I played The Division games in a weird order. I played 2 first, then went back to play 1 (where I fell in love with the survival mode and can't fathom why they didn't carry that over to the sequel). But since I played 2 about a year after launch for about a year, then played the first one, I missed all the new content. I didn't even know it had come out. The reason I left the game was that, at the time (late 2020, shortly after Summit launched), was because they started repeating seasons and rumor had it that the game was no longer going to have normal live service game support. Just rehashed/recycled seasons we'd already had. Obviously, Ubisoft had a change of heart based on what I learned watching this video. Yeah, they haven't added any new missions like they did in year 1, but they continued to add modes like Countdown and Descent, added new seasons and gear sets, etc. I might have to go back and revisit the game. Since it's been so long though, I think I'd want to start a new playthrough from scratch from the very start as I'm sure I've forgotten many of the core mechanics of the game. Had I known they continued supporting it, I'd have jumped back on much sooner. *Edit/Addition. Now if they'd add the first games survival mode, I'd be telling all my friends they need to get this game!
time fly's. I will never forget my days in the division 1 darkzone when the game was popping. Some of the most fun I've ever had in a video game. And I was born in the 80's.
That cursed place pretty much set the standard for the current extraction shooters. Despite not playing for over 7 years, I'm sure I still remember it as the most varied and fun experience I ever had in a multiplayer game.
Yes, if boggles mind why some development company hasn’t capitalized on that concept i.e. a big open world with nonstop PVP that’s popular and the dart zone was and the hours and hours and hours that player spent running around killing each other in it yet we don’t have a game like that to play And we have a lot of other titles that tried to do similar things but they’re all arena base games where you have to queue up in the lobby and drop it just boggles the mind that someone hasn’t filled gigantic space or some shit and you have to fight that survive with safe house and scattered around it like in the division Put all the tools to craft and upgrade your gear in them and let people just play and fight that was not in my opinion the best part survival mode and the dark zone in division one the best part of the game we still don’t have anything similar to it I mean plan too OK maybe but that’s fraction based and you’re fighting over locations. Why do we need that premise fighting PVP is its own reward I mean the dark zone was the perfect example of an extraction shooter you go in you’re going in just straight up PVP or you’re going into VA for the high drop rate loop back then I mean it was a higher drop rates right and it’s the beginning. There were certain Benoli in the dark so they had to go there to get them, but people would go to PVP and then try to extract that so they can upgrade that was the foundation of what made the dark so cool is catching people trying to get that gear out or on the other side if you were the guy trying to get it out trying to out smart The people that were trying to dictate you and take that here from you and put it on the rope themselves I mean, I did that many times somebody took the stuff they were trying to put on the rope and before the extraction ended put it on the road was the perfect example of an extraction shooter that would be really popular, but nobody’s made one and the division to ruin that experience
The division 1 DZ felt ominous and dangerous. I'm not a PVP player and so I had to be as quiet as possible and run sometimes for the good loot. It was awesome. I ended up lvl 99 and every level was earned.
Marcostyle, Arekkz gaming and Skill up are the original Division content creators. Most of us day one veterans started playing Destiny 1 first in 2014 and than the Division 1 in 2015. Thank you very much Marcostyle for all of your hard work. You new player's will never understand.
I've played on console but like butta was the boogyman in div 1 from all the vids I used to watch skillup was the technical aspect player but end up crying a bit at the end Marco showed some balance of both worlds arrekks I watch him for a bit but not like Ive watch skillup and Marco @@xXFallout2
The original content creators for exploiting bugs in the game to give themselves an unfair advantage, especially in PVP, with cheat-like mechanics. The explanation for this was to draw attention to the problem and therefore exploit the mechanics. It's about as justifiable to make cs:go content with aimbot because the devs dont care about it. But somehow no one bothered and everyone celebrated it and people declared them to be division gods. Gods of the Ape Horde.
Division 1 still holds a special place in my heart, Division 2 doesn't quite stack up. One of the biggest reasons the original held my attention so much was until the gear sets became the defacto meta as they were so powerful and they nerfed pretty much everything else you had such an ability to create your own builds in such unique ways. I spent so much time experimenting with different stuff and came up with things like the anti-tank build which would drop someone in 1-2 shots to counter your tanktician build, the high dps shield build which caused a lot of heartbreak in the darkzone (as seen in my videos on my channel) & I'm pretty sure it caused massive to nerf/rework the shield 3 times ;) But there was so much fun to be had creating new things from scratch rather than the cookie cutter stuff that they introduced late in Division 1 and continued with in Division 2. Division 2 doubled down on making it much more cookie cutter with the way they loot & builds worked and it really took away a lot of the fun and player creativity...that's what I miss, being able to create such custom and wild builds...some which were epic and some which were epic fails but all fun to create and play with.
the tanktician bro holy shit i remember getting home from a basketball game and just grinding for hours trying to get the pieces to drop and the stars just aligned and i got them all in like a 30 minute stretch. prob one of my best gaming memories
I played Div1 SOOOOOO much more than Div2. I liked both but for whatever reason the first held my attention soooo much better. Also the look of winter-in-NY is really iconic in the first game summer in DC just doesn't tickle my fancy nearly as much.
Yep the atmosphere of the first one was unbelivable good. This Battle Royal like mode in the first one was so awesome. This is how a real battle royal has to be imo. Sadly it wasnt played that much.
Because Division 2's endgame content was awful, their raids sucked, the buildcrafting was also just as bad, it was "how much DPS could I push out with guns" because skills were an after thought. Then we got the BTSU Data Gloves, and that some how managed to fix skill builds into being feasible pre-WoNY, then WoNY, those gloves get nerfed, and then they at least put in some sets that weren't dogwater. Then, we never had gear sets until way too late in the cycle to have tailored builds for certain styles of play.
Everything from 1 was juts better the overall feel the overall play the way everything worked was great, perfect then Div 2 they changed everything and removed half the fun stuff to just and grindy PvE game, all they should have done was transferred everything from Div 1 over to Div 2 and add upon that.. like don't get me wrong the PvE feels great in Div 2 but everything else is bland
My heart stays with Division 1, DarkZone, survival - one of the best memories . Division 2 did not click, world 2 achieving then abounded for couple years. Then Warlords was finished then my Division 2 saga was ended. Thanks for video Marko. Peace!!
@@naingaung2748 there was a roof top like 200 meter away from a dz-entrance (a respawn point), the only way to acces it was by ladder. going up the ladder you had no weapon in hand, so the rouge agent could easily farm xp. it was basiacally impossible to kill them, especally with shock or fire turrent.
It pisses me off that people think the campaign and story are not important. It's the most important part for me. Campaign, lore, and story are the only reasons I play Division. Without it, the game would be shit. This doesn't mean I don't care about game play because I do. It doesn't matter how good the game play is... If the story sucks, I won't play the game. I don't understand skipping the campaign in any game. There are people who enjoy campaigns. I dare The Division 3 to launch without a campaign... It will fail. Launch a game with an actually good campaign and end game, and it will succeed. Everything has to work. Both campaign and end game. Destiny succeeds because the lore and story are weaved into the end game. Even Destiny's loot has lore woven into it. Story matters... It really matters. Well, it does to me. Hearing people ask for devs to forget about it pisses me off.
Actually it's the opposite, if the gameplay sucks, the game will suck regardless of a good story or not. Same problem with that game hideo made that I don't even remember the name to. It did have a great story and the inspiration behind the story was heartbreaking but the gameplay severely took away from it by being boring and redundant.
Darkzone in division 1 was probably the most fun I've had in a shooter in awhile. The stress of running into players and trying to keep things friendly or finding that opening to backstab the player group you ran into. 10/10
100% agree with the PvE dark zone is a huge missed opportunity, getting head shot for over a million damage just wasn't fun so avoided the dark zone at all costs. Great video
Same. I'm no pvp player, I'm there for the gunplay and story and its a shame that people like us just can't go there. It's filled with trolls these days and all I want to do is explore but it's simply not possible as a lone player.
@@dt763 well the darkzone is and always has been the place for pvp it’s heavily about pvpve those 1 mill headshot dmg sniper builds are very one trick there’s so much cover it’s not hard to just get close to them unless they have a full team covering them
@@dt763 ill always say go to DZ East first, if busy and many going rogue then try South - do a quick landmark then go straight to extraction. Never have more than 2 contam's on you incase you're seen by a Rogue. Also, say hey in the chat - there are quite a few nice folk in there still. I was solo last night and was pulsed by a group of 4 or 5 who had just killed a team of 3 rogues, they just looked at me and left lol
It might be 5 years old but I literally just started playing it. It’s been in my downloads for the last few years and I’m finally getting around to it. Only a level 4 but having fun this far. Can’t complain. I got the expansion soon forn10 bucks but I ain’t no where near ready to play it. Good content.
This was an extremely well thought and put together video. It was a pleasure to watch, I took my time with it, felt like a movie. I'll never forget the first time i played Division1 Survival, the climate and the immersion in that moment was just something i never felt again in Division 2. Thank you for taking the time to put his together.
I was really excited for Heartlands, which was going to be "Division 1 Survival - the game", and then sad when it was cancelled. I hope they bring back survival mode to Div3.
I’ve been waiting for this. I came back about 3 months ago, after taking a long break shortly after NYC was released. I have to say I had a really good time playing catch up, doing the old seasons for the rewards and working on proficiency etc
God I hope survival is in division 3. Like what do we need to do to make this happen? Not in a sky scarper… not a simulation in a bunker. Survival 2.0!! In the winter, outside. You have the formula!!! Use it!
Yeah the division 3 needs to live up to the hype and I hope it does. It needs to go back to the division 1 dark zone roots, give us the amount of content the division 2 had but from launch, new game modes, name brand clothing (this can help with popularity also)
A few months ago I searched for his old Divison videos to feel that energy again, waiting for the new Divison game. Watching new Divison content in 2024 feels so right.
1:25:20 Is such an accurate description of the cover system in the endgame. It gets even worse when you look at the speedrunning scene and realize going in cover is just a time loss.
Wauw, did i really just watched a 3 hour video? I did, and let me tell you why. I loved the Division 1, and I still do although the only mode I play every now and then is Survival. Ive played Division 2 and enjoyed it. But not at the Division 1 level. It lacked direction for me. I never really knew what to do next, and the entire next level after reaching level 30 was a bit of a let down. Not like those early Div 1 days where we were all looking for that perfect vector or M1A-something. Watching Marco and SkillUp making their videos and trying to min-max our loadouts. Any-ho, thx Marco for this blast from the past. Looking forward to running into you in Div 3, although I will prob die when I do :)
I will always watch a Marco video on the Division. I love all of your Division videos. The quality, and aesthetics, the editing. It's always been on point. Even from the very beginning in D1. The Division peaked in D1 IMHO. The atmosphere just cannot be unbeaten. The snow is the largest factor at play. Playing it from launch was very fun to see how much the game progressed. It's a shame that it's pretty much dead nowadays. I have 100x more fun in D1 than in D2. Survival is still so fun, even if there's only 1-2 other people playing it now. Honestly, if the game was still active, D1 would still be my main game. Anyways, love Marco. Enjoy every video you make.
The 6k hours I put into div1 from day 1 (basically all dz pvp lol) and probably thousands more hours watching streams and videos on div1... man... such a huge part of my life back in my early 20s. Countless memories, all-nighters and made so many friends that I still keep in touch with today. Div2 just isn't the same.
This franchise will forever have a special place in my heart. I never got to experience it in it's live service development, nor did i get to experience it in it's prime, but when i did get the chance to play it, both the division 1 and 2 i loved so dearly. There was just something so satisfying about the world, about the feel, about the shooting, about the buildcrafting. I sorely hope i can find that magic again in future division games, if there are actually going to be any.
Marco.... Im just 1h into the video and i have to say.... im following you since years.... You nailed it with this beauty of a video.... Im really glad to be a follower of you and i have to thank you for the video and all the years of content from you. Much love and greetings from germany. Cheers buddy.
A fantastic video, Mr. Style. Would love to see the ~70m showing your ideal version of The Division one day, the brief ideas you mentioned in the text seem super cool.
The fact that I sat down & watched 3 hrs of this, is A testament to how well Marco puts his videos together! (Also my love for division) But still Bravo Marco & Thank you for the countless hours I've spent watching your videos since back in 2017.
the most memorable moment from my division time spent happened in Division 1 campaign when Hornet said "It's not the JTF, Hornet out" I don't know why but I hear a voice that sounds similar and then I remember that magical line. Maybe it's because that mission was farmed a lot haha.
Wow a marco video... i remember putting in 200+days into TD1... i wasnt even a TH-camr back then really lol. I hope TD3 is good I wanna make animations about it. It would be like a coming full circle moment for me fr
I put 3k hours into d1 and about 1k into d2. D1 was the superior game by a large margin for me. I used to be scared being alone in dz6. I remember getting loot and using the recon pulse to hide and extract something I wanted so badly. PVP toxicity reminded me of the good old modern warfare 2 days, lol. Marco I have been watching you for 8 years now? Since your D1 videos. I would personally LOVE to see you make a video on your ideal division game. I’ve always loved your ideas on how to handle issues across both games. Just to throw one idea at you. I would love if the loot in the division was like raid shadow legends. Weird comparison I know BUT the thing is you get a piece of gear with 4 substat rolls and then you can roll that piece of gear up 4 times and each time a roll can increase a substat by a certain percentage. If those rolls go into the stats you want then it is a great piece and quite rare. It keeps you constantly grinding for better and better loot until you get that absolute god roll piece. Anyways I hope you do make the video!
Seriously outstanding work. I think there is a glut of valuable information here, and if the developers want to make a superior product, they would do well to listen and at least consider your points when crafting The Division 3. Very entertaining, yet deeply informative. Well done, this definitely needs to be seen by anybody who wants a better Division sequel.
Oh, I remember Marco from the dark zone on division 1😂😂😂 we had a lot of funny moments there against each other. Sometimes, we were like 20 or more there in the extraction zone, like gangs, fighting like crasy, or talking, having fun, or being rogue, etc.... awesome times we all had playing Division 1, now is not the same, i can't even go to darkzone and play there. Even if i play div2, the game doesn't have half of the mystic/ environment that Div 1 had among players, and also the game it self.Cheers!😎
Don’t play Division much any more (after 100s of hours of gameplay on D1 and 2) but immediately clicked and watched the whole thing. Wish I could give it eight likes. Would love to see your further ideas (everything you said you cut from this video). Would also love to hear expanded comparisons (like you did here with Destiny 2), especially if it touched on those other great games that are better value for your time (and especially if you identified what aspects of those games actually satisfy some part of the special brew that D1 had way back when). Thanks for the video!
crazy watching you during d1 era dz pvp div 2 both falling out of love with the franchise and both still being hopefull years later for the series still
Dude people are sleeping on this man’s content so hard. 3 hours of some of the highest quality stuff on the platform. I have been a fan since he started playing d2 and have loved his content ever since, whatever form it takes. Genuinely great content here
damn big dog. You were one of the first YTers I got behind PERIOD back in 2016ish. Its been almost 10 fucking years which is wild to me. Glad you are still making content. I hope you still got the Rig your online buddy bought you back then so you could do Halo Forge content. Id memorialize it as it started this path in life for you.
I personally grinded for MONTHS waiting for Warlords to come out so I could be ready for Gear 2.0 My devastation was immeasurable when I realized the gear was separated between level 30-40 gear.
My first day entering the Division 1 Dark zone was one of the best and and most haunting experience I've ever had in a looter game. I sometimes go back to the OG game just to get that nostalgia again.
There's so much loot and stuff to collect in this game that players would create extra characters just to store extra items in... I think that kinda shows how far both the playerbase and developers have pushed the loot envelope. Is it bad? For me nah but i can understand how it can overwhelm newer players so easily and increase complexity on an already complex genre.
More options don't lead to more complexity. We have a few dozen weapon talents with only a handful of good ones. 30+ brand sets with only 5 being used in 99% of the builds. and 100+ weapon archetypes with only 10 or so even being considered being decent. The builds have also just not eveolved beyond single target damage for end game content. just because there is more shit to pick from, doesn't make this game complex. It is not complex.
@@MarcoStyleI do agree with that. But without a guide or friend explaining how or what can enable that high single target dmg it can take a good while to wrap your head around. I still often see 1000+shd levels with 6 pieces of a gearset, no dttoc on both their guns or they invested in armor expertise (biggest scam ever) among many more and don't even get me started on the new player experience for pvp activities or just knowing what allows for those aforementioned "Frankenstein" builds early on. Regardless, this video was great and a nice refresh for us division fans. Looking forward to see more long form on other topics.
@@MarcoStyletrue but especially for solo heroic open world (vast majority if the playerbase) we have so much power there is quite a wide build space that works well enough and which are also fun to play (IMHO). Nicely builds is a lot of the replayability for me. If anything, outside of raids, it's too bad that DPS can more or less Brite force your way through all content. There are rare exceptions, like many of the final manhunt missions, which are quite challenging solo with directives. Survival is cool and all, but its a different thing and not something I could play for 8k hrs like I have div2. I abhor PvP in division- RPG mechanics never gel with a singular ruleset ala the DZ. Both end up suffering and you end up empowering griefing douchebags most of us old guys want nothing to do with anymore. My T levels are too low to care anymore. I just want to farm in peace. I also wonder why every attempt to fix PvP im div2 just ends up making PvE worse too.
Thank you @marcostyle for giving me the part 2 of the Division 2 review that SkillUp completely forgot to make and just left the franchise as it is without so much as a proper goodbye. 😑
Can't blame the man. Doing reviews made his channel 10x bigger than it ever would have been with The Division. He knows how to play the TH-cam game for sure.
@@MarcoStyle Thank you for replying! If you could kindly assist to remind him about it, I'd like to see his take on the Division 2 so far since his part 1 showed the game in a more positive light.
@@aragorn256 I think there is a chance he might with the year 6 DLC. (the new big story one) But I don't talk to him in private or anything so don't qoute me on that.
In really, really really missed hearing something from you about the game. So much that I often come back and check your old Div 1 videos. I hope you get so so bored in the next weeks that you find yourself coming back to The Division 2 content :' D
The division 1 was the only game where everyone in my destiny one raid team switched games to play it on launch. The first week of the darkzone with the infinite party size glitch holds a special place in my heart, 10 vs 10 battles of just constant abilities going off.
I remember the first few weeks of TD1. You could only get yellow chest pieces in the DZ. I finally picked one up solo and a squad of three crashed my extraction. It was f-ing tense. I sneaked off and set off another extraction at another location, and another, making them chase. I then ran back to the original and got it extracted. I miss that.
2:26:06 had me fucking hollering holy shit, the sheer burning anger in that russian man's voice made him sound like a factory worker from a soviet comedy film
Marco, you are one of my favorite creators. I used to watch all of your Division videos. Loved when you pivoted to Destiny. Your videos somewhat inspired my own videos, but i havent posted in a while. I loved The Division so much, I do hope Division 3 is good, can't wait to see more from you again.
Dude what a coincident i just reinstall the division 1 last night anh run a few mission out of nostalgic then the first think i saw this morning is you came back with a 3 hours vid about the division, this make me want to play some more :)))), God bless you my dude
I never played neither. They are both really cheap now, especially Div 1. Is the first one worth it? Can we still play it besides not getting new content? Should I go straight to Div 2? Sorry to ask this 5 months later.
Lots of us did, I thought he was a right cunt back then and preferred skill up for division content but credit where credit is due, his gear tutorials were top notch and so I subscribed for those and overtime he did Mellow out tremendously!
The largest change I hated and made me quit the game so fast was the armor system away from the med kits. Having to sit still for 2s just to heal was such a giant leap away from the core experience of division 1. It just makes me hate playing D2
they updated recently the game to bring back a quick heal ala div1 though it wont heal you fully, but it would give like 50% armor back on instant (iirc) and would be on cooldown holding it is still the same tho
Funny enough, my buddies and I were just talking about Div2, and how we should go back, and check out the content since WONY. Watched all 3hr10min of your video. Good work. Well said, focused, and informative. Got, me to download it again. (I am only 753 SHD :P) It's been a few years. Anyway, good to see you again. Didn't even knew you still made videos. As we all have moved on to various games/things in life. Thanks for sharing, :)
Great video Marco, always good to hear your analysis of the franchise. It's clear you speak from a position of love for the games and how great they could have been. You've got such a good grasp of game balance, I hope you get into the industry to be involved in game design
Survival is peak division. Everyone longing for that nostalgia we should all play survival on sundays. Survival Sundays! I think a content creator may have coined that at some point but can't remember who. Catch y'all in survival? 👀
I used to make content for this game. I loved it. Now that ive been away for so long, its wonderful to have such a detailed video explaining its ups and downs. I really enjoy all your recent videos since youve moved on from Destiny. I would be interested in Division 3, but they need to do it right this time.
2:27:54 This fight makes no sense whatsoever. You are suppose to strafe to avoid damage. They are strafing at the exact same time, and shooting at the exact same time. What's the point of strafing if bullets aren't being shot at you?!?
i would never ever think that I would even consider watching a 3h long youtube video. But here we are. Marco back on the division give me huge nostalgia
Man, how much better was the community management function and discourse back then! Hamish actually advocated for the community and was not afraid to push issues with the devs and mgmt. unlike the lap dogs the recent CM's have become.
What I personally liked about The Division 1, which I also consider miles better than The Division 2: 1. Atmosphere. I agree so much with you on the snow part, also Division 1 had better music and sound design it helped to the immersion. Weapon sounds, the UI on the game while in an infected part of the Dark Zone, the amazing contrast of the hazardous yellow with the blue ultraviolet lights and the white snow. The little red icons everywhere highlighting everything. The absolute badass movement of the player animation. The sound of the guns super clean and high quality. You could look badass and still be it. The fog making it hard to look beyond. 2. Greatest PVP I’ve played in the Dark Zone. Unfair, raw, challenging. Toggle to go rogue ruined the experience. 3. Really hard incursions and hard to come by gear that it made you play a lot. Double edge though I mean, if they are really making a new Division game just nail The Division 1 atmosphere on every mission. Make it winter again. Bring those fancy icons for the map or everything, make it look really hype. Nail the music, nail the atmosphere. And above all, make The Dark Zone unfair again. Make it unforgiving, make it so I can feel the adrenaline, my heart beat full speed because I might lose the loot I grinded for 100 hours. I mean, honestly The Division 1 Dark Zone has to be the only thing in a game that before I went in I was already shaking in goosebumps. Or even when you ran into another player you knew to be careful but it was a never ending rush of adrenaline. Toxic and unfair but hell of addictive. Really a unique experience that any other game has yet to replicate. The Division 1 is probably my favorite MP game of all time. The Division 2 is trash. Edit: Also super important, the gunplay in The Division 1 feels more realistic and right. The Division 2 gunplay feels Arcade-y. If Massive wants the OGs to come back for The Division 3 they have to nail all these again. The Division 1 did a lot things right and it took us time to realize it. If The Division 3 happens to nail (in this order): 1. The Atmosphere. 2. The gunplay. 3. Weapon’s sounds. 4. Music. 5. The Dark Zone I will give it a shot. If not I won’t bother. I didn’t finish The Division 2 anyway. Would rather play other games.
This dude is a Division 1 legend I haven’t watched in years but surely gonna watch this entire thing lesssss gooooo! Or at least it’ll be on as I grind The Pit lesssss goooooo!
Why am I so excited about this lol? I've never played this game and I don't know who this TH-camr is. But sometimes, a thumbnail just grabs you, and an intro just gets you in the mood to watch a video about a subject you might not even be a fan of.
Left after WONY, came back after D2 "finale." And while all the new stuff was overwhelming, I'm enjoying it. Not sure if it's because it's different or better, but having a good time. And it has active players in all the different game modes! I'm farming gear in countdown, playing past manhunts, experiencing the raids and incursion for the first time (thankful for matchmaking and/or active clan).
I have better memories of Div 1’s DZ than anything in Div 2, and I played Div 1 years after starting the franchise with 2. No cookiecutter slop matches the feeling of running all the way from DZ8 to DZ1 to evade a squad of rogues and a dozen other players scattered around, in a blizzard so strong that nobody can see more than a few feet ahead of them, to extract the last few Classified Nomad pieces I needed to complete the 6 set. That was a wonderful night during the real life pandemic I may never forget.
Hey Marco, I would really love to see your analysis on suicide squad. That game is a content goldmine to you, a bad campaign, bad boss fights, copy-paste side missions, boring game loop, and the worst endgame content. Please consider doing it.
Really loved your in depth analytics in D1 and beginning of D2 . Your videos are top tier. Nowadays we only have the click-baity style of content creators left. For me you were and are a Division legend.
You've misconstrued the purpose of Bungie deleting Destiny 2's Red War campaign alongside it's two first DLCs (Curse of Osiris and Warmind) and part of Forsaken as being for the same reasons that Division 2 allows you to skip its campaign. They deleted the content not because it's mediocre (which Curse of Osiris definitely was less than such) or not the "true game", but because of difficulties developing such a big game as they put it. They got backlash for this when it occured during Beyond Light's launch because people didn't want to lose this content as it wasn't only the campaigns that were going away but the endgame too; all strikes, exotic missions and raids from the period were removed entirely which were all free for F2P players. It was a core part of the game, not something that isn't as important like in Division 1 and 2.
I'm aware of the reasons they have deleted the campaign, but if Bungie thought the experience was important enough to keep, then they would have. Like with all the other content that did make the final cut. The only endgame content that got removed as far as I know, is the content tied to planets from the red war campaign that also needed to be removed.
@@MarcoStyle The only content that "made the final cut" was the paid content. Anything free, aka content they weren't actively making money off of anymore, was deleted. All the content was important; there were weapons from those DLCs that were actively being used, the raids were still being played, and the events of these campaigns are necessary to understand where the story is now (as, unlike Division, the story actually matters). It wasn't because of a lack of importance, they just didn't want to keep trying to sustain content that they couldn't actively monetize. You're giving Bungie too much credit for what was an awful decision that no one liked as F2P players STILL have little to no content to play, the effects are still reflected in the steam review score for Beyond Light to this day.
Marco you really can tell a good story. I really like your long form content. This is a great take on D1 and 2. Thanks for your time and efforts on a thoroughly entertaining and informative video and this deep look into the world and gameplay (and its short comings) of D1 and 2. Cheers. P.S. Its also really great to see you making content again. Cheers.
Man, that OW2 pve drop made me so furious I just stopped playing the game for good. "We realized we can not achive the goal we set to inplement the pve" was their excuse, after promising and hyping us for months. A company like Blizzard could not do it? What a fcking terrible excuse. They just spit on our faces. OW2 was one of the biggest scams
A Division video by Marco in 2024 is generational
Crazy how Div1 dropped 8 years ago
fr i was 15 when Div1 dropped and played on launch day
I still play Div 1
@@1ButtonDash Same here, Born in the late sixties> Damn i loved Div1 at launch.
Division 1 Darkzone was a special experience. The potential was palpable.
@@billy_crossThat is one huge run-on sentence.
@@billy_cross don't forget proximity voice chat. That added an extra layer of realism. I HATE that they got rid of it in Div2
The division 1 DZ felt ominous and dangerous. I'm not a PVP player and so I had to be as quiet as possible and run sometimes for the good loot. It was awesome. I ended up lvl 99 and every level was earned.
Division 1 was the GOAT. The atmosphere...the music...the setting...everything. I really miss those days playing with my friends!

Marcostyle, Arekkz gaming and Skill up are the original Division content creators. Most of us day one veterans started playing Destiny 1 first in 2014 and than the Division 1 in 2015. Thank you very much Marcostyle for all of your hard work. You new player's will never understand.
Marcostyle was in his own league for division 1 content.
I still remember all the OG pvpers. Widz, like butter (like butter YAY) DanP to name a few
That's where I first was introduced to Skillup...back during his weekly vendor update videos. Now he's probably my favorite overall gaming youtuber.
The Division 1, to this day I still think about that game. It such a experience when it was populated. I miss it
Marco +Division= Instant Watch
I ain't reading allat
Winter in NyC division 1 looked way better
For me, it was the reverse more hours in division 2, but didn’t really like pvp that might be why
Peace!!
So you don't know what happened after Warlords?

You're alive? And you're posting Division content that i initially subbed for years ago?
This truly is a special day and I'm here for it.

Og’s remember holding out as rogues on that roof next to the dark zone entrance in the first game for hours.
Thats shit was epic lol. fighting the server forever.
The ladder
The most legendary yet biggest brain fart in map design ever lmao.
As someone who is not an og this read like gibberish to me.
@@naingaung2748 there was a roof top like 200 meter away from a dz-entrance (a respawn point), the only way to acces it was by ladder.
going up the ladder you had no weapon in hand, so the rouge agent could easily farm xp.

Facts
I agree I really like the campaign of both games. Cheers.
Division 1 was PEAK, you had to have been there!
I watched the whole 3 hours bro, was there when you played and covered Div 1.. can't wait for div 3 and pray for a good game! nice vid!

Working on proficiency, for what? To kill NPCs faster? Come on !

Man…love seeing a division video from Marco.
Division 1 is one of my favorites of all time.
Div 1 was EPIC.
Holy crap I thought this was 20 minutes or something DAMN, I’m watching/listening the entire thing through for you dad!
Div 2 is awful. I’m replaying Div 1 on a new character right now lol there is still new players since it went on steam sale
I sorely hope i can find that magic again in future division games, if there are actually going to be any.
the third one is confirmed
Marco.... Im just 1h into the video and i have to say.... im following you since years.... You nailed it with this beauty of a video.... the most memorable moment from my division time spent happened in Division 1 campaign when Hornet said "It's not the JTF, Hornet out" I don't know why but I hear a voice that sounds similar and then I remember that magical line. Maybe it's because that mission was farmed a lot haha.
Just finished the video, good stuff. Have always enjoyed the long form content, and this one delivers. GGs Marco
Wow a marco video... i remember putting in 200+days into TD1... i wasnt even a TH-camr back then really lol. I hope TD3 is good I wanna make animations about it. It would be like a coming full circle moment for me fr
12:50-12:59 Took me back to great memories.
Great analysis Marco, I thought you totally abandoned The Division. I miss the content, hopefully D3 addresses these issues.
I just hope Division 3 reinvents the whole formula and pushes it into the next generation like destiny did for the previous one.

The largest change I hated and made me quit the game so fast was the armor system away from the med kits. Having to sit still for 2s just to heal was such a giant leap away from the core experience of division 1. It just makes me hate playing D2
they updated recently the game to bring back a quick heal ala div1
though it wont heal you fully, but it would give like 50% armor back on instant (iirc) and would be on cooldown
holding it is still the same tho

What I personally liked about The Division 1, which I also consider miles better than The Division 2:
Double edge though
I mean, if they are really making a new Division game just nail The Division 1 atmosphere on every mission.
If The Division 3 happens to nail (in this order):
1. The Atmosphere.
2. The gunplay.
3. Weapon’s sounds.
4. Music.
5. The Dark Zone
I will give it a shot. If not I won’t bother.
I didn’t finish The Division 2 anyway. Would rather play other games.

I just redownloaded The Division 2 a few hours ago
because I had an itch to play it again
Nothing can ever replace to even come close to The Division
Why am I so excited about this lol? I've never played this game and I don't know who this TH-camr is. But sometimes, a thumbnail just grabs you, and an intro just gets you in the mood to watch a video about a subject you might not even be a fan of.
Marcostyle is the Godfather of the Division content creators. That's why he is making this video you might want to do your research.
@@skwad8465 What a weird way to reply to this post.
Division 2, much like Destiny 2, came way too soon. Both Division 1 and Destiny 1 should've been given room to grow.
I think I'll pass, thanks.
Really loved your in depth analytics in D1 and beginning of D2 . Your videos are top tier. Nowadays we only have the click-baity style of content creators left. For me you were and are a Division legend.
Thank god this isn’t destiny, resubbed
I can't believe Marco recorded a 3 hour Division video!! Welcome back sir. Let's Go!!!!!!!!!
Cheers.
How they treated Division 1 was all I needed to avoid Division 2 and I switch to Overwatch instead. Just sucks that OW2 pve was dropped.
OW2 was one of the biggest scams
we're so back, just like back in the day! Thanks for the video and your opinion on Division's game design
The Division 1 was abandoned in 2 1/2 years after its release and its still ten steps ahead of Division 2
True.

Saving this for work tomorrow. Thanks, man. 🤙
