      Thanks for comment and question. KTM bracket pretty good. I have tried brackets for a few different bikes now. Can’t say that it’s the beat out there but perfectly functional and practical. Some vibrations and shakes when off road but that’s expected off road. For road riding as a good as any other out there. Ride safe 👍🏼

    Hi Billy!
    It seems that you are doing this helpfull work on a 1290 sadv r 2019. Do you know if is the same on 1290 sadv s of 2018? I'm asking this because I've seen another tutorial that explain I have to remove all the headlight to connect acc2 to my gps.
    Thanks in advance!

    • @BillysBikeAdventures
      @BillysBikeAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi thee. Thanks for watching and your question! To be honest I don't know. but in thinking it through and the location of where I found the ACC cables, it may be that removing the headlight may be an alternative route to the cables. Having said that, I would still prefer to access the cables via the route i had done. Sorry I could not be more help. Cheers Billy

    Do you know the rating for Acc2? As I understand the Acc2 is only 1 amp and exceeding that will blow the electronics module output.
    You power it from Acc1 through a relay controlled by Acc2. Not sure of the year model this applies to. I see your manual says 10A, what year is it? Also the part of the switched output is powered through the 10A fuse but this does not mean that the output is not 1 amp.
    There is no fuse between the module and Acc2.

    • @BillysBikeAdventures
      @BillysBikeAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David. Thanks for your question. The GPS device only draws about 0.5 (0.6/.07 tops). So 1A sufficient. I don't have anything else connected to the AAC2. I use that one due to it being switched where as the ACC1 is permanent live. If you are concerned about the power exceeding that then you can use a relay connected to ACC1, switched using ACC2, to work around that. Hope that helps. Ride safe Billy

    • @RoadKing05FLHR
      @RoadKing05FLHR 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BillysBikeAdventures good deal.
      I have been researching this a bit. The newer bikes may have a relay already on Acc2 anyway. I don't know the rated amps but Acc1 and Acc2 are on a 10 amp fuse.
      The repair service manual for your bike will either have Acc1 listed on fuse 2 or like mine and yours will have Acc1 and Acc2 listed. On the later I believe it already has a protection relay and should carry the same amps as Acc1.
      I checked the 2016 1290 manual and it had no fuse on Acc2 where my 2019 has both Acc on fuse 2 like yours.
      Regards

    I've found that those connectors come in different sizes. What size fits the ACC2?

    • @BillysBikeAdventures
      @BillysBikeAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a good question. I just checked the ones I have and unable to see an identifier for it. If my memory serves me right I believe that I went to the shop and purchased the one that looked like the best fit. I did measure the female ACC2 connector to ensure a best purchase. Not sure that will help. Good luck. Billy

      May be easier to pull the seat (rear) off and check those since they're easier to get to. They are bundled in the tail section. Some guys will actually use the rear ones for running power to the front.

    With ACC 1, once the ignition is off, the garmin will turn off. You won't drain the battery. Only if a device is connected directly to battery will the battery drain. Switchable means you can switch a device off while the bike is running (like heated grips with a switch). Not switchable means, you cannot switch off a device while the bike is running.

    • @BillysBikeAdventures

      Hi MotoRisin. Thanks for your message. I thought the 2018 1290 ACC1 was a permanent live. My mistake if that is the case. Cheers. Stay safe. Billy

    • @KTMK73
      @KTMK73 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BillysBikeAdventures Hi Billy. Some people are saying it is but theoretically it does not make sense. When you turn off your ignition, you now have an open circuit to the entire charging system so nothing is live other than the fan on liquid cooled bikes. I'm gonna do some testing and see but it makes no sense. Only devices directly connected to battery would be live when the ignition is switched off.
