The writing of the 1st episode is kinda meh. The writers could have kept the mystery of who is the killer much longer, but gave it up the moment Osha started helping the violent criminal. After that it became obvious a shapeshifter or twin or some sort of illusion is the explanation. On the other hand killing the most famous actor of the show right at the start is a brilliant decision. And of course the filmmakers finally moved away from the original trilogy and Lucas characters. Something that should have been done years ago. That alone is the show main attractive feature from my pov.

Like how Greg is talking about the repetitive dialogue, despite the fact they didn’t catch that they already mentioned that the sister was presumed dead the first two times they mentioned it
@@jonathanpowell7256 I think I just get put off whenever I hear a modern British accent in Star Wars. It takes me out of it a bit. And for some reason the SW shows have been including people with those accents regularly (like the Vespa gang in Boba Fett). I guess I prefer the more Shakespearean accents of Tarkin and Mon Mothma.
My guess is that the 4 Jedi on that planet became aware of identical twins who were Force Sensitive and wondered what would happen if one were trained as a Jedi and one was not, and set up the fire and told each twin that the other one had started the fire but had perished. Some kind of wild, wacky, Jedi version of My Fair Lady.
Captain Kirk, showing Jean-Luc Picard, while referring to Obi-Wan was doubly delicious! And yes, I’m very excited by the Acolyte so far. It has definitely pulled me in.
I see a lot of mirroring of The Phantom Menace between Master Sol-Yord in The Acolyte. I also enjoy that Star Trek parallel between Osha and Jecki as they are kind of the Kirk and Spock of the Jedi universe. A sinister force is playing a dangerous game by pulling some serious strings.
If the fire has fuel then it can burn in space. The most common fuel tends to be oxygen in our atmosphere that allows it to burn but there are other substances that allow a fire to occur without oxygen being present
Honestly i had the same thought when i saw it happening. I didn’t think the rest of the world would make such a big deal about it. My first thought was “Oh, yeah its SW. must be something crazy to cause a fire in space”.
@@watchmesquatch no I just kept my expectations low, and went in pumped for a new Star Wars project. Staying open minded 🤷♂️ I usually don’t look at the reviews and comments people say about a series before I watch
I really enjoyed the first two episodes. For me I always needed to watch new Star Wars shows twice. It's usually because I have thoughts on what I would LIKE to see happen, and then I need to marry that with what DID happen. Here, probably because we're in a different era, no connection to legacy characters I really had no expectation of what I wanted to see happen. The pacing was good. Some shows feel like they're rushing through episodes or they break at a bad spot. Granted, it always leaves me wanting to see the next episode, but I liked how each episode ended. For example, I thought episodes 3 & 4 of Ahsoka could have been done in one episode.
Honestly not terrible(so far), my only complaint would be that Carrie Ann Moss died from a knife, but Reva and Sabine somehow survived after being stabbed by a lightsaber
Nice catch on the Osha/ocean thing...I didn't notice that for some reason but that explains the line that Sol gives about the ocean and fire both being great powers (when he's teaching class). I don't know if that contradicts or confirms my thoughts that Mae is going to be dead and Osha is going to become the next Sith apprentice. The trailers did say that, "someone is killing jedi," and not, "someone is getting their ass kicked by Triniry," so I assumed most of Moss' scenes would be flashbacks to whatever the conspiracy was.
Loved these first two episodes, set a great tone moving forward. I really hope this gets the appreciation it deserves because the sets feel lived in, the dialogue feels authentic and the pacing is great. AND it "feels" like Star Wars. Really hope we see a lot more of Carrie though, she felt so natural as a Jedi.
Don’t listen to any of those people. They just need to learn to respect other people’s opinions. You can enjoy The Acolyte if you want to. As long as you enjoy content that is Star Wars content, you are a Star Wars fan regardless of what those gatekeeping morons say.
@@lukespillman1313 I agree. And there's rumors online that episode 3 completely destroys star wars. It's most likely overblown and they're overreacting as they usually do.
I think my favorite part of this show so far is the depiction of Jedi. Carrie's fighting scene made me think of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and it's such a joy to see Jedi more in that "lightsaber is the last resort" sort of mentality. But that also made me think that her character would have been a more interesting lead for an investigator discovering these acolytes. It will be interesting to see where it goes.
Happy birthday to me. Star Wars decided to start this series as a gift to me 😂. I like this series, and have faith they will explain what they need to as to why the Jedi don’t know about this in the prequel series.
Either it will be answered or not….that’s Disney Star Wars for ya. Also the writing for setting this g up is pretty obvious, too obvious but we will see
27:36 the Jedi didn't know the sith were back, at this point all they know is that some person is attempting to kill a few of them, they don't know that it's a sith in particular it could just be an disgruntled ex-employee or a crime syndicate it could literally be anyone.

I find it silly how she keeps saying "Attack me wiyh all your strength" and basically gets ignores or dismissed.
The line reminds me of when Beatrix says it to O-Ren in Kill Bill.
Like how Greg is talking about the repetitive dialogue, despite the fact they didn’t catch that they already mentioned that the sister was presumed dead the first two times they mentioned it
I thought they were surprised about Mae not knowing Osha was alive. Something which was new information for us.
23:00 HOLY SHIT, IT *IS* JASON FROM THE GOOD PLACE! Good catch
Loving it so far!
I watched the 2 episodes too and i am gladly surprised what disney has finally done, can't wait for the next episodes
Quote of the episode:
That was very physical, Greg.
hey greg has home boy always been this funny? dude is great
That opening though... 🥲
Did you notice that Dafne Keene (X23) played Jecki?
Dafne Keen is always a good decision. 😊
@@ArcaJ She's great, but so far she's a bit wooden and weak acting-wise. I still like her though
@@alexp601I thought she was good.
She was also in His Dark Instruments and was really good i that. I thought her serious demeanor was appropriate for her station. 🤷🏻♀️
Killing off the stunt casting of Moss is certainly a bold choice
I was thinking that some of the elementary dialogue stuff was making sure we know which characters know which things in a mystery.
I really dug these first two episodes! Setting up an interesting plot with some cool characters. I will be eagerly anticipating future episodes.
I'm just wondering how old is Yoda around this time
Wasn't Billy Jack a real fighter
Thank you for having your reaction out so quickly
So far so good, I really like this show.
I’m enjoying it also funny where Osha was standing on that cliff was really reminiscent of The Fugitive 😂 a nice Harrison Ford reference
Also an Ahsoka reference.
Definitely a Fugitive reference
Captain Kirk, showing Jean-Luc Picard, while referring to Obi-Wan was doubly delicious!
And yes, I’m very excited by the Acolyte so far. It has definitely pulled me in.
I see a lot of mirroring of The Phantom Menace between Master Sol-Yord in The Acolyte. I also enjoy that Star Trek parallel between Osha and Jecki as they are kind of the Kirk and Spock of the Jedi universe. A sinister force is playing a dangerous game by pulling some serious strings.

"I think this is the show that Star Wars fans have been waiting for."
😏😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
If the fire has fuel then it can burn in space. The most common fuel tends to be oxygen in our atmosphere that allows it to burn but there are other substances that allow a fire to occur without oxygen being present
Honestly i had the same thought when i saw it happening. I didn’t think the rest of the world would make such a big deal about it. My first thought was “Oh, yeah its SW. must be something crazy to cause a fire in space”.
Over/under Michael making an OSHA joke of pun every episode 😁
These First two episodes are pretty solid! Loving the series so far
Y’all need better standard bruh
@@ElPresidenteMargzit was much better than the book of boba fett and the Obi-wan show tbh.
@@ElPresidenteMargzit was still a fine start.
Lol. You probably enjoy watching paint dry.
Gotta do a bit too much suspension of disbelief with this one. Maybe it’s meant for a younger audience 🤷♂️
The way Lee Jung-Jae delvers his lines you would think he was Keanu Reeves lol I cant unhear it
I saw the episodes, it was nice....hope they can stay this good
"No way, he's having a great time" lol, that line killed me.
Honestly not terrible(so far), my only complaint would be that Carrie Ann Moss died from a knife, but Reva and Sabine somehow survived after being stabbed by a lightsaber
To be a little fair, the knife was to the heart not in the side
Indara was stabbed in the heart, and the others were stabbed in fleshy non-fatal areas. Hope this helps, but we all know it won’t. 🙄🤡
@@jasonmarbach you clearly don’t understand what lightsabers are or what they do to flesh
@@michaelrodger the heat alone from a lightsaber would literally melt the internal organs of whoever it goes through
@@eyesacthehoodratYeah exactly, qui gon literally melting the blast door on the trade federation ship in Ep1 is a prime example
From what I remember high republic jedi have wayy different kinds of lightsaber colours compared to the standard blue and green
Not bad first two eps not bad at all I do hope the pace picks up.
Love that we finally get a Sith Ninja! And that she fights with kunai.
I've heard of you enjoy this show you're supposedly a shill for Disney. I frankly don't care at this point.
Good.

I’m loving this show so far
I think my favorite part of this show so far is the depiction of Jedi. Carrie's fighting scene made me think of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and it's such a joy to see Jedi more in that "lightsaber is the last resort" sort of mentality. But that also made me think that her character would have been a more interesting lead for an investigator discovering these acolytes. It will be interesting to see where it goes.
This to me was a great start. I was impartial coming into this.
But this was great mystery story. Im in for the ride..
I am suprised by how much I actually liked the show ....
You can already see to rot setting into the Jedi Order. Instead of finding Mae and uncovering the truth, they would rather protect their power.
I liked it. Still a bit to go but it isn't as bad as everyone is saying
Happy birthday to me. Star Wars decided to start this series as a gift to me 😂.
I like this series, and have faith they will explain what they need to as to why the Jedi don’t know about this in the prequel series.
Hey you! Happy Birthday! 🎉🎉 from Michael and the Rejects!
@@michaeltessler Thanks!
Happy birthday.. sorry they presented with such a low passion gift
Either it will be answered or not….that’s Disney Star Wars for ya. Also the writing for setting this g up is pretty obvious, too obvious but we will see
@illuminaticomics2253 What? It has not been advertised as that🤣. Also, work your punctuation.
27:36 the Jedi didn't know the sith were back, at this point all they know is that some person is attempting to kill a few of them, they don't know that it's a sith in particular it could just be an disgruntled ex-employee or a crime syndicate it could literally be anyone.
Jedi Wookie has 'get outta ma swamp' vibes
Calling it now. The guy Mae went to for the poison is the masked sith.
A very solid premiere!
🤩😤🤩🗣 I watched BOTH of the Episodes , and they were EXCELLENT ‼️ Ignore All the Negativity on this series 💯
