Indeed. That is correct. If you Connect positive and negative straight to the battery. The TomTom could drain your battery when you forget to take the TomTom of the bike when it is off. And also when the TomTom is off the holder. The 2 connectors on the holder could short cut the battery when it is raining.

Why did you not just connect straight iunto the battery, wouldn't that have been easier? Or is there a power cut-off in the backlight? Is it because there's a chance of battery discharging while idle ? I'm asking because I fitted a GPS into my car battery directly and works perfectly fine. I now also have a motorbike, the Suzuki GXSR specifically and I was thinking of fitting the same GPS tracker model into the Bike by connecting the same way as I did with my car.
Hello, on my previous bike, i connected it straight to the battery (with a fuse) but when it was raining, there was water between the to connections where you charge your tomtom. So if you connect directly to the battery (with a fuse) you also need to buy a plastic cap to cover the charge station when the tomtom is not mounted on it. And you also may not forget to take the tomtom away when the bike is standing still in the garage because it will drain the battery.

Now i made my navi connection with the light for plate and from there i'm not sure, while navi battery is totally empty, i can not be shure is it enough strong electricity in the cable to charge it, because navi don't show charging when i put the contact on of the bike. Hello, i have connected 3 bikes this way, and everytime it worked perfect, with the tomtom rider you see in the video. Now i have bought a honda cb650r from 2023 that i am rebuilding and i am going also to connect it the way i showed in the video. I think the best thing you can do is to measure out of the pins from the holder from your gps is giving 12 or 13 Volts. The cable is thick enough to give enough power. So i think you are not getting 12Volts on your gps holder, or the gps is not working fine. Good luck. Greetings jan
Dag Jan, ik heb mijn TomTom Rider ook proberen aan te sluiten op de verlichting van de kenteken, maar als ik het contact opzet dan werkt dit lampje niet meer en geeft mijn motor ook een storing voor dit lampje, de gps laad ook niet op. Het gaat om een led lampje, ligt hier misschien het probleem? Bij mijn oude motor ging dit probleemloos, nu heb ik een speed triple 1200 rs van 2022, enig idee wat het probleem zou kunnen zijn?
Hallo, mijn cbr is van 2019 en hier geen problemen. Bij mij heeft de vorige eigenaar een korte nr plaat houder gemonteerd, en deze heeft ook een led verlichting. Dus daar zal het al niet aan liggen. Ik vermoed dat uw moto mss al met een soort canbus werkt. Je ziet het soms op ledjes staan als je ze los koopt. No canbus error. Dus ik vermoed dat het probleem daar ligt. Mss best aftakken net achter het contact dan. Groeten Jan.

Because every light or electrical part on the motorcycle is fused from the factory. And the earthing is not secured but the + pole is. And I measured out that this wire is the positive side.
@@HaziziRikkert the entire frame of the bike is negative. So indeed the black wire you can connect to the negative side of the battery. Without a fuse. Only the positive side needs a fuse
