The thing is objectively it's far easier to win a gold medal for basketball for the US than a championship. There's been like 3 other countries I think that have won an Olympic gold since like the 70s, one being the USSR which isn't even a country anymore and the other being Argentina. Imagine if they had Kevin Love instead of Chris Bosh to SA's point. Kevin Love wouldn't need to develop that jumpshot because he already had it down pack, and he was the best rebounder during his time of greatness as the #1 option with the TWolves. I think there is a slight possibility they would have won 3 rings instead of two if Lebron and D Wade had him instead of Chris Bosh.
Its easy to say that, but you have to acknowledge the fact there defense would slip because bosh was way more versatile and can switch and guard multiple positions while Kevin love was horrible, bad pick and roll defender, can’t move laterally, and can’t guard in space.
@abtocool6350 I can agree with you on that. Bosh wasn't the best rim protector they had, but he was very important for them winning a championship. Honestly, he is also my favorite Power Forward of all time, but I was mainly focused on their offensive fire power because they were already good defensively. They just wasn't top tier defensively when it mattered because they often went small ball. Also, I think if they got Melo, they would have 3 rings easily because of Melo on the offensive end and his WILLINGNESS to play defense when it matters. Kevin Love would have the same mindset as Melo, equating to them winning 3 rings. I also think Kevin Love and Chris Bosh are equals when it comes to where they rank in star power, the only difference is, Kevin Love was an overall better shooter and rebounder. Chris Bosh has more heart, and it shows because his performance level elevates to Superstar when he gets the boost from him having the heart of a soldier on the basketball court, so I think that's why I would give Chris Bosh the edge over who's the better overall player. Also, Chris Bosh does play way better defense. Sidenote: I like the way you made your valid point. I respect your opinion my guy 💯👍🏾💪🏾.
Melo is bitter about too many things. Bitter about his #15 in Denver even though he wasn’t wearing it after, bitter about no titles, bitter about all his own career decisions basically. I actually respect and understand the pettiness of athletes and their competitive pride. But Melo just mad about everything he did to himself.
Because Jokic plays the right way and makes teammates better. Carmelo has always been a ball stopping scorer who is more worried about getting his points and money then he is about winning
Now People I think that Melo is a great player in the NBA and I think in his early career he could’ve won an championship but to say winning a gold metal than win a NBA championship that’s a bunch of nonsense and you been in the league 19years and haven’t won a title and never been to a NBA finals I can’t figure it out.
Winning an NBA championship is the hardest to win than the Olympics. You have to play 80+ games to become one. Olympics, you have the best players in the world and only play less than 10 games.
If melo played for Cameroon like a joel embiid was suppose and won 3 gold medals 🏅 what he says would make sense but winning gold is pretty much guaranteed if you can make the team
Little does he know, there are more Americans that have won Olympic medals (2793) than players from all countries combined who have won NBA championships (1125). Americans have won 1117 gold medals, to be specific. Some players have won multiple NBA championships. So whichever way you look at it, it is easier to get a gold medal, or any other medal, than to win an NBA championship. Indeed, the NBA is more difficult to win than the Olympics.
This is completely subjective who am I say what's better if I don't have neither? Let's hear what Lebron,Curry,Durant,Tatum, etc has to say about this then we can Maybe chime in.
Steven A. Smith said "how would he know? he does not have a championship". But Steven A. made a career and made millions of dollars talking about something he is not part of: SPORTS. Carmelo didn't say he didn't want to win a championship. Carmelo basically said anybody can win a championship because of circumstances. Robert Horry has 7 championships and Iverson has zero because of circumstances. However, to win a gold medal with the USA might be easy but in order to be on that team you have to be really good and for example, Robert Horry with his 7 championships could never be on a USA team.
I get what he's saying; in the Olympics everyone on the team has to be elite. It's not the same as winning an NBA championship where you can have horrible players and still win a title. You're literally playing against the best another country has to offer, it's not the same.
Stephen A and my guy Shay you too are dead wrong! A gold medal has more value it’s the world, it’s international and it’s a contribution to the greatness of America! Winning a gold medal is like fighting and winning a war for your country. A NBA championship is just your city or your state that’s it. Lebron won four titles 2 for Miami, 1 for Cleveland and another one for LA, he didn’t win for Dallas or DC and not for the USA, but he won three gold medals for the US there is a big difference! Those journalists need to educate themselves. Carmelo is 100% right!
End of video, Shannon says Melo gets more respect for college champion/MVP than for 4 Olympic medals! NOT NECESSARILY! Melo was a MONSTER in Olympics play!
NBA title is for the United States, winning gold is for the world. You can’t be just anybody playing for Team USA. A nba ring comes around every year, a gold medal comes around every 4 years. Carmelo Anthony has a point, everybody has different opinions.
I love new media and the ability for athletes to speak their mind and use their voice The issue is with this is giving the platform to players who are most likely idiots and just say dumb stuff and also don’t know what the hell they’re talking about (e.g. Gilbert Arenas)

He can feel how he wanna feel. Buy never even making it to a finals? He can't even compare the 2. Then like Shannon said he went ring chasing at the end to get one. I gotta call CAP on Melo
You’re allowed to THINK he’s deluding himself bro. Chill out
Nobody cares what it means to HIM cause he never won a ring let alone never even played in an NBA finals
Melo missed a perfect opportunity to get a bag of chips in Miami 👋😩👉✨🍟✨
No. How would you know SAS? As if you’ve won an NBA championship or a Good medal. People always trying to think and speak for someone else. Let Melo have his stance and it be that.
Exactly

@antno_2064 you out here on every comment like PREACH BRO
shut up man lol. Yall got the dumbest take here. I don't have to win either to know which holds more value. That's so stupid
If the man said those medals mean more to him, then they mean more to him. He don’t say he wouldn’t want to win a ring.
Carmelo, come back and pass Shaq on the alltime point list
He should come back for one more run to win a ring
Let's be honest Kobe Bryant actually said the exact same thing. "I think winning a gold medal is more important because you're playing for your country," Bryant said while training with the U.S. Olympic Men's Basketball Team in Las Vegas (go watch the redeem team documentary)
But Kobe also had championships at that point of his career. If Kobe didn't have any chips he would've have said something different for sure
He got asked would HE trade his all his medals for NBA championship. We taking this way out of context
I mean he nver won an NBA championship, thats the safe answer is to take what you only have. If he has an NBA championship atleast 1 people will not laugh at his opinion, but then again that's his opinion.
Carmelo seems like a good guy, but he's wildly overrated as a player. All he did was score: he didn't play defense, he didn't pass, he didn't make his teammates better. He was a volume shooter, and that's it. Those kinds of players almost never win championships.
In the next 5 olympics, you will think how Melo think..
Bet Americans are about to have a rude awakening
It’s about to get a whole lot harder for Americans going forward
@@Griemmy nah gold medals are great but leading your team to an NBA championship as the main option has always been at the top of the list in rating greatness for a player
Yep. It doesn't mean anything now, because Americans take it for granted.
It might get harder now but when Melo played it wasn’t even a challenge. It’s the same reason why bill Russell isn’t the goat

You win a NBA title for your (City). You win a Gold medal for your (Country). It's not rocket science folks. They teach you this stuff in 6 grade.
Dat part 💯
Yea but winning NBA championship is what solidifies HOF career. And good bulk of ppl will think of winning that than the Olympics. His case is his best friends have that ring when he doesnt. That is the only thing that separates him from Wade and Bron. So if he had a ring idk if he would have the same ideology
The thing is objectively it's far easier to win a gold medal for basketball for the US than a championship. There's been like 3 other countries I think that have won an Olympic gold since like the 70s, one being the USSR which isn't even a country anymore and the other being Argentina. Other than that there is a VERY good chance we'll never see another country win gold for most of our lifetimes
@@Sqeaky6969 I mean as of now I think France got it in the bag next one. I don’t see US winning unless Tatum and brown play. But if I were them I wouldn’t
@@hiimdre321 yeah but that's going forward, for the most part the US team has always been far more talented than opposing teams even when we were sending college kids against pros. There's still a chance the US team rolls in 2028 cus just like this year good teams like Germany and France end up being in the same bracket and end up knocking each other out
Imagine if they had Kevin Love instead of Chris Bosh to SA's point.
U gotta luv the chemistry “NO” lololol

SAS doesn’t even have a ring!!!!!
Carmelo don't have a ring either
Melo is bitter about too many things. Bitter about his #15 in Denver even though he wasn’t wearing it after, bitter about no titles, bitter about all his own career decisions basically. I actually respect and understand the pettiness of athletes and their competitive pride. But Melo just mad about everything he did to himself.
Jokic said he doesn’t care about nba or championship and he’s praised for it
Because Jokic plays the right way and makes teammates better.
“Not everybody wins a medal” as opposed to an nba ring? Why doesn’t he have both if it’s harder to win a medal? This is what the kids call “cope”
Winning an NBA championship is the hardest to win than the Olympics. You have to play 80+ games to become one. Olympics, you have the best players in the world and only play less than 10 games.
Everyone in the nba has an opportunity to win a ring. Everyone doesn’t have an opportunity to win a gold medal.
And which is harder for an American NBA player to do? Win a gold medal or win a NBA championship?
@@Christo_Trismegistus a gold medal lol
If melo played for Cameroon like a joel embiid was suppose and won 3 gold medals 🏅 what he says would make sense but winning gold is pretty much guaranteed if you can make the team
@@And1one757 it wasn't guaranteed. if Steph wasn't on the team, the US probably doesn't even medal...
Having 2 men who have/will never have the chance to win either give their opinion is nuts.
Shannon Sharpe won 3 Super Bowls. Two with Denver, and one with Baltimore.
@@allendaniel7405And how many gold medals?? Any medals?
@@achyld21 I know. I remember when Shannon struggled with the Olympic football team.. Huh? Football isn't an olympic sport? My bad.
Carmelo is a loser
I ain't mad at Melo. He's just accepting what it is. Idk why ppl so mad at his opinion and perspective. But it is what it is.
I already watched Shannon talk about this with Ocho so I already knew what he was gonna say lol
Shannon in a Secret Labs chair 😂
Perfect
ESPN will talk about anything for content sake. Melo never said that an NBA championship didn't matter. Yet this is the angle they're taking smh.
Come back Carmelo, overtake Shaq on the all-time point chart.
How y’all gone tell Him what *He* feels what’s more valuable to him 🙄
I wouldn't use that argument, Stephen A....coming from a guy that analyzes the NBA and has never played in one game. How would you know?
I made fb post in 2009 saying melo will be like Barkley by the end of his career… 15 years later I was right
Stephen A and my guy Shay you too are dead wrong!
The media is trash because the man answered a question. It doesn’t mean he wouldn’t like to win a championship 🤷🏾♂️
Shannon gotta stop questioning if ppl believe what they’re saying, he’s a grown man & he said it twice
End of video, Shannon says Melo gets more respect for college champion/MVP than for 4 Olympic medals! NOT NECESSARILY! Melo was a MONSTER in Olympics play!
Stephen A doesn't have the perspective either. To Carmelo's point there are more people with NBA Titles than basketball players with gold medals.
Carmelo also addressed teaming up with LJs and Wade. He said he would rather have his own team instead of selling out for a ring.
“There is something missing!” Sas
“It’s easy to say what Carmelo is saying win its your only option!” Shay
Melo just saying that .. bro not everyone wins an NBA title either. This the reason why Melo never impressed me 🤷🏽♂️
“How would you know” is insane 😂
Classic US BS. NBA is not a world championship. Get your head out your a$$. Being an Olympic champion means waaaaaaaay more
NBA title is for the United States, winning gold is for the world. You can’t be just anybody playing for Team USA. A nba ring comes around every year, a gold medal comes around every 4 years. Carmelo Anthony has a point, everybody has different opinions.
I love new media and the ability for athletes to speak their mind and use their voice
The issue is with this is giving the platform to players who are most likely idiots and just say dumb stuff and also don’t know what the hell they’re talking about (e.g. Gilbert Arenas)
The question is if Detroit would have won a championship with Melo. lol
Shannon is an absolute master at this… god dayum. I loved how the two worked together on this segment even though they agreed. They brought slightly different perspectives.
It much more difficult to win an NBA championship than win gold as team USA. But if it makes you feel good…okay
8:05
Shannon almost said “cmon skip”🤣🤣🤣
But fixed it to Cmon Stephen A
Maybe if he made this comment before winning any gold medal ok but it’s easy to say it after the fact.
I add with melo you gotta be the best of the best to even play in the Olympics and then you playing the best of the best in the whole world country vs country I’ll take that over a ring
