I loved the episode. It explores this morbid curiosity I often have about people that hurt me. I want to understand them. I think this showcased that perfectly. And I related to Osha. Because Qimir intentionally leaving his guard down would disarm me too. And I fully understood why Sol wasn't picking up on Mae replacing Osha right away. He was distraught. He was an unbalanced mess. That could have something to do with why the ship was malfunctioning so much. Someone so strong in the force breaking down... causing everything to break down around him.

You're speaking truth. I've noticed that when people brag about SW content it's usually around legends material, A New Hope, & The Empire strikes back. The prequels just started getting love. A lot of that is due to The Clone Wars cartoons. Disney is doing fine, they don't always hit the mark but as a casual, I am satisfied.

So Sol knowingly abandoned Osha on a hostile planet, as did Mae? Doesn't he say at the end of the 6th episode that they have to find and save Osha? I think he also implies Osha is with Qimir, not sure how he knows that.
I think the biggest issue is the writers have 8 30-minute episodes, and a complicated plot. Mandalorian was 10 30-minute episodes and a straight forward plot. I, for one, am glad Disney let us have something more 'adult'. I wish they gave the people working on it time to tell their story.
That said, what a shame Michael & Greg focused more on the negatives for the majority of the outro. Honestly, that may be what some viewers wish to hear, but not for me. I'd more intrigued to hear Star Wars experts like Michael speak on his elaborate theories about Qimir's past, his potential master, or the larger mysteries surrounding Sol or the Brendok coverup. Perhaps life circumstances of our beloved reactors may have affected this viewing experience. In that case, we give you our blessings. If not, the overwhelming negativity bias may be a product of succumbing to the herd mentality trend of critiquing the show, which would be unfortunate. In either case, I hope ep 7 viewing wouldn't continue this downward cyclic trend. Just my two cents. Cheers.

Hearing what Qimer was saying about the dark side and losing attachments and then cutting to Sol experience all this I thought was brilliant. This might be simultaneously my favourite episode and least favourite episode. Every single thing with Osha and the Sith, here for it. The melodrama, the thinly veiled romance, the first performances that feel human, the exploration of the dark side from a sith, Manny's yoked ass traps, everything. Then there's the crap with the furball and Mae that i could really not give a single fuck about. Oh the droid is evil now so its red because thats the factory settings apparently. Sol is the only reason that storyline isnt something i just fast forwarded thru. And then theres the rest of the Jedi. I don't think i care at all. The thing is, i love the IDEAS. I love that the Jedi need to play politics, i love that they need to be imperfect to maintain their version of peace, i love that theyre willing to throw Sol under the bus to maintain everyone else. Jedi are supposed to emotion free, that means they are inherently utilitarian and i love the IDEA of that being the case. That osha stuff bothered me so much, why would she have been good this whole time, watch this guy kill her friends, then he just says a couple of pretty weak lines like "when you lose everything is when u become free" , oh ya that would definitely convince me to think about joining the guy who killed my friends, and jus like that she doesn't kill him when he gives her the chance and is at least thinking of joining him. Absolutely stupid as stupid gets cant believe so many people saying that was good.
@@jacobjackson2787 I think we'll learn that she wasn't all good the entire time. I mean there's a reason she "failed" right? And that she isn't a Jedi anymore. Unless the episodes are getting cut in half by executives, the writers don’t know how to pace or structure an episode of television. The last three installments have been half episodes.
Since Disney+ went to a commercial subscription option almost all their shows have pacing issues because you have people used to writing fo cable or film trying to figure out where to stick commercial breaks.
im not sure why either he or osha wearing jeans is such a big deal to them. they live in a faster than light galactic society. osha is a blue collar worker in an illegal job working and maintaining a ship. she wears the cloths an everyday person might, jeans happen to fall into that catagory.
I'm LOVING Manny Jacinto's character in everything he does in this show thirst trap and all XD I was surprised by the Jedi being unalived in the last episode but I dont feel emotionally connected to their characters anyway, especially Yord who was super annoying. I actually liked Mae a bit more, Osha seems annoying and on a high horse at times. I need the TRUTH to be revealed !!
BLAH BLAH Manny Jacinto tho. That man is hotter than Anakin on Mustafar. Also, Greg, cute furry creatures are NOT “Disney.” They are “Star Wars.” As in Chewie and Wookies, as in the Ewoks, as in every creature besides Jabba the Hutt
One thing to remember is that Qimir is a Sith. And of the "Rule of 2"-era, no less. Whatever he says, especially about himself, should be called into question. After all, Darth Bane's "Rule of 2"-Sith didn't survive and manage to further their grand plan until Palpatine successfully completed it by being honest and honorable..
The dialogue in this episode was actually very good compared to the others. The main problem that this show has had is how the story is split into eight short episodes. The pacing is meant for binging, not watching one episode a week.
This episode was “Guilty as sin”-the Star Wars mash-up and I loved it 😂 the Qimir/Osha scenes are amazing. Kinda iffy on the “ooo the droid is evil now because it has red eyes” stuff but overall I like where this *could* be heading. I hope they can fully develop this to its potential
I personally am loving this show. I'm typically not a fan of the standard high fantasy side preferring when tropes are done well or broken. Like new hope, love empire, hate everything else till Last Jedi, Rouge One and Andor. This though hits for me. Also I think a good representation of the Jedi at this time can be taken from a quote from Dragon Age Inquisition by Solas on organizations being inherently corrupt. "you think organizations to be inherently corrupt?" "Given enough time, yes. To survive an organization must devote resources to maintain itself. Those resources accumulate until the original purpose, no matter how pure, is lost." "You make the Seekers(Jedi) sound like a mindless beast." "A mindless beast, no matter how mindless, will die and give way to a successor. An organization is eternal. There are always corrupt Men who hoard power for their own gain and there are always honourable men who hoard power to fight them."
if you notice venestra uses a lightsaber whip and the mark on the back of the sith is a whip slash i think when osha said jedi master she was correct and that it was the green lady that stabbed him in the back with that purple lightsaber whip

I am legitimately confused by the number of people whose suspension of disbelief apparently ends with "haircut". I never want to see any of these people watch the animated Mulan.
It was such a lame lazy trope to use and makes 0 sense whatsoever even forgetting the haircut. How does mae know how to act like osha, who she’s had one conversation with in 16 years. These are two twins separated on extremely different paths and they look act and sound exactly the same.
10:22 the similarity to Maul’s statement when Ezra asks him if he was once a Jedi (paraphrasing here) “i was once a force wielder, long ago long long ago.”
21:37 Didn't we see Dexter Jettster's buttcrack in Attack of the Clones? I remember his pants drooping down and him using his arms to pull them up when he hugged Obi-Wan. But I don't recall 100% if his buttcrack was shown or not!
The weakest part of the show were the sisters. Boring and lack personality. This episode finally goes a bit deep on them, specially Osha being proactive in the plot instead of just reacting to everything. I feel they remain too shallow as characters, we really needed a deeper episode at the beginning for them. Still, Sol and Qimir are carrying the show. And I'm excited to see how this ends.
The Twins play by same actress right? So, it's feel weird or difficult to understand the character. Trying to guess who is who. I thinks they should at least like real twins actors. Instead of someone to act like one.
I've begun to suspect that Qimir/the Stranger may be the Acolyte of either Darth Tenebrous or Darth Plagueis, and he's looking for his own Acolyte to help him fully become Sith.
Disney is a family brand and so is SW. There's nothing wrong with that. When it comes to HotD, a background actor sucking on a prosthetic penis isn't edgy or mature. It's juvenile and it looked absolutely terrible.

This episode was so intriguing yet so frustrating at the same time. I think they actually have a plan for where the franchise is going, but they're not really telling us. There are so many theories about what's really happening. Could Sol be on the dark side? Is Qimir Vernestra's former Padawan? Is he more than what he seems, perhaps Plagueis using Sith alchemy to disguise his true self? Or could Qimir be the first Ren? So many questions and no reveals it's all surface level stuff. I also wish they would make these episodes longer; we need more time for development. This show might have been better as a binge-watch. I don't know a lot about Star wars but it seems like those marks on his back were from a whip. It did seem a little thirst trapping this episode but I was wondering do you think they were using physical thirst trap to represent the mental aspect of him trying to turn her to the dark side?
My theory from the start is that Sol is a master of the dark side and is the main villain of the Acolyte. It's well written because I thought it was obvious but almost everyone in videos and comments seem to love him because he's the "good guy". He reminds me of a certain Palpatin. May & Osha's birth seems to mirror a little to Anakin's birth (born without a father) as well as their importance with/to the force. I think this show's main point is to show that there is always two sides to every coin & that the jedi have history with falling blind to the rise of the dark side. I can write a book but I'll leave it at that.
I kinda agree with Ur criticisms on the show. I feel the show has a lot of potential with it's concepts but the execution has been poor and when I compare the show to some of the high republic books in phase 1 I currently started, the high republic books are giving me what I thought the show was gonna deliver, a new era in the jedi and a fresh take on what it means to be one. I like watching the show, I have fun but it's definitely lacking in areas. It doesn't make me think of it as the high point of star wars but it also doesn't make me think, well I'm done with star wars. Mostly I think the show is kinda just mediocre which is a pity as I hope this doesn't discourage star wars from moving past the Skywalker era more
FYI If you're wondering about the travel sickness comment regarding Venestra, it's because when she was younger she used to have powerful force visions when travelling through hyperspace. It's explained in the books/comics
🌪️ Lucas film has got a big problem on hand. They are trying to appease a fan base that is literally generations apart. You have fans that are very young all the way to as old as I am in my 50s. Writing stories to cover that complete age range is very hard to do. the best way to go about it is within the universe storylines for one group of the generation and create a separate group of stories for the older generation.
i think i agree. you have fans of the og trilogy, fans of the prequels and even younger people who were introduced to star wars through the sequel trilogy. disney is trying to appease everyone at the same time, but the issue is, each group likes wildly different things about star wars
Either too few episodes, or they are not long enough. Feels like they are squeezing too much into too little. There are more interesting things than actual payoffs.
As far as the commitment to a genre, I feel the reason a lot of them are struggling with tone and sticking to a genre is probably tied to infusing them with camp/Star Wars-isms. It's like they're afraid to settle, especially post sequel trilogy
I’m starting to suspect that maybe Qimir/The Stranger isn’t the true lord of the Sith but rather an apprentice that failed to live up to the standards of the true master. Like he was a Jedi Youngling but somehow fell into the hands of the true Sith Lord. And he may actually be older than he looks because according to Palpatine his master Darth Plagueis he could influence the Force to prolong life, which would also explain why none of the Jedi recognized him.
@@marshsundeen good theory. Maybe he was betrayed by Vernestra, found by a Sith Lord, trained in the dark side, and now wants to keep that legacy going.

the story of the acolyte for the next two episodes: Qimir, a former Jedi apprentice turned rogue, is currently on the planet Bal'demnic where he will eventually be killed by Plagueis in the final episode, along with Vernestra and Osha, effectively concealing the Sith's presence all along. On the other side of the plot, Mae kills SoL and eventually becomes a Jedi. SoL takes the blame for all the mess. The end.
How would Mae be allowed to become a Jedi after this? She is far too old. They’re not just going to let her walk in a be like hey I’m a Jedi now. Ridiculous.

I must say I love Manny Jacinto and his portrayal of Qimir. Guy is soooo good and he has the best lines too.
I'm sure Qimir is reaaaally old. He is like 10-15 years older than Osha, but speaks like it was like decades ago. He is the most complex character in this show, I'm kinda sad only one episode is left to put things together...

And a whole lot of moons.
Padawan Troye Sivan this episode would be happy.
Also vernestra getting "sick" during hyperspace is a reference to high republic books where she got visions during hypersspace travel.
The unknown planet is meant to be Bal’demnic which was a planet with rocky tropical islands and cortosis deposits from the Darth Plageuis novel where Plageuis and his master used it. It does give off the vibes of Ahch-To though.
Qimir having railings on his island makes him OSHA compliant....🌝
I do want to say, about Sol not recognizing, I think Mae spelled it out. Sol sees what he wants to see, and he wants to see Osha.
You can literally see the fear & anger in his face. Our boy Sol is clouded by the dark side.
he was very frazzled on the ship with mae around. His guilt was taking his focus away
Just made sol look stupid, mae was making it obvious from the beginning that she wasn't osha, u'd think he could sense that its a different person, or seeing as he can apparently read minds he would read her mind when he separates from twins and and she comes back acting weird and he even gives her a weird look u would think in that moment hed read her mind or sense her but watevr not the biggest issue with this show
@jacobjackson2787 At the beginning of the episode, Sol was punching tables and throwing hugs around... he is in an absolute spiral of emotions. He'd just watched his entire squad, including his young padawan, get butchered. Then gets his mind twisted by the stranger.... Sol probably could not sense a shit in his own pants at this moment in time.
@@cheeseknees9606 I guess I'll accept that even tho he still was visually suspicious immediately upon her arrival but didn't read her mind but whatever. The bigger problem I had with Sol this episode is he could've told the Jedi about the sith but didn't jus so he could go tell a story he could've told at any point over the last 2 decades.. that's absolutely stupid and only happened so Leslie can say the Jedi didn't know about sith still.
that jedi who keeps saying that what if sol did all this is annoying asf
He is SO out of place in the episode. He feels like someone's friend who they decided to bring in on the day without any prep, and put him in the costume and gave him lines to say.

There are a significant number of people who are jazzed about ALL of the episodes so far, not just the big lightsaber fight one.
Agree. These people just yappin without using their damn brains. Actually if you use your brain then everything makes sense.
The only thing I don't like about this is that the episodes are too short.

I think alot of people forget that Padame dies from a broken heart in ep.3.... people take Starwars far too seriously. It's a show about space wizards.

Your reaction to this episode really surprised me. This was the first episode I was actually engaged in and made me look forward to the next episode.
I think the biggest issue is the writers have 8 30-minute episodes, and a complicated plot. Mandalorian was 10 30-minute episodes and a straight forward plot. I, for one, am glad Disney let us have something more 'adult'. I wish they gave the people working on it time to tell their story.
Yea I think it would be ok to have 6 episodes if they combine them right and give them more time to work on dialogue and cgi for certain moments
This show should have been a minimum of 10 episodes.
Welcome back Michael!! Thank you Coy for spotting in last week, but damn we missed Mr. Tessler.
Cheers.

Vern getting sick in hyperspace is from the high republic novels. She started experiencing intense force visions during hyperspace. They must not have ever relented and she had to tell other people besides just her Master and her own Apprentice

Hearing what Qimer was saying about the dark side and losing attachments and then cutting to Sol experience all this I thought was brilliant. I also think you guys missed that Sol obviously knew it was Mae all along and so him saying he would turn himself in and tell the truth was him setting Mae up to see her reaction. He knew she was about to try and stab him which is why he made her fly the ship.

But also the way the show goes about doing that and exploring that idea, i couldnt care less about them
TOTAALLLLYYYY agree
Maybe we'll find out that she wasn't as Jedi inclined as she thought herself which makes it easier for her to join the dark, hell maybe she's even felt the draw of the dark side before and that's why she got booted and why she cut herself off from the force entirely at the start of the show.

Qimir and Osha remind me Ben and Rey during episode 9
I haven't really complained about the run time but what the hell was that? I thought you guys were kidding around and edited in some credits..
I have been looking forward for this
This episode was “Guilty as sin”-the Star Wars mash-up and I loved it 😂 the Qimir/Osha scenes are amazing.
"you think organizations to be inherently corrupt?"
"Given enough time, yes. To survive an organization must devote resources to maintain itself. Those resources accumulate until the original purpose, no matter how pure, is lost."
"You make the Seekers(Jedi) sound like a mindless beast."
"A mindless beast, no matter how mindless, will die and give way to a successor. An organization is eternal. There are always corrupt Men who hoard power for their own gain and there are always honourable men who hoard power to fight them."

You are absolutely correct, I think my brain did me the great service of erasing that from the Jedi archives hahah
I guess the reason is the actress probably isn’t good enough to play two distinct characters who are twins
The Twins play by same actress right? So, it's feel weird or difficult to understand the character. Trying to guess who is who. I thinks they should at least like real twins actors. Instead of someone to act like one.
Amandla was picked for the role before they had a script. This show was created around her and she’s failing miserably in her role
I've begun to suspect that Qimir/the Stranger may be the Acolyte of either Darth Tenebrous or Darth Plagueis, and he's looking for his own Acolyte to help him fully become Sith.
tenebrous did break the rule of two and had 2 apprentices so he could very well be one of those two.

I think Dave's work is guiding the direction, but they're not giving us the clear, mapped out plan like the MCU.

Great take on this Michael. Completely agree
