- This is the original Animals lineup lip-synching to The House of the Rising Sun on the British TV Show The Rehearsal Room on 7-22-64. Although there are other songs from this show on TH-cam I didn't find a full version of this song with opening interview anywhere.
Audio is poor. I tried to fix it but it's from a beat up VHS tape. Hope you enjoy it anyway.

This is the album cut note for note including the vocals. One of the most iconic songs ever.
I was about 14 yrs. old when I 1st heard this masterpiece. It. "Moved" me in a way that nothing else ever had. It still does!
There will never be music this good ever again.
It's a folk song from the 1850's. given a modern treatment. the message is ageless.

Eric Burdon is a genius! I was 15 yrs. old when this masterpiece was 1st aired on the radio. I was, emotionally, impacted.
I remember that this song was really controversial back then as ut was about a brothel called The house of the rising sun. As teenagers we had no idea we just loved it for Eric, the music and tempo and still do.
These guys, doing this The House of the Rising Sun , way back , is OUTSTANDING ....
First heard this in 1969 in the pub in Croyden Surrey England when I was 16 doing a training course for the Midland Bank,I was with a group of other girls. One of my favourite songs ever. Jocelyn

This kind of song 🎧 dances circles around any of the pop culture songs by the Taylor Swifts & Dua Lipas of today’s music industry whose best songs will be long forgotten 2 or 3 years from now! But songs like these are still going strong 60 years later & will keep going fir decades to come!!!

What an awesome piece of footage, made before release in both the UK and 2 months later in the US where it was Number One for three weeks! Talk about out of left field for 1964, this song was beautifully arranged by the boys, recorded in 15 minutes - as Mickie Most said, he didn't need to produce very much at all, the Animals had done a superb arrangement themselves. Classic! (Great seeing diddy David Hamilton as a youth!)

I am always impressed by how professional and quick thinking Eric is when asked goofy questions by the emcees of these shows. He never flinched, stays calm and gives a short answer to any question. He seems to be ready for anything no matter how ridiculous the question is or comment by emcee.

I’m transported straight back to the day this was released and you could see it on your very own black and white telly. They were there at the beginning and god bless them. No one had heard anything like it. The last time I saw Eric Burden was at Hyde Park singing Paint It Black and I seem to remember Canned Heat played there as well. Those were the days when music was real!

This is great footage from the early sixties ,being born in the late fifties we were spoiled by quality groups and solo singers we had a great time growing up with all these quality bands.

The Rising Sun was actually a pub in Walker Near Newcastle apon Tyne England UK. The lylics were changed for the American Market , it became a World wide hit . So they kept it.

Maybe another reason he may have been more than a bit jealous of Eric. Runs off to play keyboard for Dylan then eventually back with remake of Animals. He and Eric were writing a few good original songs. How impulsive of him to grab the money and run
@@bethh.9647 he sure did grab all of the royalties for “House of the Rising Sun”. Eric Burdon and the rest of the band mates have been very bitter about that all these years later. Especially Eric who has it requested by his fans at every concert for almost 60 years!
There was no Auto tune that time so, they are really great artists.

Arlington Hts, Ill. had the hit that they covered. Thats the version I like. Has a Rickenbacker 12-string in it. Loved it!! Every band fr. that era has done "Gloria"!!

What a fun video that was to watch! Very historical. Just before their first huge hit of "The House of the Rising Sun". They were lip syncing to the recording, of course, but that was very typical for TV in the 60s.
