After recovering from an MCL injury, a swell popped up for Skeleton Bay, and it was my only chance to go for all of 2019. My friend Rob Brown and I dropped everything we were doing, and booked a last minute flight to Africa, only to be greeted with what would end up being the biggest Skeleton Bay swell in 5yrs.
On one of the craziest days of surfing I've ever gotten to be a part of, both Rob and I score waves of our lives, a few times. It was a day I'll never forget. The GoPro footage does no justice to the size of the waves... I'm stoked to have a couple land angles to reveal the height of some, but still nothing shows the size of some of those waves in the evening.
Day 2 brought the longest barrel of my life at 24sec! Rob Brown gets one just as long too!

As a native animal rescuer and surfer in Australia, thank you for helping these entangled seals. Discarded fishing nets and lines are a scourge!!
Big boys don't cry...but I fought back a few tears after these guys cut loose that seal from deep cuts from that fishing line, and shook hands in mission accomplished.... That guy with the net is a good man and hero. The wild life looks absolutely awesome down there. Great photography in this video. Thanks to all involved for sharing your adventures with us and the rest of the world. You guys are bringing us the highlights of your life and a a great show of life there in Namibia.

30 years of travelling and living in Indo, i’ve had my share of barrels..i once got a wave that saw me barrelled 3 times for 3-5 seconds at a time...i went into mental meltdown..lord knows what a 15s barrel does. Thanks for taking us on the journey Brett. One day you’ll you’ll get old like me and still see these waves in your mind’s eye, and they will give you goose bumps as you relive them, replay them and still see individual droplets and colours..thats the beauty of surfing, the really Really good waves/sessions..you never forget them. Can’t wait to see the next vid..
I am so with you on that raindogred. I am in the 2-4 second barrell class going way back as well. Watching these young bucks brings back every droplet and color as you say. Without the rash !!! LOL It's amazing how you can remember 1 swell and one individual wave from 35 years ago. And when your buddies remember it the same exact way you know it was special.... It's crazy how shallow on the shoulder you can paddle for a wave/ still get on it/ then STILL have a 15 second drainer ride, after wave is already freight training in from outside , what a magical goofy footers paradise. Safe travels to all 🤙

Good job my friend watching out for and taking care of the sea life! I would like to think that folks in the fishing industry don’t lose nets on purpose but I don’t think they worry as much for the wild life as they do about having to buy another net! I’m glad to know there are folks out there like y’all who take the time and risk to help these animals out! They sure as hell didn’t ask for a net embedded in their neck but we are still the problem!

Props on wildlife rescue, can’t remember if there are Leopard seals down there but I think they are one seal you don’t want to tangle with, was stoked to read Gerry Lopez story of hearing tigers roar at G-land because it was literally one of the last 20 Javan tigers left in the world(they’re most likely extinct now). Wondered if living and surfing in Outer Banks you’d ever seen another critically endangered predator numbering in the dozens as well-the Red Wolf? The last 2 or 3 dozen wild ones live in Alligator Wildlife refugee which I think is adjacent to northern outer banks.
