The fact that in 10 years the only time the attackers had the meta advantage was when an operator had headshot invulnerability and an operator with team wide wallhacks says it all about how defender sided the game is

Ubisofts next patch "Due to balancing concerns we have removed the defenders ability to have: sights. Due to our analysis of statistics we have decided to remove Defenders ability to aim down sights."
I liked 2020 R6 but understood the frustration. I played on a collegiate comp team and always ranked with a 5 stack. I loved the heavy team coordination bc it felt so god to get shit done. But if you have an incompetent teammate, it was frustrating (I also loved stratting, drawing up strats and seeing them work made the game sooooo much fun). When TDM meta came around, there was a lot more run around and gun set ups.
I will say, compared to the other patches in the past, this one seems to be a step in the right direction. Nothing seems over the top negative and the buffs seem pretty fun. Ela impacts, Echo ACOG, and 4 Banshees. I’m actually happy with this, and usually I’m pissed anytime patch notes drop.
ya i’m surprised people don’t like these, I think these are great changes. Melusi i’m a little confused on that change but I certainly don’t mind it. And I still play melusi
It’s insane that they made a big deal about bringing acogs back, so everyone gravitates to the defenders with acogs. The ubisoft sees that everyone is picking operators with acogs then gets mad they are getting picked too much and takes them away. I’m willing to bet by the end of this year no defenders will have acogs.
I like how they finally, after 6 years, noticed they went too far with Ela and still didn't bother to give her a substantial buff. Im on a pretty unpopular opinion that more buffs need to happen. I want to see way more versatile and strong operators on both sides. Nobody likes nerfs with one exception; when something is so oppressively strong, it's frustrating to even see it in game. If it's not at that point, it doesn't need a nerf imo. If there are plenty of strong operators with decent guns and decent gadgets, players will naturally do something different just for fun. Making patches for some vague goal of "balance" is not the right play and only serves to intensify the unhappiness of the playerbase. Ubisoft should really focus on balancing for fun, considering the vast majority of players aren't playing at the top ranks and are not esports players.
Bro at this point I don’t think buffing anyone is an unpopular opinion. Ubisoft only ever nerfs ops these days and inadvertently kill ops/push the meta by doing it. They don’t understand that removing attachments doesn’t solve the base problem behind why an operator is good or bad. Instead of trying to actually balance and create strong ops that are versatile, they’d rather strip everything to force you to play in the vision they created. They don’t like adaption from the community and would rather completely destroy a utility like nades because they had a skill gap. Cause god knows nerfing grenade damage through structures is just too much so fuck it let’s just destroy the cooking mechanic all together. Same thing with ads speed, movement speed, acog etc. they destroy base mechanics before putting any forethought into actual solutions.
@@VoicedAgateGotta be pretty quick to act on it though. Lesion makes a pretty good counter since shields reduce field of view and they flinch when they take damage and removing the needle makes them sit still and expose themselves.
in an environment where everyone has all the same 1x sights available, I believe siege players from our timeline would want certain guns to not have access to whatever is deemed the most clean sight out of the ones remaining
I really wish Ubi would use the test server as a way to try out dumb shit. Like giving melusi the TCSG or maybe giving ops a secondary shotty. The test server should be more than a preview for the new content.
there are a few operators that are perfect ubi, Ash, Buck, Echo. those are 3 versatile operators right now that feel amazing to play, the echo reworks is the most impressive thing ive seen ubi do, and i applaud them for that.
Remember how they reworked ACS12 from a buckshot gun to a slug shotgun? Why not make the same thing with Super90, that way we'd finally get another slug gun, and we'd give Melusi a ranged option, AND we could bring back the Sniper90 meme back from the dead all at the same time.
Like another comment said, I'd be interested in them doing a test period of no defenders having acogs at all, just to see how it shakes up the game/balancing They could return to it eventually, but I think that period would do a lot for the game
I wouldn't mind them experimenting with giving some current shotguns slugs maybe as an option like we do attachments where you can choose the ammo type and remove/reduce long range optics for most full auto high fire rate weapons on defense but keep them for single fire or really low fire rate weapons and maybe add them for some shotguns that would get slugs.
You can't run away from gunfights, it's part of the game. People need to accept that gun skill is as important as operator and map knowledge. So if someone has better mechanics, take the right kind of gunfight ffs. We don't need constant nerfs and scope nerfs. Wamai win rate wasn't even above 50 but somehow because people picked him a lot that's a problem and needs to lose his acog, nonstop hot potato with this sh*t
Then remove all acogs from defence, if someone has better mechanics, better map knowledge or knows how to pick advantageous gunfights, it doesn’t matter if they dont have acogs as they can work around that.
@maybeharold no the answer isn't nerfing defenders, so they never have a fair gun fight. All of the attack, have acogs and higher damage guns, not to mention drones. People simply need to get better at either taking gunfights or holding better angles or both. If someone dedicates enough time to be super good mechanically, they should shine against the lesser trained opponent naturally. It falls on the smarter player (either one) to adjust to playstyle or lose. That's what siege is all about. Timing is big
The issue with the game is ppl were so used to the 1.5 and just tdm meta that now that the devs r trying to actually fix the game and balance things the community is crying. And most of the complaining is coming from new gen ppl. Thats being said wamai should have neved had a magnifies optic in the first place.
My brain kept hyperfixating on giving melusi a slug shotgun because for many years I said they should turn the Super 90 into a slug shotty. And i feel that would be an appropriate change for the weapon being a callback to the old meme as well as giving frost and melusi new options. Frost has a pocket shotty for site setup now so the switch to slugs wouldn't be a loss Or the ideal option is to give us the option to change ammunition types on all shotguns, but that might be too much
100% agree. Keeps everything consistent and they then balance around gadgets (Ideally). Something that should also be noted is it reduces confusion for new or returning players. I remember when I was new I didn't understand why bandit had an acog but my favorite at the time, mute, did not.
@Neonlights115 fuck balance, having options of complimentary operator lineups with the rest used in pocket strats (Ying glaz etc) is more fun than nebulous slow gameplay where operator choice doesn't matter. Ubisoft isn't getting better at balancing operators as the game get bigger it's getting better at making more useless operators.
tbh id rather have acogs on everyone then only attacks, instead of getting rid of all of them on defense. Maybe best thing to do is to play into the ads % increase 1x and iron sights have. Maybe Iron sights give 25% speed increase and 1x give 15%. I think this would fix the issue people always complain that ubi does, nerfing "strong" ops instead of buffing "weak" ops. This allows more variety while not taking away what some people like.
Mute is already insane, Smg 11, one of the best shotty, gadget that counters 90% of attackers while also being wall denial, he dosent really need an acog, would it be really cool and fun? hell ya, would it be over powered? probably like his 1.5x when that was around.
I was always in favour of reworking sights in the game. They should all be 1x imo but have sights that don't block half your screen. The best example I cam gice is the deimos revolver scope. It feels really good to use his pistol without giving you any zoom. As long as therr are defenders who don't have acog they will get picked less. My main example for this is doc. If they remove his acog he is basically dead
I would be interested to see how the game would feel with the defenders going back to exactly how it was in 2020 but with the extra tools attackers have now. I think it would be a lot better because of the extra ways to destroy bulletproof utility, even if there’s so much of it.
I still miss the 1.5 scope i know it was op, but man it was so fun and felt so good to play with. Sure i got fried a bunch by better players but I fried a few 2 and at the end of the day it was FUN.
I vote we give every operator all sights, yes including acog, for their primaries, yes even shotguns cuz why the hell not. THEN balance every operator off of damage and their gadgets. Right now having an acog is too influential on whether an operator is picked or not
The best option is to give people more options rather then always have 5 clear choices (the 5 best defender/attacker) like fenrir is good for blinding the enemy team on common spots people push, so make mayber someone like ela not necessarily the same nor different, but another option that may not necessarily be 2000 times of a worse choice, especially with the impact change, elas 2ndary gadgets are fine, now what, id say all they need to do now is buff her ability and boom, another choice The game is so gunfight focused and yes, having good guns isnt bad, but we need it to be where fenrir may be the better choice, but ela is just a good 2nd choice
Maybe like the ksg from bo2 would work? That would follow your idea on pump slug? I’d personally enjoy something like that.. at least we wouldn’t have reload cancelling in siege lol
Defenders dont need an acog. There will still be a defender bias without it, but it encourages people to use more utility as opposed to who can spawn/pixel peak the best. Siege is a tactical shooter, tactics come first. While Im not saying we should have a utility meta again like we had with deployable shields everywhere but nowadays we have more options to combat that.
Would love to hear your thoughts on the expanded issue of scope balancing in siege beyond just the acog shuffle that they do. In my opinion I think it’s clear that they simply don’t want optics to be comfortable or precise in a way. What they seem to do is say “oh the holo A has a great reticle? 90% of players use this? Let’s make the reticle fat and less clear.” Same thing with the 1.5 they made it all fat to deter players from using it now. It’s weird because it seems like the only real reason behind it is because for whatever dumb ass reason they designed 12+ optics and want people to use them but the reality is nobody likes these wacky reticles and bulky housings. It still blows my mind that to this day the only “classic” red dot sight is locked behind warden pistol and ela/zof pistol, why can’t we get that sight for primary weapons? The only logical explanation I can see for that is because 99% of players would use it and Ubisoft doesn’t want player comfort lmao. I would love to see the option to take any 1x housing and customize it with any 1x reticle in the future.
I think is that they should give us new guns for all operators and make specific guns for new operators every season. Bring new guns for attackers and defenders that give a balanced advantage for all sides.
Hey, I just watched your other video for this balancing change. If you right click on the video for the presence/win rate distribution there should come a popup with the time control.
Its funny to me that bandit is so fundamental that he still has one of the best guns, 3 speed, and maybe the most important gadget on a bunch of sites.
I hope maybe one day they add an attacker with the hk416-C(jagers gun) with an acog, reduced recoil and added damage to the gun. Tbh I thought they were going to do that a long time ago with his gun tbh but I forget siege hates fun😂
Melusi only got the 4th banshee to soft the blow on the ACOG removal, it doesn't make sense for me. IMO Melusi should have only 3 gadgets, bc they are persistent until attackers deal with it. On the other side Ela should've got another mine instead
I’m back on console for the first time since 2019, I quit PC after Brutal Swarm (I was champ elo). Since Ela got impacts, I’ve played nothing but her in ranked. I’ve got a 1.3 K/D and a 63% W/L with her in mid plat, which is good considering again, I haven’t played with a controller since 2019. On any game.
unpopular opinion: They shouldn't try to make an asymmetrical game into a symmetrical one. Stop balancing attack based on defense. Attack should be stronger than defense and matches should be determined by who wins attacking more and to make it so that matches don't go on forever and make it symmetrical for both teams time should be a factor, if you won attack in 30 seconds you get more "points" than the team that took 2 mins to get in the building.....You are supposed to be an Anti T squad, the goal of the game should be to attack and enter the building.
IRL you wouldn't put a scop on a smg. I realize this isn't real, but the defenders are already so over powered. Hot take; take the scopes away from defense.
She had acog, and their guns are similar; Melusi brought a strong form of trap with the same weapon+ acog while Doc and Rook have acog and bring more of a supportive form of gadget
Hmm, guess I am in yue minority. I don't think any of the defenders should have magnified optics and they should be limited on attack. But as part of that if they gave the 1x optics a transparency to simulate both eyes being open while keeping the magnified optics solid I would see people gravitating towards the 1x sights.
Honestly makes sense and smgs should have a greater damage drop off so it takes more skill to spawn peak. Once spawn peaking is fixed a lot of maps people wouldn’t mind playing.
like i said on another comment tbh id rather have acogs on everyone then only attacks, instead of getting rid of all of them on defense. Maybe best thing to do is to play into the ads % increase 1x and iron sights have. Maybe Iron sights give 25% speed increase and 1x give 15%. Either way I think siege has come too far with op picks to be either LoL or CoD, i genuinely don't see a way to balance everything to satisfy either camp. Either way, the tactical shooter that started this game is now buried into the mud in order to entertain more people. Even if they manage to keep the game afloat, siege's potential is much higher but we'll never get there while the game tries to juggle everything siege currently is. Some attributes need to go to keep to the core concept of tactical strategy shooter.
When you mention stuff like fenrir and being able to destroy or deal with gadgets that give advantage to gunfights for defenders, we have characters like twitch that can destroy fenrir now but have been so nerfed into the ground with their guns that playing that character doesnt feel good at all. I don't think it's bad to have operators who's primary choice for pick is their gun. I think its a good way to balance your team with strong gadgets and strong guns, Ela was a monster back then and was gutted bc she had a 40 round rapid fire laser. If Ela's gadget AND gun feel bad, why is the operator even in the game?
What if time to kill was reduced by adding more HP to all characters & instead of playing ACOG hot potato every season, actually have a 1.25x scope, a 1.5x scope, & a 1.75x scope and actually buffing low tier ops to compete with the higher tier ops? Just food for thought. Seige 2 sounds nice about now.
i dont think changing the TTK is the way to go, alot of people like fast TTK, and increasing the TTK would encouraged the use of acogs even more because they make it easier to headshot for the insta kill
I don’t mind the balancing at the moment, but maybe because the amount of cheaters makes the game almost unplayable. I played 10 ranked games yesterday, 9 had cheaters, 2 had maciejay which had 4 streamers snipers, the 2 stream snipers on my team were racist, cheating and nazi(ism) for lack of a better way to describe it. I wasn’t playing ranked to play ranked, I was seeing how many games in a row I could find cheaters it was 6 until the 7th had none. I also queued to see if I couldn’t witness cheater battles (cheater versus cheater games)
as a hypothetical idea, what if, at the halfway mark of the game the attackers got a resupply on all their gear and gadgets. this would represent the attackers getting backup like they would in "real life". maybe even having the attackers health regenerate as long as they are outside the building or in a "secured" area (basically a room that has not had a defender in it for X amount of time) and the closer the time gets to 0 the better health regen would get making it harder and harder for the defenders to just wait things out. makes it more of a battle of attrition where the defenders would be put on the back foot and need to strategize with their remaining equipment instead of just being good at gunfights. I haven't played in forever (found other games I could play but enjoyed my time with this game) but I feel like this kind of change would be a more natural and lore friendly way of balancing the sides instead of playing gun whack-a-mole or crippling an operator through their gadgets or loadout. this is just something I thought up on the spot and so this kind of change has a lot of potential holes in it but I'm interested to hear what other people think about this concept and how Ubi might change the game dynamic between attackers and defenders to even the playing field on a grand scheme. I feel Ubi is running into the issue of over complicating their solutions by micromanagement of the guns instead of looking at simpler yet overarching changes like buffing attackers in late game or making it harder for either side to sweep in the other due to position and gun skill alone. I also think that they should consider lore more when considering changes and really considering why an operator would or would not have something in their loadout.
Siege has always been a game of improvisation stop limitig it and wishing it to be limited like shit counter and shit valorant that are limited in every way. Siege is a team game with a lot of creative ways to play it. Please stop crying that you suck at it because a op is "strong" when 1 headshot is enough to kill someone. Every op is weaker than they should be. And 80% suck and are not viable for every site.

Yet another banger from G rainbow six
IMO the TCSG for melusi would be huge buff. The TCSG is very strong and maybe overpowered compared to other weapons on defence.
I would love a pump action shotgun with slugs. Maybe with a small magazine for faster reloading...
They could just give us a bolt action at that point

I’m back on console for the first time since 2019, I quit PC after Brutal Swarm (I was champ elo). Since Ela got impacts, I’ve played nothing but her in ranked. I’ve got a 1.3 K/D and a 63% W/L with her in mid plat, which is good considering again, I haven’t played with a controller since 2019. On any game.
An interesting thing rn would to give everyone an acog, then see who rises to the top.
Hot take i believe we need a new dev team
Nope. Thank God it got removed that pick rate was getting out of hand.
unpopular opinion:
They shouldn't try to make an asymmetrical game into a symmetrical one.
1st video: Siege has an attacker problem
2nd video: Seige has a defender problem
3rd video: The problem with Seige 😂
Smoke or mute should have the other acog lost cuz they took away 2 acogs from defense and only gave back 1 to a different op in defense
IRL you wouldn't put a scop on a smg. I realize this isn't real, but the defenders are already so over powered. Hot take; take the scopes away from defense.
"Melusi is good compared to doc and rook"
WHAT EVEN IS THIS COMPARISON, THEY HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON LIKE WTF
She had acog, and their guns are similar; Melusi brought a strong form of trap with the same weapon+ acog while Doc and Rook have acog and bring more of a supportive form of gadget
imagine we get longer roundtimes lol
See the thing is that nothing is allowed to be op. Ever. Everything must be boring and equal at all times.
Giving defenders DMRs with acogs is a baffling balancing choice for me
Hmm, guess I am in yue minority. I don't think any of the defenders should have magnified optics and they should be limited on attack. But as part of that if they gave the 1x optics a transparency to simulate both eyes being open while keeping the magnified optics solid I would see people gravitating towards the 1x sights.
I completely agree outside of the attack limited part, instead I think a 1x should have a bigger ads boost over zoom
Honestly makes sense and smgs should have a greater damage drop off so it takes more skill to spawn peak. Once spawn peaking is fixed a lot of maps people wouldn’t mind playing.
like i said on another comment
tbh id rather have acogs on everyone then only attacks, instead of getting rid of all of them on defense.
I think the boss g 1 hit hitbox and the fire rate shouldn’t be changed, 2 people have it…….and 1 is perma banned
But like what would be the issue with giving every operator acog just curious
They should make Melusi two speed again
Slug pump is good and all, but what about slug lever action?
Make Melusi a 2&2 with three banshees, Ela 3 speed, make BOSG do 84 damage
maybe defenders having 1 shot headshot a thing is not healthy for the balance of the game?
Just make it so (on defense) only 3 armors get acogs
Maybe just use muskets ffs, might as well. That'll be balanced, give everyone muskets problem solved!
First fix the cheater problem, then I will play Wamai with Aug and like it 💪
Any one help me me, stuck on defence tutorial where i dont have enough shock wire left to deploy on barbed wire??????
Damn bro I haven’t watched any of your videos in years but you just popped up on my recommended. But what happened to your voice?
G is NB/Trans now, if you have an issue with that bye 👋
One time everyone had ACOG SHUT UP WIMPS!!!
Just leave the bosg alone man. Its already hard enough for the majority of players to use.
Yo perfectly on time wtf
sooo were remaking the same video everyday. got it 😂😂😂😂
Why is your mic so weird? It sometimes fades out a bit
No defender acog!
Give melusi a dmr like maybe bucks or Blackbeards
remove out all the fun, make it feel like a stupid chore. thanks ubi
just make everyone 3armor already ubi. we know u want to. and have ash and sens the only ones that arent
surprise surprise
she Siege in my Rainbow till ill Nerf
recoil sucks, movement sucks, this game has consistently been going downhill for years
Justins a liar huh
yo why am I gettin a stray
greg
Just no
as a hypothetical idea, what if, at the halfway mark of the game the attackers got a resupply on all their gear and gadgets. this would represent the attackers getting backup like they would in "real life". maybe even having the attackers health regenerate as long as they are outside the building or in a "secured" area (basically a room that has not had a defender in it for X amount of time) and the closer the time gets to 0 the better health regen would get making it harder and harder for the defenders to just wait things out. makes it more of a battle of attrition where the defenders would be put on the back foot and need to strategize with their remaining equipment instead of just being good at gunfights.
I want the 1.5 scope on every gun
Bruh
comment for boost
Siege has always been a game of improvisation stop limitig it and wishing it to be limited like shit counter and shit valorant that are limited in every way. Siege is a team game with a lot of creative ways to play it. Please stop crying that you suck at it because a op is "strong" when 1 headshot is enough to kill someone. Every op is weaker than they should be. And 80% suck and are not viable for every site.
6:17 so we’re in copper
Defenders are trash cause guns have no scope and are all smgs vs attackers with at
Defenders win more than 70% of the time
M8? You okay?
God please you guys dont have any idea of Utility meta, that was horrible at least now it feels like an FPS
