Some under rated singers from 60’s and 70’s have become famous 40 to 50 years later. In Bollywood which is Indian film industry there was a singer called Kishore Kumar . @@lm5730 I know underrated is way overused for anything, but if you look into his history he was really underappreciated. He was friends with people like Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison, among other legends. During his heyday he was a damn good bluesy singer, almost as if he was ripped out of the big band era and placed in classic rock. The worst part of his success is he came with the animals during the height of the british invasion, and seemed like nothing more than another one. I think if he wrote way more songs and melodies he could've stood out more. Their biggest hit is a classic composition, and most of their singles are someone else's compositions. Sure, for one reason or another he couldn't or wouldn't perform his own songs which is fair enough. If only he did though, I have a feeling his distinct voice would be more recognisable. And lastly, there's the fact he was a founding member of War and they went behind his back and all signed a record deal without him. Not just that but he had quite the rocky 70s and whatever else from then on.
When my dad passed away during his last few mins of life they say the hearing is the last to go! I played this song as was always his fave! Growing old myself I have nothing but respect for this rendition with the accommodation for 80 year old vocal cords. It makes me sick to hear all the stupid comments. Have we forgotten what it is to be a human?
I have the upmost respect for Mr. Burdon and his talent! I’m 77 myself, and I Never would have had the stamina to maintain a successful career the way that he has for all of these years.

Have no plans on ever going to another one for many reasons. Great song and did you know that there is even a disco version of this song? By the way, The Animals version is not the original. Is an old song from the days of Jazz
...ever since I was a kid of 16y old and hitting the 71st y of my life acouiple of days ago, I was a deep admirer of Eric. He has given me perspective of life in those kiddy days when I was in Boarding School way up in the mountains in Switzerland. I felt very much honored when in 2012 or 2013, I think, he visited us in Rapperswil, at the Lake of Zurich. He was wearing his sun glasses, lol. But he was here and there. My bro! I have been following all you went thru in life. Thank you, thank you! Raymond
Timeless classic, I know this was recorded some time ago but it still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand to attention, Eric Burdon is the boss of British Blue's, what a legend........ Love this version.....
Eric Victor Burdon I think we DID IT!!! I coordinated the entire Rose 🌹 Bowl for 20 years as the Stadium COORDINATOR! After that I went to for the Chamber of Commerce in 1996 as Vice President over the port of L.A., in 2011. I became a Criminal/Corporate justice lawyer. Now I’m 63 and my career has been quite a trip! Love, Jeanne Faith Parent!!!

Боже, как же круто! Песня была исполнена Эриком задолго до моего рождения. Сквозь долгие годы остается любимой мной и многими, как и сам Эрик Бердон. Здоровья!!!!
As a small boy in the 60's, House of the Rising Sun and Procul Harum's Whiter Shade of Pale were the first two songs I noticed and loved from the moment I first heard them through the speaker of my Dad's 67 Mercury. Both hit me like a ton of bricks back then and to this very day.
I'ma Banana I have never seen any of them shou live because I had no television at the time. More than 40 years later I encounter eat their image. It was a surprise for me to see the path of Eric
+Roxxane D'troyt Wow ur an idiot. Santos doesnt claim to be 'cool' to have not had a TV 40 yrs ago, just that they didnt have one. Stop spreading hate around, it doesnt make you cool either.
+VANDA SANTOS There were times in my childhood- and adulthood as well, in which I had little to no access to a tv/service. In my childhood- was nearly unheard of to have 2 tvs in the house and not always one at all. And, unusual to allow kids take over what to watch on that 1 tv. (I often did get to see Ed Sullivan however) There is a whole lot that I'd never seen until youtube arrived. I am happy to have the opportunity these days to 'follow the path' of my beloved groups and artists from my youth on to now, and it's great for budding musicians too.
Fantástica apresentação do Éric Burdon. Sua voz continua potente, firme e vibrante como antes. Meus parabéns e desejo que ele permaneça por muitos anos a mostrar seu grande talento e dom vocal.
@@fernandomacias3735 didn't u noticed that fact that him is old now? Didn't you noticed that fact that just 55 years has gone? Check again minute 5:00, for his age hes doing it well how much as he can, stop your hating 👍🏻
Come on critics..... Can you really fault Burdon's voice? He is 70 in this performance! 70!! He hits every note accurately. His singing is still gritty and soulful. And the rest of the band is right on. Great guitar playing and organ playing.
I've enjoyed Burdon's vocals from day one, because he was gritty and tough, very natural and always full of emotion. IMHO, I'm glad I could experience that from him. The Animals always made me feel right at home in the blue collar struggle. He treats age as life experience, not collected stuff. Always refreshing to hear and even see him doin' his thang. At 75 he's still "doin' it" too! "When I Was Young" is a reflective anthem to me. It was then and it is now. He's one of the most dynamic songwriters in whatever genre he's writing in. His songs are always great stories shared.
You're right, Joan Blake. He sang that song in a similar manner when he was much younger, and I love that The Animals are still out there kickin' it. :-)
I've heard this boy play live many many many times since he was 20 years old. This is has got to be the finest guitar work I've ever heard him do. WGW remains my favorite guitar player of all time. Funkiest Irish boy there is !

David A. Marin I've heard some bands that you said, of course may there are many nice bands at the moment, but I think these bands doesn't makes the songs just like 40, 50 years ago. Something that gets in our mind by long.
Kenthis15 I agree, but here in brazil, we can't note the good songs from now. Perhaps we're lost in somewhere in the time or we aren't using our ears. hahaha
Marcos Dias It might not be your taste of Music but srsly The Black Keys Made an Album (Turn Blue) in 2014 that is by many Reviews compared with early Pink Floyd Albums and it might not be the same to you but i can enjoy there Songs as much as i Can enjoy Classic rock Songs because i feel the same Hand made emotional Sound . Just listen to Songs like weight of love its just not the Music that gets played on Radio anymore.
Loving this still in 2024 ❤❤❤
September 2024

I think that Eric Burdon's voice has held up very well. I hope he continues to sing for us for many more years to come,.
I cant believe he pulled off those high notes. At that age. Hats off to him.

Спасибо! Только ради этого шедевра стоило родиться!!!..1964 год моего рождения!
Damnnnnnnnnnn, damn, damn, this is genius!!!! Absolutely brilliant.
Burdon is a legend , he just focused on the music so the people focus on him , you can see his head banging together with beat of music
Growing old myself I have nothing but respect for this rendition with the accommodation for 80 year old vocal cords. It makes me sick to hear all the stupid comments. Have we forgotten what it is to be a human?
Larry Schwarm hey Larry , how are you mate? Enjoy your day fella!
Appreciate the fact that we'd be out of breath! I just saw a BadCo concert on TV, and Paul Rodgers did a great job, but different. Still awesome.
Hello Larry, how are you doing. I trust you are safe and in good health...I'm looking for new friend Ok!
Eric turns 80 on May 11, 2021
I have the upmost respect for Mr. Burdon and his talent! I’m 77 myself, and I Never would have had the stamina to maintain a successful career the way that he has for all of these years.
Eric still has his mojo, at 70 years old. All his phrasing too! Man what a way to start one’s day, listening to this number that never gets old.
Qué emoción haber encontrado esta versión!
Maravillosa tu voz Eric! Qué buen clima! Gracias ✌️🤟🖐️❤️

Raymond
Beautiful comment, this song remains your great-old days Mr Raymond. The song is so deep
And I was 14 y old studying in England in a boarding school. Ursuline convent in Kent. This song is still one of my favorites.

Timeless classic, I know this was recorded some time ago but it still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand to attention, Eric Burdon is the boss of British Blue's, what a legend........ Love this version.....
Спасибо, Эрик! Очень уважаю тебя и твои песни!!!)
Thank you for reading my letter I wrote to Marianna back in 2009. I wished I could have met you to get a hug, but even more happy to hear Dragon Lady was hugged to death by you and loved ❤️to pieces or peace’s (Double Speak). By YOU!!! She was so happy I could hardly believe it! Anyway you pretty much hit it with me as far as our communication has been working and everything has been settled settled.

Dont see a talent to replace or step up and fill the gap. As great and unique as ever. Talent with character and tunes like this should never get old.
Пусть живут Легенды и Сказки ВЕЧНО ! КУМИРЫ НАШЕЙ МОЛОДОСТИ ! ! !
Время-сволочь, как же ты безжалостно!

Мировой хит на все времена.

He's still as great as i remember. Live on, Eric!
I'ma Banana I have never seen any of them shou live because I had no television at the time. More than 40 years later I encounter eat their image. It was a surprise for me to see the path of Eric
+VANDA SANTOS wow ur cool u didn't own a tv, so what's changed to come to us the "unwashed" masses?
+Roxxane D'troyt Wow ur an idiot. Santos doesnt claim to be 'cool' to have not had a TV 40 yrs ago, just that they didnt have one. Stop spreading hate around, it doesnt make you cool either.
+VANDA SANTOS There were times in my childhood- and
adulthood as well, in which I had little to no access to a tv/service.
Then ..SEE.. At Little Expence ? House Of The Rising Sun Keith Wigley On TH-cam And Its Only The river and other songs..
That was beautiful Eric Burdon and the Animals! Rockin on !! ✌❤
Fantástica apresentação do Éric Burdon.

I'm 67 years old and this song remains my No. 1 favourite. I still know all the words to the song to this day🥰
His voice has always and is always (still is) the best
Come on critics..... Can you really fault Burdon's voice? He is 70 in this performance! 70!! He hits every note accurately. His singing is still gritty and soulful. And the rest of the band is right on. Great guitar playing and organ playing.
+joan blake i think most of us that heard this originally , cant seem to see someone older, like we dont see ourselves other than living way back then
4:05
hey amigo hasta ahora sigues siendo un the animals sigamos disfrutando tu musica.yes
Funkiest Irish boy there is !
sucks now
