    Here's a more permanent solution. Every person that has ever had this happen to them should be permitted to pimphand the engineer that decided it was a good idea to use those weld nuts instead of the square hole that uses the replaceable plastic plug. After all those that decided the direct thread nut was a "good" idea have been beaten sufficiently enough that they no longer use them then no one will ever have to worry about this problem again.

      Hello Robert sorry to hear that if you soak it down for a day or two with PB blaster that will really help and if you can warm it up with the propane torch that will really help once you get it broke loose just a little bit then it will come out and the threads you did mess up will not matter as you screw it out from the front hope this helps you we have another video I can send you as well that may really help you.

      The main issue is its just a tight fit and the corners on the torx are just rounded enough to where that wrench they include won't grab. The bolt is aluminium from what I see so not rusted.
      I'll try a torx socket first, then Vise grips (if they will grab-it's a rounded button head) and if that doesn't work, the method used where I use vise grips from the inside enough to grab the head.
      Either way it will come out. Thanks for those ideas.

    Bad news update on mine.
    I can do neither vise grips nor the idea of locking 2 nuts on the inside and ratcheting out.
    Because....
    When I pulled the panel off, the entire thread range is inside and enclosed. The best way to describe is maybe a really long threaded shoulder that encloses all of the screw threads.
    So that's out.
    Only options now are vise grips on the screw head....which is a button screw head...so that may not work.
    Get an old flat screw driver with a blade slighlty bigger than the torx head, drive in creating a slot to hold.
    Or, drill it out and extract.
    I think my best choice if the screwdriver doesn't work, go on Craigslist and hire someone. That would be way cheaper than me buying tools I don't have.

    • @robertrose3068
      @robertrose3068 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually I want to try something REALLY different.
      I'm going to take the torx anti-theft wrench that came with the screws, apply Gorilla glue, place the wrench in the screw like normal, let it dry, and try that. Low cost, fun experiment. I used it a few times over the years and it always worked. Even on a broken power window part applying plastic to metal.
      Heck, I may even record it.
