Making a lot of good points here Greg. Just want to touch a bit on the geography point a bit - I think overall that's been a major weakness of current Siege. It's cool to get more European countries in Sweden and Portugal, but getting more revisits of countries I imagine is disappointing a lot of people. If you rewind, especially back to when it was two operator drops, people were always incredibly hyped to have operators from their countries dropping, and to have their local special forces highlighted. I feel that this geography aspect has been significant de-emphasized and was one of the big let-downs of the Harry era. More and more operators had no connection whatsoever to major special forces groups, and were more defined by their gimmick - they have a specific disability, or identity or profession. And these can all be key parts of a character, that's true. But I'm getting a sense that for a lot of players, having a mercenary who just happens to be from their country isn't really the same as having the "best of the best" of their country and its special forces sent as a representative to the "best of the best" in Rainbow. It's impossible to verify this but it also seems that they're deliberately trying to avoid being "controversial" by ignoring certain countries. Israel is never going to be in the game because they always trot out "well, Ash is our Israeli operator" - but I think we know why that is. But there are a lot of countries that have significant populations where terrorism is also a daily part of life who seem like much more natural fits for "getting the bad guys". A lot of these countries do have controversy in how their politics regarding terrorism work, but, well, they wanted operator infighting right? Notable huge current gaps for operators would be Pakistan, Egypt, Indonesia, Philippines, Iraq and Nigeria. Within Europe itself based just on military spending, Greece, Turkey and Ukraine (phew the controversy!) are also notably missing. Hopefully with Sweden, Finland isn't far behind either. So probably a little bit of a long spiel about the importance of fresh geography in getting people hyped about new seasons. But at least it's not talking about the frost mats, lol (which you are spot on about)
They really need to sack up and bring in someone who worked with Mossad. Those people are legit scary and having someone on Team Rainbow/one of the 4 squads would be great. Especially considering the amount of things that go on in that part of the world. Controversial or not: counter terror and special operations do dirty work in dirty places and deal with dirty people. Also spot on about the gimmicky identities and phoned in shenanigans and what not. Sticking to tactics and legit CTUs (especially from not as well known countries) would have been the best course of action so hopefully they start
I haven't played Siege in a long while and these changes make me want to jump back in, it all seems really promising, the accessibility features in particular are huge
I’d like it if you expanded on what you mentioned about the new character’s sentiment being “something the military doesn’t want to talk about”. Either in a video or a community post would be cool
I do hope they will finally expand on PvE side, because that's what R6 was originally about. And also, i think Ubisoft need to start relearn how to make dark setting, like cmon, last serious game was Watch Dogs 1(it was great, and it's still is); but i do see potential.
Why Frost rework instead of Blackbeard :(( I don't hate the Frost rework massively though I do think it may be frustrating in those rare instances where you or a teammate can't right away secure the kill, but the person hit by the mat isn't near another teammate. Frankly I prefer the notion that if a player hits a mat, they deserve to be punished by being locked in place, and Frost/her teammates in turn are already punished for poor coverage of her traps if a teammate is able to revive the trapped player.
Because it required zero new assets to make. A BB remake would be a total overhaul on the level of Tachanka, this was probably doable in a single workday by one guy.
The Frost Rework is a good change but not done to the extreme is NEEDS to be at. Like you said, it doesn’t punish enough. I think it should have a Damage over Time effect like Lesion mines if you self-revive. It wouldn’t be unbalanced as a Frost Mat is a huge target to shoot at, isn’t invisible, and you are making the conscious decision to risk the self-revive penalties.
This is a very big year for Siege. The best thing for me is the new narrative direction. When Harry first made his appearance, I was interested because they said they were going to humanize the operators and create more context about their pasts and problems, which didn't really happen (?). Most of the things Harry did was putting one grumpy person against another so the story seems like there was something going on, but it really was just a highschool drama phase. Having actual bad guys with a big bad again is really good for cohesion in the storyline, and overall it's easier for casual players to understand the context of the current Rainbow Six. I suppose they looked at Modern Warfare and Warzone having the good ol' military-esque story and lore made it one of the most popular piece of media the past 5 years, so they wanna jump in on it as well.
I think the frost rework it's literally going back to the zofia self revive, if you can get up again and shoot again in a 2 vs 1 then it doesn't matter the move reduction and blood trace, it's a huge nerf to frost when numbers matters
Now that the new lore is out, all Ubisoft has to do is release a PVE event/campaign with story elements surrounding Deimos (which could now make use of the Y8S4 AI upgrade) and replace the engine (hopefully before year 18 lol) and the predictions I made on the Siege 2 video will all be true
All the changes are so good latelly, buffing some attachments and making some guns busted* again, nad making others more usefull. Hope they added more sight models, grips, laser sights, and more "gamy" features of personalization
@@Tioynux I have a decent amount of black ice, but sometimes the barrel should be blue, the sight should be white, and the grip could be either, but as is, it's all white, which doesn't look bad, but it's noticeable on a lot of them
I'm glad you mentioned surya gates since there's not too many ways to counter them(apart from expending util) since most other gadgets can be taken out with a bullet
I agree with you on the frost mat, but not totally. If a person is able to res themselves, then they res themselves. If a teammate is able to res them, they have to take the time and the manpower to go res them, overall nerfing frost (not that people really play her totally for her gadget). But youre right -- if youre getting ressed, thats a skill issue on the frosts part.
I really do hope they add a difficultly of defender playlist where there is just a random spawn peeking ai. Just hope if they add it it’ll be customizable
When I first saw this trailer, I was really hoping the bad guy was going to be a character from one of the past Rainbow six games. It would have been awesome of one of the guys from Ravenshield, for example, was the one behind that mask.
19:09 I always only played casual with friends I really liked that chill half competitive way of playing I very rarely played ranked at all lol Rly interesting video tho, exciting
I’m excited to see what Siege does in the future, gameplay and narrative. Bot support is huge, since the game can be played when the servers shut down.
Really excited about this years Portugal Operator. Would love you would take a crack at the possibilities gunwise and such if you'd find amusing. Gl mate.
i think as far as the cinematic and the lore that came with it, the reason not a lot of people are talking about it is because honestly the lore so far has been boring a drip fed for so long. When this game first started we got the cool little intro videos for each op but we had no idea why we were playing these rounds. Why were counter terrorists going against each other over and over. Then we found out it was some kind of game or simulation for sport and training but even then it wasn't really explained how or why, just glossed over. Then the game became an anime and they switched to really badly animated cinematics for a while that were just horrible to look at and showed even less. Mind you, this has gone on for 7 years now and now were just getting some kind of conflict and return the what we thought the lore of the game would lead into? Why care at this point?
I think the most crucial question that we're all forgetting here is what's gonna happen to the Harry skits? Will he appear as a transparent color-corrected blue png now? We need answers Greg.
Devil is in the details with those shield changes. Saying some generic stuff like “they can look around now” or “they can knock people over” sound like great changes but that free head movement won’t matter if your head is exposed and that knock down is just a straight up nerf (and a crippling one if the shield can’t ADS before their opponent can). We need to know more specifics before shield players can be interested in this.
Gregor, what is your opinion on the state of the nades in the game? Sledge, Glaz, Iana and nokk, out of 34 operators only 4 have them. Meanwhile, 17 operators have claymores, that's half of the roster💀
@@edmxero2029 then why say "why does team rainbow struggle to acquire frag grenades but they can get everyone 2 claymores" the sole reason you would make that statement is because of some form of realism.
A couple things about the narrative. 1: I hope they didn’t actually kill off Thermite, Sledge, etc… in a cutscene, and 2: I hope this is all building to a single player game that isn’t extraction
The whole Frost rework concept, should be just a finka buff I think it makes perfect sense , make finka a direct counter so that she can allow teammates to self revive with her boost only (counter-able by mute jammers placed next to frost maps) while also punishing attackers who got in trap by making them bleed and slowed (finka boost is increasing your heart rate at the end of the day) So here we are Buffing mute and finka While also not nerfing frost so hard If you really wanna play of frost mats you either ban finka or pick finkas hard counters (smoke, pulse) And if you didn’t bring finka you have to deal with frost the old fashioned way .Attacker repick is a thing for a reason now
“We trained a bot using CoconutBrah in the Ubisoft Studio Dungeon while feeding him nothing but Dino nuggets and gfuel to help our players git gud at Siege for this next year”
I love Siege, but haven’t played it in well over a year because (I play on console) the entire game was overrun by MnK smurf accounts in every other game I played, casual or ranked. The announcement of Mousetrap literally got me to reinstall the game and I played a bit and not only had fun, but I did really well too. Guess I’ve still got it.
I was confused not angry just confused about the rework but then I realised yeah I've been in that situation because my teammates are busy running at a Tachanka so at the cost of reducing speed for a small bit then yeah that would be great (might be an idea that finka clears the affliction or at least at a faster pase) its no different to the Rook revive the attackers almost always get their armour and can just hide behind a wall and pick themselves up while their team defends them without the attacker hearing the team revive cue meaning that there doesn't need to be 3 people to get one player who could all get grenaded its something that doesn't rely on finka to do like the finka pickup does you don't need "nanomachines son" to get out just a working pair of hands, a pulse and a heartbeat
I am not happy with the road map. I am a PC player so all the console changes have no effect on my experience in the game. (mousetrap, controller layout) I play the game for years so most of the beginner stiff dos nothing for me. (beginner challenges, playable tutorials) The target modes in the shooting range are something that should have been in the game for more than a few years. Valorant had it from release and we are supposed to be hyped about something like that??? The "immersive reload" is just the removal of a broken mechanic. I hoped that we would get something like the quick reload and tactical reload from Ready or Not or Tarkov. They WILL NOT have the defender AI playlist ready in year 8. It will just get delayed in year 9 and get released in a broken state or even later still. The frost rework is just not necessary since like you already sad a good placed frost mad gives a very low chance of revive or self revive. The shield rework could be nice but is pretty obviously in a very early state. The observation blocker can be interesting in games where the attackers drone........... I feel like that a new operator per season is not the right way to keep this game interesting. We have so many operators now that can only effect the game they are actually picked in. In the "old days" a new operator had a way higher chance of getting picked which would have a way bigger impact on the season as a hole. The fact that we are not getting any new guns only amplifies this problem. I would like more changes to the more basic mechanics in the game. Magazines that keep there round count and just get placed pack into the pouch for later use. (for the gun nerds) The correct operation of the guns. Different reload animations that you can choose from. I want the angled grip to do something.... But i am no game developer. I am sure that there a many good ideas to make the game gridier and more down to earth. I like that the devs are FINALY at least try to backtrack that olympic sports from space with paintball BS. But I am not trying to fool myself. We are talking about the same team of developers that tried to remove the skulls from the game for the chines marked because it was too violent for the CCP. My little rant is not directed at you Gregor. You can probably change about the direction of the game just as much as i can. I just had to voice my frustration about the entire situation. Which kind regards your friendly brotherhood Potato!
loved the direction ubisoft is heading right now, would be nice to see some new people in the game. The only thing i think ubisoft needs to do right now to make it even better is change the gunplay, the semi random recoil is great the gun mechanics are good but since right now its so utility oriented (great imo) i think they need to make the ads a bit faster and the recoil on guns a bit lower, so that after it is all said and done with util it doesn't feel like a chore to deal with gun handling once i actually engage in a fight because thats what a lot of people i know dislike, taking too long to get into ads and recoil going to narnia(at least for the first few bullets, the new system is cool since you're going for luck if you need 30 rounds) on entry frag operators before it felt like deathmatch but now that the meta is much different i feel like it won't result in the same outcome
i want to see them put in realistic ammo counts. throw away a mag with 15 bullets, you should lose those bullets. make you think twice before pre-firing every angle
Big fan or the return to tactical stuff. Left siege for awhile because of the stadium baloney, but this looks promising. Though I must say, the two most recent defenders (Azumi and Solis I think) are pretty fun to play. Unexpected comeback in my book.
okay so im trying to master all of the legacy operators from sledge and smoke to IQ and bandit. I'm doing that so I can see what playstyle and role works best with me. is that a good advice or bad. if good, any helpful tips would be much appreciated..
IDK about going all the way to year 18... I feel like we're gonna need a sequel or a relaunch or something at that point. Glad they're taking it seriously, but that's a little much.
what i’m wondering is if the beginner challenges are going to be for only players who download after the new season or if they’ll be available for people who had the game for a couple months to a year
Don't mind the frost rework as it's pretty much not going to effect her. But Blackbeard needs a rework Grim is pretty much useless in terms of the gadget he has his guns are ok but I don't think oh I have to move from this position when facing grim. I hope they make the shield users to be decent and not in the current clunky state. Something I wonder is what about the rework pulse operator who uses a p90 and scans for gadgets like iq, she's either useless or carrying. What's everyone's take on that op
I don’t know if I missed something, but when are you dropping the defender tier list? I was really interested in seeing that one and you said it would be soon after the attack one.
I still believe Ding could be Deimos because he's gone insane for whatever reason and he's trying to "prove" that Rainbow is worthy of being called Rainbow. Him calling them "The fucking Ice Capades" means that he thinks all Rainbow has become is a troupe. And I mean if we're being honest, since Shifting Tides (which is when they made it clear they were going to focus more on story IMO) that's kind of what they are. The only* cinematics we've got between then and this season where they fought anyone but other Rainbow members were in Vector Glare and Article 12 (I think?). In his mind he's putting Rainbow to the ultimate test, himself. Obviously that motivation could apply to anyone who was on Rainbow, but I can't see anyone but Ding who could realistically take on all of Rainbow alone. I'm excited to see where they go next with the story though *I guess you can count Neon Dawn but that was a flashback and took place before Article 12
"we're shooting bad guys again" that's how far siege fell man. Well, Year 8 looks like the death of casual play for siege. all these changes only help comp and ranked they make casual matches much worse. I cant see siege surviving pass year 10, there's nothing really left that hasn't been done to death at this point
The frost change is terrible. Just like when they wanted to make smoke take damage by his own smoke… and drone after death. I hope they change their mind..
It has to be Walker or someone that is part of the wolves from Ghost Recon: same mask, cape and pistol... if its not then Ubi need to have a word with themselves
I can understand most of the shield changes, but I'm not a big fan of the oryx-style melee. They're consistently some of the worst performing attackers out there, why nerf the melee that both Monty and Blitz rely so heavily on? Also, if Ubi is moving towards shields being used for protection, they need to fix some issues with them - most importantly the ability to hit the legs if you shoot at the bottom of a crouched shield (that they showed off in the Y8 reveal), but also that tiny pixel of your head that peeks out over the top of the shield. We've still got about a year to go until these changes hit, hopefully they change some to give shields a proper place in the game rather than their current roughly -3.00% win delta each season.
4:34 I feel like that’s an issue with a lot of discourse these days, where “he has one remotely good idea so whatever he does is good” and completely ignore that *how* someone does things is just as important as *why*
doubtful theyd be able to flip clark or chavez to a villain since that would be like flipping jack ryan in tom's legacy. Ubi had a license to use the name rainbow but I'd imagine they don't have final narrative say. More likely it's the guy from patriots since that was a character already "developed" but shelved with no baggage to the community / fans.
Worst takes ive heard on the frost nerf. If somone gets stuck in it before, you can wait for their teammate to come over then kill both of them. Now you can’t. She’s wayyy less appealing now.
Why don't you do more operator concepts on tiktok? I really liked your Egyptian op because you did actual research and not "haha pharaoh go brr" and i would love to see more❤

Israel defo shouldn’t have an operator lmfaoo, what would there ability be? Catch rocks and throw missiles lmfaoo
Why Frost rework instead of Blackbeard :((
I don't hate the Frost rework massively though I do think it may be frustrating in those rare instances where you or a teammate can't right away secure the kill, but the person hit by the mat isn't near another teammate.
Blackbeard doesnt really need a rework, he is fine the way he is, if you play right.
@@texanwokey8366 no, he really does. He is one of the worst operators in the game.
Let me pick which attachment skins I want on each one, maybe I want a blue sight and a red grip, I know it's small but I personally would love that
@@raiderjr99 That could be so good.
I am not ignoring the colours only on some OPERATORS or only on guns, let me flex out my dedication!!!!
@@Tioynux I have a decent amount of black ice, but sometimes the barrel should be blue, the sight should be white, and the grip could be either, but as is, it's all white, which doesn't look bad, but it's noticeable on a lot of them
Machine learning trying to set up a bombsite is something I really want to see
I'm glad you mentioned surya gates since there's not too many ways to counter them(apart from expending util) since most other gadgets can be taken out with a bullet
Great to finally be back on siege after such a long break. (1yr+) and getting this quality content to keep me up to date
I agree with you on the frost mat, but not totally. If a person is able to res themselves, then they res themselves. If a teammate is able to res them, they have to take the time and the manpower to go res them, overall nerfing frost (not that people really play her totally for her gadget). But youre right -- if youre getting ressed, thats a skill issue on the frosts part.
yes but it is also good thing that you don't need a second person to help you and get the game into 3 v 5
@@gdlghdghslghsdghksdghk you should go back and read my comment.
I really do hope they add a difficultly of defender playlist where there is just a random spawn peeking ai. Just hope if they add it it’ll be customizable
Y’all is siege gonna have the first AI’s that team kill?
When I first saw this trailer, I was really hoping the bad guy was going to be a character from one of the past Rainbow six games. It would have been awesome of one of the guys from Ravenshield, for example, was the one behind that mask.
Greg’s level of chill really is something else
19:09 I always only played casual with friends
I really liked that chill half competitive way of playing
I very rarely played ranked at all lol
Rly interesting video tho, exciting
I’m excited to see what Siege does in the future, gameplay and narrative.
Bot support is huge, since the game can be played when the servers shut down.
Really excited about this years Portugal Operator. Would love you would take a crack at the possibilities gunwise and such if you'd find amusing. Gl mate.
Wait, if controller gets mapping, does that mean we’ll finally get to lean without aiming???
Yes
i think as far as the cinematic and the lore that came with it, the reason not a lot of people are talking about it is because honestly the lore so far has been boring a drip fed for so long.
Brava is going to be a monster in execute setups.
We need to know more specifics before shield players can be interested in this.
i don’t want another 10 years i want a siege 2
Gregor, what is your opinion on the state of the nades in the game? Sledge, Glaz, Iana and nokk, out of 34 operators only 4 have them. Meanwhile, 17 operators have claymores, that's half of the roster💀
I complain to my cats about this all the time. Why does team Rainbow struggle to acquire frag grenades but they can get everyone 2 claymores
@@edmxero2029 wait till you figure out that people don't respawn after a round!
@@Sarahsqueak what are you trying to say? Realism isnt the point.
@@edmxero2029 then why say "why does team rainbow struggle to acquire frag grenades but they can get everyone 2 claymores" the sole reason you would make that statement is because of some form of realism.
@@Sarahsqueak no, it's from a gameplay standpoint.
id low key love to see siege get the same treatment as like csgo in its ability to be around forever and remain relevant
A couple things about the narrative. 1: I hope they didn’t actually kill off Thermite, Sledge, etc… in a cutscene, and 2: I hope this is all building to a single player game that isn’t extraction
The whole Frost rework concept, should be just a finka buff
I think it makes perfect sense , make finka a direct counter so that she can allow teammates to self revive with her boost only (counter-able by mute jammers placed next to frost maps) while also punishing attackers who got in trap by making them bleed and slowed (finka boost is increasing your heart rate at the end of the day)
So here we are
Buffing mute and finka
While also not nerfing frost so hard
If you really wanna play of frost mats you either ban finka or pick finkas hard counters (smoke, pulse)
And if you didn’t bring finka you have to deal with frost the old fashioned way .Attacker repick is a thing for a reason now
Damn, is this actually going to be a really good year? Gadget and storyline changes seem cool
Whe need a blackbeard rework. Not that shitty frost rework
Edit:ok i watched the entire video, the rework isnt that bad
greg i would like to confirm, us brazilians love our FALs. Good job on the correct info
@10:05 in that case then they also need to go to 'mag swapping' a la Insurgency sandstorm. IE, no magic ammo pool that tops off each and every mag.
Hey Gregor question, what do you think about operator banns on console vs PC.
Shield rework means confirmed first (real) new shield op in 8 years!!!
*very* excited for this upcoming year of Siege.
a lot of good and promising changes coming.
Evil bad dude in the Closing Session seems like a darker Tom Reed
Also holy shit Ghost in the Shell image curtains
I cant believe siege is almost a decade old game. It's still alive and kicking too!
10 more years of Assassins creed game/sound engine is a negative Ghostrider from me.
15:59 ye. As a frost main it makes me sad but tbh it’s not as much of a nerf as some people are screaming about
i kinda is tho you can self revive in a frost mat
thank you for pointing out what the nerf is, like I had 0 idea what I was referring to lmao
The one thing I'll miss from new how to operator Gregor videos is the Harry bits now that he's dead.
It was good while it lasted.
I am not happy with the road map.
I am a PC player so all the console changes have no effect on my experience in the game. (mousetrap, controller layout)
I play the game for years so most of the beginner stiff dos nothing for me. (beginner challenges, playable tutorials)
The target modes in the shooting range are something that should have been in the game for more than a few years.
Greg 2033 👴🏻: hey guy we are makeing the 100th operator how to
IDK about going all the way to year 18... I feel like we're gonna need a sequel or a relaunch or something at that point. Glad they're taking it seriously, but that's a little much.
20:55 spawnpeek gpt would be awesome
what i’m wondering is if the beginner challenges are going to be for only players who download after the new season or if they’ll be available for people who had the game for a couple months to a year
He better not fuckin be Ding Chavez. That's called character assassination
The frost rework is terrible, and the consulate rework is awful. The map is fine. Changes do not equal improvements. Another Siege L
You haven't even seen the rework genius.
@@GGE ?
@@GGE forgot bro said this. 🤡
Wow. this made me interested in getting back into Siege.
I don’t know if I missed something, but when are you dropping the defender tier list? I was really interested in seeing that one and you said it would be soon after the attack one.
I had COVID
@@GGE My apologies. I thought you said you’d make it before the COVID/ Flu event happened. Thank ya for answering.
Ah hell nah, Greg forgot about Nøkk being danish
I'm excited to see where they go next with the story though
*I guess you can count Neon Dawn but that was a flashback and took place before Article 12
Spawnpeeking and teabagging AI would be hilarious
Harry is ice fucking cold man "now if you don't mind I find you exceedingly fucking boring."
The story trailer seems more like a commentary on the state of what siege is right now.
The thought of getting spawn peeked by a literal bot programmed to mimic player behavior is hilarious.
Yeah for Blitz and Fuze their shields barely even protect them as is. I HOPE they’ll address the issues shields face but I really doubt it.
4:34
I feel like that’s an issue with a lot of discourse these days, where “he has one remotely good idea so whatever he does is good” and completely ignore that *how* someone does things is just as important as *why*
The best timeline is the reveal that Deimos’ name is actually… TOM CLANCY
doubtful theyd be able to flip clark or chavez to a villain since that would be like flipping jack ryan in tom's legacy. Ubi had a license to use the name rainbow but I'd imagine they don't have final narrative say. More likely it's the guy from patriots since that was a character already "developed" but shelved with no baggage to the community / fans.
bad guy kinda reminds me of a hunter from the division
What day does this come out
In the video its 3 total observation blockers (1 placed 2 in inv) they will hopefully lowest it tho
they should just allow all types of scopes on all guns for just quick match, would bring back a lot of players n make quick match more fun
Worst takes ive heard on the frost nerf. If somone gets stuck in it before, you can wait for their teammate to come over then kill both of them. Now you can’t. She’s wayyy less appealing now.
what day does this come out ?
If the Portuguese operator doesn't have a g3 in their kit send it back. The most iconic rifle of our military by far
The crowd reaction to the Frost rework at the invitational was fucking diagusting. I was embarrassed to be in the stands at that moment.
I actualy thougth that the new bad guy was gabriel from rainbow six vegas
i think that if they added a single player "story" mode i wouldn't be mad
Another 10 years would need a R6 2 at some point
SHIELDS REVAMPS LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
siege needs a overhaul on a newer version of the engine
with new mechanics
I hoped they would nerf Blitz but they wouldn't. He's still gonna one tap you from melee but it will just take slightly more time
Why don't you do more operator concepts on tiktok? I really liked your Egyptian op because you did actual research and not "haha pharaoh go brr" and i would love to see more❤

I would consider myself a console casual to take this how you will. But I feel like brava can overshadow twitch. Why destroy enemy util when you can steal it? The F2? Well bravo's primarily gets that hefty 53 damage with the extended barrel. Plus a secondary shotgun. Seems like a fair trade.
I was wondering this too. Somewhat leans into dokkaebi too, with her being able to hack cameras.
