Willem Defoe added so much humor and charm. He was needed. Albeit, if not only for a punch line. The soul sucker chick was unnecessary but it did give Betelgeuse more incentive for his actions. I think this sequel didn’t miss. Especially in a time of over-saturated garbage reboots, everyone can tell that this movie put in the effort to be exceptional and not just a sequel cash grab off of a beloved IP. I know in part this is due to the dedication of both Michael Keaton and Tim Burton. It was very well done and you never mentioned the STAND OUT performance of Catherine O’Hara. Every time she was on screen she brought “LOL” moments for the whole theater, akin to her performance in Schitt’s Creek. She was a gem to the comedy aspect, along with the aforementioned Willem Defoe. I love it, I’m glad it exists, im elated with the effort and love that went into it, and as much as I’m an advocate for new content and not just sequels and redos, I’m more than pumped for: BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE
I especially like what she stood up to netflix about not making Wednesday a lesbian...and saying women don't need to act like men in movies to be taken seriously.
There are actually a ton of high quality young actresses working today. Especially in the horror and indie scene and I don’t think it’s talked about enough

A lot of the time film makers say they want to do that but end up having to use CGI as it's [maybe surprisingly] cheaper and easier. The recent Alien: Romulus did use some practical effects.
@comacoz2438 yeah that's why even an film like Jurassic Park can hold up even more than 30 years because it's mostly practical effects, it's still so awe inspiring even after seeing it thousands of times
I had genuine positive hopes this movie was gonna be good. Glad I wasn't wrong based on your review and looking forward to see it in the cinemas. Thanks.

Loved this sequel the Best thing about it was NO WOKE FEMINIST OR LGBTQ FRIENDLY SHIT IN IT in the end THIS MOVIE WAS MADE FOR THE FANS THANKS TO KEATON AND TIM BURTON FOR NOT GOING WOKE AFTER 35 YEARS
Everything about this movie was perfect. I love the familiar vibe, atmosphere, and comedy. Everyone in the cast did great. Tim Burton’s direction was spot on. The references to old Italian cinema really made my day. And the little nostalgia baiting showing the down and the models of the first characters briefly was a great little touch. Also, fucking Bob! We all need homies like Bobs in our lives! The writing was funny too, I’m not sure if it was intentional or accidental but all of the references to the dad, and how brutal they actually killed him in the film. And lines like “he went out doing what he liked watching little birds” had me laughing tremendously throughout the film.
Ughh. It Was a mess, An utter mess.. To each their own but I absolutely didn't care for it last night... After I was anxious and excited. to see it.. I vaguely remember that feeling/and Outcome back in 2016 over a movie. Lol. I know, Many people are holding respect for michael keaton no matter how bad this movie was or is.
My wife and I liked it. The main problem I personally had with it was how some things were left unresolved (especially the cell phone scene (those who saw it will know what I’m talking about)) We also like that they didn’t hold back on the gross out humor. Most of all, we appreciated that there were still practical effects used rather than CGI for the most part.
I’m going to watch because it was filmed in my home state Vermont! And we don’t get a lot of cool stuff that happens here lol. It’s been like 20 years since I’ve watched the first movie but I remember really liking it.
You nailed it. Definitely watchable in the theater just to support Keaton. It felt like a Beetlejuice movie and that's way more than anyone could ask for. No messaging. Just love for the character and homage.
Michael Keaton is an Icon. Of course I'm going to enjoy seeing him as Beetlejuice once again are you kidding. I don't think John Q Public watches movies the same way critics do anyways. I'm going and I'll enjoy it, no alcohol needed.
I'm not seeing the movie for me. I'm seeing it for my mother cause neither of us like going to the theater alone. Not safety reasons. It makes me feel like Travis from Taxi Driver and it just makes her feel awkward.
Ehh. Not really anything out of the ordinary. People just continue to choose to ignore all the original content being released. Putting focus on IPs you’ve already heard of inflates the perception there’s nothing else.
This was the only review I watched before watching, and let me tell you: for Michael Keaton not being in the movie for very long, he sure feels like he was there the entire time. That's just great character usage right there.

Not true, terminator 2 and Aliens. I get that it’s not an exact continuation but Ridley returns in Aliens and Sarah/John are a continuation of Terminator.

Thank you! I think that's what made it so great. If they kept it simple it wouldn't stand on its own. They did a good job making it its own movie while still being connected to the first
@@brianlatronica7931reaching so hard to describe a badly written film
@adamferguson1513 not really lol. Most people would disagree with you. I've only heard a handful of people not like it. I think it's a badass film.
The effort to make sure Beetlejuice wasn't said a 3rd time makes this review epic & Awesometacular 👍🏾👌🏾
I can't believe I've never yelled "Yeah now it's a party!" when I get drunk XD
I don’t specifically recall saying that, but I’ve been drunk so many times, it’s undoubtedly popped out once or twice🤣
there's a first time for everything!
"All of his scenes will be on TH-cam eventually" should legit be a new rating, because there's so many movies out there where I've only watched some scenes on TH-cam and haven't felt the need to see the rest of the movie.
for me, its BVS that i do that with, only watching certain batman scenes.
@@ArtofLunatik for me it's the opening of the Bumblebee movie, just to see the war on Cybertron.
i pretty much watched the whole DP movie on YT lol .. i wasnt going to pay $20 to see mr.snipes 🥴
Most David Cronenberg movies are just like that.
I Rarely disagree with my favorite movie review channel ever.....but I politely and strongly disagree, this movie was amazing🎉
I likee it
Tim Burton & Michael Keaton, a match made in heaven.
Keaton returning as Batman was the best thing about the Flash movie. Good to seeing him back as characters he was so good in
*only good thing
Worth watching Flash just for Keaton
Keaton returning as Batman was the only reason I wanted to see it.
@@mysterion3182 same
I'll go further - Michael Keaton returning as Batman was the ONLY good thing about the Flash movie ;-)
0:10 They're saving it for the third one.
😂😂😂
That means he'll appear in theaters, lol. 😂
@@carloskreek7419 IT'S SHOWTIME!🤣
Shhhhh
Sure they are
Last time I was this early Beetlejuice was still in theaters
Just come back from seeing this movie and I'm glad I'm not the only one that has had a hard time trying to explain what the point of it was. Such a shame!
I didn't enjoy it. The story was all over the place and i thought it was crap
It was soooo badddd. Omg
Felt like it was rushed & kinda all over the place
Finally some honest reviews.
I bet one actor is not returning.....or allowed 100mtrs near 😅

No 💩. It's quite obvious Charles was dead in the first teaser.
Jeremy always comes through with honesty and sincerity.
Love that his ratings comments was just an extra little nod to remind us all there is no censoring or watering down Jeremy. 😊
Hearing Jeremy talk about fan edits and having watched them is so cool to hear!
Mae govannen! Thanks for the shoutout at 4:04
Yeah I watch M4 Hobbit once per year...along with my LOTR trilogy of course
i’m still gonna see this movie, i’m too excited for michael keaton as beetlejuice again lol
I'm bummed about this review, but the family and I are still gonna go this weekend with open minds!
Well you have your own mind, an not just be follower an go by some person's review!🤔🤷♂️
@jarellano1014 exactly. That's why I said that the fam and I will go in with open minds.
It's weird cuz it seemed like Jeremy liked it for the most part but then said it's better when you're drunk so idk. I'm watching it myself to have my own opinion.

You’re part of the problem. you shouldn’t see this crap. stay home and watch something good
Well i enjoyed it without alcohol so i would say it was a pretty good time no alcohol required.
I love it, I’m glad it exists, im elated with the effort and love that went into it, and as much as I’m an advocate for new content and not just sequels and redos, I’m more than pumped for:
BEETLEJUICE
BEETLEJUICE
BEETLEJUICE
not to sound too a--kissy but Jenna seems to be a higher quality actor compared to a lot of other younger ones these days.
Agreed
I especially like what she stood up to netflix about not making Wednesday a lesbian...and saying women don't need to act like men in movies to be taken seriously.
@@irishnessie That and she has been further standing against the woke garbage.
I would like to see here stretch her range a bit more though as Scream 5+6, Wednesday and this are all horror adjacent.
There are actually a ton of high quality young actresses working today. Especially in the horror and indie scene and I don’t think it’s talked about enough
Listen, I’m not going to a Tim Burton movie expecting to see legendary movie making/writing like “The Godfather” or “Citizen Cane”.
I’m going for a fun time where I can escape reality for a few hours & enjoy the zany world he’s created.
😂 buddy Tim aint the only one that does that the point is hes not in his prime and it’s 100$ to take your girl to the movies plus popcorn and imax
@@fabolousjada5070 WTF? $100? Where TF you going to the movies at? Tix are $14 a piece online, and popcorn & two drinks are like $18. That’s like 45-46 bucks.
His best movies were Big Fish and Big Eyes.
Now let’s get mars attacks 2! ACK ACK ACK
Heh. With all the big cast, it was the Martians that made that movie. ACK ACK!
hell yea
Mars Attacks Attacks!!
This had full opening credits. I cannot recall the last new movie I saw which did that.
Honestly gave me hope for the movie, only to be disappointed from then on 😢
I'm just going to watch this for the ride. I don't care if it's cohesive or has a reason to exist as a sequel. I just want to enjoy that world again.
Hollywood needs to get back to practical effects, they just create a whole different experience!
Thanks.
Did you like it? I absolutely loved it.
Man I love how you cut the crap and get straight to the point with these reviews.
Honestly helps me know if a movie is worth watching or not nowadays. Keep up the good work!

5:02 NEVER! 🤣😂
Beetlejuice 3 be like: Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beet--👀👀👀👀👀👀

🤣🤣🤣🤣
Beetlejuice³, like for Alien.
They better just name it Bettlejuice 3 lol 😅
I'm so hyped for this movie. I've been waiting 36 years for this movie!!!
I was thoroughly impressed. I like the cartoonism added in from THE cartoon. Cartoon Beetlejuice WAS my Beetlejuice. So i liked it quite a bit.
Loved the cartoon. They have it on Tubi right now actually, and was just watching it the other day.
This means they have to do a third film with his name 3 times. It would just make sense lol. Plus this sequel was so successful!
Very disappointed with the sequel
I agree, this sequel can't compare to the original give it a 6/10
4:06 props to Jeremy for the M4 Hobbit fan edit call out. I very much prefer this version (1 single 4 hour movie) over the theatrical Trilogy.
My favorite micheal Keaton scene is in spider man it when he taking spiderman and his daughter to the prom....
Bless
My wife and I liked it. The main problem I personally had with it was how some things were left unresolved (especially the cell phone scene (those who saw it will know what I’m talking about)) We also like that they didn’t hold back on the gross out humor. Most of all, we appreciated that there were still practical effects used rather than CGI for the most part.
HE MENTIONED THE HOBBIT EDIT YESSSSSSS
I liked the movie. It is a bit convoluted, but I love the world and the characters. I enjoyed it.
Thanks for the Hobbit M4 Edit tip. I was not aware of that one!
I just saw it with my wife and I’m so glad I didn’t watch the trailer.. the trailer spoils EVERYTHING- It was HILARIOUS. I LOVED IT.
Did Lydia not think about getting a different haircut in 36 years?
Michael & Catherine were absoluetely fantastic
I’m going to watch because it was filmed in my home state Vermont! And we don’t get a lot of cool stuff that happens here lol. It’s been like 20 years since I’ve watched the first movie but I remember really liking it.
I am a Vermonter and I visited the set with my brother it was 3 hours north and we loved having the opportunity
4:40 interesting target audience. not saying i'm a beetle but interesting
"Three times it must be spoken unbroken", you're safe:P
That was a fairly decent Beetlejuice voice at the beginning. Well done.
Oddly specific yet totally understandable
Begone bot!
Ha! Some of the my more enjoyable times at the movies have been solo. Less distractions. But to each their own. Cheers🎉

Allegory? Double edged sword? Modern writers don't know what that is
most modern critics don't either.
Love how you gave M4 a shout out. Didn’t know you were into fanedits ❤
Too many remakes and unnecessary sequel’s happening
Yep.
Ehh. Not really anything out of the ordinary. People just continue to choose to ignore all the original content being released. Putting focus on IPs you’ve already heard of inflates the perception there’s nothing else.
NOBODY does reviews as Good as JEREMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was the only review I watched before watching, and let me tell you: for Michael Keaton not being in the movie for very long, he sure feels like he was there the entire time. That's just great character usage right there.
M4 Hobit? Now I have to look that up... Thanks!
Not seen the old one thing I'll skip this one but gotta go see Longlegs cuz just yesterday was the premiere here in Romania
Michael Keaton was amazing. He actually improved over the 1988 version!. Solid 8 out of 10

Top Gun is literally the only legacy sequel that actually works and is better than the first.
Not true, terminator 2 and Aliens. I get that it’s not an exact continuation but Ridley returns in Aliens and Sarah/John are a continuation of Terminator.
Jenna Ortega is the new pale quirky lead woman in Tim Burton's movies since Helena Bonham Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer, Winona Ryder and Eva Green
Ironically, the movie gratuitously featuring Monica Bellucci just makes me want to see it more!!
It's a shame how little they use her
