearlman, excellent
It appears that every enemy soldier in sci-fi went to the same Storm trooper fire arms training camp.
Though, it could have been sick if Picard had beamed out and we saw Data using his quick reflexes to shoot his way through the ship.

it was experimental and there was no guarantee of success. and I doubt Geordi had even field tested that one.
The hallways and window for escape just happen to be the right size for the shuttle. 😅
Still a great scene though!
They can't kill Picard. If they did, Shinzon's entire plan goes out of the window. Data, though, yeah, they would have got him immediately.
