This generation of TT looks the best imo. And I’m with you on the interior, it does need a screen on the dash or an option for one for the passenger above the glove box like you’d see in a Ferrari I believe.
@@brianiswrong yea it could have changeable displays for speed, maps, media, climate and whatever else. Turn it off to give the passenger a death ride 🤣
These are great cars! Forget all of the labels, these are fun, comfortable, great looking and well built cars. I recently purchased a 2018 TTRS and it's not only extremely fast, it gets great MPG when I'm not honking on it. Over 30 MPG on the highway! And it's got loads of space behind the seat. I recently took my daughter to her guitar lesson, and on the way back stopped by an office supply store. There was enough space with the seats down to fit an office chair, her guitar and amp. I couldn't do that in a Cayman!
We had a 2012 TTS about 6 to 7 years ago. Was alot of fun; fast, sounds great, handles well. Absolute B road weapon. I always got the hairdressers car comments and would offer those people a ride in it. Those that got in for a terror ride soon changed their tune haha.
I’ve had a 2015 mk3 TT S line Quattro since August last year. Great little car - More than quick enough for daily use. I’m a 54 year old bloke so generally laugh if people use the tired old cliches 🤣 - I generally find they drive boring family cars or SUV’s but each to their own - I’ve just replaced all 4 tyres with Michelin Pilot Sports - superb in this horrible, wet winter weather. Great review 👍
Had my MkII 59 plate for a couple of years. 2L petrol TFSI remapped and it's such a good car for the money. I can get where I need to and out of sticky situations quickly, it drives nice for weekends away. And with the seats down it fits all my music equipment in there on a weekly basis. Solid, reliable and fun for not a lot of buck. I'll probably run it for a few more years for sure.
Going to buy a TTS by year end, owned a 2003 205 bhp absolutely loved my old TT ...now I want to step up to the next level so the TTS or maybe I'll grab a RS as I love the TT plus I own a Ducati Streetfighter 1098 ...great vid, love the Roar of the engine music to my ears. 😊
Bought a Tango Red TTS 2 weeks ago coming from 2 mk1s. Absolutely love it. So fast. Haven't found the limit yet where it is even stretched in terms of speed or performance - just keeps asking for more. Ridiculous value. 10/10

Totally agree with the statement of "the used car markets best kept secret" as for the price point you won't find better value for money. The entry level Porsche Boxter/Caymen are more expensive and I believe to be less specced out and luxurious. I bought a TTS Roadster back end of last year and I haven't looked back since!
And here I am just having traded in my TTS for a z4.... pros. If you opt for the coupe, you get a degree of practicality. I can tell you hands down which I prefer... and to top it off the bmw dealers are far far superior. Try and have AT LEAST an hours test drive... better still, a morning.
I agree my fav Audi. Love them I had a mark 1 225 in 2000 left hand drive ..looks good and drives good . I like the ttrs but the TTS is superb too I remember the old remarks a hair drivers car .. but I’ve seen hairdressers in Porsche’s and M3s I’ve said to many drive one then judge ...

There's a 3.2v6 dsg Mk2 in my garage, so fast it threatens my license everytime I take it out. So difficult to drive it normally like my Skoda. But the noise, oh my, the noise, it flows into the ears like angel song.

I had a MK II TTS for 6 years, bought for $59,000 CAD and sold 6 years later for $34,000. It was always a blast to drive with a super low driving position, it felt special. My current MK 7.5 Golf R is almost the performance equal of the MK III for $20,000 less albeit with a more boring design.
Ive owned a dakota yellow convertible for 3yrs and I have most 2 seater sports cars from lotus exige to Z3s, Z4s, porsche boxster, slk etc and this is by far the fastest and most favourite car. I am just swapping for a turbo blue TTRS.

My Mrs as this car !! Everytime she leaves the keys unaccompanied I'm out driving it .... It's absolutely awesome,, Beautiful car , it's flies like the wind , I drive a Volvo v40 d4 which is a nippy car ,, but climbing out of the Volvo into the TT is like getting into a racing car .. Great review Matt 👍 Anyone who wants a quick car with supercar acceleration BUY ONE !!
A car we both liked, and our view aligned with your review, opted for the Golf R after a lot of deliberation, practicality of carrying 4 in comfort, plus an oddity of road tax swinging the balance, something you did not mention the TTS being north of £500 per year for the first 5 years, the Golf being £150 with the same performance, I just find high road tax annoying. The TT still looks the part, a future classic for sure. PS do a review on your motorcycle when you get some dry weather.
Thanks Matt, great vid as always. I bought a TT from new just 9 months ago, best decision I ever made. Only thing I slightly regret was not getting the TTS - I just could not get over those awful fake vents from the recent face lift, which the TT was thankfully spared from.
My mum had the 2nd gen 3.2 v6 and we all loved it, the new one looks stunning! I’d definitely have one and laugh as I pass the old men making their jokes in their Kia seeds ceed’s. great review as always
Happy New Year to you, Matt. I'm not a fan of Audis, but I do like this car. It's purposeful, good looking, and well built. PS Speed Awareness Course? "Yes, I am aware of speed, especially when I put my foot down." Reminds me of something Clarkson said about the environment: "Oh, believe me, I'm very aware of the environment. And I'm still not interested in it."
Matt if you get one of these cars 🚗 don't forget me Iam your number one customer for this car I think they are great cars Thanks again for your informative video Kevin
Cool review, mate. I bought one a couple of years ago, and absolutely in love with it. If I had to sell it right now in order to buy a new one, I could only think of a real serious badass sports car...not an f -type, not a Cayman...probably something like an AMG GT. Fuckin' love my TTS.
Just a heads up with Audi Service Plan - it’s a fixed fee set by them. My leased A1 only did 5k per annum so had 1 service in 2 years (despite requesting a service in year 2!). When the car went back, I asked for unused balance only to be told is a payment plan and they don’t do refunds! So in short 1 x Oil/Filter & inspection service on a A1 1.4tfsi s-line cost me £380…
4 years ago i wanted a BMW M135i and got 1 and love it , the Audi TTS is next on my list im just not sure i can stretch to 20 odd K . Maybe a TT Sline quattro with a stage 1 map has been on my mind.
I test drove my first TTS today, my first Audi in fact. Brand new 2022 TTS. I found it to be a little monster. I found it to be grippy and nimble on turns, which blew my mind coming from a manual Eclipse Spyder GT. I was going through turns at 96-100 mph, in both Dynamic and Manual. I'd be dead in the Eclipse. I found the seats to be stiff though bolstered. And I found the ride to be a bit firm over bumps and cracks. I still liked the car a lot. So I wanted to see professional opinions. Your video nailed the highs and the minor niggles. Thank you. Will I buy it? At USD 62K, not counting a ridiculous 10k markup the dealer is asking, it's the same price as a Tesla Model 3 Performance. I drove a Tesla Standard Base model. While the Tesla is lightning fast, I didn't get the thrill I got from the TTS. So yes, I might.
I've had my TTS for just over a year now and have to say, it's astonishing at covering fast A and B roads. Fully agree with the 2nd screen comment although it's still a nice place to sit. Supersport seats are nice but the trim made of cheese and will fall apart (and Audi will want to pull your pants down to fix their design fault). The best enhancement you can make to the cabin is code out the soundaktor - the cabin then becomes a really nice place to sit all day! Edit: And ditch the standard tyres and get a set of Michelin PS4S on the rims!
I absolutely love our Audi TT Quattro... myself and my wife share it and it’s used almost every day as our only car ... doesn’t even cost that much to run!! As for the hairdresser jokes ... I’m a massive lump , been a infantryman in three wars and work in a very male dominated profession... so I take no notice . I do agree with the comments about the fwd SUVs taking over ... how dull

Good review - interested to see it as this was on new car shortlist a few months ago, really wanted to test drive one. I must have tried 4-5 different Audi dealerships and not a single one of them gave the tiniest shit about making that happen, never mind getting a sale - which would have been highly likely. Went back to BMW and got my second M240i. Dealers.
Love mine... got it in white... best car ive ever had!...... i am single though! I get your point about the interior and controls but to be honest this IS a drivers car not a car designed for passengers IMHO. I have actually lived with this now for a year and i really cant think of anything i dont like.... well ONE thing, when its raining hard the boot lid will drop lots of rain in your boot when you open it :P
Had a black Mk1 roadster - of all 20 or so cars I've owned, that one was the best/ most fun. Had it remapped and it was quick enough, plus the sub in the boot completed it :-) Great review, you're making me consider buying this!
Good to see you liking the TT, great car for those that sportiness but with predictable handing and a brilliant interior - I couldn't buy the Boxster after comparing the interiors). As a passenger I can see the display and fully operate it from the dial in-between the driver and passenger.
More exhaust roar please. When I too had a roarer I could cheer myself up no end by parking under the M62 where it intersects with Ripponden Road and let the engine sing; whatever my troubles were the crackle simply washed them away. So yea, more roar please Chief.
My brother in law had consecutive TT's for about 6 years a while back. I would have absolutely nothing good to say about them. Terrible experience. Why? Because I was only ever a passenger. Definitely one for the driver only I think
after the last TT video I went on Cars.com and found a white TTS with red,(!), interior coupe...it is a 2012...but I'm thinking now that maybe a hundred extra dollars a month would be worth it for the 2018 model...because horsepower...I don't need a new car TBH...but you've made me miss my old TT quattro...great video...like I said..it's like having a chat with a buddy watching these...thanks man.
I have been driving the previous generation TT for 10yrs as my daily driver and I can't bring myself to listen to my friends and not buy this one. It's that good of a car to live with!
As many 'car enthusiasts' have found out the hard way (usually in Subaru Imprezas), 4 wheel drive doesn't give more GRIP and allow you to safely ENTER a corner at higher speed. 4WD only provides extra TRACTION coming out of corners. Many a hedge has played host to high performance vehicles due to this minor misconception. 😁

I've had a TTRS for 3 years now, great car and I love it. It's got to go back next year and I've got no idea what Im gonna get that's gonna come even close to it
Love the colour, neighbour had one for a short while, it feels really quick. Also, that sound...
Not a real engine sound ;-)
I am a 2 year MK3 owner. I can comfirm i love the driver focus, and the lack of screens and other tech.
This generation of TT looks the best imo. And I’m with you on the interior, it does need a screen on the dash or an option for one for the passenger above the glove box like you’d see in a Ferrari I believe.
Just with a Speedo delete option ,controllable by the driver 😈
Brilliant cars aren't they
Brilliant mate I've done the same in my mk 3 tts it's funny to watch them in the car and when they get out 👹
I’ve had a 2015 mk3 TT S line Quattro since August last year.
Thanks for sharing!
"The rear seats are quite spacious if your a fetus"
My god I haven't laughed so much in a long time, took me by surprise.
Check other reviews. Really hilarious
yes the fetus comment is just brilliant, spat out coffee all over my screen
I literally had Kenco coming out my nose.
Surprised just how many can't spell foetus ,
@@rgwholt well done. You won the spelling contest. 😂😊😂
They’re great cars. I love them
Bought a Tango Red TTS 2 weeks ago coming from 2 mk1s. Absolutely love it. So fast. Haven't found the limit yet where it is even stretched in terms of speed or performance - just keeps asking for more. Ridiculous value. 10/10
How has it been longer term?
@@jakebendall8092 18 months in (give or take haven't done the maths!!) And loving it!! Everything is stock bar a mapping to stage 1 (but honestly, it's quick enough without). Only problem encountered mechanically was created and then resolved by the seller. Only issues are generic small things like Audi pricing if you are that way inclined and standard stuff like don't open the boot when it's been raining too quickly or some drops go into the boot etc.
@@steveburrage8832 sounds good, I'm glad you're enjoying the car as that's all that matters at the end of the day! Would you agree with Matt that it does around 25mpg urban and 30-40 on main roads if you're not thrashing it about? Still deliberating about getting one as insurance is quite high for a young driver 😄
@@jakebendall8092 if you can look past fuel consumption it is honestly an amazing car. I'd agree with 22-25 urban, but 40 is perhaps a touch out there (for my style of driving anyway!!). May sound like a cliche but when your driving and put your foot down, you forget all about petrol prices :) are you able to test drive one locally?
Totally agree with the statement of "the used car markets best kept secret" as for the price point you won't find better value for money. The entry level Porsche Boxter/Caymen are more expensive and I believe to be less specced out and luxurious. I bought a TTS Roadster back end of last year and I haven't looked back since!
I bid on a few before I got the boxster. I'll enjoy this one 🙂
Oo been debating whether to trade my E89 Z4 in for one of these. Perfect timing.
And here I am just having traded in my TTS for a z4....
pros. If you opt for the coupe, you get a degree of practicality.
It’s fast
It’s fun
Cons:
It eats tyres for breakfast
It’s thirsty
The exhaust drones and worst of all,
It’s a bloody hard ride.
Oh.... and the stereo is shite...
I can tell you hands down which I prefer... and to top it off the bmw dealers are far far superior.
Try and have AT LEAST an hours test drive... better still, a morning.
Very gay
So you’re coming out of the closet? Very brave and I support you.
@@davidhammond3738 Very helpful, thanks.
There are two people looking at TH-cam when they should be in bed. Your parents will confiscate your phones... now go to sleep children....
Had one of these and loved it, went back up to Scotland from Sth Yorkshire nearly every weekend and the journey was pure joy. It clung to the road like a scalextric. One of the best cars I've owned!
Perfect for that journey
There's a 3.2v6 dsg Mk2 in my garage, so fast it threatens my license everytime I take it out. So difficult to drive it normally like my Skoda. But the noise, oh my, the noise, it flows into the ears like angel song.
Sell it
Had one from new in floret silver sold it to buy an etron sportback launch edition TT was brilliant I’d buy another in a heartbeat excellent review by the way
I had a MK II TTS for 6 years, bought for $59,000 CAD and sold 6 years later for $34,000.
It was always a blast to drive with a super low driving position, it felt special.
My current MK 7.5 Golf R is almost the performance equal of the MK III for $20,000 less albeit with a more boring design.
I got a 2016 TTS on Monday past, it’s great I’m well happy with it.
Ive owned a dakota yellow convertible for 3yrs and I have most 2 seater sports cars from lotus exige to Z3s, Z4s, porsche boxster, slk etc and this is by far the fastest and most favourite car. I am just swapping for a turbo blue TTRS.
i have never ever seen a review about any car that has been reved so much :D which means that you really truly madly enjoyed it!!!We did too :) Nice one Matt!
Glad you enjoyed it! I know I did
My Mrs as this car !!
Everytime she leaves the keys unaccompanied I'm out driving it ....
It's absolutely awesome,,
Beautiful car , it's flies like the wind ,
I drive a Volvo v40 d4 which is a nippy car ,, but climbing out of the Volvo into the TT is like getting into a racing car ..
Great review Matt 👍
Anyone who wants a quick car with supercar acceleration BUY ONE !!
Couldn't agree more!
Great review. My TT is a lot older. Never let me down. Fast and refined. TT 3.2 v6.
Good choice!
Thanks for the TTS tour. Totally agree. Sold my TT 225 6 spd with 260K kms last year. It was fun, fast and a comparable drive to my bud's 996.
Nice colour and nice wheels, a handsome car and probably a really nice daily.
I had the TTS coupe 2019 edition for 2 weeks, fun to drive with little over 300HP.
Nice one mate, how did you have it for only 2 weeks?
A car we both liked, and our view aligned with your review, opted for the Golf R after a lot of deliberation, practicality of carrying 4 in comfort, plus an oddity of road tax swinging the balance, something you did not mention the TTS being north of £500 per year for the first 5 years, the Golf being £150 with the same performance, I just find high road tax annoying. The TT still looks the part, a future classic for sure. PS do a review on your motorcycle when you get some dry weather.
2009 model is amazing audi tt but mine is 450 bhp so it's crazy fast n great video man keeep up the great work
I just bought a red 2017 today. I was shocked how really good this car actually is. I really enjoyed this video.
Congrats on your purchase. They're great cars. Thanks for watching
How expensive are the parts/ maintenance? Im looking between this and a Lexus rc350.
What a great colour, I don't think I've ever seen one in that colour. This generation TTS is by far the best!
It really is!
Thanks Matt, great vid as always. I bought a TT from new just 9 months ago, best decision I ever made. Only thing I slightly regret was not getting the TTS - I just could not get over those awful fake vents from the recent face lift, which the TT was thankfully spared from.
The standard one is also very good. Plenty good enough in fact
Haha thats right. Happy New Year!
Matt if you get one of these cars 🚗 don't forget me Iam your number one customer for this car
I think they are great cars
Thanks again for your informative video
Kevin
Please Please PLEASE do a review with an Alfa Giulia if you can find one!! Would love to see you finally fall for an Alfa ;). Happy New Year!
I’d love too. And the stelvio
A future classic! Never dates. Built of granite. Quattro. 5 cylinder .. as you review, a superb bit of kit!
4 cylinder and this is not the TTRS.
Just bought me a TDI S Line Mk3 TT 👌💪 I’m very happy with it.
The TT is a great car. It will be my next purchase. My local dealer has one in Catalunya red and it really pops.
Cool review, mate. I bought one a couple of years ago, and absolutely in love with it. If I had to sell it right now in order to buy a new one, I could only think of a real serious badass sports car...not an f -type, not a Cayman...probably something like an AMG GT. Fuckin' love my TTS.
Good choice! I drive an AMG GTS :)
Audi TT Mark 3 my all time favourite.
Very TRUE.. Amazing well balanced small pocket GT with daily practicality!
Absolutely
Did you get the TTS in the end?
I've had my TTS for just over a year now and have to say, it's astonishing at covering fast A and B roads. Fully agree with the 2nd screen comment although it's still a nice place to sit. Supersport seats are nice but the trim made of cheese and will fall apart (and Audi will want to pull your pants down to fix their design fault). The best enhancement you can make to the cabin is code out the soundaktor - the cabin then becomes a really nice place to sit all day!
Edit: And ditch the standard tyres and get a set of Michelin PS4S on the rims!
Good advice
I absolutely love our Audi TT Quattro... myself and my wife share it and it’s used almost every day as our only car ... doesn’t even cost that much to run!!
As for the hairdresser jokes ... I’m a massive lump , been a infantryman in three wars and work in a very male dominated profession... so I take no notice .
I do agree with the comments about the fwd SUVs taking over ... how dull
Certainly put a smile on your face Matthew, impressive all rounder.
Another great vid, Matt. Would love to see you cover the Mk1 as well. To be fair, if you get a good one in I’ll come and buy it from you 👍
You need to write a book. All accurate descriptions “wolf in wolf’s clothing.” Mine is yellow, lowered suspension, the slightest red and orange hairline stripes, and a tint. Cheers.
Spot on review, don’t like flash sporty cars but flipping heck want one these !!!!!!!!!!!!
Poetry in motion. I like that thing. Had an 2006 A3 quattro some years ago. Darned good cars to drive.
Easy "Yes" answer there.
Definitely my best Car Reviewer on TH-cam !
Thanks!
300BHP isn't that much considering when Mitsubishi and Subaru's were making that and more power from 2.0T.
Always enjoy your videos pal 👍🏼
Evos and Subaru's where very fast cars ,so is this . Easily tune this to 380bhp for a cost of £500 . it will eat 99.9% of all cars on the road for breakfast .
@@ChrisBird1 Honestly not doubting it's tunability etc pal. I know they are solid engines are cars. Just referencing the fact decent power from 2.0 4pots has been done quite alot previously.
@@zaffarmir2577 I had a Subarau STI 12 years ago with the PPP. it was comically fast ,to have that type of performance in a refined thing like this would be amazing . Its amazing what they get out of these engines . I have a Seat Cupra at he moment and it pulls like a train . Cheers.
With a new exhaust and a tune I fell in love wirh mine all over again :)
That's a brilliant video Matt. Watching that and comparing it to my 2002 TT, it's incredible how much they've moved on. I really want one 👍
Already planning to get another TT I just love this car it will be on second ...I highly recommend a TT do my last was 2003 225 bhp, to this bad boy. Nice video thanks for your valued review, iam sold. Cheers.
I’m sure Auto Trader notice a spike in internet traffic shortly after you post each video 😉 Nice work as always.
I think it must. I would love to speak to them and see
Had a black Mk1 roadster - of all 20 or so cars I've owned, that one was the best/ most fun. Had it remapped and it was quick enough, plus the sub in the boot completed it :-)
Great review, you're making me consider buying this!
Good to see you liking the TT, great car for those that sportiness but with predictable handing and a brilliant interior - I couldn't buy the Boxster after comparing the interiors). As a passenger I can see the display and fully operate it from the dial in-between the driver and passenger.
That's true mate
I have a mrk 3 tts and the passenger can operate the stereo and the climate control if they want.
Great review Matt 👍....” a solicitor who goes to all the Millwall away games “ 😂👏👏
More exhaust roar please. When I too had a roarer I could cheer myself up no end by parking under the M62 where it intersects with Ripponden Road and let the engine sing; whatever my troubles were the crackle simply washed them away. So yea, more roar please Chief.
Haha noted
Just got myself a TT RS and it is a beast 😂. Good review, these cars are amazing fun.
They’re great cars. I love them
Always liked these, and that colour is lovely. As for the noise on upchanges😲.
I love the mk3 but would not part with my mk2 3.2. Simply superb. Great video. Thanks
My brother in law had consecutive TT's for about 6 years a while back. I would have absolutely nothing good to say about them. Terrible experience. Why? Because I was only ever a passenger. Definitely one for the driver only I think
I think it's not good for passengers above 10 years old... I have a TTS and two young kids and it's perfect but they are 6 and 4 ^^
Top vid again. Had a tt in 2004 sound car. That one looks mint. Have a safe new year 👍👍👍
Happy new year!
Smashing car Matt. Sounds like it's following the airline industry in it decline.
after the last TT video I went on Cars.com and found a white TTS with red,(!), interior coupe...it is a 2012...but I'm thinking now that maybe a hundred extra dollars a month would be worth it for the 2018 model...because horsepower...I don't need a new car TBH...but you've made me miss my old TT quattro...great video...like I said..it's like having a chat with a buddy watching these...thanks man.
I have been driving the previous generation TT for 10yrs as my daily driver and I can't bring myself to listen to my friends and not buy this one. It's that good of a car to live with!
They're great cars
Pax can write on the touch pad for navigation and media selection - great help
Also an audio control is on the pax side
Happy New year. To all And a big thank you to High peak Auto's
ive had mine for about 2months , loving it
As many 'car enthusiasts' have found out the hard way (usually in Subaru Imprezas), 4 wheel drive doesn't give more GRIP and allow you to safely ENTER a corner at higher speed. 4WD only provides extra TRACTION coming out of corners. Many a hedge has played host to high performance vehicles due to this minor misconception. 😁
Good point!
