Could you tell me how you wire the car link? Im trying to figure out what would be the best way to route the cable from the battery. I have gx460 which is very similar to your 4runner. Thx
You connected your Yeti 1000 directly to your alternator... could I charge my Yeti 3000 from an alternator that is attached to a bike and not a car? I COMPLETELY understand that this is not super efficient and that I will only produce a few hundred watts per hour (it's not hard to maintain about 200 watts for an hour), I am more interested in charging my Yeti 3000 as a way to inspire me to burn more calories on my bike than I am in actually charging the Yeti in any significant way. If I know that my watts on the bike were being saved in any way, it would inspire me to produce more watts and therefore ride the bike more. So again my question: do you think I could attach the Yeti Link to an alternator that is powered by a bike and still charge a Yeti 3000? Thanks!!
Brother.... have you done any vids showing on charging the the powerbank via inverters, like 1000w etc ...would be nice to see if it takes dc to ac inverters to simply fast charge ✌👍
Great video! I have hooked up my solar panels, and plugged into the Anderson connector. The light is blue but I am showing 0 watts coming in. The battery is at 100%. Should it be showing an input or does the battery need to be lower to receive a charge?
Excellent video. I too have a 4runner, a 2017. What path did you use to route the link cable from battery to the back? Where did you enter the inside from the engine compartment, or? I bought my yeti link pre 2019, so looks like I need the newer cable set as well.
Thanks. Facing the car, there is a covered firewall entry, had to make it a bit bigger with a gradual drill bit, used a plastic rubber cover from Amazon, passed the cable through it, by the fuse box, under plastic trims to the back. It wasn’t easy because the cable is too thick. Yes, you need new cables, connections locks and a fuse. They do have an updated cable due to the recall that was issued. Good luck!
@@ToolsReview one final question, where did you pop out from the trim into the car & did you cut a whole at the exit point? All I can see from the video is the cable coming from somewhere behind the driver side back seat? Tx again!
Sorry for the unclear question. I get the part about going from the engine area, thru the firewall into the interior behind the steering wheel area, but am asking more about the route while inside the vehicle from the firewall to the back. I understood you to say you routed it thru the trim which I can understand, like maybe under side trims by the bottom of the driver side doors but was wondering more about how you routed around/up the back seat to have the cable exposed to the back.
Got it. Yes, under the floor trim, passing under b pillar, continued under the floor trim until I reached the interior rear funder cover. I exposed the other end of the cable at that point where the back of the rear seat starts from,. It is a decent distance so I was left with about a foot or a foot and half. Hope this makes sense.
I just finished install of yeti link in my 2017 4runner. Thanks again for your video as it helped me a lot. When you turn the car off what do your link module LEDs do? For me, all 4 stay lit for a few minutes, then it shifts to just the bottom 3 staying lit. I left it that way for over an hr, wondering if they all turn off at some point or do they stay on "forever"? But gave up waiting & just unplugged it. Also when I disconnect the back Yeti Link cable, after the engine has been off for a while, I get flashing red for approx 1-2 mins bef they go blank. Is it the same for you?
You should check out the instructions on GoalZero site. It doesn’t seems right. Usually after turning off the car all lights stay green for a few minutes then they go off.
I have a 4runner myself. Can I USE the 12v DC output from the Goal Zero Battery Pack to power my Dometic Fridge while it is being CHARGED from the 4runner 12v power source? I am thinking this would make sense because as I am driving 3+ hours on the road this would help keep the Goal Zero Battery Pack charged and topped off. Or would it make sense to plug my dometic fridge directly to the 12v AC power source on the 4runner?
Charging your Yeti from a 12v source is possible but it will not be a 1:1. The power you will take out to run your fridge will be more than the charge you will put in. I never tried the 12v charge because it is pretty slow. Hope this makes sense.
@@ToolsReview Wow thanks for the quick reply! I think the best route for me is to only use my Goal Zero Battery pack when i get to my campsite and run my fridge through the 4runner when i am still on the road. Thank you for this content and quick reply!
Can you PLEASE tell me which solar charger is best for my Goal Zero Yeti 3000 and that hopefully doesn't cost that much? Because Yeti is telling me that it costs 500 dollars for 1 solar panel but that I will need 6 of them! So can you help me out here please🙏....I also have an electric small car so charging from the ultinator is not an option. Please help me with this!! Thanks!!✝️👍👍
Goal Zero has mad it a little difficult to add Solar Panels from other manufacturers. I purchased some inexpensive panels without realizing they would exceed my GZ Yeti1000Li max voltage input of 19v, so I had to return the panels.
The connection is to the battery. Since I did this video, they had safety a recall on this setup and have replaced these parts with a new set of cables, connection locks and added a fuse.
Best explanation and proven results of the charging system! Awesome job awesome 👏
Can you give any tips on the yeti not taking a charge at all? I don't know if it just ran down to low or how to resolve this.. thanks
Can both the fast charger and delivered wall charger be used at the same time?
Very good informative I have a Yeti 1000 I want to connect 4 100 AH 100 lithium batteries to the Yeti for more storage capacity
Very helpful! Thank you

My battery is dead from no use or charge for 2 years. I have the 1000 lithium. Any suggestions on steps to revive?

I have 1 400watt solarpanel can i attach this to the yeti?

I own a GZ 1500X and the Yeti fast charge 25 AMP power supply so compatible.

Didn’t cut a new hole. It is risky to do so since many components are right behind that area.

The connection is to the battery. Since I did this video, they had safety a recall on this setup and have replaced these parts with a new set of cables, connection locks and added a fuse.
