- Player-to-Player Trading will be removed from Rocket League on December 5 at 4 p.m. PST. This is a major blow to the casual side of the community and is a final straw for me playing this game.

I’ve never been a huge trader, but this is still insane. The fact that they’re willing to remove something that has been such a huge part of the game really makes you wonder what else they’re willing to do (or not to) in the future

The developers seem to be primarily focused on maximizing profits from the game. As an example, they used to have the goal camera follow the car that scored after a goal was made, allowing players to dance a little and celebrate with their cars. Unfortunately, they changed this feature to center on the goal itself, likely to promote the sale of goal animations. Many players find it more enjoyable and entertaining to see what a player does after scoring rather than witnessing repetitive goal animations. There's a straightforward solution: the developers could offer a purchasable goal animation that restores the camera's focus on the scoring player instead of solely focusing on the goal. Unfortunately, the developers have lost touch with the player base for quite some time, and it's highly likely that they don't even play their own game anymore.
They could also add goal animations that play on the scoring player's car. For example, fireworks shooting out of their car as they fly around post-goal.
I loved finding new ways to move my car in that little time and they just took it. Really it’s the little things that slowly make you stop playing
The developers can do a lot of things but the business suits say no 😂 so yes, keep blaming the devs
@@billionsplit7820 exactly! I remember a few times when I successfully stood my car up and turned the wheels to the side with perfect timing to emulate dabbing, back when dabbing was a popular meme. Or even moving my car in a 'dumb' way to over exaggerate how bad of a player I am, in order to rub it in to the other team that even I'm scoring on them. All these moments added some character to the game.

Damn man, crazy to think that 2016 (when I started playing) was 7 years ago, almost 8. You were one of the first rl TH-camrs i watched and just like you ive kinda drifted away from it in recent times. Me and my buddies spent more time trading than playing some times and to me it’s insane that the trading aspect is being taken out of the game. To have an easy way to access a whole community marketplace at 14/15 years old not only taught me how to realize the value of something and be able to trade it, but how to connect with random strangers, who some turned out to be great friends. To build my inventory from realistically nothing to something (see what I did there) teaches you many values in my belief, and hell even being scammed once or twice does too. It sucks to say but this game is truly dying now, thanks to money hungry people who have probably never played it. Thanks for everything Mr. Sandman, and thanks for bringing me my dream❤😂
Yeah I saw this and actually got teary-eyed. Blind trading and pink slips carried the latter half of my childhood. It will never be the same without them, but Jon, thank you so much for giving all of us some of the best rocket league content out there.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's happened enough in the past for that to seem like a viable possibility here. It all feels like it falls on deaf ears over and over again. Fingers crossed though.
People have panic sold a bunch of items already. The repercussions are now very strong too if they reverse this decision. They have royally screwed themselves.
We would need more or less the entire community with pros to boycott. And even then it's epic games...

I feel that so hard. I legitimately hate braindead megacorporations that destroy games and communities for no reason other than "this will make us more money". Earlier this year I lost my favorite game (Echo Arena) to Facebook and now I lose this. It doesn't even feel like a part of Rocket League is gone. To me it just feels like Rocket league was 2 games and now one of them is completely gone because corporate greed and blindness.

@shannon5604 This is a valid point as this was foreshadowed with introduction to the credit system. It was to eliminate people getting so many items because they bought cheaply from people who had abundance. Credit introduction crashed the trading market briefly but it never bounced back from the original value of items. Thus, they slowly progressed in order to drain players wallets. They saw potential for money making but they getting greedy tbh.

as someone who used to love trading back when it wasnt free to play, my nostalgia is hitting me hard. watching you and other channels' crate openings and trading from nothing to something series were so entertaining, and the fact that every sign pointed to this community slowly dwindling after epic bought it doesn't make it any easier to hear the news. im glad i was a part of that amazing community, and i hope you all are too

The fact that THE XBOX ACHIEVEMENT TO TRADE is still there is insane.
I wasn’t super invested into trading specifically, but one of my favorite things was having an item my partner in life wanted, and being able to toss it his way and seeing how excited and happy he was. Growing up poor always made that sort of thing impossible for me to do irl, but being able to do so even with just a thing of boost or a pair of wheels was nice and I’m sad that this is being taken away.

Im a gamedev for fun. It will be pretty hard to copy the physics exactly. Flip resets, pinches and much more wont feel the same. You could copy the graphics and other things easily. But it will probably not feel the same. And after putting a lot of hours into it you probably dont want it to feel weird and wrong and different

Ive quit the game a while ago now, but still have watched you every now and then showing that you still have love for this game. At the peak of RL it was so nice to see you and phantom/athena doing these collabs trading items back & forth. Truly sucks to see how greed and absolutely ruin a game its community, such a staple niche to what gives the core a huge boost. "I may not be good but atleast my car looks good" something people have remembered forever. Love you Jon, appreciate the huge gift of laughter and joy watching you play this game has given me

This isn't like other updates...this is one they *knew* there'd be tons of backlash on, and they were still prepared to deal with it. So I'm pessimistic about the possibility of them changing their minds sadly.

I miss the times when this game was ran by people who actually cared about the players and not just business people motivated by greed and money. To take away such a big feature is actually a slap in the face, so stupid. I’ve noticed that the rocket passes and items have been looking more and more generic and it’s noticeable that the amount of effort has decreased it’s just going downhill.

its okay jon, you're allowed to get passionate. This is the reason you blew up and became who you are today and became such an impactful person in multiple communities. Your crate openings first was taken away, now your trading games are taken away.
This is truly sad. My favorite thing to do 2-3 years ago, was watching you open crates, and play rocket league with friends. I liked that you actually talked to us like friends instead of other streamers. I really hope you don’t stop playing, but i won’t stop watching you if you do
Same I started playing rocket league in 2017 with friends and I remember that we would trade and just share cars and stuff because game was not that old and there wasn’t as many cosmetics, hell we even got scammed too. Started playing a month ago with the same friends to find out this. Pretty lame what rocket league has become.

I agree 100%. I loved Rocket League so much for the longest time, but this is the straw that will break the camel’s back. This was a massive mistake by Epic and I will be curious to see how bad this goes over the next couple of months. I can understand traiding for something you want but this is sad your letting one little thing destroy a game you "loved" just from this post alone shows your not that invested in the game at all I've been here since almost the beginning maybe a year or 2 after it started and I'll still play it I would like to trade for an item after December but I won't let that kill the game for me
@@Rasheed1494 It's not just the trading aspect. It's the precedent it sets. Ever since epic bought them it has gone to shit. They don't listen to the community anymore. It's just very distasteful, especially the timing of it. And guess what, today they tweet out NFL dlc stuff as if nothing happened yesterday. They're only about the money, that's the real reason why trading is going. They know that the market is big for item shop. And it's not "one little thing". Trading was a massive part of the game and this community, Blind Trading was huge. And you're right, I'm not as invested in the game anymore, no one is.

All it takes, it to get EVERYONE, not a single individual left out... And agree to never ever spend money on the item shop again, until they reverse this decision. Even better, would be to all agree to stop playing altogether.
I guarantee they would change their minds when they actually suffer consequences for their greed and idiocy.

Jon, when i first got into Rocket League you were the first creator I ever watched and to this day I still watch you. From the bottom of my broken heart, I will still watch. It's a very dark day for RL, To hear you say "I don't want to drive anymore" really hit me hard. Like a piece of me has been torn away. Thank you for countless moments of entertainment and thank you for getting me through the difficult times in my life. You truly are the greatest.

Jon whatever you do i will support it, CS2 gameplay, cases, RL, whatever, for me it has always been the way you are as a person and not what you are playing, so if RL isn't what makes you happy just do something else, if CS2 is the way for you then do it, if you dont enjoy playing a game dont play it, it isn't worth it. Never thought I’d see the day where I would uninstall rocket league.
Those were some fun years. Thanks for making fun content throughout the years and excited for the future content you make.
Another thing is for people like me, trading was one of the only ways to obtain items you wanted. I would just collect items I didn't like from special event drops and then trade them up until I got an item I wanted. Spending $10-$20 on just one item was not something I could do regularly.
They are only removing P2P trading, but trade ups for dupes etc. will still exist
@@CriticalJ trade ups rarely give you good items, and even more rarely painted/titled. I did thousands of trade ups and only got 1 or 2 painted bms, the rest were basic and useless.
If they could make a decision THIS BAD... imagine what else they may try. Complete ignorance of their player base

I've been playing since 2016, I have grown up with a colourful community and Jon, you have been a big part of my life as well.
Everything from blind trading to crate wars, from the Flying F with F2, the modded era of volleyball and car size changes. From pimp my Rocket League ride, to the knockout games. From competitive with the Rizzle, Sizzle, Jizzle, to the slapbutt days with Rob. I have been watching. Despite sometimes withdrawing myself from the game and then playing religiously, one thing has been constant. This community's desire to innovate and breathe new life into the game at each hurdle. But each hurdle seems to become taller, another sandbag at the heels of the players. Soon enough that weight is too much.
I understand how much this means to you Jon, I can see it in your eyes. A legacy and history evaporated not just by this but every decision or indecision Epic Games have made.
One of my fondest memories is when the Overdrive crates came out. We got new music, goal explosions, trails, ranked felt buzzing. Me and my cousin had great memories of playing and using what little money we had for Rocket League to enjoy the item side of the game. My first black market was Electroshock which my cousin traded me and I will always remember that, its that human interaction and that sense of community that we lose from this change.
Jon, I will continue to support you in whatever you decide to do, whether that be Rocket League, CSGO, variety games like Gang Beasts (seriously that video with you, Rob and Vikk was amazing and made me wait at least 3 years for that game to come out on console), or Music (which I love seeing your music interests coming from a place of my own interests). Either way there will always be a community to back each other and remember these times.

Usually changes like this are made to help a different side of the community, even if that means it affects another, but this is a change that is downright horrendous for every kind of rocket league player.
Haven’t played rocket league in months. Favorite game. Haven’t even watched content. Just haven’t been able to play and wanted to watch content.
Watched a sunlesskhan vid about the the decline of rocket league and had to see if the trading thing was true on top of everything else. This is wild😔

I wish more players would talk and care about the stale scoring and ranking systems more than this crap. The devs have invested nearly all of their time on the cosmetic system instead of gameplay systems. It's virtually unchanged since the game came out 10 years ago. They need to introduce a better scoring and ranking system that actually accounts for skill and performance.
PTP Trading is the only reason why most people grind for hours or buy items on this game. Time wasn’t wasted because items had real life value! This is the worst decision made by old business men who do not know what makes a game amazing or keeps players truly interested in playing. Goodbye Rocket League!

We should all try to trade for as many super rare/limited items that we want right now.
I mean I managed to find someone with the limited WWE wheels and I bought/traded for them back when we were using and trading crate keys.

I really sucked at rocket league, especially in the beginning. trading gave me something to do when i was tired of losing. i used to spend countless hours flipping items just to make a credit profit because it was genuinely enjoyable. this is such a stupid change they can’t follow through with this
This is actually disheartening, and affects everyone. In the future, people who want to copy designs made in the past just won't be able to.
They're probably doing this because they want to incentivize people to buy the passes or the awfully priced items in the shop over trading for just specific items (console especially), but for some people that's just too much of a commitment when they just want one or two things.
Worse case scenario: this is just the beginning and they go after Bakkes Mod next.
I literally love copying designs, its what made me feel good and gave me the placebo that i am playing better in ranked, im so annoyed wow
The only reason they've gotten money from me is because of buying credits for trading.
The game isn't popular enough these days to warrant this change, it will absolutely kill a noticable portion of the game.

A lot of us are with you man, I came back to the game a couple months ago and the first thing I did was get back into trading to see what items I missed and such like that. I met new friends to play with and have a great time with the game itself. This truly is such a massive blow to such an amazing community that loved the game and each other (except all you demo sweats, LET ME LIVE!!) I am also probably not gonna play after this happens because I hate the micro transaction era we are in and now we cant even trade for items that we want, now we have to trade up and pray that rng works out for us. I will always be in this community because your content is some of my favorite to watch and I hope that we can get through this absolute blasphemy. Love you Sandman, keep up the amazing work that you've worked so hard to gift to this amazing community!

This video brought me to tears Jon. You are so right, I grew up with rocket league and first played when i was 13, and got into your channel because of crate openings, crate wars, pimp my rocket league ride and much much more. I’m 20 now and look back on those years extremely fondly. The fact they are just removing trading completely from the game with 0 communication is heartbreaking. Rip rocket league and the beautiful community that was created, appreciate all of you for the memories you have given me 🙏🙏
Even if they were to reverse their decision, the fact that this even crossed their minds shows they dont have the community s interests at heart.

This is quite honestly in all the years it's been around the worst decision that's ever been made with rocket league, it's already not as fun anymore this is just the last nail in the coffin to me. I don't get this decision it's so frustrating especially with things like drops we're all just stuck with 17 plain splash goal explosions it's WILD to me

As a middle schooler, trading was my favorite part of the game. I spent probably half of all of my 15,000+ hours in the game just trading with other people. I’m now in college, and it’s super sad to see this core feature of the game being removed. I stopped playing when they removed crates, and this is just the nail on the coffin.

Boycott!! More creators need to step up to the plate like you! This is the only way, been playing since 2015 and I'm quitting at least as long as I can to try and make what little impact I can. I don't want to see my favorite game turn into an EA Madden situation that I've memed on since the beginning of time.
