    This channel is so underrated. The tutorials are very clearly explained, while being short and in depth. You teach stuff that seem very helpful and important, that haven't been taught to me or I haven't seen anyone teach them. You're a blessing. That's propably my 10th video that I watch

    Like i said i will check it out if this is the video you meant. Very often when you are assisting a kiter. They go waay too much upwind like they would be launching solo lightwind. It does happen sometimes that kiter goes too far upwind with line tension and it makes it impossible to hold kite unless assistant moves little upwind (note it's not assistants job to move anywhere! Kiters responsibility!) Good video, keep it up :)

    Thanks for this video, 99% of accident I have seen are during launching and landing (mostly launching). With the last one were the guy, an experience kitesurfer, was ejected onto the rocks, 3 week in the coma, and most probably with not walk anymore !! Just by following this video all these could have been avoided. I have 5 years experience, kite a lot all year round, but watch this video with a lot of care and will keep it in my favorate to review it every so on. thanks so much.

    Great video, I have been kiting for over 10 years but still have my guard up when launching and landing. I do not pull the trim when launching or landing since in gusty conditions it increases the risk of funky kite behavior and backstalling. My advice would be to have proper power in the canopy.

    • @kitesurfexperiencebypetar
      @kitesurfexperiencebypetar  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for watching and sharing your opinion :)
      The trim line is not mandatory to pull before launching but in strong wind conditions it is definitely recommended, I often pull it until the end. With new generations of kites(year 2015 on) I didn't see any problem controlling the kite with the trim line completely pulled in.
      You mentioned that with the Trim Line completely pulled, there is a big risk of Backstalling? probably you did the mistake in writing? There is a risk of kite front stalling, but mostly if the kite is kept over the head in 12 oclock(zenith).
      How ever, I see more dangerous scenarios with to much power in the kite(Trim line not pulled at all) than with not enough power in the kite(Trim line completely pulled).

    I like the idea of connecting the chicken loop to the harness after the lines have been verified and the kite has air in it, making for an easy quick flag out. I was taught to connect the chicken loop right after clipping the ring. Great video! Thank you!

      @kitesurfexperiencebypetar  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, unfortunately as you, me and many others have been taught to immediately connect the Chicken Loop on the harness. Unfortunately I don’t see many people following the steps that I mentioned in my episode, so I hope that this episode will help kiters to always follow the safest steps for launching the kite with an assistant 🙏🏻🙌🏼

    Great video, excellent graphics and explanation. One minor thing: in my experience pulling on the trimline before launching is not a good idea, even in strong winds. It greatly reduces the maneuverability of the kite (especially when fully sheeted out) making it trickier for beginners to safely bring the kite up.

    • @kitesurfexperiencebypetar
      @kitesurfexperiencebypetar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Rubens, thank you for commenting and sharing your opinion :)
      Yes, it is not mandatory to pull the trim line, and it is true that the kite will not react perfectly when steering the bar, but in my opinion there is nothing that could go dramatically wrong if after showing the signal for launching, the kite is not flying up immediately, like I explained in the video from on 09:30.
      Please explain what you think could go wrong if the steering is not super reactive ?
      Thanks again for sharing your opinion with us.

    Hi !
    I allways advice to choose the side to lunch the kite the nearest to the sea....so you Don't have to pass the Zenith on the beach where It's dangerous.....but you go directly on the water!!
    If you have to check the Zenit now in the water it's safer....
    Nice videos!!!
    Cheers.

    • @kitesurfexperiencebypetar
      @kitesurfexperiencebypetar  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, Thank you for your comment :)
      As I understood well you advice people to stay with the bar more towards the middle of the beach and the kite closer to the water?
      I would agree with you, when the wind is super gusty on the beach, as I mentioned in this episode, with a strong awareness of holding and pulling the kite super gently higher.
      As when there is constant side on shore wind on the beach, it is recommended to be with your bar closer to the water or even better in the water, because you want to stay with your body as far away from any obstacle, and many kitesurfers are having a bad habit of steering on the bar to much while launching the kite, so if it happens they are luckily falling in the water or still far from the obstacles. As if the kiter is in the middle of the beach and surrounded with obstacles, if he does the mistake of steering on the bar too much while launching the kite he is in a very great danger.

    • @surfa05
      @surfa05 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kitesurfexperiencebypetar Yes if on shore wind better be in the water an allways be the most far from obstacle or people....!

    How did you film the footage at 11:59? I think you didn't even have the safety leash connected. Did the kite survive? 😅

    • @kitesurfexperiencebypetar
      @kitesurfexperiencebypetar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Nick :)
      no worries I used an old kite that had to be anyway in the trash, but yeah it did survive, it ended up in a swimming pool of a hotel 😅
      And I didn't wanna connect the safety leash, as the safety would not work with the lines twisted around the bar, so it could be dangerous for me.
      it was fun filming it :)

  • @vlaaady
    @vlaaady 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thanks for the video. At one of the launch sites, the wind at low height is weak due to the wind shadow and the wind high up is strong. What happens during the launch is that the kite initially drifts downwind but then picks up lots of wind and hot launches. Any recommendations? The site is far from the water and there is no way to launch toward the water.

    • @kitesurfexperiencebypetar
      @kitesurfexperiencebypetar  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would pull completely the trim line when launching in this kind of conditions.

  • @ericdieulesaint9982
    @ericdieulesaint9982 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I realized i am still making one mistake: when i land the kite, i disconnect chickenloop but i immediately start collecting the lines, instead of first walking towards the kite and securing it.
    Which could be quite dangerous as you showed 😅

    DOWNWIND SETUP IS THE SAFEST. This should be repeated 1000 times. I never understood why instructors kept on telling to set the lines upwind. The reason why it's the safest is because you can easily catch the edge of the wind window as you walk upwind (you can easily see that the kite does not shake anymore as laminar flow becomes the dominant component and turbulent flow is suppressed). That is the position to stop walking and launch the kite.

    This is a great video. After kiting for a few years I've seen some serious accidents and there even have been some deaths in my area. The thing they all have in common is that this was on land and either during launching or landing.
    There are many slight variations on the things that are explained here that are still safe, I for example check the lines and put the chicken loop on a little earlier when walking upwind. I do this because the other person might let go sooner and is likely to be holding a kite.
    The one thing not mentioned in the video however is that if someone is grabbing your kite to land, then once they have the kite you shouldn't just let go of the bar but take a step forward as well. It will remove tension on all lines and allow the helper to put the kite down flat.

    • @kitesurfexperiencebypetar
      @kitesurfexperiencebypetar  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sure, here's a corrected version:
      Yes, it’s true. I didn’t mention walking towards your kite to reduce the tension and make it easier for the assistant to land your kite. I did mention that you should always walk towards your kite to ensure it is well secured or, in some cases, to take your kite if the assistant decides to hold it in a smile position.
      Thank you, I will mention it in one of my next videos 🙏🏻🙌🏼

  • @chrisduc1

    This shows exactly how to not launch your kite . Always launch in direction of the ocean. In your video total wrong. The blue north kite should be positioned closest the sea. Not in front of obstacles

    • @kitesurfexperiencebypetar
      @kitesurfexperiencebypetar  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, you are right; you should not launch your kite too close to an obstacle. Always keep a safe distance around your wind window.
      Can you please explain why you should ALWAYS launch your kite closer to the water and keep yourself, as the kiter, closer to obstacles?
