To be fair, the second launch faced a larger set. Also, thought someone was going to lose a leg with the propeller.

That second guy should have seen that big wave coming. Plenty of time to back off and cross after breaking.

In the bad clip the guy in the front of the boat should have come back to half way so the front of the tinny could have pitched up higher to take the full brunt of the wave but because he stayed at the front when the tinny hit that wave it went like a javelin through a wall of water which instantly swamped it and then capsized it. Lack of co-ordinated team work between the 2 occupants. Tinny launching can be safe so long as the occupants have the know how what to do in the prevailing conditions. Gotta use wisdom on, and have respect for the sea with a boat or you'll end up capsizing it.

Dude running towards the waves wearing a life jacket for a rescue attempt should get there in a hour or more......who will then need to be rescued by the guys he tried to rescue. A rescuing affair.
    DO IT FOR JOHNNY!

It blows my mind that you are allowed to use these boats in the ocean with no buoyancy when Aus has the strictest health and safety rules for everything else

Not the boats fault here. Dumb human beings on board. The dude at the front of the boat should have dropped back to the middle to rear end of the boat to allow for the nose of the boat to climb up and over the wave. Amateurs. With his weight at the front of the boat it pushed the front of the boat straight into a wall of water and the water wiped out everyone in the boat / flipped the boat as a result. Don't blame the tinny for the mishap its the collective dumbness of those on board that caused the mishap. I launched from the beach on many a rough sea by myself on my 12 ft tinny parker craft with a 15 hp johnson outboard motor - Wairoa Northern Hawkes Bay and never drowned or flipped the boat. You got to know what you are doing and how to read and go with the sea to avoid flipping your boat.
