One of the nicest Mustangs I have seen in a long time. Only changes I would make would be a 4bbl intake and headers to give the engine a bit more power. The best factory Windsor heads came on the 1969 351W. They had bigger ports and valves than the 289/302. By the late 70's Ford was putting 302 heads on the 351, probably to save money.
Nice Mach. The 351 Cleveland was the Chevy killer, Not the Windsor. But the 351 C was not offered until 1970, The 4V Cleveland has much bigger ports, with 2.19 diameter canted valves . The BOSS 351 C was the Ultimate small block Ford available 1 year only ,1971. Easily producing 400 HP but was underrated for insurance reasons.. Now aftermarket heads will wake up the Windsor !

@@Earths1stgamer True , If your build date was very late in the year it could have happened. Ive seen 3 of them. My Mach was built April 14 1969 , Born a Windsor. I dropped the Boss Cleveland in myself..Food for thought, the Boss 302 has 351 Cleveland heads. Do big block heads fit small blocks ? NOPE.
@@Earths1stgamer Late 69 yes ,But technically was not offered until 1970. Ford had the heads ready for the Boss 302, but the Cleveland engine plant wasnt quite ready for full production until late 69. So if you got a Cleveland in your 69 you were very lucky ! Remember this is the same engine Bob Glidden totally Dominated Pro stock with in the 70s.
The windsor was not the "racing type engine", it was the base small block tuned for low speed torque rather than power. The 351C was designed for power. The 351C 4v had 300 hp.
@@charlesvan13 , huge ports and valves make a great foundation for hp. It was pretty fun in daily driver form. I know there was a pretty religious following of the Cleveland at the time. Thanks again for your comments!
Versus 290hp factory spec for the 4 barrel Windsor. The Wind does motor gave much more low and mid range torque. The Cleveland motor bogged down at lower rpms, due to the larger intake valves. The Cleveland on the drag strip was faster by a bit.. but the Windsor gave better around town performance.
@@RadDadToolbox I don't believe it was a Cleveland. Cleveland wirhe the larger I naked valves were not produced by Ford until 1970. ...a June 1969 mach1 ordered customer.

I have a 13 mustang GT I recently got. For the two extra grill headlights, do I have to have the high beams on? I thought mine was broken, would sure be nice if there was a way to always have them on.
Hi Midnight Lotus, yea usually when the high beams are on the grill lights, fog lights, etc go off. You can have a separate switch wired so that you can turn them on or off(or leave them on) anytime. Thanks for the comment!
Man! Fellow! I guess you are too young to have any really knowledge of these cars.. expl. There was no 351 cleveland in 69. That motor came in 1970. Your test car appears to be a 351 2 barrel...the lowest performance 69 mach 1 you could buy. Wher imciming from...I ordered my new 69 mach 1 in 69. I still have it. It still smells of new car inside. 351 4 barrel dual exhaust 10.7/1 compression ratio from factoty .versus yhe lowest performance car ..which you apparently have ..2 barrel,low compression ... single exhaust. There is more to learn as about these cars. Suggest you research before pontificating.

The 351 Cleveland was offered in 1969 i had one it was not considered a small block either.

search on You Tube 1969 mustang 351 Cleveland and there you will see if its was a 69.5 lol ok fine but the engine was used frequently that year.

They probably didn't have that much difference in stock, daily driver, form. But the Cleveland had huge ports and valves.

Beautiful car, gotta say though, those dash lights are extremely dim. Glad I swapped my incandescent bulbs to led bulbs in my '70 Mustang.
Grumpy Swordsman, yea LEDs are the way to go. Those old bulbs are hard to see, no where near modern car building standards. Thanks for the comment!
