Cant call Purdy overrated when the guy was the last pick of the draft and has to prove himself still!! Haters are just mad that hes this good.

Didn’t Purdy practice against SF 1st defense before getting called into the Miami game once Jimmy was injured?
so there are some mixed reports on that, he was the qb of the practice squad. which means he throws against the defense during the week, and depending on who they are playing, its his job to throw certain plays, so the defense can see what those routes look like. There was a post game interview that made it seem like he LEARNED to read defenses while doing this, but some moron journalists re-analyzed the statement to make it seem like he's been playing against the Niners D. which isn't really accurate. I could be wrong, and maybe he got to have a lot more realistic plays agaisnt the Defense, but as far as I understood the quote, and Bosa's response, Purdy was a pitching machine with front row seats to how defenders react.

Aside from the acquisition of CMC, all Kyle needed was a dual threat QB to take his offense to the next level, and with Brock n Trey the opportunity is definitely there 🔥

People don't realize Matt Campbell and Iowa States offense isn't far off from Kyle's in San Fran. Brock did pretty damn well in Iowa State and had Breece Hall behind him in the backfield. So not surprising to see him flourish in Kyle's offense with CMC.

Tom Manning (former OC for ISU) was pretty cheeks so Shanahan's system is definitely far superior. But Manning did have a "pro style" offense which I'm sure helped Brock's development. Brock was definitely asked to do a lot more at ISU compared to now as far as making plays on his own but that's not a knock on him now. He's running Shanahan's system like a charm and that's all you can ask for. Anything extra (e.g. making plays with his legs) is just the icing on the cake.

I do like the fact that Purdy's success does kind of throws questions on the draft 'experts' evaluation process and I hope he's not getting a bighead from all the press hype and tries to do too much. That often seems to end up with a player digging themselves into a hole during a game.
Plus Zach Wilson being drafted at #2 despite being practice squad caliber. It all really raises some questions.
So many high draft pick QB’s don’t pan out. It’s crazy how many QB’s get drafted and end up as backups or out of the league.
They use their stats in college to help evaluate. There are a lot of players that were studs in college but couldn’t adjust to the speed of pro games
@@kennyfnpowers707 Then they should attempt to expand their methods and look at how their performance on film would translate to an NFL game. For example, Zach Wilson had great stats but just threw deep balls to open receivers; he didn't have to make many reads.

and others, who didn't go to big program, who do "good QB things" but aren't flashy, are going to get a lot of looks this draft.
What are "good QB things"?
- accuracy over 60%
- get rid of the ball in less than 3 seconds
- are mobile "enough" (this doesn't really matter tbh)
- have a great TD/INT ratio
- did it all at smaller schools who don't have 5 star O - line and WRs
their film will show if they are able to make NFL throws (good touch / tight window), and maybe they're not day 1 starters, but they're going to be a lot better NFL backups in the future because of Purdy.
Niners are hot but now any game anything can happen, all the teams left are good. Im a niners fan but All teams are pretty darn close at this point. No more blowouts for the niners i can see them winning by 3 to 6 points

@Gabe Angel Its Hurts for me. Incredible athlete and has done really well. But without him, that team can't compete. Minshew is not a bad backup but he ain't Hurts. The Eagles are built on Hurts extending the play. The Colts, as terrible as they are, did really well shutting him down for most of the game.

I think they are. The 49ers all around are pretty much a complete team.
Rookie QB drafted last played against mediocre teams including Seattle though excelling well we will see against a real pass rush but he is still a weakness.
Only thing that makes me nervous is the secondary. Having a healthy Emmanuel Moseley would be fantastic right about now
Well 9ers won last yr against the same Dallas team with terrible jimmy and no cmc or charvarius ward.

9ers have always been about running and playing D. Jimmy would give it away twice a game and never maximized these great players rd him. He was being carried and they still won.

When I saw Purdy in pre season highlights I checked out his college highlights because I had never heard of him...I came away hoping he would get a chance to play because he looked like a good quarterback and a winner who never gives up.
He was a nightmare every year to play against, especially with Breece Hall in the backfield.
Somewhere out there, a scout has been saying "I TOLD YOU SO!" for a month straight.

@Tom Smith my Bengals have lost a starting o-linemen in each of the last three games, and the line was average with the starters. If Burrow has time we can win any game. Guess we will see what happens
Offenses are equally loaded with playmakers, defenses are actually pretty similar too, stats wise the niners won a lot of categories but they also had a weaker schedule, so it would be interesting to see a grudge match SB. I think if that happens Burrow is the difference.

There was this commentator who made a great point. He said that the 49ers are absolutely loaded with offensive weapons, to an absurd degree. The one thing that was holding it back was the QB, but when Brock Purdy stepped in, it became a Happy Gilmore "uh oh, Happy learned how to putt" situation. With all of those weapons, you're telling us that now they also have a QB who can seriously slang that rock? It becomes a situation where the only way you can beat them is if they beat themselves. If any team in the league meets them and both teams play well, the 49ers win, and win easily. You have to play a perfect game and hope they make mistakes to beat them. They are as close to unbeatable as exists in the NFL today, which is why they haven't lost in three months.

“Defense wins championships” is misleading. Most Super Bowl champions had a top 10 defense AND a top 10 offense. The only championship team I can think of that didn’t fit this mold was the 2000 Ravens who were best in the NFL in point allowed and second in yards allowed. They had an average, middle-of-the-pack offense.

It’s pretty clear that the 49ers are the best team in the league at the moment. But none of that matters! Because anyone can win on any given Sunday!
That said, I’m a diehard 49ers fan and the cowboys and Eagles going to get Molly Whopped and the Super Bowl going to be a tough ass game but the 49ers will win the Super Bowl against KC
They certainly look like it, but I am not counting that roster out in Philadelphia at home.
Sf is the best team top to bottom..and I'm a Rams fan. They don't even need Purdy to be spectacular. They are blue collar and built to grind. I think they win it all.

I see some people playing down their system, but I think those people don’t fully appreciate how good Shanahan really is and what a great job Lynch has done in getting the right players for their system.

Ironically the 49ers weakness is their defense, particularly their secondary. Yes they’re the #1 ranked defense but just look who they’ve played. Very few decent offenses, and against a contending offense (Chiefs) they got blown out. However, their offense is a steamroller, so as long as they don’t make dumb mistakes or turnovers they’ll be fine

As a 49er fan, if anything our system of having a great overall team and a complimentary piece as a QB could be the future moving forward for some teams. KC is the only team with a high price QB that continually makes deep playoff runs+SB appearances.

Eagles Fan here, I will give props to the 49ers they are an outstanding team on both sides of the ball but I still think Dallas is the biggest threat outside of the eagles. For the record..I am rooting for the kid. But any team that can play defense and challenge the guy offensively can beat this team. I think Eagles and Dallas have a solid chance. I'm excited to see how this plays out.
The disrespect to Philly with the betting odds saying they're one of the lowest-rated teams still in the playoffs is laughable imo. The only reason they LOST more than one game was Hurts being out & their defense getting tired because the offense couldn't keep them off the field to rest between drives. They would literally be 16-1 if Hurts hadn't gotten hurt. The most overrated team still in the playoffs is 100% the Cowboys - their wins are hollow & most of them are against garbage teams, bad teams, or teams that had serious injuries at key positions. Name one GOOD team they've beaten that was at full strength. You COULD say Tampa, in week 2, but Tampa proved they were actually not great at all.
Not knocking the 49ers in the slightest, just to put that out there. I think the 49ers are going to murder the Cowboys, and we're going to see 49ers Eagles in the NFC Championship game. The big test for whoever wins that will be how do they compare to the Bengals, Bills or Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

I mean he did play in some huge games in college and played for 4 years he isn’t a rookie qb that came in not knowing how to play qb like a lot of these rookies even mahomes said he couldn’t read a defense till his what 3-4th year in the league

Like Kirk said, Purdy has really changed the way I look at drafting QBs. Most people are still looking at physical attributes like 6'4"+, 220lbs+, big hand size, etc. No, what I have now realized is the amount of college-playing experience matters a lot. Purdy played 48 games in 4 years at Iowa State. The only other perhaps not rookie, a sophomore NFL player who had had such similar success as Purdy is another 9er, Colin Kaepernick. Kap played in even more games than Purdy, he played 51 games at Nevada. And we all know how Kap performed the moment Jim Harbaugh decided to start him over Alex Smith. The guy was literally killing it from the word go and took the 9ers to a Super Bowl in the same year. Just for the sake of comparison, in contrast, guess how many games did Trey Lance play at college? 19 games in 3 years partly thanks to COVID. That is a massive difference, that means Purdy played 29 more games than Lance. And it showed. The word coming out from 9ers' training camp was Trey Lance just didn't look good at all. That kind of explains it. And now that Purdy has played 7 NFL games including a playoff win and counting, how is Trey Lance ever going to be able to catch up especially if he can't beat out Purdy to start in the next training camp? I guess we will see in due course, but one thing for sure, I know Kyle Shanahan will never throw games just to develop a QB.

No they’re not, they can be beat and get overconfident especially with how the media is portraying them. Plus Purdy is a rookie and you can’t rely on a rookie to have you go far
The Eagles don't look like the toughest. They barely beat a backup squad Giants and don't forget they barely beat a terrible Colts team. The Eagles are built around one guy.

I’m honestly baffled at how well purdy is playing. I watched him at Iowa state and he simply didn’t seem that good. I always like him but I saw him be inaccurate and even not come through under pressure. I’m very happy for him I just do not understand how he’s playing better in the nfl then in college
The system thing is overused. The 49ers are just super talented including QB. And they are seasoned. This squad minus has made 2 deep runs together. Now going on a 3rd.

Cowboys have to have a Colts/Vikings type game against the 49ers if they are gonna beat them. Dak played amazing against the bucs but he needs to be even better than that against the 49ers. I firmly believe the Cowboys Defense can hold enough against the 49ers to keep it close but Dak and that offense has to keep pace.

You act like Purdy has won 3 Superbowls already. He has played mediocre teams like Seattle.. Though hes done great so did Copper Rush up until he met a real pass rush. Same will happen here. But 49 ers may still win out PURDY will be exposed.

Wdym lol Dak had 4 tds, perfect vision and decision making. Honestly I expect to see a lot more of CeeDee Lamb. Not to mention, dallas is a run first team that will probably put up 100 and TD between Zeke and Pollard, and generate a turnover or two. Its not all on Dak, he just can't throw straight to the other team
