You're certainly entitled to your opinion, though I don't think one has the same weight and power as the Animals version. The organ is so much more powerful than the piano in this one. As far as "the original", I challenge you to identify who the original author is. If your implication is that the Animals version is the original, it is not. It's merely the most popular recorded version of the song.
Erik, I love the fact that you stepped away from Skid Row and took a look at life, the future. I'm an old man, there is a lot of things I regret doing and even more things I regret NOT doing, not doing while I was young. You're at an age where you can look at things with a clean perspective, you can look at hiking, biking, climbing, going to the beach, the desert, the mountains, and enjoying things while you still can because you are the rare thing: Someone young who knows that the ability to enjoy things will eventually taper off until we're laying alone in a hospital bed, filled with regrets. You are gifted with a talent that surpasses that of typical vocal virtuosos, your songs have brought happiness and calm to millions of people and we greatly appreciate your gift that you share with us. No fooling, no kidding, your voice inspires and lifts our souls, our own lives which may be happy, sad, or merely blase. I am damn grateful that I found your channel, found your songs, and found your amazing voice. It's Thanksgiving in America, and you are a treasure that I am thankful I found on line.

Powerful version of a legendary song. Erik's upper register is incredibly powerful. I was introduced to Erik through his collaborations with Dan Vasc, and he's definitely got a new fan here with this one. BRAVO!!!!!
Erik. Wow. This sent shivers down my spine. I live in Georgia. When I was only 13 or 14 I went with my dad to New Orleans. He was a truck driver. We spent a weekend there a couple of times. A friend of mine that I knew who lived there had an old army jeep that he drove. He was only a year or two older than me. Well, on Saturday night he drove me to the French Quarter in New Orleans. Wow, how this old country boy's eyes were opened to the evils of this world. I'll never forget that. Mamas tell your children not to do what I have done. Cause I know, I'm one. What a timely warning. And one that should be heeded. Erik - I love your music, but this one struck home with me. Erik, my wife and I are praying for your health. We want you here with us. We love your music. Thanks Erik

Absolutely the best take on this song, just loving it. You did it again, another song blessed and refined with the work you guys put in ❤
Well hello there! Finding this version was one helluva happy accident ❤
It started and I was like "this is good, but not epic"... Then just over two and a half minutes in it explodes. Damn. Glad this showed up in my YT recommendations.
That was incredible! You turned that song into your own haunting masterpiece. And that video! It was so well done, perfection all around.
YOU THE BEST! Thanks girl! 🙏🏻😘
He did 100%!!!🖤🖤🖤💋
GEEEES 😳 This is something else, this is ART ❤
I actually stood up and clapped.
Many great artists have done that song and raised the bar high. You Sir have raised it higher still. To the point where I don't think anyone else could succeed to top it. Well done, extremely well done.
Omg!!! Woooow…you just showed what you are made of😳😳 so much depth and passion in your interpretation ... THANK YOU!!! 🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️
Thank YOU Gitte for your super thanks, glad you like this 🙏🏻
The most epic version
born in New Orleans......tears,,,,Thank you God ....thank you for saving my daughters life tonight from homelessness and addiction,,,

Algorithm brought me here. Sometimes the big Al comes through. Thank you, beautiful. Goosebumps.
It’s hard to create what is already had been created but you did it , respect
That...was freaking...amazing. I mean, wow. What a phenomenal rendition of a great song. Well done, sir. ❤
Whoa! I love a song that gives goosebumps. You know the singer nailed it! That keyboard was most excellent also!
Holy moly that was intense. Felt it in my soul and going deeper still.
This is the best cover of this song I have ever heard. And I grew up listening to the original.
Still prefer The Animals version! just my opinion.
@@Brigand231 I meant original as in Rock/Blues, no idea who the very original was.
Ditto. Was introduced to this song by The Animals, thinking I was either 10 or 11. Didn't think anyone could beat it, but wrong!
I’ll say this is a hauntingly beautiful cover. Wonderful job!
Absolutely brilliant, Erik. This is better than the original in my opinion. You did an incredible job on this. Well done.
Wow, thank you!
I absolutely love his style, voice and take of this song. A masterpiece!!!!!
🙏🏻♥️ thank you so much!! I hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving! I appreciate you!
I too have heard this song my whole life. I am 62 and have also heard many versions. I agree. So good, So powerful. Thank you for the post. God Bless! 🐢🇺🇸
ERIK. has such soul...nobody can learn that...its built in and why he is such a FANTASTIC SINGER ❤❤❤!
Goosebumps from the very first note ❤❤❤
My God. Is there anything you can't sing? This is amazing. I usually don't like covers, but you do them all so well it's impossible not to love you.
I know your story, and you're an inspiration.
Omg, THAT MODULATION!! The only song cover I can't listen to without standing up. Bravo from Belarus!
BROTHER! Erik, you have a fantastic voice! This litteraly gave me goose bumps!! WOW wtf!
The way this song was meant to be- the piano takes you there. Excellent work- takes me back to better times.
I could only ever listen to "The animals" sing this song. You blew it out water completely. This is an amazing version dude! What a voice! 👊✨
Powerful version of a legendary song.
Erik's upper register is incredibly powerful.
I was introduced to Erik through his collaborations with Dan Vasc, and he's definitely got a new fan here with this one.
BRAVO!!!!!
Same- love so many of those collaborating with Dan.
Ohhh !! Erik, You did it again !!
Simply outstanding, just love it.
God bless you !!
Erik. Thanks Erik
Thank you for sharing your story and for being here!!
Halfway to 1 million views in 2 weeks. Yeah, this thing is going to a billion. Erik is untouchable.
Best version i've ever heard. Goosebumps everywhere. This song is in my Playlist
You're good, bro, you're really damn good. Your voice contains the energy of rock, the power of heavy metal and the difficult human destiny. I'm waiting for you at the top of the world charts
Damn, dropped off my stool! I am the one that tells the thruth, but nothing but the thruth, NAILED IT!!!
Hej Erik.
Tack!
WOW!!!
WOW!!!
WOW!!!
Thank you Erik for bringing power to this classic song.
