Sorry for the late reply. Placement of an implant with an active infection is challenging and its more a case to case basis based on the amount of bone and the size of the infection, etc. If the infection can be completely cleaned, the bone is adequate and you can get primary stability (implant torque) then it may be possible to place the implant at time of removal. Have you had the treatment completed?

Implant removal can be easy or very hard and difficult. It depending on the implant design, osseo-integration, etc. Generally the simplest is it just unscrew the dental implant and graft however if the implant is fully osseous-intgated the only option is "trephine" or bone removal around the implant. It's challenging as some cases are simple and others so difficult. The bone and gum graft needs to over-build the area as there is anywhere shrinkage after 9 months of bone healing and this will help create the right size teeth - not big teeth to cover the recession. Hope this helps. X

It depends in whether the bone loss is EARLY or LATE. If EARLY - first 3-6 months - this is lack of "osseointegration" or lack of bone fusing to the implant - the implant must be removed ASAP to reduce further bone loss. If LATE bone loss - "peri-implantitis" or gradual bone loss around a dental implant- then removal depends on the patient, type of implant, where in the mouth, lengthen of the implant, how fast the bone loss is, is the patient considering another implants, etc. If the bone loss can be stabilised, and this is monitored closely then it can remain, or the bone loss limits future dental implant due to a lack of bone and is rapid, it should be removed. Late bone support vs. Removal is a case-to-case decision.
I have an overjet its not too big but its still really bad and its affecting My Speech and My appearance For such cases do i get corrective jaw surgery?
It depends on the cause of the overjet. Is it upper jaw over grown? Lower jaw underdevelopment? Upper teeth angled forward of the lower teeth? Lower teeth retrocline (tilting inward) under the lower teeth? This can all be tested with a Lateral Ceph x-ray and analysis and other facially landmarks. Corrective jaw surgery is only if the underlying issue is primarily JAW related and most is a combination of several issues. Hope this helps.
Hello, i got an implant a month ago, and yesterday i had to take it out because it got infected. The doctor put in a bone graft, after there was a blood clot around the area but a few hours later there was a gel like substance (around the size of an m&m) coming out of the area, im worried that the bone graft is coming out. Is it normal for that to happen? Second question is if a bone graft fails will that effect the natural teeth around it? Im booking an appointment with my dentist soon but that will take a few days and ive got very high anxiety so a reply would be greatly appreciated
Hi there. The bone graft is white and your description sounds like a blood clot. If a bone graft fails it may affect the teeth on either side if there is an infection so regular x-rays would be good. Sorry for the late reply as we have been closed for Christmas/New Year.
It can be early or late. This is a biological process and is determined by many factors - bone quality and quantity, oral hygiene, implant placement, connection of implant to abutment type, size of the implant, depth of the implant, general health, surface of the implant, etc. It's very multiple factorial. If the bone loss is after many years, this is generally called "periimplantitis" and is bacterial or heavy bite related. Hope this helps

@@kimw-es1er Generally after 2-4 weeks there should be no discomfort. However, the rate of healing varies from patient-to-patient. General health, infection before implant, immediate extraction, etc will have an impact on healing. If concerned pls contact the surgeon. Hope this helps. X
I am 24 years old now and have had a missing molar in my upper jaw for the past 4 years. I just feel I am too young for an implant. For how long can I wait for an implant until it is absolutely necessary to get one. As of now my nearby teeth are still and have not really shifted in the gap.
If there teeth have not shifted, the other big issues is the bone. The bone in the upper molar area with most likely shrink and due to the position of the sinus (just above this area), lead to possible difficulties placing the implant. Given it's been 4 years, most of this bone loss has already occurred. You can wait as long as you like however this may lead to a risk of not having enough bone for implant treatment or the need to graft bone or a "sinus lift" procedure to create more bone. IF you have a 3d bone scan (CBCT) completed the dentist can then advise you on the amount of bone, the position of the sinus and if you can wait. Take care and thanks for watching!
Jamie - it can... There are many types of bone grafting from block bone grafts to minor particulate grafts. It really depends on how much bone can be rebuilt and what effect bone and teeth will have on the overall appearance. This can we predicted this with a 3D printed trial of the new bone and teeth position and check with photos and videos. I hope this helps. X
Hi doctor , I’m 23 and from India .. in feb 2020 I met with an accident and lost my upset tooth central incisor teeth .. and after 6 months in September I had an implant for that teeth and my dentist also put temporary clown in that implant. After 3 months today I went for the consultation and he noticed there are movements in implant and checked and telling bone was not properly formed and telling I might have gave force or bite on the temporary clown now he removed the implant and inserted artificial bones .. what will be the next thing supposed to be sir .. I’m very confused and stressed about this .. pls reply asap
After a bone graft you will need to wait 9-12 months for the bone to reform in this area. Then an implant can be placed but no temporary - bury the implant and let it heal for 6+ months and then a new tooth can be placed. Once there is implant failure with bone loss we need to be more conservative with treatment and give the body more healing time. Temporary crowns or "immediate loading" is higher risk treatment over "delayed placement" and delayed placement is more predictable
I have major bone loss around my 3 implants (29, 30 & 31); however, the implants are still in my mouth as solid as ever and not loose at all. I don't have any pain around them either. I watch what I eat and try to eat mostly soft foods. I'm wondering if bone/tissue grafting at this stage could help improve the area around those implants so that they won't fail? I'm a 59 yr old female and have osteopenia, but I've gotten better about upping my vitamin/calcium intake.
Hi - Thanks for your questions. It's depends on why the bone has been lost around the implants - bacteria (peri-implantitis), over loading, food packing and difficult cleaning. Bone and tissue grafting is possible and there is a number of techniques including different bone substitutes. This may reduce more bone loss, and stabilise the area however if the reason for the loss is not reversed the risk will be that the bone and tissue graft will not take. If the bone is more than 50% of lost it may be best to consider new implants after removal and bone grafting. How old are the current implants?
@@julissamendezangeles - Don't be afraid of bone grafting. It's not painful. My oral surgeon drew blood from me before my oral surgery & while I was asleep they put the blood through a machine to separate it so they can get the platelet-rich plasma which is then used to put in the area where they want bone to regenerate. That way your body is less likely to reject it. The surgeon stitches up the area then you have to wait about 4-6 months to make sure there's enough bone for an implant. Easy!

The bone and gum graft needs to over-build the area as there is anywhere shrinkage after 9 months of bone healing and this will help create the right size teeth - not big teeth to cover the recession. Hope this helps. X
Research is saying dental implants have a 95 percent rate of success. Why are these people having so much trouble?
Dear Dr ... Is it possible to have bone loss without infection? My scan shows bone loss.. I feel oain when i touch the gum around the implant... But Dentist said that There is no infection no bleeding no redness ... How come This can happened?
mine said the same and now its getting really bad. I am getting a second opinion by very experienced and qualified periodontist who teaches implants at the university so I'll let you know if you want what the doctor says

@@davidchandler6885 hi David thanks a lot for replying me .. Are you going to remove your implant? How deep is your bone loss? Myy bone loss is not that much according to The dentist ... If an implant doesn’t have adequate bone support, must it be removed?
Do these problems appear often with cement retained crowns where some residual cement is left behind
I have an overjet its not too big but its still really bad and its affecting My Speech and My appearance
For such cases do i get corrective jaw surgery?
@@advanceddentalartistryperth Thank you for the reply. I went to my dentist and thankfully its all been fine x

When does bone loss start? How many years it will take to loss a bone?
It can be early or late. This is a biological process and is determined by many factors - bone quality and quantity, oral hygiene, implant placement, connection of implant to abutment type, size of the implant, depth of the implant, general health, surface of the implant, etc. It's very multiple factorial. If the bone loss is after many years, this is generally called "periimplantitis" and is bacterial or heavy bite related. Hope this helps
I'm concerned about implant screws from China that look like standard wood screw thread. They are listed as titanium but look like stainless . They say FDA approved but I found out many electrical items that have a CE approval stickers are not Certified but instead China claims it stands for China export !
Titanium is not expensive and available in plenty. FDA is a scam
Does it happen with snap in also?
I dont think they put a healing cap on mine. Its been over a month and the top part is still visible. My real question is is it safe to oil pull with the implant head screw head visible? Or can oil pulling daily make the implant post loose since oil lubricantes metal? I need answers. Please reply🙏😢
Oil Pulling is fine. The gum will seal around the healing cap. Keep you oral hygiene perfect, brush your tongue and keep plaque off the healing cap.
have you had some pain after you have your implant done? after 3 weeks , i can feel the pain sometimes and a haedache everyday.. is it normal?
@@kimw-es1er did you take you medication. I was prescribed pain medication but stopped taking it after the first 2 weeks or so because I didnt have any pain. I have like the abutment appointment in less than 2 weeks and final crown appointment 2 weeks later. You might want to call your dentist to check up on that
@@kimw-es1er Generally after 2-4 weeks there should be no discomfort.

I’m 24 also and I’m going to lose my front tooth. I thought I was the only young person with teeth issues. Sorry you have to go through this too.
Thank you!
Will bone grafting restore proper dimensions of my bone and gum under my nose area
I wore a partial for 9 years
Jamie - it can... X
Advanced Dental Artistry Thank you so soooooo much this gives me so much hope! Thank you! :)

Hi doctor ,
I’m 23 and from India .. in feb 2020 I met with an accident and lost my upset tooth central incisor teeth .. and after 6 months in September I had an implant for that teeth and my dentist also put temporary clown in that implant.
Hey Bro How Many Tooth U Lost ?
R u ok now?

Hi I aliso have bone loss but im so scare of bone grafting
@@julissamendezangeles - Don't be afraid of bone grafting. It's not painful. My oral surgeon drew blood from me before my oral surgery & while I was asleep they put the blood through a machine to separate it so they can get the platelet-rich plasma which is then used to put in the area where they want bone to regenerate. That way your body is less likely to reject it. The surgeon stitches up the area then you have to wait about 4-6 months to make sure there's enough bone for an implant. Easy!
@@MLMLW Thanks a lot for sharing your experience ... I am scared of This process , Honestly I just want This implant out but since it is osseointegrated ..seems to be dificult to removed without cutting par of my bone .. Thanks a lot

Everything he said sounded like .. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
that's why he had the big smile at the end
Seems like it’s all about the money for them. I recently got the all on 6 and just had one fail. I feel like another one is failing, but the dentist said I’m gonna have to redo everything ALL OVER AGAIN! There’s no way in hell I’m paying over $30k AGAIN. You’d think they’d help you out rather than just think about the money.
I hope someone will help you. I had missing teeth. It was so hard and I was embarrassed. Even though I have dentures not implants. We are all struggling with missing teeth. It is hard for most dentists to understand how hard it is. They have their own teeth. I just want everyone to be happy with their new smile as I am.
Hello!
I am 26 years old. Don't smoke. Brush twice a day and floss daily. I have had an implant fail twice in the same area.
My surgeon then told me he has no idea why this is happening since I am so healthy.
Any ideas as to what may be happening. I made an appointment to see a different surgeon
Hi Michael - any other medical conditions or contraindications like smoking?
I think you should get a bone graft.
