Consider this a part 1! Gotta comparison video of the 28 Summaron coming out as well 👀

Great review as usual Mr Andrew!!! 5:30 Agreed, the resolution packs a lot of punch for the price. I was expecting the results to be a lot worse somehow

Nice lens and looks good mounted on the body. ✌️

I’ve bought this lens, after various favourable reviews, but at £400 GBP - a good buy! As a pensioner, I can’t afford a £3,000 Leica Summaron.
I’ve paired this lens via Metabones Leica M to E Mount adapter on my Sony A6700 using manual focus (Foucus Peaking) with IBIS On - absolutely pin sharp images.
Remember, on Sony APS-C sensor camera, the 28mm lens becomes 42mm (nearer to ’standard field-of-view’) - sharper center area of the lens and edge & corners softness avoided.
I highly recommend this combination or setup - ideal for Street Photography; not too wide angle but with sufficient stand-off distance! I’m guessing H C-B used a Leica 5cm lens … so, I’m in good company!
I have a few projects in mind with is setup, other than Street Photography.
    “Keep snapping and have fun!”

    Great video,
What are you thought about the finder? Do you think is easy to frame and truth to it?

Was the flare you were getting also happening with the hood on? Cause I just received one of these and it seems to be that finish in the inside of the hood is actually pretty reflective and I'm considering repainting the inside of the hood with black 3.0

    • @GenericPhotographer

Happened with or without unfortunately. Seems to be an internal reflection

I also use this lens quite often as well and it's so convenient/compact . I will say that the ghosting is annoying and I didn't even think if the lens hood would help with that or not .

The sharpness combined with the flair, make it an interesting experience. Just gotta light up your subjects properly/ account for it.

I bought a black one this past spring to use on my film MP. I wanted to play around with 28mm for street but I didn't want to invest in a Leica 28mm in case I didn't like it. Fast forward to now and the lens hasn't left my camera. Definitely a great purchase if you're just looking for an everyday general purpose lens.

The image quality and portability are hard to beat! Glad it worked out!

Great review. There are so many super-tiny 28mm lenses for M mount right now. There are all the new Voigtlanders. And there's this lens. And there's the Brightin Star 28mm f/2.8, which is absurdly small. I bought the Brightin Star and am kind of regretting not getting this lens instead.....

Suddenly they’re everywhere and that’s only a good thing. We need more 28mm lenses, I’m super curious about the brighting star 28. Reminds me of another lens I’ve always like: the MS Optics 28 f2 Apoqualia.

I purchased this lens a while back in silver (black version came out later) for use on my M10R and really enjoy it. The lens hood is nice but way too big, looking for an alternative! Set it at f11 and fire away. Can’t beat the price and the quality. The limiting f5.6 is sort of a bummer as can’t really use it I doors (without upping the ISO) so perhaps a Voigtlander 28mm f2 Ultron (also very small) could be a better option.

    • @GenericPhotographer
      @GenericPhotographer  ปีที่แล้ว

I tried using it into the night a few times. It works but as you said you gotta crank up that iso! The Ultron is amazing, I reviewed it a while back and think about it often.

Wow, that flaring is terrible. I get flaring and I don't mind it... but that thing will flare over nothing and really ruin shots that ought to be fine. Bummer. I was looking forward to picking one up.
I think the Voigtlander 28/2.8 Color Skopar is the easy choice for the small 28 slot. Or even the Konica 28/2.8 Hexanon. Both more expensive.. but just so superior.

Check out the brighten star 28 2.8 too! I posted a review on it and it’s a great alternative as well.

@@GenericPhotographer One of those just popped up for like $225. It seems interesting but maybe a bit fiddly? I'll definitely check out your review. Thanks!

I have the exact same lens as yours. You 're spot on regarding the flare issues. I feel this lens works best for high contrast film instead of digital.

I don't think i will buy this viewfinder then! thanks. I once took shots of someones kids and the father loved them and asked what camera i used. I said its not a big deal and a camera is a tool etc. He persisited and i finally said it was a Nikon. He was going to be Leica Maketing director in USA....if I had been more impressed maybe he would have given me one...although i would have sold it and used the Nikon.!
