Wow...busy lady! Love the green viscose top. Also you could add a peplum on the tops You feel is little short, maybe using the simplicity 1930s style blouses. You mention unpicking overlocker seams. I learnt a great tip to doing this many years ago when I worked as an overlocker. You can do a whole seam in seconds. 1. Carefully trim off the linked lower loop threads where they meet on the cut edge of the seam. 2. Find the needle threads and simply pull them out in one quick pull. 3. Brush away with your fingers any bits of remaining threads...voila! The secret is just cutting the interlinked lower hoop threads on the edge of fabric but DON'T cut the fabric as you will lose your seam allowances. 😉
That octopod dress is fabulous!! I don’t normally like the style of shirt dresses, personally, but that pattern is really very nice. I’ll check out your sewalong as well and see if maybe this one might swing my fancy. I especially love that it is nursing friendly without any modifications, as I have a baby. But really, that fabric is so great and the dress is simply lovely. Well done !
It's fascinating looking back at videos you made this long ago, and seeing how your preferences have evolved. You were making and wearing (and looking gorgeous 🤩) in many more separates then... We all change over time, I guess. I am constantly telling myself that dresses are not just for "special occasions" (of which there are fewer now that all my daughters are married and all my grandchildren have been christened!) and wearing dresses way more than I used to. I hope your beautiful skirts will see the light of day again, they are too pretty to be languishing in the darkest recesses of the wardrobe 🤞
I had a quick glance through all the makes and none of the separates are in my wardrobe anymore!! The only one I still have is the last skirt and it's currently in pieces waiting to be turned in to a dress! I do enjoy making new things and separates but have yet to find the ones that work for me ....it's fun trying though :). And wearing dresses is fun ;) :)
Your version of the "cheese shirt" looks SOOO much better than the Deer&Doe Website, which had turned me off of it. Yours turned out so flattering on you that now I'm tempted to try it. I also love how flattering the trousers are on you, and managed to order a copy of the pattern off of ebay. I love the idea of trousers that are like a skirt, with volume that slims. Your makes are wonderful. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about each one. Especially now with more isolation due to Covid-19, it's nice to at least listen to a "chat" about sewing, even if it's one-sided. I know you made this before Covid, but your efforts are a gift. Thank you.
All are absolutely beautiful. The one that I really thought looked ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC on you was the last one. The cut, the style, the pockets, the fabric. All adding up to an extremely stylish you.
Fantastic sewing!!! Particularly loved the Octopus Dress and the Anna Dress. Admire that you have zoned in on what really flatters your figure and I agree the fitted upper torso is most flattering. Although I like the Eve dress and the anchor fabric, it doesn't quite come up to the same wow factor of the fitted ones. I am embracing your idea of doing a themed collection and love the naval look so that is my next goal. You really inspire so many of us in how you put together, manipulate and change and hack your patterns!!! Thank you!!
Morning Sian. I adore your Eve dress.. i have the pattern but have yet to make it. To be honest I love all the things you make.... you really do have a fantastic eye for fabrics and complimenting patterns. You are also very aware of what style suit you. what a lovely start to my Sunday... to have almost an hour with you. Love Lisa xxxx
Wow ,what a lot of fabulous makes.l love the "eve"dress and the pattern of the last skirt is beautiful but, realistically.they are all brilliant.I enjoyed this vlog because you give so much information but in a way that I feel your sitting chatting to me.so.,so enjoyable.Enjoy your night out.
I loved this video and it was long, but it was like talking to my much more talented girlfriend about sewing. You did an amazing job and I am so in love with the octopus print! I really hope I can have it shipped here to the states for less than an arm and a leg
Yes, it can also be applicable. Try pinching the width of your shoulder seam and see you can raise your arms more easily. If you can, put a vertical dart in both front and back bodice pieces.
I just noticed your little stuffed elephant in your background and now I like you even better (because of my obsessive love of all ellies - studies and fabrics). And I didn’t comment on April’s plans but I love the LV shoes, GORGE!!! The edible floral dress I think is my favorite with the Octopi dress a close second, yellow is so pretty on you.
20 Items wow! Wish I had half your energy. I loved them all. Need to get a few new bits made myself. I'd love a big pleated skirt but worry about my Apple (post menopause) shape now...Any suggestions for different shapes?
Oh Sian! I absolutely adore you in these slimmer silhouettes! Wish we all had the ability to see ourselves through others eyes. Your shape is perfect and can we talk about the jeans....so flattering on you with every top! This whole video is young and fresh, more like your personality 😎
I ABSOLUTELY loved everything. I soooo need to make some skirts. I've been lengthening my bodices as well and love the way my bodices are sitting now. Bumper month 😄
Amazing amount of work and beautiful makes. The adjustments on the tops are perfect for you. It encourages me to rethink what to do to make garments work rather than just discarding them. For the body suite you said you didn't need to lengthen it because you made a size large. I'm making one and am 5'7" with a size D cup. Would you recommend I make a size large pattern? You are how tall? How much ease do you put into your waist bands? I like the idea of making a skirt out of 2 rectangles. So easy, da! Are you going to be making the V8577 dress? I want to make it and would love to see what you come up with.
Thank you 😊 For the bodysuit I'd recommend that you measure the pattern pieces and also double check the finished garment measurements printed on the pattern, that should give you an idea of which size to trace. (I'm 5ft8" btw) Have a look at the circle skirt tutorial for waistband ease etc 😊 I've done a sew-a-long for the 8577 you can find it in the Playlist tab 😊
Lovely makes, as always. Yeah, in the US, our khaki is definitely tan. The color you were wearing is more what we'd call an Army Green. I like your pronunciation, but it always makes me think people car saying Car Keys. LOL! And you got me wondering about the Wally/Waldo thing...he has some pretty funny names in other coutries! Holger, Charlie, Willy! I'll stick to Waldo.
Great makes Sian😍. I have made one dress in the time you have made twenty things ha ha........ I'm so slow 😁😉. I think I my favourite is your Sew Over It Eve dress😍😘
Hi Sian, I absolutely love the seashells skirt! Well I love it all really, I wondered if you could tell me with the buttonhole for the wrap dress did you put it in the seam or to the side? Also sorry all questions today, if I were to make a scuba\ponte circle skirt do I need too hang it till it drops like with a woven fabric? Thanks for all your videos they are great x
I am beyond impressed with the amount you have made - and everything looks so lovely. You look brilliant in those tight jeans, I wish I could wear things like that......(I am too short and just look like an inverted triangle!) Cathy.
Hi Sian. I love the green floral you wore before the 4 skirts. What is it please? Rayon? Where did you get it? Thanks. Btw I think that and also the Eve dress are wonderful on you.
Gorgeous makes Sian. I have made the Eve dress and I am planning on making a second red silk one. I have burrito ed shirt yokes before but I can't visualise what you mean here. Do you mean attach one Yoke to the front then wrap the yokes around the bodice ie the bodice is the filling ? Then what would I do with the back ? My brain hurts x
Actually I think I know what you mean now. I can pretend the shoulder yokes are the back yoke ( like on a shirt) that way the front and the back are rolled inside the yoke. The yokes are small so will all that fit inside those tiny yokes ?
I love the Vogue 8825 dress on you 😍 I know I've said it many times, but I really think you see yourself differently from how people see you - I like the more bum hugging stuff on you (this is such an asset, you just don't appreciate your shapely bum enough). We had the 'my precious' fabric conversation on your fanpage (KB peeps) - so it seems we're all the same 😉 I love all your makes, they are very professional (even the oh-so-revealing bodysuit). I want some octopuses fabric 😍😍😍 (and yes, it's octopodes not octopi as the word comes from Greek not Latin - but it sounds a bit snobbish, especially since there's a perfectly acceptable and correct English regular plural of the noun 🤐)
Remember, if you can't raise your arms, it is almost always because the sleeve seam doesn't fit on your true shoulder. When the top seams of the bodice hang past your true shoulder line, the sleeves will bind your upper arms. We used to use darts in the top bodice to prevent poorly fitting bodice tops.
Thank you 😊 that pattern has grown on sleeves so no shoulder seam in it. It also has a shaping dart under the collar at the front. Does the shoulder seam apply in this case? Thank you again for taking the time to comment it is most helpful 😊
If you are going to get anymore of the Kaffe Fasset fabric you need to do that soon as Free Spirit is no more and it will be very hard to find it, and at a price you like.
Mary please don't worry about it I know you have an incredibly hectic time going on at the moment! The project you and Mum have dreamed up sounds like so much fun can't wait to see what fabrics and picture you send and then to see what Mum creates with it 😊 exciting.

Wow you have been super busy. I love your first dress!

What a lovely look book! You have a brand new gorgeous wardrobe! 20 pieces in a month… You ROCK lady!
Right?! I usually finish two or three in a month
Love the green/blue stripe skirt, especially. So cute!
So many gorgeous makes-I don't think it's possible to choose a favorite. Loved all of them. Looking forward to your April sewing plans.

Lovely makes! My favorite is the octopi dress, the colors are beautiful!
I'm from Brooklyn. Khaki is green.
Thank you!
20 ITEMS! I love how you explain the changes you want to make. Also that you like to make tops that go with other pieces. tfs
The obsession with Eve dresses begins!

Love all your creations. .
What awesome makes. Everything is so beautiful. Especially love the skirts.
Seriously Sian, wonderful makes even the ones that didn't meet your expectations! 😊

Great makes and by the way you look absolutely gorgeous in green! Love the cowl neck blouse on you.
Oh my you made so many things! All are beautiful as usual.... love everything! TFS. Christine
I also limit myself to 3 makes per pattern, (except for the Ogden cami). Lovely makes! My fave is the ocean/fish skirt :)

Love your dresses, and everything else, you are a wonderful seamstress, I can only hope to sew that well!

Wow !! I had to have a Nana nap in the middle of that. I love it all but that last skirt is gorgeous x
They are all beautiful. 👍 I always enjoy your video's. Greetings from Belgium. 🤗
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! SGTC must be thrilled too 😉
Well done Sian you must have steam coming out of your sewing machine! Love the seashell skirt, but the straighter ones look great on you too.
Great makes! Love that u French seam things. How do u French seam princess seams.
As always all your makes are fabulous!
Goodness! All fabulous. How do you find the time......??!!

Cheese shirt looks amazing!!! If I came across it RTW I'd buy it in every colour lol
I am beyond impressed with the amount you have made - and everything looks so lovely.
You look brilliant in those tight jeans, I wish I could wear things like that......(I am too short and just look like an inverted triangle!)
Cathy.
Hi Sian. I love the green floral you wore before the 4 skirts. What is it please? Rayon? Where did you get it? Thanks. Btw I think that and also the Eve dress are wonderful on you.

I cut 4 yolks instead of two 😊 the rayon did roll up to fit inside them but it was a tight squeeze 😂
lol. Limit yourself to ‘one more’ Oh my sweet summer child ❤
I love the Vogue 8825 dress on you 😍 I know I've said it many times, but I really think you see yourself differently from how people see you - I like the more bum hugging stuff on you (this is such an asset, you just don't appreciate your shapely bum enough). Do you have a tutorial on French Seams?
Tunisian Crochet World watch the 6696 sew-a-long I French seam everything in that including the pockets and sleeves 😊
If you are going to get anymore of the Kaffe Fasset fabric you need to do that soon as Free Spirit is no more and it will be very hard to find it, and at a price you like.
All the pretties! You were very busy. This was part one of my well-earned after work entertainment, now on to part 2. Somebody mentioned April plans?
I will send you more of the octopus fabric when I get a chance. I am moving right now and a lot of other things going on.
Mary please don't worry about it I know you have an incredibly hectic time going on at the moment! The project you and Mum have dreamed up sounds like so much fun can't wait to see what fabrics and picture you send and then to see what Mum creates with it 😊 exciting.
What pattern is the 5 paneled scuba skirt
Sian who is small girl type creature you keep mentioning?
If you watch the weekend waffle video Small Girl Type Creature (my niece) makes an appearance (as does Big Bird aka her Mum) 😊
🐝
Until you told me it was a pyjama top I thought it was an everyday top and brill...so you could wear it out..no prob
