I was looking forward most to this episode, I think Hanelle Culpepper is the best director on this show so far and she’s directed 6 and 8. I think this show would’ve benefited from some more work on the script before they went to production, and I think it would’ve been better with a shorter episode count (but longer episodes!) Also, is it just me or is Qimir’s scar totally from Vernestra’s whip? She’s giving total coverup vibes in this whole show
From a casual Star Wars fan to another that is going down the rabbit hole of going deeper with the lore thanks to The Acolyte I really love where this show is going. Really intrigued where they are going with Osha, Mae, Sol and The Stranger. That ending was… dark.
I haven’t enjoyed this show for plenty of reasons BUT, I agree this episode was actually pretty solid. Qamir is definitely the best part of the show, his scenes are the only thing that’s keeping me around. There’s still things in the episode that were stupid but, overall prob the best one of the season.
Really been loving your reviews. If you ever decide to go back over any content you missed (i think you said you hadn't seen the clone wars series) i'd love to hear your thoughts!
This felt like a transitional episode that is leading to next week when I think we will find out what really happened on Brendok. I think we are about to learn that Master Sol is Qimir’s master.
I haven't been a fan of the show, but since the reveal of Qimir, the show has taken steps in the right direction (although it feels a little late.) I wish the menacing sith presence was scattered more throughout the series to elevate the stakes and make the story have weight. Loving these reviews Coy!
I’m starting to suspect that maybe Qimir/The Stranger isn’t the true lord of the Sith but rather an apprentice that failed to live up to the standards of the true master. Like he was a Jedi Youngling but somehow fell into the hands of the true Sith Lord. And he may actually be older than he looks because according to Palpatine his master Darth Plagueis he could influence the Force to prolong life, which would also explain why none of the Jedi recognized him.
Qimir knows that the Jedi are corrupt as they seem to bend the rules when it benefits them. Also it's possible that The Acolyte is setting up Qimir as the First Knight of Ren. Kylo Ren must have read about Qimir's history and his influence rubbed on him.
So glad this one really popped for you, dude. I was really hoping that as the show went, it would grow on you. Still some understandable criticisms, which is fair. I just hope it keeps the momentum for you. I'm so enraptured by the dichotomy between Sol and Qimir. I'm so fascinated with how they're both trying to get through to Osha and Mae, for better or worse, in their own VERY different ways with wildly different philosophies. And strong agree. I need Manny's trap routine, because the dude is ripped.
Coy, I thank you. Idk if you remember but I'd left a comment on one of your reviews about how disappointed i was about how the show didnt really explore the dark side, and generally ive been in agreement with you about how i feel about each episode (haven't been watching the episodes themselves but i have been catching reactions over at reel rejects) This review (which i admit i didnt watch in its entirety at first so apologies for hurting that watch time) is what got me to finally check out a full episode and im so so so glad we finally got to see what i wanted, where we ACTUALLY got an exploration of the dark side from someone that is a sith. I genuinely loved damn near every moment we got of Osha and the Sith. The rest of it i didnt even need, i could take a whole show of those two
I wish that this show was almost entirely from the point of view of the Sith, but it feels like while Lucasfilm wanted that, Disney was too scared that a show about the villains of Star Wars wouldn’t reach as much of an audience as a show that was mostly about the Jedi.
yes the helmet and cortosis mine ...its like qimir something he lost that he want that to be with him closer to him...its attachment to his sith master ...just like kylo ren with darth vader helmet...since its his grandfather...for qimir to the helmet...its like father to son relationship...
Coy, the way you describe your love of Star Wars is almost exactly the same, and it's wonderful to see a youtuber that appreciates just how good TLJ is. What did you think of Andor? I guess I can search for a video you've made ;)
I'm not sure I would say Oshas plot was rushed Sis has been trigger happy about doubt damage since she found out Mae was alive She has a lot of darkness Osha was also interested in being a jedi Sol was her only family for a while Osha also knows Qimir would have killed her if he wanted Part if her wants to know why he is the way he is Osha was always very curious as a child and that curiosity translating to wanting to know about Qimir and the dark side is very clear here
loving the reviews and i rly loved this ep too. i think the theory that qimir is the first knight of ren (kylo rens group from rise of skywalker) could be true with him saying he's not a sith but they might call him that is cause the knights of ren r dark side users who arent sith. also i'd love to see u do a reaction or a review on the old republic cinematic trailers they're amazing star wars story telling points that show the jedi and the sith in a way very different to anything else in live action or animation and i think you'd love the stories told in them
Are we getting Damon Wayne in the new DC universe? Sorry I know its not a Star Wars question, but I'm so hyped for the new DC universe.. Superfriends when I was a kid got me into the comic book World.....
You ever watch the Old Republic cinematic trailers? I think you'd enjoy them. You don't need to play the game I haven't either, but those are probably some of the best Star Wars content you'll ever see in your life and it's just from some trailers lol.
I also agree with everything you said. I have had problem with the show throughout due to its writing and dialogues. And were afraid this episode would take away the momentum from last week due to lack of action and more dialogue, but surprisingly this was my favorite episode too. Beside Maes character, i think everyone did very well to make me invested and interested! Ps. I really like your reactions, commentary and analysis. And since youre a casual star wars fan and dont know much, do you have any plans to delve deeper into Star Wars? I would personally love to see a reaction series where you watch all the Star Wars movies and shows CHRONOLOGICALLY! (And it would be perfect After the Acolyte, since its the earliest in the timeline) Most reactors starts from the OG trilogy and then jumps around the Star wars Timeline, but it could be really refreshing to get a fresh take chronologically to see how the galaxy slowly evolves throughout the Eras. Just a suggestion 😁 keep up the good work!
I loved the episode. First of all we finally got a light whip!! Do we think Vemestra is hiding something? I hope Osha doesn’t turn. When she put the mask on I thought there was going to be a jump scare or something but glad there wasn’t haha. She had so many opportunities to leave and she didn’t take it. Why?
I want a good written show about Qimir without Mae and Osha who are really boring. HIs story is much more interesting....❤ Qimir and Sol are the only reasons for me to watch the show. Greetings from Germany💕
That last episode and this one, actually feels like The Acolyte! Other episodes felt like they were still trying to remember the premise. But yeah, we needed to get to this place a little quicker. Six episodes in and I'm finally getting to know who this dude is. Hmm. I'll take it! I also don't find the twins jarring anymore because they seem to have purpose now. Things are finally coming together but I wish it wasn't so close to the end. Anyways, great review and damn that was quick!
What did you think of the lightwhip, Coy? First time we’ve seen one in live action. I’m a longtime fan of them, I’m using one in the SW novel I’m writing, so I was obviously very excited to see one finally, however brief. Curious how you felt about it, though?
Love the review videos ❤ I watch Cody,Chris, double toasted and angry Joe … and now I love coy because sence reel reactions channel the breakdown videos are amazing
I wish this exact story was directed and acted and written better. It had so much promise, and while i personally like it overall, there are major problems with its storytelling
Feels like the first 4 episodes should’ve been 2 full hour episodes, cleaned up a bit, but this is now interesting the last two episodes. Writing hasn’t be phenomenal but has improved as well, but it still felt a bit indulgent for a ~30 min episode even though the tone was really strong this.
I know this will sound stupid but I feel like something happened but also nothing happened at the same time lol I feel like instead of moving the story along it just nudged it. Apologies if this is stupid but just how I felt after watching the episode.
this episode really split opinion, I saw reviewers who either really hated it, or liked it a lot. I like this episode overall, but my only gripe is it is too short. I wish something more is revealed in this episode, like what happened on Brendok.
Wow... I must admit I love watching reviews/reactions from those I respect but thought like you that I would just be going through the motions on this one, thinking you may have written this one off... but there's an interesting conversation here! I also love Star Wars for the fantasy wars aspect, meaning I don't care for death and destruction in the real world, but enjoy exploring allegories to real life within the fantasy setting. Darth Vader, for example is one of my fav. villains of all time, but if you told me the same sob story for any real warlord I wouldn't give 2 turds... Palpatine is great as a mustache-twirling villain who managed to deceive the entire galaxy which I love as a fictional concept, but I do hate when we see examples of that in the wild. There are nuances we get to explore within fiction that I wouldn't give the time of day when it starts to bleed over into reality. Great breakdown!
This was one of the weaker eps to me, but still very strong overall. Qimir is such an interesting character, and Manny is absolutely BRINGING it. Glad this one hit better for you, Coy. Thanks for your honest (and non-toxic) thoughts, as always.
Hello, you lovely😊. First of all congratulations again on the engagement and hope that the stress levels are not too high. Planning everything because I know they can be.😊😊. Now to my question for you Coy. I have seen a lot of comments everywhere where people would’ve preferred this to be a movie instead of a episodic show. Now I will ask this of you, I feel that perhaps if they did this as a TV movie event on Disney, it may have possibly worked out better Continuity wise. When I say this, I mean they have a TV setting everything up let’s say the next following month they have either the next movie be the resolution or better still a three part event one movie every month that way one it’s not a movie every week, which I think would be a lot in a short period of time for people to unpack especially you guys or they could’ve easily made three movies and then released them a week apart I don’t know which would’ve been better but I feel as a movie length event for TV. It probably would’ve worked out better. I would like to know what you think. Please forgive any grammar errors. I have not double checked.😊😊😊
I would agree that Mae with that performance was very wooden in this episode, but portraying Osha was a lot better. That comedy didn’t work at all with Mae where the spray on the face instantly disappeared.
@@CoyJandreau You see it land on her face and then it’s just gone! It looked like oil where you would expect her to wash it off. She was too stoic as Mae and even in character would have played the part more with pretending to be Osha.
There were parts of this story that was very very boring, like the Mae running around the ship or Vhernestra doing detective work could be cut down. But Qimir and Sol's scenes are easily stand outs, though the implied tension between Qimir and Osha is not a tension I feel is weird and unexplained
and **SPOILER** . . . . . . Did you notice that Vernestra's lightsaber looks like it could have left the whip-like scars on Qimir's back? I think Sol was his master and it will come out that Qimir had a falling out as a yound padawan, went to live with the witches and was responsible for slaughtering the witches and jedi. And I would imagine he also rescues Mae and tries to train her as his pupil. Or something.
Coy I got another one for you. Being that I am not a Star Wars extremist I like to know your opinion as to possibly why George Lucas, after the third Star Wars original movie did not create a separate story from the original characters instead of continuing the saying saga. I know what the mythology was given to all of us was that it was supposed to be a nine chapter saga, but Lucas never gave me the impression that he was a franchise guy. I really thought he may have just wanted to do a separate story from a main Skywalker continuity because to be honest and this is only my opinion it kind of shot Star Wars in the foot as a open universe film franchise because now even till today, everyone is still very obsessed with the core Skywalker storyline and to be honest I really didn’t get into the other movies when they came out because I was really not that interested but then again like I said I’m not a Star Wars deep, cut guy.
Have you seen all the other Star Wars shows Coy? Like a Clone Wars series would be cool if you haven't seen it already. Just have to make sure you watch it in chronological order.
really good episode. It feels diffrent from the rest of them. The feel is more professional in feel and tone. Better writting and direction? Better acting? Not sure but big improvement.
I’ve been enjoying the series but after this episode I think the first three should have been combined to make episode 1, episode 4 and 5 should have been combined and then this should have been episode 3 and focused more on the teachings and the sith, who is the most interesting character I think.
This show is a pretty big mess, I’ve enjoyed the last two episodes for sure, but the writing is still laughable. I’m still hoping it keeps this upward trajectory and ends well. Love your reviews as always bro
I really love this show. Star wars is now what Harry potter and pirates of the Caribbean used to be for me as a kid/teen. Great mind bending fantasy visuals, action, amazing music, awesome world building, interesting and emotional stories and love for craft behind the scenes. I will watch anything. Ps: I also really enjoy the last jedi. But I recognize the failure that episode 9 was and ultimately the letdown of the potential of the trilogy that introduced to star wars 😮💨 Where's more andor 👀👀👀
I honestly think this was the best episode. I'm sure a lot of people will say 5 but the fights were flashy... but the dialogue, motivations, people seemed to just be leaving fights mid fight and showing up somewhere else on the planet, the perfect sabe hair cut lol... there was a lot of nonsense in that episode. This one was much more subdued and the conversations in 2/3 of the plots were good. The only one that didn't work for me was the not council-council Jedi people (with the green chick). Her performance has felt weird the whole time to me and the dialogue just wasn't great. And I agree Osha really worked in this episode but Mae felt weird once again I think cause we have no idea what she wants at this point... it's hard to judge how a character is doing when they betray what they said an episode or even a scene ago... but Sol carried that part for me. And def Smilo-Ren carrying hard right now cause all the dialogue w/ him was good.
Glad u liked it, but the only thing good was quimir's performance. The twins thing is not working because u don't care about them and the story doesn't care about them. U have to turn off ur brain to just watch with a glaze over ur eyes. Sol's not knowing thats mae after having to walk back to ship and still doesn't know. But it goes farther then that after he does capture mae , he doesn't ask about osha other then to say i have to save osha!!? How does he know that? He was knocked out and then traveled all the way back to ship with her evil twin wearing osha's clothes doesn't realize this isn't the girl he trained😂
You can remove the sisters from this show and nothing would be different. To me, at this point, they have no real driving force to the overall storyline.
Sometimes power needs to be checked these Jedi are out here acting with no consequences. I really love this show. *Also did you hear the new Gambino? 🔥 new direction I'm here for it.
For me I'm not going to say I'm a huge star wars fan, nor do I say I know the lore super well. What I take from the series as a whole and I could be reaching here is there is more than one way to view the force. Star wars fans have only ever heard the teachings of the Jedi and what the force is, the problem is its repeating the down fall of the Jedi by becoming a fandom that's become arrogant , dogmatic, and lazy. The same reasons that the Jedi lost is the fandom complaining and believing that they are right blinded by what they perceive to be right. This episode as an apex takes some of what was laid forth in episode 3 that it's a thread that once pulled binds you and the force doesn't set in stone your future. There is a talk about free will and destiny here but not smart enough for that , overall I enjoy the show and agree that the M.V.P. is Manny Jacinto and he needs to be in more stuff .
@@CoyJandreau Thanks happened upon your review and enjoyed your honesty . The show is far from perfect and I'm tired of the review discourse of everything is bad heres why . 3.better dialogue
4. Writing the show like a proper TV series not just a extended movie ( this is the biggest problem with Disney + shows in general )
I was looking forward most to this episode, I think Hanelle Culpepper is the best director on this show so far and she’s directed 6 and 8.
I think this show would’ve benefited from some more work on the script before they went to production, and I think it would’ve been better with a shorter episode count (but longer episodes!)
Also, is it just me or is Qimir’s scar totally from Vernestra’s whip? She’s giving total coverup vibes in this whole show
From a casual Star Wars fan to another that is going down the rabbit hole of going deeper with the lore thanks to The Acolyte I really love where this show is going. Really intrigued where they are going with Osha, Mae, Sol and The Stranger. That ending was… dark.
You liked this more than I did, but i would also say this was my first fresh rating of the season. As always, well done
Thanks man!
This is the best episode yet. Its finishing strong. Shame it started poorly.
Agreed on both counts!
Hard to find a no hate review for this show ♥️
I haven’t enjoyed this show for plenty of reasons BUT, I agree this episode was actually pretty solid.
Thanks so much man! If I ever get the chance will do! Thanks for watching!
It would be awesome in the end that Sol and Qimir join forces.
Curious how things shake out
This felt like a transitional episode that is leading to next week when I think we will find out what really happened on Brendok. I think we are about to learn that Master Sol is Qimir’s master.
When osha woke up free to move around but Mai was chained to the bed? The plot is slowly unraveling itself and I’m sooo intrigued
Michael at Reel Rejects also suggested the possibility that he could have been in some sort of stasis. I like both of those theories.
Nah, he's a Sith.
I'm just here to hear your opinions on the show, and congrats to Manny Jacinto for landing the role in Freaky Friday 2.
Haha thanks man! And cheaaa more Manny in stuff!
Yesss all of the above! I finally care BECAUSE of that dichotomy
And because of the Traps game
@CoyJandreau I really hope the potential rematch between Sol and Qimir is dialogue heavy, because they both have A LOT to say.
Coy, I thank you. Idk if you remember but I'd left a comment on one of your reviews about how disappointed i was about how the show didnt really explore the dark side, and generally ive been in agreement with you about how i feel about each episode (haven't been watching the episodes themselves but i have been catching reactions over at reel rejects)
This review (which i admit i didnt watch in its entirety at first so apologies for hurting that watch time) is what got me to finally check out a full episode and im so so so glad we finally got to see what i wanted, where we ACTUALLY got an exploration of the dark side from someone that is a sith. I genuinely loved damn near every moment we got of Osha and the Sith. The rest of it i didnt even need, i could take a whole show of those two
It reminded me of episode eight
Did you intentionally make that cut to emphasize the transition point, because if you did well done.
Working on my editing :) thanks!
I wish that this show was almost entirely from the point of view of the Sith, but it feels like while Lucasfilm wanted that, Disney was too scared that a show about the villains of Star Wars wouldn’t reach as much of an audience as a show that was mostly about the Jedi.
Would have LOVED that
Gotta see how the season ends to see if that would even work. Cause the whole season revolves around Brendock/Twins/Lies
Had no idea you had your own TH-cam page Corey, subscribing now!
Thanks man! Welcome! Only been reaaaalllly using it for 3 months or so, no time like the present!
Excellent discussion.
yes the helmet and cortosis mine ...its like qimir something he lost that he want that to be with him closer to him...its attachment to his sith master ...just like kylo ren with darth vader helmet...since its his grandfather...for qimir to the helmet...its like father to son relationship...
Coy, the way you describe your love of Star Wars is almost exactly the same, and it's wonderful to see a youtuber that appreciates just how good TLJ is.
What did you think of Andor? I guess I can search for a video you've made ;)
I just finished your video and now I see you loved Andor.
I still hope he is an early Ren, but I don't know if that's possible.
This show, like Kenobi, is going to benefit from a more concise edit.
Really excited for a fan edit of this.
I await the topher grace cut!
I felt like in this episode OSHA’s plot was super rushed and Mae’s plot was dragged way out.
I'm not sure I would say Oshas plot was rushed
Sis has been trigger happy about doubt damage since she found out Mae was alive
She has a lot of darkness
Osha was also interested in being a jedi Sol was her only family for a while
Osha also knows Qimir would have killed her if he wanted
Part if her wants to know why he is the way he is
Osha was always very curious as a child and that curiosity translating to wanting to know about Qimir and the dark side is very clear here
loving the reviews and i rly loved this ep too. i think the theory that qimir is the first knight of ren (kylo rens group from rise of skywalker) could be true with him saying he's not a sith but they might call him that is cause the knights of ren r dark side users who arent sith. also i'd love to see u do a reaction or a review on the old republic cinematic trailers they're amazing star wars story telling points that show the jedi and the sith in a way very different to anything else in live action or animation and i think you'd love the stories told in them
Are we getting Damon Wayne in the new DC universe?
Agreed! The sisters are supposed to be the heart of the story, but instead they're the weakest part.
Ooo don't say they the people will come for u
Yes!
Love the review videos ❤ I watch Cody,Chris, double toasted and angry Joe … and now I love coy because sence reel reactions channel the breakdown videos are amazing
Thanks man! Glad you like em!
I wish this exact story was directed and acted and written better. It had so much promise, and while i personally like it overall, there are major problems with its storytelling
Loved Manny again in this episode. I thought this was a weaker performance from Lee Jung-Jae
Totally agree!
I wish something more is revealed in this episode, like what happened on Brendok.
the power of one
the power of two
the power of MAN-NNNYYYYYY..... JACINTO!!!!
I can hear this comment
Great to hear your perspective on Star Wars Coy, gunna be a great month.
Thanks so much! Tis!
This was one of the weaker eps to me, but still very strong overall. Qimir is such an interesting character, and Manny is absolutely BRINGING it. Glad this one hit better for you, Coy. Thanks for your honest (and non-toxic) thoughts, as always.
So Michael is back with Greg reacting to this episode?
Dunno? Maybe?
Drove me so specifically crazy haha
@@CoyJandreau You see it land on her face and then it’s just gone! It looked like oil where you would expect her to wash it off. She was too stoic as Mae and even in character would have played the part more with pretending to be Osha.
There were parts of this story that was very very boring, like the Mae running around the ship or Vhernestra doing detective work could be cut down. But Qimir and Sol's scenes are easily stand outs, though the implied tension between Qimir and Osha is not a tension I feel is weird and unexplained
and **SPOILER**

Did you notice that Vernestra's lightsaber looks like it could have left the whip-like scars on Qimir's back? I think Sol was his master and it will come out that Qimir had a falling out as a yound padawan, went to live with the witches and was responsible for slaughtering the witches and jedi. And I would imagine he also rescues Mae and tries to train her as his pupil.
Or something.
For suuuuure think she’s involved
@@CoyJandreau I honestly think this series will get better with age and multiple re-watches, like TLJ
I really thought he may have just wanted to do a separate story from a main Skywalker continuity because to be honest and this is only my opinion it kind of shot Star Wars in the foot as a open universe film franchise because now even till today, everyone is still very obsessed with the core Skywalker storyline and to be honest I really didn’t get into the other movies when they came out because I was really not that interested but then again like I said I’m not a Star Wars deep, cut guy.
when osha touch the helmet...she sense lot of pain and suffering from it from previous owner that pass onto qimir
100% agreed
It should've just been a Qimir show tbh.
Woulda loved that
This show is a pretty big mess, I’ve enjoyed the last two episodes for sure, but the writing is still laughable. I’m still hoping it keeps this upward trajectory and ends well. Love your reviews as always bro
I’m with ya! Agreed! And thanks man!
I-1000% agree with everything that was said
I really love this show.
But I recognize the failure that episode 9 was and ultimately the letdown of the potential of the trilogy that introduced to star wars 😮💨
Where's more andor 👀👀👀
The workout side bar😁
TRAPEZIUS MAGNIFICENCE
Qimir seems stale to me but I’ve been seeing people love him vs not loving Kylo so that something Ive considered since im a kylo stan
So what were her thoughts when she saw the guy naked...
Yes, I loved the strangers "philosophy." He had such an interesting "philosophy." I especially loved the part where he "philosophically" swam naked 👀
Here for the philosophy *sees the philosophy*
Just realized I didn't have notifs on for your account 😢
Welcome to the party! Appreciate it
This was the ep I realized I loved this show.
This was where I realized I liked the show. But same same concept. Hope it holds up for the last 2!
Nice vid coy thanks have a nice day
Thanks man! You as well!
Rwoh was super suspect tonight.
This show is probably the worst of Star Wars IP. I'm so happy that the majority of fans can see what is really going here
Haven’t liked most of it either, but liked this ep!
Yall are being way too nice 😂
More Manny is ALWAYS the right decision it would seem (and I like your take on the show and the force)
@@CoyJandreau Thanks happened upon your review and enjoyed your honesty . The show is far from perfect and I'm tired of the review discourse of everything is bad heres why . I want to enjoy something but also get real critiques things I didn't see or may not have caught as I'm not an expert in media literacy.
Qimir heard “seduced by the dark side” and took it seriously
took it SO seriously.
It sucks how little ive cared on these characters i couldnt get into this episodes and apparently its a lot peoples favorites :/
Oh one other thing and this one is definitely coming out of left field. Because it’s Disney, what do you think of the possibility of the acolyte or any other Disney shows from this point forward being musicals? Disney does pretty well when they have musicals on channel.😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was bored, however, the Dark Sider Continues to be interesting
Qimir is definitely saving this show for me
