    PASTALAYA
    1 lb Pork Chopped
Salt & Pepper (to season pork)
    1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
1 lb Boneless Chicken Thighs Chopped
    1 lb Smoked Sausage
    1 Onion
    1 Bell Pepper
    1 Bunch Green Onion
    2 Sticks of Celery
    1 Tablespoon minced garlic
1/2 Tablespoon of Cajun or Creole Seasoning
    3 Beef Bouillon Cubes
    3 & 1/2 Cups Water
1 (10.5 oz) Can of Cream of Chicken Soup
    1 Tablespoon of Hot Sauce
    2 Tablespoon Kitchen Bouquet
1 lb (16 oz) of Bow Tie or Favorite Pasta
First, start out by heating a cast iron pot over medium heat.
Chop your vegetables and move them to the fridge.
Season the pork well with salt and pepper.
Add the vegetable oil to the pot and sear the pork in the oil.
When you no longer see pink, turn the heat to low and simmer for 25 minutes stirring every so often.
Meanwhile chop your chicken and sausage.
At the 25 minute mark, raise the heat back up to medium, add the chicken and let cook for 10 minutes stirring occasionally.
After 10 minutes, remove pork and chicken with a slotted spoon into a bowl.
Add the sausage to the pot cooking 10 minutes or until you see some browning.
At this point preheat your oven to 300°
After 10 minutes, Remove the sausage so that there's nothing left but the drippings.
Add the onion, bell pepper, green onion, celery, garlic, cajun seasoning, and beef cubes.
Sauté until completely soft, roughly 30 minutes.
Add the water, cream of chicken, hot sauce, kitchen boquet and raise the heat.
When the soup has blended, add the pasta and meat back in. Mix well.
Once everything mixed nicely, press down on the top so that all pasta is touching liquid.
Bring the mix to a boil. Once boiling, cover, turn the fire off, and put the pot in the oven.
Cook for exactly 1 hour. Do NOT touch that oven! Leave it alone! Trust me 😊
When done, remove the pot, and set aside for 5 minutes before uncovering.
When the time is up, remove the cover, mix everything well, and serve.
    Hope you enjoy!

I just got done making this, and it turned out great! I used 2lbs of smoked sausage (by accident, because the 2lbs were frozen together, so I had to defrost together. I was supposed to only use half, but forgot) and 24 oz. of colossal shrimp. I had to add a little extra water to make sure all of the pasta got wet. I would recommend. I'll make it again, but next time I'm doing chicken and shrimp.

If you carmelized a teaspoon of sugar in your oil (in the center of your pot) and then add your meat, you'll get a better browning on your meat. You won't need the Kitchen Bouquet and it will make a nice dark gravy and taste better. My Cajun Momo taught me this many moons ago.💞 It surprises me that more people don't know this. Just a little tip. Looks tasty and I enjoy the comedy of your videos. 😊

    • @TheCajunNinja
      @TheCajunNinja  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Dawn Massey oh cool! I appreciate the tip.
I don’t know why so many hate on Kitchen Boquet tho. It literally does nothing for flavor. It just adds a little color. At the end of the day, you at least have to do SOMETHING for color. Whether it’s browning more onions, adding kitchen boquet, or adding brown sugar. 😏👊🏻

I have a magnalite pot the same size, could that work as well? I’m really wanting to make this and try your jambalaya recipe!

Yummy, haven't had this in over 25 years, going to give it a try. Think breast would work instead of thighs?

OMG!!!! This was sooooo good!!!! Definitely a keeper! Hubby loved it. As there was only the two of us, there's plenty of leftovers headed to the freezer for next week!

Jan Button I'm just wondering if it freezes well? There's only myself & my husband as well so I know there will be plenty left over & I don't want it to go to waste.

Hi Shirkera, yes it froze quite well and was even tastier the 2nd time around.

Jan Button that's great to hear! Thank you so much for sharing. I plan to try it tomorrow night for dinner. I just need to purchase a oven proof pot first!

The Cajun Ninja do you think it'll be ok to use the frozen veggies by pic sweet or is there a major difference in the two? Also, why do you put them in the fridge after chopping while the chicken cooks? I plan to follow your instructions, but I'm just curious since I've never seen anyone do that before.
