i kinda disagree about the bust thing, i agree with it being a realistic target though
like our entire org needs to be aiming for it, not just to get deep... saying that... our headcoach seems to be darn decent? we have some good weapons on offense that arent going anywhere, and our defense seems to be holding strong even with defensive coordinators changing. the team looks like we can be competitive for at leats the next 2/3 years. the whole thing about super or bust concepts are when you think your window is closing, or like what the rams did, you made INSANE contract deals to get that win but fall apart the next season
Since they’re paying their QB1 less than $1M, their Super Bowl window opened up for a couple more years.

Only unfortunate big injuries have kept the Niners from having a SB in the last few years. If no key players get hurt..they should get back into the SB as favourites. Purdy is just a good QB..he can do everything Shanahan wants and add on play extnding ability and their defence especially vs the run is special.
People who think the CowBoys dominated the Giants need to watch this game.The Niners kept the Steelers (who have more talent than NYG and a better HC) under 1 Yrd in 5 drives and scored 20 points within 4 possessions and went on to chill out for basically the whole 2nd half.
It wasn't even the turnovers or sacks ( though there was that as well) it was HOW they did it. It's hard to win in Pittsburgh let alone blowing them out in an opener in that fashion...just wow

Excellent points everywhere, the only thing I’d add is that the 49ers did it in clear weather conditions too. The cowboys played a team that sucks at passing in heavy rain. The weather played to their advantage imo
As a 49ers fan, I'm obviously very pleased with the result. Take away the TD before halftime, and the Steelers had absolutely nothing going for them. What satisfies me more than the win is Brock Purdy's performance. The Bay Area media was hounding him all summer. He had this meaningless line of "He has a 5% INT rate in practice," and the media treated it like a red flag. I knew it wasn't a big deal because it's practice and against a top 3 defense in the league, but the way Brock came out yesterday and balled out after having surgery, I'm pleased with the way he controlled everything.

The media is ridiculous. He had a higher interception rate last year during camp. And he was going against the 3rd string defense at that time.
That's why I only listen to David Lombardi when it comes to the niners. He only comes with the facts and doesn't let any personal bias interfere in his reporting

I've been saying all offseason that the 49ers have built an absolute death star of a team. Barring any major injuries this team will go down as one of the greatest teams in the history of the NFL. They have zero holes, with all pros all over the field. They have the very best offense and defense in the entire league. They are absolutely loaded at every level, and it is going to take a herculean effort for any team to beat them. If there was ever a team with the possibility of an undefeated season it's this team. They are going to be a nightmare for the rest of the league.
I feel this is our year we been knocking on the door really last 4 years this our year to take it and finish the deal we have the team assembled to do it also with a trustworthy QB purdy is our guy of the future his record speaks for itself

Brock Purdy looks more like Tom Brady than Peyton Manning in the pocket. Peyton always looked frantic with his feet. Obviously he wasn’t but Purdy looks way smoother. Purdy is Joe Montana reincarnate.

As a Niner fan...health is wealth if that happens it doesn't matter who they play I think they can beat anybody.
Right now the niners look like they can beat any team in the league. Getting to the super bowl is going to be a matter of keeping everyone healthy as the season goes on (a feat they have yet to accomplish). The only team that can stop the niners from winning it all this year is themselves

I moved to the bay area in 1979 and loved what the old 49ers did. I have waited for a new Niner team ever since then, with a QB that would make Joe Montana of Steve Young proud. Well now it seems there is one. I am so happy Brock Purdy recovered so well from his undeserved injury last season. I wish the 49ers the very best this year. Today is 9-17-23.(Sun) I hope they kick ass again in the game coming up today. Then keep rolling through the year until they win another Super Bowl at the end like they deserve to. I am proud to still be a fan of the 49ers. Go team GO !

Niners gotta get better blocking at the right side. Thats what did Purdy in during the NFC championship game, even though it was a freak injury. TJ Watt was definitely getting his in this game. But SF looks like they're picking up right where they left off.

As much as the locker room liked Jimmy G, they love Brock Purdy. He extends plays more readily, reads deep to short and has no fear throwing downfield. Plus, Shanahan trusts him which means the restrictor plate comes off the offense. That wasn't the case with Jimmy.
Their d line has at least 3 pro bowlers on it with Bosa, Hargrave and Armstead. Drake Jackson is no slouch either, clearly. 2 all pros at linebacker and another all pro at safety.. it’s a stacked defense

I had optimism for my Steelers because of how we played last year, but that doesn't look like the case so far. I know the 49ers are the best NFC team, but Canada offense and Kenny's play was terrible yesterday. I'm not upset with the defense performance, that is because of how much they were forced to be on the field without a break. The only defensive player I'm somewhat upset with is Pat P because of him talking the talk, but not walking the walk. Hoping this game was a fluck, otherwise this is going to be a long season.

49ers have a lot of room for improvement. The first glaring weakness is that right tackle. I’m not sure how high they reach but we will never know if that RT keeps killing plays
They have 41.5 million in cap space right now which is insane! They will address RT at the trade deadline with an All Pro

What are you talking about the 49ers have been famously slow starters. They have had losing records over the first half of the season the last two years in a row. The QB position has always been the achilles hill and that was solved and it unlocks the rest of the team. There is no team who will be able to handle them.
