switched from X3M35i ( N55 ) to a X4M40i (B58 2 chains ) it's incredible ! my X3 supposed to have 305HP and the X4 370 ... but for sure NOT ! something has changed .. maybe the torque at low RPM . I dont know but I feel the car is more than 400hp. bought a 45.000 KM it's 56.000 no problems for now , very good engine .
I got my B58 and it was stock for only a week. I got it tuned and FBO right away with some E85. It has been reliable since the day I got it. I upgraded the turbo shortly after and it’s been on that set up for a few years and it’s still solid today. I’ve taken it to multiple 1/2 mile events, Mexico trips and have done endless pulls on it. All I had to get done was the injectors and spark plugs recently. It’s crazy when my friends with JDM cars or American cars can’t seem to keep their cars running for long after they do some mods. Meanwhile my BMW hasn’t let me down and I hope I can enjoy it for a while still.
I’m glad to hear your comments. I had a 2009 135 convertible with a N54. I found your channel and followed several of your DIYs. I respect your initiative to tackle the issues yourself (turbo replacement!!) and appreciate your documentation for people like me. I sold that car 4 months ago. I told the buyer about your channel. I bought a 2018 440 Gran Coupe with Track Handling package. I really like this car. I’m ecstatic you have a B58 as well. I look forward to maintaining my car alongside you and yours. Thanks ever so much for your guidance and insight.
Toyota took BMW to a room & scolded them for trying to do things that doesn’t need to be done (electronic water pump etc). & told them to make cars that will work beyond 40,000 miles. On another note, that B58 I6 sounds like a Honda J-series V6 when screaming… which is fantastic!
That's funny you mentioned that. Before I got this X3 M40i with the B58 engine, I had an Accord V6 that had that J-series .. Both sound super nice. Idk I kinda preferred the Accord V6 with the short ram air intake (Vtec sounds were nice!)
I’ve had a 19’ 440i grancoupe for 4 months now, really loving it and I drive it a LOT. Basic maintenance is al it’s needed so far and I’m flooring it daily multiple times. Amazing engine.
I had a n54, hybrid turbos, FBO etc running about 500bhp. I saw your videos and you inspired me to get into a F36 440i Gen 1. Like you, it's been very reliable and it just feels like a big step up in terms of luxury and tech from a E92. I really want to see you make more videos in this car, and I actually thought you sold it, but so pleased to see it still here. Please make more videos about with it and I hope there a further future plans
It's great to see videos like this! Had a lightly driven 2009 Saturn Sky Redline for 13 years that started have "issues" at only 60,000 km. Wanted to get into a newer roadster and was looking into it for a year or so. Actually, I originally thought about the Jag F Type V8 but came across various issues with them so decided on a 2022 BMW Z4 M40i and couldn't be happier. I heard there were very few issues with the B58 and thought Toyota wouldn't have gone with it in the new Supra unless they had faith in it. Nevertheless, it's still nice to see videos like this that confirm it. Thanks!
Yeah I had 2010 335i, once the turbos blew I knew it was time to go B58. I've had my 2018 340i xdrive for almost a year now and I love it! Only pcv failure. That's it. 20 bucks later she was back to normal. Love my Bethany (her name).
Great video! I've always been a Japanese car guy, and have stayed away from BMW due to the unreliability reputation but I finally purchased a 18' 340I Xdrive with ~50K miles due to this motor. Absolutely great motor and it's great to see this thing still solid as a rock for you at your mileage.
@@yearight6294 the used car market demanding about 6-7K more than what I paid for it almost 1.5 years and 25,000KM being put on the dash made it make sense. Sold and now drive a G37 coupe 6MT but I will be back to a 40i 6MT in the future
Gave my son my 2007 335i e93 for a 2018 m240. The car is bullet proof and drives like a dream. With the e93 At 112k miles, now I find myself wrenching my sons car, your videos leading the way. The vanos and timing chain in the back of the m240 does scare me a little.
Great idea for content! I have a 2019 440i M Sport. So far, the B58 is simply great! 77,000 miles. Zero issues. Had it 5 years now and still get excited to drive it. It's a great performer and it's a pretty good looking car too. UPGRADES: Bootmod BM3 Stage 2 (91 octane) Dorch HPFP VRSF downpipe BMS filter KW Stage 3 Coilover Suspension Lowered 1.5" Niche Wheels Rear Diffuser Lower Rocker Panels Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Tires I considered Stage 3, big turbo, cold air intake, etc. to get to 550+ HP but really didn't want to go E85 only b/c I drive a lot and E85 is not available at every gas station here in Cali. The car is plenty quick and I honestly can 't image needing much more power. I already run out of road too soon at just 420 HP. :)
@@papa_pt Not just steering, but their stupid downgrade of going the Tesla route for climate control and volume (Gotta use touchscreen now to change the A/C, so dumb...). But yeah, the engines and trannies are actually really good for the current generation.
While I do hear that the B58 is reliable mostly, I’m really interested in the reported injector failures, cylinder scoring (namely cylinder 6) & coolant leaks. I bought the same car as you last year with 7k miles on it but I’m hesitant to tune it because of the posts I’ve seen on Bimmerpost plus all the high profile TH-cam B58s blowing up recently. Some posts I’ve saw were cars that were stage 1 only too. Really hope you can chime in.
@@aidanquinn5498planning to get one, not tuning. I’m guessing a lot of these problems occur on the engine due to tunes and beating on the engine. Have some friends say it’s good without any oil leaks.
My 2016 340xi has 90k. Still running strong. Replaced the upper control arms last week. That's all I've done. Going to replace shocks and do different lowering springs. Almost sold it, but I'm going to keep it until it falls apart.
Any updates? I’m debating on whether or not to get a M2 next year and I have a 2016 340i with 93k miles, did my upper control arms and had the coolant housing replaced recently Trying to see how long I can drive this car far without running into huge maintenance issues
@@512adms7it's still running strong. Only at 102k now. I don't drive it in the winter, I use my Jeep. Now I work remote lol. I did replace my struts. Been on mhd stage 2 since 50k. Xhp stage 2 as well.
I have a 2018 340i xDrive M Sport that I purchased in 2019 with 3,100 miles. It now has around 21,000 (I'm retired hence the low mileage). Anyway, a VANOS solenoid was replaced at 10,000 miles under warranty and I dumped the run flats at 13,000 miles. Otherwise, this car has been great, we averaged 36 mpg (100% highway miles for this tank) on a trip to Canada and I get 21 around town. I really like this car.
i have never been more happier with a bmw in the 4 years ive been driving ive had 2 m54,(530,325),N52(328i), m62 4.4 x5, but holy fuck ive had my b58 540i for 20k miles and its been the absolute best a car can be in every aspect MPG, maintenance cost, fun, RELIABILITY, just being a fucking bmw and the absolute savage that it is
Love that you made this! I bought a 440 GC back in January and besides getting used to a “large” car, it’s been pretty good. Plan is to keep her for a while
I’ve been watching your videos for a really long time and I happened to notice the streets you were driving by glad to see your local ! Welcome to San Diego
I owned a 2007 530i Ordered from the factory with the N52. That was the most reliable car I owned. Flawless to 180K miles until some bonehead t-boned me one day. I loved that car but now have a 2024 X5 xdrive50e. Looking forward to putting many miles on it with the B58.
i have one 430i xdrive for only 6 months and it is a nightmare, it is at my work location with a drivetrain malfunction and check engine lignt which will not start at all
I can attest to the better builds. I have a 2015 f82 m4 with s55 engine. I had a bad fuel pump at 40k replaced under warranty. Now 80k miles, I’ve had zero maintenance issues. And it gets 23mpg city and 28-29 on highway. Not getting rid of this jewel.
I always swore I never would get a BMW because of reliability despite lusting over them for 20 years (e46 M3 was new when I started driving). Well, a 2018 RWD 340i MPPSK has been my daily for just under a year now. Moved into it from the B8.5 S4, because I always go for highly mod-able yet reliable cars. Researched it and found out the times had changed and so I updated my outlook. Couldn’t be happier with my decision. I love my car, and just an engine tune/trans flash made it rip so hard. Down pipe and HPFP upgrade are sitting in my garage for spring. Occasional ethanol mix and I don’t think I need more from it. That’s already enough to put the car into the mid 500s at the crank. Thanks for sharing your findings. It was content like this that helped me find my perfect daily and update my outlook enough to go for it.
Thanks for sharing Musa. My next car ever has to be a B58 for sure! I did a lot of research on this motor and everything seems okay. I think the most significant problems on the N54 are the injectors which were terrible until the index 12 ones, the first gen HPFP's and the crappy Mitsubishi turbos. Oil leaks are expected on BMWs, hahaha. Have a great weekend, Dutch regards, Nico.
This makes me want to part ways with my problem child- 2008 335xi e92. Love the car, but the little issues are annoying. Not to mention, the 440 GC would be better with my kiddos.
@@VehicularDIY I don’t suppose you’ve owned or driven a 540i with the b58? Those seem to be easier to find. However, if the difference between that and a 440i Gran Coupe is similar to the e92 vs e60 535… I’ll probably just be patient. E60 was too “boat like” and I even thought little things like throttle response and exhaust note were dead comparatively.
I own a 2017 BMW 540i with the B58 engine with 22,328 miles on it at this time. I purchase as a used Pre-certified BMW from a local BMW Dealership. HISTORY: The vehicle was first used as a dealership (1st owner) fleet car. It was sold by the dealership to a male customer (2 owner) with just over 2,000 miles. It was returned back to the same dealership with just under 10,000 miles on the odometer as a trade in on a new Alpine BMW series. It was sold again (3 owner) to a lady, who kept it 2 years and put 20,875 miles on it. Lastly, the 2017 BMW 540i was once again sold to me (4th owner) in February 2021 with 20,879 miles on the odometer. I have owned it just over 19 months now and put 1,449 miles on her with no issues at all to report. I been told by BMW Service Department it’s a G30/B58. It is one step below the 7 series but you have almost all the options as a 7 series, so I don’t see any down fall per say. It’s automatic but you do have the shift paddles on the steering wheel. On the middle console just below the shifter there is a very large black/ white lettering adapted button towards the right there’s 3 more square buttons for driving modes. They are Comfort, Sport (Sport plus) also it has Eco too. This 540i BMW has a lot of options (so many) added to it to even list here, originally sticker price for $92,987 (I didn’t pay that amount) so it was a fantastic find in my opinion. It still has warranties too. MAINTENANCE: Honestly, all I’ve done to this car since purchased over 19 months ago, Its annual Maintance oil changes, brake fluid flush, washer fluid top off, balance/rotation of the tires and a front in liniment suggested by the service department, that’s it. MPG: It takes Premium Fuel (89) and I seem to get almost 28 miles to the gallon combination of city and highway. I think it’s estimated for 30MPG but I do speed a little bit lol. I personally can swear that the B58 engine with the eight speed transmission combination is outstanding! I would highly recommend this vehicle or any other BMW series with this engine and transmission set up combination to be very reliable and outstanding! Great video! From one Texan to another. Peace ✌️!
@@NoDidddy - I don’t think you will have any problems but make sure you get its history like I did. The parts guy at any BMW dealership should be able to pull up your history of your choice of a BMW vehicle by its VIN number. This gets you all the information on everything in that (vehicle) BMW like all its options at the time it was built from the factory. They should also have a history on its maintenance too. My dealership was totally up front with me every step of the way with my purchase. If it’s not a BMW dealership then make sure to get the VIN number (most important) and take it to a BMW dealership and explain your about to purchase a used BMW and your just a little concerned about it’s history. Most BMW dealerships for the most part will help you and you might just be surprised like I was with my interaction with this particular local BMW dealership. Why? Because the way I was treated made my decision easy to let them handle all my 2017 540i BMW needs for life. I wish you the best G-MAN Peace ✌️!
@@NoDidddy - Remember G30-B58 is what you are looking for …. The year (BMW) models are between 2017-2021 if you definitely looking for this particular vehicle setup. The EWG N55 cars are pretty damn reliable as well. Just got a f15 sDrive 35i x5 for the wife. Ridiculously nice well rounded package and it's got over 100k on it
@@VehicularDIY yeah. Coming from owned an auto n54 that needed literally everything and then another manual n54 I made a drift daily car. Was pleasantly surprised the x5 made a 7 hour drive home, driving hard here and there, no problem. Ready for any problem when it shows itself but feels extremely solid for the year and miles
I found that the B58 and the ZF transmission have been quite reliable so far. It's the other stuff I worry about with my 540i. So far have had to change out one axle and both front bearings and getting ready to change out the rear.
Great video: subbed & liked! What do you think is the better option: a 340i Xdrive 6SP Manual (I love stick shift cars) or a 44i Gran coupe? Thank you in advance!
Just bought a used m240i and the a/c is toast on it (46k miles). Going to cost $3,000, thankfully the dealership is covering the costs since they missed it on their inspection. Engine wise seems to be in perfect condition despite first owner averaging 21mpg. Must've been bagging the piss out of it.. but so have I :)
I’ve had an F31 for 3 years now. Previous car was a 135i w/N55. Before that was an E91 M sport. F31 reliability is better but the steering sux in comparison.
BMW B series literally best engine in the world. Not even coming from me. That engine been raised by awards already When Toyota pick this motor for their next gen legendary car, that itself should tell
I have a 2019 F36 440iX (even in the same color as yours Carbon BLK) and am now at 25k miles. Only issue thus far was a blown turbo which was under warranty and Driver Seat Motor. The car does burn more oil and usually have to top off every 2-3 weeks but I absolutely love this car as my daily driver. Upgraded the intake and installed a Catless DP, JB4 with BEF and have been very satisfied. Still have some more ideas in mind but am definitely satisfied with the B58 gen1 and the quality of the car.
still have the 2009 E90 N54 335Xi. no leaks at 190k km just changed the water pump as it failed. also have the 2020 G20 M340i. both great cars. the new one is fun and sounds awesome, fully loaded, lots of gadgets. but i like both cars. kinda miss the hydraulic steering of the E90.
We picked up a 2021 X7 and so far it's been great. What are your thoughts on the slightly newer mild hybrid systems? So far it's been trouble free and seems easy enough to replace if anything did go wrong. Think it's on the 2020 M340i and a few other B58s as well.
Apparently the S58 is even more robust. Some say it will be a legend like the 2JZ, and if everyone could pack up their purist whining and watch the tare down videos for a balanced perspective. You'll see that besides the thinner connecting rods-and fact that aluminum will never be as robust as cast iron-you'll see it's still cranking out 2JZ power. With shorter connecting rods, wider bore, and lower compression ratio, this is engineered for HIGH BOOST, and high redlines.
Hopefully, I had a G80 with the S58 and it was problem free but definitely not in the same territory with regards to fuel economy and efficiency but it's not built for that. It was an animal at speed.
The B58, circa 2020 when the GR Supra was introduced, has benefited from Toyota's collaboration with BMW. I have a 2024 Supra with B58 and could not be happier. BMW is now rated #1 in Consumer Reports magazine's best to worst auto companies for their vehicles': Performance Ride Handling Interior Infotainment Fuel economy Reliability
I've had my 540 for a year and the collant leaked twice, 24.5 mpg driving carefully It's a direct injection engine, how come I never hear anyone talking about walnut blasting?
The B58 is modular family, same block for diesel and gasoline motors, so it is a very strong block. No oil leaks is a very good new nearly unbelievable in a BMW 6 cilinder engine now a days, so congratulations for the reenginiered reliability. Which is the service for the intake cooling water circuit ? BimmerN53
I'll look that up, would be good to tackle that for maintenance. I'll go ahead and do some maintenance on this car now, including the diffs and trans fluid etc.
@@VehicularDIY I have a 2018 440i xDrive Gran Coupe, as far as I can tell the same as yours. Same color even. I'm very glad I found your channel, since the B58 is relatively new it's kind of hard to find videos on upgrades and preventative maintenance. I only really started getting into cars the past couple years, having no prior knowledge not even how to do an oil change. That's the first thing I learned. Since then, I've been trying to DIY what I can, if not just to learn. I've read that I should change the trans fluid, but not drain all of it, rather just about half and then refill. Is this true? Either way, I'd love to see a video of yours on that service. I'm only at 58k miles, so I won't be doing that for probably another 40k miles. Next item for me is changing spark plugs and ignition coils. Thanks for the B58 content.
Interesting. I have a 2016 340i with the m sport package with 58k miles with the gen 1 b58 and I’ve definitely had/have a couple issues. The previous owner stated he had the mechanical water pump replaced, regardless it’s leaking again and I’m gonna have to replace it. Also I have the infamous belt chirp noise under wot shifting which isn’t necessarily a reliability issue but it will require me to change the belt tensioner and belt itself which I might as well do anyways since I’m doing the mechanical water pump. Also I’m really not too impressed with how the suspension has held up. My struts feel like they’re definitely getting worse and worse (maybe it’s just the trash poorly maintained roads here on Oahu, Hawaii) but regardless I feel let down by them. Also there’s definitely some control arm issues going on as well, probably the thrust arms like explained in this video. But I feel like In general the bushings they used for the suspension components were weak and soft…
Buy VAC monoball upper control arms. It will transform the car so much. Night and day, steering is great, handling is better and braking is improved so much! I did put upper strut mount brace on too. It helped by itself. For the rear, get a subframe brace. 😳🤯
@@Building-IT thank you so much for taking the time to help me out and make these excellent suggestions! I really do appreciate it!! One other question: have u heard anything about the Turner Motorsport Thrust Arm Monoball Upgrade - Pre-installed Arms? I saw them on ECS tuning and they run about $460 USD… would those be comparable to the VAC monoballs as you suggested?
Even mainstream engines can fail in that time frame - I personally would not buy a vehicle with a high performance engine and expect 10 years with no issues. And you just never know. My wife’s Mazda CX9 blew its engine in a year and required total replacement. My Mercedes GL V8 is at 11 years and 125,000 mile, and required one $500 repair to replace a coolant fitting.
Was the transmission fluid ever changed ? And is it ok for me to do the transmission service on my 96k 340i if it has never been done ? Sorry for the questions
Hi I’m a new subscriber to your channel. I had a 2015 435i gran coupe that was totaled in December 2023. I loved that car. Never had any major issues with it for the 2 years I had it. Now I just bought a 2017 440i coupe rwd. It has the M package on it. This car feels a lot more aggressive than the 435. That being said, I’d like to be in the 450 - 500 hp range but have it reliable for a daily driver. Ive heard of bootmod3 and some other things. What would you suggest I do. I put a few things on my 435 like a charge pipe, cold air intake, valve Tronic exhaust. I wasn’t real happy with the valvetrinic. So I’d like to make it sound nice but not super loud with all the burbles. I really don’t like when I hear exhausts like that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Such a great car bro. Wanted to ask, i have a 2018 740i with the B58 engine (6 cylinders) now at 82,000 miles. What should i change on it to keep it running throw 100k without having to see any issues?
Hmmm. Got my gen 1 b58 as a cpo with 36k miles a few years ago. It has 52k miles and I idled it for an hour helping an elder neighbor. Was parked our front and a neighbor banged on my door that my car was on fire in the street. Wasn’t but smoking like hell. Oil coming out mufflers. Drove fine to dealer, no power loss, no check engine light.. Dealer says bad turbo. Waiting on parts from Germany. $6500 repair in process. I babied my car. Brake flushes my self, Amsoil 0w20. Mg flasher tune stage 0 just for burble and she went up in smoke. Not pcv either as dealer tested that first.. what the hell. Hope it was turbo only because I love that car more than my 23 g80 manual. Comments?
They ripped you off, the PCV didn't fail but valve sometimes gets stuck open if you let it idle for long periods. She starts puffing smoke like a chimney and singing like a tea kettle. By the oil fill cap, there is a second cap, that cap houses the PCV Diaphragm. If you let it idle, that diaphragm wears faster. Had the same issue. When I removed it, it was cracked and the membrane of the diaphragm was super thin. Replacing the diaphragm fixed the issue.
@@Tachyon836 I thought so but they measured the PCV valve pressure in the crank case and it passed.. They have a special pressure sensor tool that looks like the oil fill cap with a hose and electronics. They put a new PCV valve on and it was still spitting oil. Also the old PCV diaphragm did not have the death whistle and upon inspection it was not torn.. They removed the exhaust and we could see the turbo splines looked weird and charred oil into the catalytic converter. The oil seal failed. Earlier symptoms when I added a stage 1 tune from MG flasher, the transmission sounded like there were rocks in it spinning. Also the boost was also wavy and not linear on acceleration since I bought it. Also the TMAP screw was missing on the intake, furthering the suspicion that this car was over boosted at one time and was a lease turn in and any tune was not caught at CPO, as I bought it from a dealer as a CPO. I never ragged on it and the first sign of trouble with MG flasher I uninstalled it and never leaned on this car because I take care of my cars. The extended idle finally overheated the idle turbo and the oil seal in the shaft must have finally let go or was worn down so that big heat caused the oil to get past it.. The turbo was replaced and this car had phenomenal power that it never had new.. I suspect I had a crippled turbo this entire time and it took that idle to expose it more.. Oh, and no more transmission rattle, which may have actually been turbo rattle... all good now
My 2011 535i xDrive (100,000 mileage) is having drivetrain malfunctions. At heavier acceleration the drivetrain loses power (no check engine light appears). Have you experienced this issue before? She's in good condition.
Any ideas what a code P0446 would be? I'm pulling that code and it says vent control circuit....I replaced the gas cap and fuel breaker valve that's located right on top of the engine. Thanks

Nice, congrats. Yeah the B58 is a great replacement for N54 owners. The torque almost hits as hard down low and the sound is great.

Agreed, my current daily is a 2017 440i xDrive Gran Coupe, love everything on it, not a single issue.
How’s your car going now? What’s the update. And how many km’s do you do roughly a year
Great video! I've always been a Japanese car guy, and have stayed away from BMW due to the unreliability reputation but I finally purchased a 18' 340I Xdrive with ~50K miles due to this motor. Absolutely great motor and it's great to see this thing still solid as a rock for you at your mileage.

Gave my son my 2007 335i e93 for a 2018 m240. The car is bullet proof and drives like a dream. With the e93 At 112k miles, now I find myself wrenching my sons car, your videos leading the way. The vanos and timing chain in the back of the m240 does scare me a little.

I have a 2019 440i M Sport. So far, the B58 is simply great!
77,000 miles. Zero issues. Had it 5 years now and still get excited to drive it. It's a great performer and it's a pretty good looking car too.

Dorch HPFP
VRSF downpipe

KW Stage 3 Coilover Suspension
Lowered 1.5"
Niche Wheels

I considered Stage 3, big turbo, cold air intake, etc. to get to 550+ HP but really didn't want to go E85 only b/c I drive a lot and E85 is not available at every gas station here in Cali. The car is plenty quick and I honestly can 't image needing much more power. I already run out of road too soon at just 420 HP. :)
This is really nice, feels like BMW is going back to its roots :P

Engine and trans are better than ever. Problem is steering feel on every BMW after 2011 is garbage
@@papa_pt Not just steering, but their stupid downgrade of going the Tesla route for climate control and volume (Gotta use touchscreen now to change the A/C, so dumb...). But yeah, the engines and trannies are actually really good for the current generation.

Good news for me. I own a 2018 440i with under 30k on it. The car is awesome. Thanks
Keep them stock you won’t have any issues

Any updates? I’m debating on whether or not to get a M2 next year and I have a 2016 340i with 93k miles, did my upper control arms and had the coolant housing replaced recently

BMW is practically perfect now!
Not getting rid of this jewel.
side note - this is probably my fav channel on youtube.
I see a lot of posts claiming decent gas mileage and still don't know how they do it. I can barely break 20 mpg's on a 435i.
This makes me want to part ways with my problem child- 2008 335xi e92. Love the car, but the little issues are annoying. Not to mention, the 440 GC would be better with my kiddos.
Yeah the rear hatch is great for loading stuff.
What year 440i is that? Never says lol...
Peace ✌️!
Thanks for this in depth review, thinking about trading my G37 coupe for a B58 but was scared about reliability.

I’ve got a 2016 340i with 63k miles and had the belt chirp too. I did the belt and tensioner about about 3 weeks ago. So far so good.
Buy VAC monoball upper control arms. It will transform the car so much. Night and day, steering is great, handling is better and braking is improved so much! I did put upper strut mount brace on too. It helped by itself.
For the rear, get a subframe brace. 😳🤯

Just got a 2018 440i GC with 101k on it and it runs significantly better than the 2013 E92 335I I just had with only 65k on it
Hi, can you tell what OIL are you running on it?
How has it been in the last year? Modern B58's seem pretty good but I worry about years 6-10 or so.
Any comments on reliability of a 2020 840i and that iteration of the B58?
Good to hear for sure. Bought a Toyota Supra 23 mt.

@michealwinter realy?
Oh, and no more transmission rattle, which may have actually been turbo rattle... all good now
@@chrishardin4821 Then perhaps they were right, upon hearing more information about the case.
My 2011 535i xDrive (100,000 mileage) is having drivetrain malfunctions. At heavier acceleration the drivetrain loses power (no check engine light appears). Have you experienced this issue before? She's in good condition.
Yeah if it's under load I'd look at coils and spark plugs first.
@@VehicularDIY Thank you for the reply! Spark plugs were changed a few months ago and the coils look fine.
Fuel filter, or map sensor/ air filter
I think I missed the video on the BOV install.
As always coming with the 🔥
Thicwhips experienced a spun rod on a B58. Are there still some gremlins somewhere ?
Any ideas what a code P0446 would be? I'm pulling that code and it says vent control circuit....I replaced the gas cap and fuel breaker valve that's located right on top of the engine. Thanks
Which year is it ..was thinking of getting a f30 2018 340i its got 98 000km on the clock
AWSOME MAN great video. yeah im thinking about buying a X3 M40i so same B58 engine as that i think. looking for a 2019 thats last year of those nice exhaust pops. could be a Gen 2 or TU but its no mild hybrid BS. anyone has any input on the X3. thanks
Can you walk through the gran coupe and all the things to look for? I’m in the market for a 440 GC and there aren’t many videos on them.
I can look into doing that, not sure the list would be very long but I can do some research. Is there a particular thing you are worried about?
@@VehicularDIY mainly the differences between the F30 and the F36 from your experience. Chassis feel, suspension nuances if any, and reliability/quality concerns with the gran coupe style. I have an E90 right now and it’s one of the most solidly put together car I’ve ever felt, I’m wondering if that feel is there with the GC.
Yeah, that's good content I love my N54's but if I can push 400hp out of a B58 without issues maybe someday.
The cool 'sound' when in sport mode is piped through the speakers. 😉 I have a 340i xDrive (2015) but the shaft seals ("Simmerring" in German) at the rear differential are slowly leaking and already need to be replaced with 94k km (58k miles) and mostly moderate driving (apart from the occasional >200 km/h blast on the German Autobahn), the long time average consumption is 8,6 litres per 100km.
One quick question. What oil do you put ? What viscosity ? 0-20,30 ?
Hmmm seems like a good replacement candidate for my e46. My m54 is at 240k miles lol
Not sure how much longer it will go before head gasket is needed… I drive it hard and it’s still fun
@8:45 there is a tiny leak on the pan lol
I've had a 2009 335xi coupe 6mt N54 for 6 years now. I plan on getting another BMW (Newer one) and was contemplating which choice I should make. Im on the fence between the 2023 M240i xdrive VS the 2023 M2 (Hopefully comes in xdrive) Which would be better for a long term car? Any suggestions on the 2 choices would be great.
What do you think about a M340i with 48k miles. You think it’ll last
This is not spam... I really need help with this...
My 2017 BMW 540i G30 just burned a valve #4 cylinder. (105k miles) I had the vsfr high flow cat, upgraded charge pipe, k&n air filter, new B58TU Fuel pump, and Bootmod3 Stage 2+ 93 octane.
I am beyond depressed! Single Dad with special needs, kid. I was told I need a new engine. 21k installed. I just can't. I still owe 25k, and it is my only car. I have nothing right now and am about to lose my job. I can't get my kids to the doctors, etc... If you can reach out to your connections and see if they can help, I would be forever grateful 🙏
I only want to get this fixed. I dont want money. Just to get it fixed. They couls uae my care dor content...
God bless you, brother!!!

did you service the gear box (oil changed) at any mileage ?
hey I got my n55 e92 4 1/2 years ago @ 116k miles with these past 2 years running mhd stage 2+ and it just broke 150k not long ago… it’s been pretty reliable *frantically knocks on wood*😂 really only been maintenance and plastic parts failing… BUT my center support bearing did just go so that’s next on the list :)
After watching your video would you recommend anyone to extend their warranty? If the B58 is so reliable why do it.
