And most don't realize that those few fps will come as everything meshes together...just like horsepower on a new engine build! Anything rebuild right has to be broke in for optimal performance! Great video Paul James from Michigan
Excellent info. It is shocking how many commenters and even creators say and show things with authority that make no sense from machinist or engineering viewpoint. Yet they call others purist, close minded, or greedy because they lack insight. Wish you were able to make more videos.
Thanks! After uploading I thought of two or three things I didn't mention. The main thing I wanted to convey was the inside diameter growth with compression. I plan on doing a couple of more.
Thanks for the informative video Pall, Many of the things you show I have herd talked about but to see them helps the understanding of what it all means and how they affect the firing cycle. With Malvern show being canceled this year, I very much missed being able to visit with you and your wife. Great choices of music on the intro and exit of your videos, nice soothing and relaxing, while enjoying some great airgun pictures.
@@PaulWattsSpringGunning thank you very much, yes and truth it was all built by me and my brother, the walls are lined with the doors of a building, the idea is to do a lot with little,to be perfect, it was to have my carbines tuned for you.
Very informative. It's the details that matter. I've owned four rifles and an ancient Beeman P1 that Paul has tuned. Wouldn't have them any other way. Not done yet.
Always nice to get a glimpse inside the shop and glean some understanding. You're getting pretty good at producing those videos. Clear audio & good shot angles👍 Nice side-lever Diana's in your slideshow🤩. Do you recommend a caliber for bench rested target shooting a full power 52/56? I hear .20 is a good compromise for trajectory and bucking wind at distance.
Thanks! Audio is a problem in a noisy shop. I had to turn everything off in the shop. Even the AC upstairs. If I don't the microphone amplifies it if I quit talking. Sometimes there is no way of getting around it without upgrading software or equipment. On that rifle/rifles I prefer larger calibers. That's my flavor of ice cream anyway. You may like something different. Best to get all of them. ;-)
Love watching your videos Paul, I bet Your Rifles can match or even be better than the Sandwell Field Sports Models that Tony tunes over in the UK, How does one go about getting one of your Rifles ?...greetings from South Africa
There is always six to half a dozen ways to achieve almost the same results. Everyone has their own way of doing things. I try real hard to not make any direct contrast between what I do and someone else. To be honest I don't know what others are offering or doing. Over the years I've learned to do my own thing and try and do it the best I can. The guy that sells himself as the best or better than is usually relying on that to cover their own shortcomings. I just don't want to go there. I've never had anyone try and import anything I've done to South Africa. I know there are companies that will most likely do it for you but you would need to find them in your country and get the specifics from them. Others have used courier services out of the US but I've never been involved. I've just sent the packages to their US address and they took it from there. I hope to have some ready before the end of the year provided life doesn't throw me any curve balls. Many Thanks, Paul
It's my understanding that scragging is done when you are wanting certain stress levels measured to ensure viability in a certain application. Specific measurements are done to test the results. I'm just showing the initial setting of the spring to normalize it's free length and ID so parts made to the individual spring will be in tolerance.
I don't have the time for the most part. I'm finishing up what is here and will just sell rifles when completed. Don't know when that will be. I have to finish up what is here first.
Hello Mr. Paul I'm Agus From Indonesia I have Spring air riffle Diana 23 and Mainspring has been struggling for a long time ... can you help me to buy it can you help me to buy and provide recommendations where to buy it

That's it. Just a little bit of shooting to bring things where they need to be.

I'm going to try and get some more up. Things have been rough the last two years. Thanks for the encouragement!
Another very interesting video Paul, not seen another on pre setting of the main spring read about it but to see it in action is an eye opener.

@@PaulWattsSpringGunning look forward to it.
Hi Paul,
This video helps me understand our conversation the other day about springs.
Steve
Glad it does. I almost didn't put this clip up. Glad I did. Looking forward to our next talk!.
I have two PW rifles. HW 95 Super Bull .25 cal and an R9 .20 cal w/custom(lefty) stock. I love them both. Thanks for your passion my brother!

Thanks for the info Paul. Learned a little something new today. I always thought those spring were pre-set.

It would be a good idea.
Really great video!
Thank you!

The settling or setting of a spring prior to use is called SCRAGGING.

Do u sale the springs I need tow
Do you sell springs? I need one for a walther terrus 22
Sorry, I'm not a retailer. I don't know what would work in your rifle or I'd recommend something.
Do you still do work for people ?
I don't have the time for the most part. I'm finishing up what is here and will just sell rifles when completed. Don't know when that will be. I have to finish up what is here first.
The tighter the gide more accurate yes it have to be snug .

I don't have any but the mainspring for the HW45 air pistol will work. I'm not sure who ships to Indonesia though. Hope this helps.
