Until the ridiculous price of implants comes down, I'll use other options. There seems to be no more fillings or crowns; it's all extractions and implants. Dentists and Periodontists have quite a nice money making racket going; have lost faith in every one of them.

They are expensive. I have five spread out over 15 years. They are all still in and not having any problems. Cost is about as much as an old used car. So far I’ve had a good return on my money. The technology for analyzing the bone structure and the procedure has improved a lot over the years.

I wish I would've seen this video earlier. I just got a partial with one tooth. Dentist neglected to tell me that you were supposed to take it out before every meal. They told me to take it out at night and put it back in the next day. I called and told them it was difficult and painful to eat with and that's when they said it was only for cosmetic purposes and that I couldn't eat with it. I told them that some of us like to have lunch or dinner out with friends and I shouldn't have to pull my one tooth out for every meal, but they kept repeating how I couldn't eat with it in. Now I am looking at other options. I would suggest to everyone to make sure your dentist give you all of the facts before you waste your money like I did.

To think that the government in so many countries classifies dentistry as cosmetic and it is so sad. For me, It is more than cosmetic, it is our health in risk. Through a rotten tooth there are way to transport bacteria through our blood and damage our heart, it affect our psychologic and cause depression, affect in our chance of getting a good job, relationship, insecurity, pain and death. I lost my grandfather because of a inflamated tooth. He had sepsys and died, at a very young age . My father was orphan of father when he was only 4 yeas old, and when my father grow up he decided to remove all his teeth and place denture, he had the trauma of losing his father, it was 60 years ago. It is sad that so many people suffer in UK and around the world becouse of lack of dental care.

Sometimes it is not your option. Cigna would not pay for my wife's implant, they only pay for the least expensive option, which in her case was a removable bridge. We went ahead and did the implant for about $5,000 total, Cigna paid for the extraction $350 and $550 (50% of what a removable bridge would cost). Always get any work over $200 pre-authorized so you know what they will pay ahead of time.

Lots of DIY partial dentures available today that costs less than $15.... Realistic tooth resin set from Amazon costs $8 plus tooth repair beads $5 (mold it to act as your gums or a bridge) , they last for weeks depending on your tolerance to the beads turning yellow eventually, best of all you can eat with it...once you know the drill thru trial and error it takes less than 5 minutes for the whole process to finish, here in Canada I got quoted $1,200😢 for a single tooth this was why I discoverered and concocted my own DIY

I was missing my two that are between the Two Front and the Canines Since Birth. Original Dentist hooked me up with a Retainer to keep these apart and until I got old enough for Permanent Replacements. Got them when I was 16. A False Tooth ( one for each side ) Glued to Metal Wings and them Glued to the Front and Canines. Problem was, Didn't add enough Glue.... First one Popped out when I was in my Late 20's. No Dentist would glue it back in, since they were Not the Original Dentist.
Second One Fell around the first of this year, 2023 because it had Less Glue, So Food and Gunk got between It and my Tooth and Slowly over the years, Rotted My Front Tooth. So Now I am Missing that one also... And now I look like a Southern Inbred Missing my Front Teeth. Left to Right... Canine, Gone, Gone, Front, Gone, Canine... And only making 1300 a Month on Disability, I can't Afford a Dentist to Replace them...

Also. Look into a Care Credit card. They do long-term payments, but you MUST make a minimum payment monthly and have it paid off by the end.

What is it when the substance they use for a bone graft, instead of hardening like it’s supposed to, turns soft when they try to put the implant in after a six month period, but your bones are healthy?

    • @raveG244
      @raveG244 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The grafting material that is used does not harden in that sense, it is a mere scaffold so you can grow your own bone cells. Many aspects can affect how well this works . Exposure or partial exposure of the grafting site, for instance, can negatively impact the healing process. If that happens, the grafted area may stay soft because only gunky, fibrous stuff has developed. That material can be removed and after some healing you might be able to try again with a different approach--maybe using a membrane, a different growth factor (a substance that supports the growing of bone cells), etc.. You will not get an implant when there is not sufficient bone.

I have a fairly weird situation.
I had broken my two front teeth as a child. One was just chipped and it was fitted with a basic cap.
The other one, however, I had sheered the entire back of the tooth and exposed the nerve. For years I had a cap that covered the back to the tooth but after about seven years the nerve started to die. A root canal was performed and I was fitted with another cap over that.
Another seven years later, I was in Naval boot camp and the dentist decided I needed a replacement cap as the tooth was still decaying underneath. So, he fitted me with a temporary while my more permanent cap was being created. That temp fell out only hours later, so I went back and he added more adhesive. The next day they called me back to give me my permanent cap. While the dentist was attempting to remove the temporary he snapped off what was left of the natural tooth above the gumline! ACK!!
So, instead I was fitted with a Post/Crown to replace the missing part of that tooth.
For 30yrs I had this Post/Crown and it was great! Loved it!
Then, during Covid lockdowns, it simply fell out. No trauma, I wasn't hit in the mouth, I didn't eat a sticky caramel apple, it just slipped out.
Well, because it was during the lockdowns, I wasn't able to get to a dentist to have it recemented back in. Over time, the root shaft cracked and part of it fell out as well. So, now I know I can't just simply have the crown re-cemented back in place.
What's even more frustrating is I live paycheck to paycheck and a front, full crown is considered "cosmetic" by my dental insurance company!
    I'm devastated! I can't smile in public at all! I'm a wreck!
It's also been having an effect on my speech as well as my eating. I can't bite anything with my front teeth.
I do take care to constantly clean out the cavity but what should I do?

I asked Kriss and it said that if the tooth he lost are still his baby teeth, space maintainers might be recommended to keep the space open for the permanent tooth to come out properly. But I think it's still best if you consult with a pediatric dentist to discuss the best option for your son 🥺.

For a front tooth with an existing crown that popped off and the tooth broke off in the crown, would the resin bonded bridge be an acceptable temporary solution to let the grafted bone heal? Then in six months to a year when the implant is done and the new crown placed, the resin bonded bridge could be replaced with the implant/crown?

So I am missing the number 3 right, I had a soccer accident. Went to what was claimed to be a reasonably priced good dentist, and he quoted me the following to replace the one tooth:
      a. remove tiny bit of tooth still in gap: $500
      b. power clean right quadrant of mouth with ultrasound wand: $700
      c. prepare gap with screw to bone: $2k
      d. make and cement new crown: $2k
The dentist drove a mercedes and wore a rolex.
This is high way robbery…however wherever I go essentially the cost hovers around $5,500-$6,500
      Total $5,500 including tax
