- Yet another one that is surprisingly easy. You asked for a homemade how-to guide on a mcgriddle and I think we just hit this bad boy outta the park. I'm talking homemade griddle cakes plus little spots of molten real maple syrup.

How often do you get EA jokes when you say that major of yours?
Save yourself some time and stress. Order Maple Sugar Chunks. NOT maple sugar. That’s the secret! Put it directly into the batter. It won’t dissolve but it will melt a little into the pancakes while cooking. I used Stony Acres Maple Chunks from Amazon. I used about a tablespoon to my batter (made 6 small pancakes). Thank me later. Also you can add a little maple syrup to the batter too!!

I always ask for a 'round egg' on my McGriddles. They just crack an egg into a ring mold on the griddle; tastes so much better than that folded nonsense.

@Bad Larry Yeah, most of the issues with his McGriddle seemed to be a problem of the McDonald's he got it at not making it as well
just so everyone knows folded egg comes vacuumed sealed already cooked,, don't order that . the scrambled egg with the big breakfast is liquid egg. the only true egg is the round egg found on the mcmuffins which is cracked on steamed/cooked on the grilled. so whenever you order anything breakfast make sure to say "substitute X egg with rounded egg"

A lot of video recipes go faster when you do it on your own though, especially when you do it a few times or if you keep some of the ingredients pre-made on hand in a jar or bag, for something you make a lot. There are also shortcuts. Like you can use pancake mix for the breading and maple syrup poured over the bacon instead of the ball pieces. It's not going to have a fancy restaurant flare but still really good and better than the fast food version.

I always wondered how they injected the syrup inside the pancake. Never thought it was just melted syrup balls put into the batter. Pretty cool.

@@xionmemoria not really, they make injection syringes for meat, you can get those at kitchen supply stores. I would imagine McD's is probably using something similar to that.
I always thought they just put some maple syrup in the batter after they put it on the stove; that's how I did it at home.
Damn, that stove he has at his house is amazing.
I made this over the weekend (with sausage and no cheese) and learned some things not mentioned in the video:
-Make sure not to let the syrup cool too long on the baking sheet as it will just become hard candy & not possible to roll into balls. As hard candy it will still work, but it ends up like shards of glass before you add them to the pancakes and they melt. I found roughly 8g was enough for one cake.
-The pancake batter (for me) came out much more liquidy than his. It still worked perfectly fine, but it is good to know if you have the same happen to you.

Fast food is literally fast food, whereas Josh takes at least an hour to cook the food. Of course he would win every time. Why doesn’t he try giving himself the same time frame as the chosen restaurant to make it fair?
I think that mcdonalds would use more machine's then he does
You cant count prep time, every restaurant or fast food chain pre preps at least some products
The 2 main reasons why he wins is that most mcdonalds workers have very little real culinary exp, and with that amount of orders cosistency would be very hard even for the best chefs in the world
If he had pre cooked bacon, pre made buns, and only had to cook the egg like McD's im sure he could slap one together in the same time.

I'd have a ring mold before I'd ever have a mason jar lid. I hate mason jars, and think it's super weird when I see people drinking out of one of them like it's a glass.

That is a fair assessment; although I think it may just turn out similarly, and all we’ve changed is sausage. This said, the sausage (for McDonalds) Is categorically better when you need a meal, I don’t doubt the Bacon one is pretty okay, I just know they wouldn’t do the bacon how I like it (i’ve eaten a bacon cheese burger, it’s all I really need to know that they give the bacon 1/2 the attention it needs).

Why not just get the pancake quick mix and add half water and half syrup? I should say that, I do that actually and you can adjust it for sweeter or not as sweet. Also you can use the light sugar syrup for those of us that are diabetic. You can also add a few berries if your going light on the syrup mixture. I apologise , I only wanted to ask about adding the syrup to a quick mix, not write a book. Here's an update, everything I said in this comment works.....
