You guys are awesome! You're also taking on quite the challenge. There are a lot of changes between the F2XC and the K20C1. For starters the turbo and intake will sit on opposite sides from where the S2000 normally has its intake and exhaust manifolds. Plus you have the dimensions, cooling, fuel, and who knows what else to figure out. Best of luck SOS. I'm rooting for you guys!
& btw like the guy said theres a bucket load of s2k owners in cali. If it could some how be smog legal/ca compliant i'd be all in. I'm pretty sure many CA owners would be on board with me.
What does the timeline look like for full installation kits being available? Have you thought up a solution to prevent track oil starvation with the engine mounted longitudinally? Thanks!
Probably because they figured it cost more then what it's worth. Or they're just letting their friends use it first to prove that the cost is worth it.
It's definitely something to think about, but for most tracks, we don't see this as being a problem. Taller final drive gears are available should it be.
We'll have pricing available further along the project's development. However, cost will be less than building an engine and adding a turbocharger system. Even less if you decide to sell the original engine.
Only looking for a ballpark answer. But when do you think or hope to have this available? Once again ballpark. Knowing time frames will change. Thank you for any reply.
Are you guys gonna figure out and offer DMV and CARB BAR referee approval, registration, paperwork, etc. for us CA folk that wanna keep it as a daily/streetcar?
Any plans on making another CARB certified kit for us losers here in California? My AP1 would love to have more power, but I’d have to track down something used that may not be in great shape.
Any new application will take a considerable amount of engineering beyond just the physical ability for the engine to fit in the engine bay. This would include issues like mounting the engine in the engine bay, transmission mating, engine coolant & charge cooling, etc.
are these going to be emissions compliant with the ecu being included? One of the main deterrents from going k swap was the fact it would not be odb2 emissions compliant.
Why wouldn't it be? Emission compliance is determined by the ecu ran in the swap... hondata, megasquirt, and a few others have obd2 protocol to allow you to pass emissions.
The S2K has such a narrow front end looking at it from the side. I'm willing to bet they will need to design a hood to go with the swap to clear the engine.
The k20c1 is not as good as the k20/k24 engines. The lack of vtech on the intake cam limits power and it does not have port and fuel injection like Toyota engines. The beehive valve springs float past 7000rpm which limits rpm. a stock WRX STI engine revs higher! I've studied this for 3 years. I have an article saved about the intake cam issues if you care to read. Pm me for the link.
If the total cost comes in below $10K, then it’s worth it. A modern Factory Honda turbo for track use is just what I need in my S2000. No more holding my breath for the F22 to let go and have to do a K24 swap. Please get this retrofit done!
The ultimate track engine package... are you going to address the transmission and differential too? As soon as you track this engine 2nd gear is going to explode from the torque lol
Lmao.. i daily drive my s2k everyday in california & your telling me it's only for track use? What a waste no reason in k20c1 swap just to tow my s2k to the track only -__-. & spending 18k in total just for 300 hp sounds ridiculous.
Its 10k for this motor alone. Labor, parts, misc you're looking at 15-18k? You're better off supercharging the f20/22. Also, k20c1 has no soul. Sounds like total sh*t. This I suppose is only viable if it's for a race car or race team. Definitely interesting.
Instead of making a better turbo/supercharger kit for the f series. You waste time and energy on bullshit swaps that cost to much and give worst results than the stock motor boosted. Only a crazy and stupid person will do all of this work and pay this much money. Funny your calling it plug and play... More like pay and pay 😂
The excitement is high! Can’t wait to see how you guys make it all work.
Wait. We have to make it work? 😅
@@ScienceofSpeedLLC Um yeahh!!! Been waiting months for the video
I’m taking on the challenge slowly but for sure I’ll get the swap done
This is so very awesome and I will be watching for more updates! Great idea guys and thank you for all that you do!!
Thank you Jason!
wow I cant wait! when I saw the K20C1 engine in the new Type R that was the first thing I thought of is putting it in my s2k!
This is exciting! Stoked to see how the program evolves!
Thanks David! Stay tuned!
sos has always been the best engineers for honda products
Might have to get myself an s2000 again for this!

Really excited to see this project unfold.
Anyone other then me want an update video?!
A new NSX supercharger and now this! SOS is going to take all of my money!!!
Looking forward to it. Original F22C shortblocks ain't cheap (just bought one in March 2020).
Nice works team SOS! I can't wait to see how this turns out.
When will we know more??
This is exciting to see! Although I can't help but wonder with the NSXs in the background how a K20C1 would feel in that chassis...
If you build it, they will come!
A 300/300 S2000 sounds amazing. Subscribed.
Uh, the K20C1 is a turbocharged engine.
Lol...
Ive been thinking about swaps for my high mileage s2000....i would love to do something like this!
$20,000

Any updates ?
Thank you. There is no K20 swap S2000 on TH-cam. Are all K24/k20 head swap.
Can’t wait to see this.
Superb and keep
It up 👍
Where did you get the Solidworks file?
What does the timeline look like for full installation kits being available?

More of this please!
Available manual transmission?
My EM1 needs a update
what about gearing options? Won't the stock transmission become to short because of the rev diference from the F20 to the K20c?
Hmm...interesting situation. I'm sure they'll figure something out.
It's definitely something to think about, but for most tracks, we don't see this as being a problem. Taller final drive gears are available should it be.
What Transmission can i use for a s2k or a car with a k20a engine ?
I wonder how much this package is going to cost installed and everything!?
More than it would cost to just buy another S2000
We'll have pricing available further along the project's development. However, cost will be less than building an engine and adding a turbocharger system. Even less if you decide to sell the original engine.
20,000ish all said and done?
will this fit an ae86?

Are you guys gonna figure out and offer DMV and CARB BAR referee approval, registration, paperwork, etc. for us CA folk that wanna keep it as a daily/streetcar?
We're sorry, but this is specifically intended for off-road racing use.
@@ScienceofSpeedLLC Oh, I see. That's unfortunate. There's a huge potential customer demographic for daily/street users though (esp in CA).
are you able to do this for an S2K that will only be street driven? or are there emissions concerns with that engine in an S2000?
Sorry, but this will be intended for track use only.
@@ScienceofSpeedLLC thanks for responding! I read further down in the comments and saw that. Oh well!
you can get around this by registering the vehicle in a state/county without any emissions requirements, typically rural and less woke lol
Any plans on making another CARB certified kit for us losers here in California? My AP1 would love to have more power, but I’d have to track down something used that may not be in great shape.
How much does the K20C1 actually weigh?
306 lbs
Very cool! Any way to raise the Redline to at least 8,000 though...
Yes. 4piston has cams for this. They even have an article written about it.
I can’t wait for this !!!
Hell yes!!! I'm excited!
Would this be able to go into the Honda prelude?
Any new application will take a considerable amount of engineering beyond just the physical ability for the engine to fit in the engine bay. This would include issues like mounting the engine in the engine bay, transmission mating, engine coolant & charge cooling, etc.

Yep. That engine is in there real cozy.
How timely shooting this in from of that CR. One just ended on BAT for $112k.

Bolt on supercharger on a stock S2000 or K20C1 motor swap?
Choices are great!
