    The photos are the end were fabulous! It looked like you were having a lot of fun there. :) You're right about the difficulty of buying plain fabrics. Firstly, it's actually tricky to find decent plain fabrics in the first place; then there's the tricky issue of forcing yourself to purchase it. And I love finding nearly-new sewing patterns for next to nothing secondhand, especially when you can use them to make shirt dresses as lovely as these ones.

      Katie Writes Stuff thanks Katie, I think we will definitely do more mini photo shoots at the end of videos. It's such fun but I definitely need more practice at the serious model face !

    Both dresses are lovely 👍🏻. I'm addicted to prints myself and it is so hard to incorporate solids but I'm trying 😜 Thanks for sharing 😘

    Love these shirt dresses! I would be interested to see you do a tutorial on how to do a proper collar stand. Great photo shoot! 📷🌸👯‍♀️🌞

    Your dresses turned out really nice, love the fabric on both. I have to post my entry later, but I did have a hard time with my shirtdress collar, so I ditched it - LOL!. I used McCall too, but 6891.

    Hurray for shirt dresses! Yours have turned out so so so beautifully...same here about buying solid fabrics btw. I always end up buying something with some kind of print on it, mostly flowers. And yes: nautical prints also find their way into my shopping bag without me even noticing :P

    Lovely dresses girls. Love the picture Montage at the end although Nikki looks as if she is having trouble being serious.

      Quiltygal I must practice more serious poses but I get too giggly and always act 😝

    They look great. I have made this dress...well, the top and skirt separately, shoved to the back of the cupboard because I can't seem to fit the bodice correctly and scared of doing a button placket. Need to be brave and just try it... :)

    • @StitchSisters
      @StitchSisters  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sian Sweet the button plaquet isn't too bad. Just take it one step at a time, it's very satisfying once it's in place 😘

    You both just look great. I had the same problem with the back. How do you get the fullness out

  • @lcarlson1538
    @lcarlson1538 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Love your dresses! So summery! How did you a.) take the fullness out of the back and b.) decide how much fabric to remove (if you did)?

    • @StitchSisters
      @StitchSisters  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Laurie Carlson we tried to make the bodice the same size as the skirt at the waistband and just ended up adding one vent Pleat instead of all the gathers.

    Very nice, thank you :) could you do a video for a decorative topstitching, while using special thicker tread, as on jeans?,,

    • @StitchSisters

      Ieva Alvidovna we are both doing jeans this summer so we will add some topstitching to the vlog list for you !

    I have really enjoyed your videos. I used to make all my clothes but took about a 20 year hiatus from all sewing. Now I’m sewing again. Mostly quilting but looking to get back into garment sewing. My problem is that one of my shoulders is completely wrecked and I can’t manage a back zipper at all. Do you think a simple dress like a shift you can modify to put in a side zipper instead of a back zipper? I would really appreciate your input. Thanks.

    Do you remember what size you made? I am looking at the pattern and it seems roomy. Are you glad you made it in cotton? I am looking to made it during this lockdown. Thanks!

    Beautiful ladies and lovely dresses! I want to ask you the age old question; do you wash your fabric before sewing? I know this will open a can of worms for sure! TIA

    • @StitchSisters
      @StitchSisters  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Colleen Isaac yes we do wash our fabric before sewing (generally !). We always wash anything with stretch but sometimes don’t worry too much with 100% cottons. 😁👍🏼💚
