    Honda HR-V 2023 looks fantastic on the road, but what does it look like on the inside and does it really offer value for money to Australians in 2023?
    Honda HR-V 2023 comes in two models - Petrol Vi X and Hybrid e:HEV L - not leaving us much of a choice and having about $10000 AUD difference in price between these vehicles.
    I've had a close look at HR-V Vi X Petrol model and wanted to share my honest impressions with you, my friends.

    I still have my Honda Accord Euro 2004. Amazing engine, qulaity built to last. They dont make them like they used to. Honda sadly have become an unreliable company.

      Yeah I'm hearing that they aren't as reliable as before, and I remember driving some Honda - I think early Civic and some Accord, yep - and thought they were amazing. Mind you, I was fresh out of Russia back then, off Ladas etc, so anything looked good to me... These days it's just not value for money, simple as that.

    So true. I felt the same.
    However, you missed one major point.
    HR-V is only 4 seater which makes it the worst value for money in that price range

    • @ValueCarsAU

      I'm sure I missed more than one point, but that's the thing - even without covering "every angle", it already looks like a pretty bad deal.

    I was considering getting it before the test drive, it had a beautiful front design, but considering the price with engine and gear option, I opted for MG ZS 1.5L with CVT and saved a lot of money.

    Honda HRV hybrid version for 47K ... I am buying one ... Great car for small families who dont need to fit 500 suitcases in the boot ... reliable fixed price low maintenance safe car ... No extra charge for choosing a different colour ... the only problem is that honda's fixed price policy has driven dealers a bit mad ... I support a fantastic company like honda and their brave policy ... Look at Toyota: the website price is for example 48K and because its not available opportunists are selling it for 52k ... and no wonder they are happy ... BTW generally speaking I like your reviews and thanks for putting fair reviews ... but this one was not that fair to be honest ... I know you have heaps of Chinese cars to sell but still

    • @ValueCarsAU

      I'm gonna give you one warning - don't try and spill crap here about me having Chinese cars to sell. It makes your stick out too much as one of those Honda salesmen, or worse - giving them a bad name.

So u think my opinion is not tolerable !! ... lets put it this way: you pick 10 cars to review, every car that u review regardlessss you mention Haval 50 times saying that its better than the car being reviewed ... dont you think something might be missing: fairness maybe ... just review the car man ... easy ... go look at "the right car" channel to learn more about proper review .... thanks for the warning though .... that scared the s... out of me

      Fixed price doesn't extend to servicing. They adjust it every year so it's not fixed.

    Dimitri, I always considered HRV to be the poor man's CRV. By that I mean smaller and cheaper but still a Honda SUV for those who want that. Honda has designed a beautiful looking small SUV from the exterior with the new HRV, but they still want it to be the little cheap brother of the CRV - that is why the interior is so lack luster and poverty plagued. I agree with you 100% that it is the poor man's Honda SUV but still at a premium price point which is so disappointing and very much not 2023 where there is much better value elsewhere in this category. Even some of the Japanese and Korean competitors are so much better value.

    • @ValueCarsAU

      I can see your point but think that "in the good-old days" when the quality was not that super obvious between the 2 vehicles, they were occupying slightly different niches - CRV was for a family, and HRV was for a single person with active lifestyle (or a couple). Now - yes, HRV is... I don't know what it is, really. It's just a fail.

    • @ValueCarsAU

      Well for a Hybrid I guess it's not too bad, but the local price is always adjusted to the local income levels too, which makes it much harder to compare

  • @GlowingTube

    Honda have got to be joking, $37K for a plastic steering wheel, only 4 seats and gutless 1.5. No wonder they are not selling. Keep the price low and fix these problems and it will sell, unfortunately Honda can't fix these without pricing it out of contention. Maybe Honda can convert their idle factories in China to supply Australia with better specified cars at a value price?

    • @ValueCarsAU

    Great job mate, Honda is a dying brand in Australia, hence is the fixed pricing for a wanna be luxury brand. Sales figures speak for themselves. They are just trying to keep their US market which is also their biggest selling party. I wouldn’t buy one even if I didn’t care about the asking price since I am pretty sure Honda won’t be in Australia in a few years time.

    • @ValueCarsAU

      Who knows mate, I heard the same about "Ford going under", and yet here are those Rangers beating every sales figure at their extortionist price points... So who knows, really. But no, I wouldn't buy a Honda for the simple reason of not being offered much for our money. ZR-V maybe is a slight deviation from this trend, but it's still - a trend (downward).

    • @rc70ys

      It’s not a dying brand at all you have a huge Asian following on Honda and Toyota.

  • @Unnamed3618

    What logic is there in comparing the ZRV to a HRV? Its nearly 20K more for the ZRV and for what? not much is really that different. If you are going to compare vehicles, do the whole line up or a one to one with a near identical car from a different manufacture.

    • @ValueCarsAU

      The cars are very VERY different and in my humble opinion that I shared in this video you should buy something other than HR-V. That's about it. There might have been a comparison to ZR-V, but as a high-level, obviously not 1:1. But there are always viewers like you who will find something to complain about. Enjoy this response.

    Terrible looking interior. Rear view looks pretty restricted from the video. CVT, if it has a launch gear like Toyota is fabulous. I don't know about Honda. 1.5 litre is a bit light (even my Honda GW is 1.8lt) but not having a turbo is actually a good thing long term. Non turbo Hondas, and other, will last forever. I agree with earlier comments that Honda has lost the plot with their cars. Luckily their bikes are still without peer.

    • @ValueCarsAU

      Problem I see is not that some other cars might not go as "forever" as Toyotas or Hondas. It's that the life is simply too short to give up $37k for a plastic shoebox and try and convince yourself that it's good enough to ride in. That's my view anyway.

    • @ztz818
