Hopefully they make a refreshed version of the case with a little bit more wiggle room for a extra fan and easy fit for the smaller 4060 rtx and better material against heat :)
I recently built a Yocto & Yocto+ using the same motherboard, but for the Gigabyte RTX 4060 LP, I used the N3rdware dual Noctua 60mm x 25mm fans to replace the OEM 3-fan shroud and I was quite impressed with the cooling with the GPU temps maxing out at about 75C. If interested, I have those builds listing on Facebook on the SFF Mini-ITX channel and a couple more computer channels. Good and dense arrangement of parts, I like the design. Strict and minimalistic. The choice of CPU cooler is limited by height. There are rarely video graphics cards with a short metal part. Accordingly, the choice of a suitable video card is also very limited.
This would be my dream PC! Have you ever seen the low profile single slot GTX 1070? Can't find it for sale anywhere but it would be interesting to see you make a video about that if you can find it anywhere.
The thing is, with all cases on this channel that tried to utilize the Low Profile 4060, all were suboptimal because they completely block the airflow of this gpu. Having vertical fins on the heatsink, it pushes the air on two sides and it were always blocked in all cases featured here. However, there's one case that's actually MADE for the 4060 LP. It's the A24-v5. The panels are vented EXACTLY where they should, so the used warm the air of the gpu can leave the case instead of getting immediately blocked and trapped like here, and every other that was featured. For this reason, I think the A24-v5 is the best for the LP model (riserless, 70mm cpu cooling clearance, 3mm thick panels) and the Velka 3 is the winner for anyone having a single fan gpu.
@@devyn.johnstonThe riser is blocking it on the other side. Same with the Gemcase where the psu blocks it and with the HT5, it's the closed panel of the case itself. With the A24-v5, there's a vented line on the backside as well where the gpu exhausts, so that should result in even better temps at load scenarios and also could be layed horizontally like this one. It could prove to be a nice comparison and how sturdy it is, it's definitely up for travel. This video is great for mentioning how the i5 is more suitable for 40mm clearance - that's very useful for people getting inspired to tacke one of these compact cases. Keep up the good work:)
I'm sure applying an uv for the cpu and 4060 to help with the temps and tdp has crossed your mind. If we ever get a low profile 4060ti you could create quite the beastly box for sure. There's some embedded/nuc style boards worth looking over for future builds. Intel quit making nucs. But, they're still making oem boards. I've seen some nice embedded Ryzen 7000 boards. For full on desktop performance the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D (16c/32th) at 55w would be an absolute beast (albeit overkill) for these kinds of builds. V-cache on 6 and 8 core mobile would be ideal.
cool minimalist build thanks for sharing this is the first time I'm seeing a high end GPU that tiny! what would be so cool if this style case could either be milled out of a solid piece of aluminum or 3D metal printed. just a thought...
Awesome build congrats!!! The only potential problem i see here is long term for the PSU! If you're an intensive gamer, constantly pushing the limits, the PSU might die after some months or even earlier! At least 300-350W is mandatory for a system with these specs to be safe in the long term. Now, if you go APU like a 8700G which i think should be the purpose of these tiny builds, then a 200-250W PSU is more than enough :D and i'm probably building one next year with ZEn5 APU!
First video I have seen from you. On the Ryzen have you gone into the bios and set it to run in ECO mode before? Curious also then how the performance would stack against the intel chip. I know a lot of users run their Ryzen chips in ECO mode and say they only lose a bit of performance but the power draw and heat difference is pretty significant.
How about a mini pc build with passive cooling with thunderbolt4 or occulink. Giving users options for silent day to day tasks and gaming loud when needed.
Great content, but try pls with lower tdp hungry builds with this 250W fanless hdplex. It is recommended to use PSU at max 80 percent of its max power supplied. There are 7840HS buil-in mobos in the market with lower TDP.
the 250w is for output, given power supplies are about 80% efficient, you can assume that measuring at the wall that the unit is at max input at 120% rated output. On this unit its 300w.
About that PSU and melting plastics.. I got a secondhand HDPlex 250W off from a seller who told had it powering a 1050ti inside a Nintendo 8bit housing and it still has some mysterious red markings on its one side, matching really well in the Nintendo-red plastic :D On my system its been powering a 1070 for a year already in open air build, dissipating some heat into aluminium rack its zip-tied to, works well.
I love these small PCs. I thought I had a pretty small build with the IQUNIX ZX-1 case. My case is 9.2L case which could fit 2.5x of the Yocto case. I put a i7-14700 and ARC A770 in my case so maybe the thermals work out better for me. ANyway nice build and nice review.
For the money you save going with PIO you can have a custom aluminum case drawn up. I think Revocases might have some ideas. His TIPIO 1.9L case was the one I used for my 2.1L 4060 build. I just can't stand the wires and full size RAM when it starts getting near a really small case. Please at least look into a PIO like the JW or Zillion ThinITX PIO.
This Case is pretty nice. The power supply is working close to its maximum. I don't know if that's good. I don't think so. The big limitation is the small radiator on the CPU, which prevents the use of a better CPU like 14600kf
Perhaps some gold foil would help to dissipate the heat more evenly at the psu side, and would even fit the build (although its in the inside). Just a guess though.
What's limits is he pushing? He's not doing anything but assembling off the shelf components. You should check out Optimum Tech he actually engineers and builds stuff.
I love the look of tiny cases, but they're too loud in my experience. I left my Louqe Ghost S1 because of the poor thermals and loudness required to keep the CPU and GPU cooled and got a Fractal North. It is silent most of the time, and I have no regrets. That tiny case certainly looks nice though!
Fyi I have had no problem under-volting the 65w 7600. Negative -30 is no problem however I toned it down to-25 as temps were perfect in a Densium with zotac 4070. For when you want as much HP as you get in sub 5l. This build is clean AF btw. Hopefully they release a steel version.
I think you should try undervolting you GPUs in your builds. I think most sff builders are experienced enough to to this and it would add useful information
What are your thoughts about the Minisforum motherboards with built in Laptop CPUs? Would be interesting to see a mini ITX build with the 4060 with one of those like the AR900i which is a 24 core i9.
I wish more people advocated for being able to plug the GPU into the single PCB riser in a way the pci fingers can intrude into the motherboard IO. Asrock has boards like this right now, but there's no specific info why.
I'll sticky with my old Raven RVZ01B. It is almost 14 liters, but at least I can have the 7800X3D, 4080 Super in it and 16TB of Jellyfin media. But if I had lower requirements for a PC this would be a cool one.
So my only problem is you are starting with regular ITX instead of PIO ITX. Why? Well for starters I made a 2.1L PIO 4060 last year, you can look it up on small form factor forums. But PIO H610 were going for 73 bux on Ali Ex sale this year and they don't need power cables DC-DC, PICO PSU, or Riser cables for a start. Besides being cheaper and running directly off 19-20v they also use Laptop RAM modules, for significant space savings. My build comfortably runs a 12500t and a 4060 off of a 240w Alienware/Dell GaN power brick, which would easily fit inside if I wanted. (Many other GaN are possible, this is just the cheapest at 30 or less). It is not difficult at all to get a PIO motherboard nowadays. I also am working on a 3.2L build using an off-the-shelf case, which yes needs two cuts (you could make with tin snips), but it is under 35 US D. Cost is a factor, these builds can come in under 600 including all parts, NVMe storage and a new 4060 Low Profile.
I plan on travelling and I don’t want a laptop. This has better performance, better cooling, easier upgrades / expansion. I want it for gaming so I don’t need a display; I can just use a TV anywhere I stay. The game I want to play is also very demanding (Star Citizen) so a laptop isn’t really good for that.
motherboard manufacturers need to take a cue from laptops and position the ram and nvme ports so cases can just open a panel to change them out instead of disassembling everything. I think current board layouts suck. :/ ...positioning PCIE so you can use modules for controller cards and gpus would also be nice.
a mod they can do for the case is covering the sides of the holes with brass and having a lane of brass that runs all across the inner sides of the case. This way the case will act more like a heatsink and it will also look a bit mor cool in my opinion. It will obviously increase the price, but since in this niche is fine spending 150 bucks for a case then why don't have a 170/180 bucks case that has this truly valuable plus?
It's a beautiful case and I love going small but if I'm going small I'm not sacrificing my processor or my video card, at least not that much. I put a 4070 TI super in a Dan A4H20 and regret the fact that I didn't realize there was a 4080 super I could put in there. The biggest problem I have with this case is you're not going to put much of a processor in there with that small of a cooler nor get any serious video card in there. Still great for 1080p gaming though.
I also have the mini pc bugbuild. im searching for my latest build using the S400. Then i came across you. That build is super cool. I will have a go probably next year. Good video.

For this reason, I think the A24-v5 is the best for the LP model (riserless, 70mm cpu cooling clearance, 3mm thick panels) and the Velka 3 is the winner for anyone having a single fan gpu.
It has ventilation on the side and bottom of the gpu - imgur.com/V8PYrFo
Amazing build! Can I know the length of your custom cables?
10cm for the gpu, 20cm for the 24 pin, 30cm for the cpu. They’re available at n3rdware.com/accessories/custom-hdplex-cables
cool minimalist build thanks for sharing this is the first time I'm seeing a high end GPU that tiny! what would be so cool if this style case could either be milled out of a solid piece of aluminum or 3D metal printed. just a thought...
i hope you post the total expense too cause it's a drag too go all over the links just to see it's over your budget
That looks like a classy little case
Great content, but try pls with lower tdp hungry builds with this 250W fanless hdplex. It is recommended to use PSU at max 80 percent of its max power supplied. There are 7840HS buil-in mobos in the market with lower TDP.
Hey Devyn! For builds like these, it's recommended to undervolt both CPU and GPU, right? Was wondering if it was considered hehe.
the 250w is for output, given power supplies are about 80% efficient, you can assume that measuring at the wall that the unit is at max input at 120% rated output.
I sent you adoption papers. Bring the pc with you
I love these small PCs.
This in full metal with the gold accents would look sooo good
An actually proper looking HTPC
I built the velka 3, in a similar way to yours. With the addition off a 2.5" ssd that you can fit between the 1U PSU and the case.
Awesome build👍👍
Perhaps some gold foil would help to dissipate the heat more evenly at the psu side, and would even fit the build (although its in the inside). Just a guess though.
The best SFF PC channel hands down!
This man just keeps pushing SFF limits and I love it!
What's limits is he pushing? He's not doing anything but assembling off the shelf components.
You should check out Optimum Tech he actually engineers and builds stuff.
This is Awesome man I was gonna buy a laptop but I think in m just gonna build a small pc.
underrated youtuber
I’m still surprised you haven’t tried making a build with Optimums case
How much was this build
I think is less than 1k
What are your thoughts about the Minisforum motherboards with built in Laptop CPUs? Would be interesting to see a mini ITX build with the 4060 with one of those like the AR900i which is a 24 core i9.
Just get a laptop....
I wish more people advocated for being able to plug the GPU into the single PCB riser in a way the pci fingers can intrude into the motherboard IO. Asrock has boards like this right now, but there's no specific info why.
I thought I’d only be watching Optimum Tech with realistic SFF builds. Glad I found this channel :)
3:30 arent games consoles made out of plastic too? Or is 3D printed plastic really flimsy?
You can place heat resistant/reflecting tape on the inside of the chassis, around the PSU
I dont think insulating the PSU would be smart
did you just challenge optimum ? 😂
Even his video style and cinematography looks liks optimum’s😂
I believe that Optimum, Mr Matt Lee, and Devyn are all together.
Cost is a factor, these builds can come in under 600 including all parts, NVMe storage and a new 4060 Low Profile.
sick build!
Do a smallest 4070 Super next! With an AMD CPU please!
please no amd lol
You are a PRO. Thank you!
Little bugged I can't just buy the STL and print this myself, but pretty cool case.. most likely will be my living room HTPC setup
You getting me excited ❤
If you plan on travelling, just get yourself a LAPTOP, god damn it 😂
I plan on travelling and I don’t want a laptop. This has better performance, better cooling, easier upgrades / expansion. I want it for gaming so I don’t need a display; I can just use a TV anywhere I stay. The game I want to play is also very demanding (Star Citizen) so a laptop isn’t really good for that.
That's sick. For me to archive "small" gaming pc, I modded thinkstation p360 ultra with rtx 4060 low profile make it very small.
motherboard manufacturers need to take a cue from laptops and position the ram and nvme ports so cases can just open a panel to change them out instead of disassembling everything.
These series is my favorite since traveling alot w my pc sucks and now i just wanna know the best mini pc in terms of performance is
Amd 7xxx series boost until they hit 90c, if they can, you can change that in bios if you don't like it.
Still great for 1080p gaming though.
that's crazy, something even smaller than the Velka 3? Sign me up!
I also have the mini pc bugbuild. im searching for my latest build using the S400. Then i came across you. That build is super cool. I will have a go probably next year. Good video.
Assuming this is slightly bigger than optimums build but the plus side is you can buy everything without the need for a 3d printer etc.
they're the same size
