The hate for Purdy stems from Tom Brady PTSD lol
I don't think it does. Brady was hated but it was because he was hilariously good after 12 years of winning, and then deflategate. People got tired of seeing him win and found an excuse to vent. Purdy just arrived. Why people glaze mahomes and lamar with abysmally worse seasons? Guys joke the way he dresses while he earns 800k for beating Micah Parsons and whatever else comes into sight? I can't understand it too.
Another one I can't understand: why people still think almost unanimously Kelce is better than Kittle while he literally is not? Yesterday people were showing half-4ssed block replays from Kelce against DBs like it was something amazing while freaking Brandon Aiyuk blocks DBs with better technique and Kittle just a couple of hours later pancakes Hutch like he was a kid. It's PTSD too? Kelce is a big WR with an amazing experienced QB, and this season he didn't got 1k even being pretty much the only target mahomes had while Purdy is still proving himself and Kittle got his 1k while blocking like a madman for cmc. Like ????? Kelce is great don't get me wrong but come on. Kittle is the most complete TE maybe ever.
Purdy shows how incompetent and unqualified allot of scouts and sports journalists are so they hate him.
Purdy has gotten a lot better but he’s still not elite or top 15 dudes got two top 10 receivers with arguable the best tight end, great offensive line

Long time 49ers fan since 89. I think he's the best qb we've had since young. To fair though they said the same about Jimmy G. I liked Jimmy G but I definitely can do without an interception every game.

Purdy did what he needed to do to win. Some players shrink in the moment when others shine. Niners defense said it best after the game when they said they don’t win those last two games without Purdy stepping up in the moments that mattered. Two NFC Championship appearances and one Super Bowl appearance in just his second year. So many more talented QB’s would’ve choked even with all that Niner talent.
Josh Allen don't get this crap, and he never took his team to a Superbowl.

All you need to know about what Purdy's teammates think of him is listening to the Mic'd up audio from last year's NFC Championship game. When Fred Warner and Kittle hear that he's hurt, you can hear it in their voices that they know they're cooked.
As a Patriots fan, Purdy reminds me a lot of a young Tom Brady. People said the same things about Brady when he took over for Bledsoe as well as the subsequent years. Now obviously Purdy has an enormous hill to climb to even be considered in the same breath at Brady, but he's in a good system with a good team and a good coach and he's playing well.

Steve Slowik deserves a bonus for scouting out Brock Purdy at Iowa State. By the way, Purdy took his team to 4 bowl games.
It was Brian Greise and Klay Kubiak who evaluated Purdy and recommended drafting him.

Scouts deserve a lot of credit for digging management out of the hole (the Trey Lance trade). Not sure what SF would do if they hadn't drafted Purdy. Thing about the highly rated QBs is that they keep drafting from the best college teams - perhaps they need to look at how good a team was before the QB got there and how they did with him. Purdy had the 5th highest completion percentage his senior year, and he played on a mid to bottom tier Big 12 team.

He is one of the worst performing qbs of the post season. Stafford and Mayfield did so much better against the lions than purdy. Also the Cowboys scored more against the packers than the 49ers did and everyone talks about how bad the cowboys were that game.

The fact that Brock isn't having a sophomore slump, is the best thing in all of this. He continued right along with his success from last year,before the injury. In my humblest opinion, I think you should at least give a quarterback 4 years to learn a system. So to me, next season is a very huge year for Brock. If he can sustain this play for the entirety of the season, the world and the league will begin to take him serious.
All I kept hearing last year is defenses will adjust from all the tape on Purdy and he will not have as much success as he did in his first year. Clearly all of this people didn’t know what they were talking about 😂

At the end of last season, I wondered if Brock Purdy was for real. Then I paid very close attention this year, & I’ve concluded since the game after the 3 game losing streak, that he bounces back & he’s really really good. I like Brock Purdy a lot & im glad he’s on the 49ers.
For real. I needed to see how he was going to bounce back after Minn and Cinni. The adversity Brock has overcome is impressive.

If he throws a pick he comes right back like it didnt happen and throws dimes. Its amazing to watch. All the ppl hating would love if purdy was on his team. Now we just need shannan to start off stronger. That 1st and ten in the red zone and kyle calls a pass😂. Kyle always calls that one play that leaves us scratching our head at the end of the game. TV media talking heads: Aiyuk catches a bounce ball off a defender's face mask, should have been a pick, Aiyuk got a miracle catch and Purdy got lucky. Lamar catches his own pass off a bounce ball, he's so good. Goff's thrown ball got stripped away from the defender's hands by his WR, the WR is so good. The Purdy hate continues. Next goal post: Brock can't do a somersault. More to come.

I gaurantee so many of them would change their tune if all the talking heads immediately 180 on him and call him great. But they won't do that even if he wins the SB unless he does it by throwing for 350 yards and 4 TD. If he throws for 250 with 2 TD or drives them into position for 3 TDs that are 1-2 yard runs for McCaffrey then they will still point to his lack of TDs, even if he gets them 80% of the way there on the drive. narratives die hard.

Pat's got it right. Purdy's a fantastic game manager. Other teams should be BEGGING Brock to leave SF to play for and "manage" their team. Cause he's one of the best in the league. No question.
I think every QB in the league would beg to have what Purdy has. The best running back in the game. The best left tackle in the game. One of the best tight ends in game. Two really good receivers that can be #1’s. A top 5 defense with Bosa, Young, Greenlaw and Warner. No other QB in the league can say they have those things. As bad as Jimmy Garoppolo has been in Las Vegas, getting benched, remember he went 5-0 as a Niner when he had those things. That’s why it’s hard for me to look at Purdy and definitively say that he’s the main reason they’re winning. He is A reason, but I think it has to do more with CMC and the defense. When you look at Mahomes and the Chiefs, what does he have? One of the best tight ends in Kielce, but who else? Pacheco? Rice? Tyreek Hill has been one of the best receivers in the league and since he left KC and Mahomes, they’ve won a SB and will be playing in another one. If CMC went down, would they still be a SB contender? I’m not sure that they would. You put Purdy on the Panthers, do they automatically become a SB contender?

I’ve heard from a number of commentators say the 49ers were lucky or undeserving in some form or another. The 49ers beat every single team in the NFC playoffs at some point this season. I don’t know how it could be anymore clear the 49ers are the rightful NFC representative.

When Jimmy G went down vs Miami, Purdy stepped in and did a nice, efficient job leading the Niners to a win over a playoff team. On his first start vs Tom Brady and the Bucs, it was obvious that this kid is special. He freakin' lit it up, I'll never forget that ridiculous deep ball to CMC in the corner of the end zone! 💪
But more than that, Purdy saved the 49ers franchise. The Trey Lance selection was a huge blunder and the Niners totally lucked out with having Purdy! 😅 I have to think that Shanahan and Lynch got their extensions due to Purdy's emergence. Otherwise, the Niners would still be looking for their franchise QB and probably watching the NFC Championship from home.
I think you're probably 100% right. Trey Lance was gonna doom us even if he didn't get injured. I watched an interview after they threw jimmy in when Lance got hurt and Juice said "it wasn't a tough transition going back to Jimmy because now we can go back to playing Niner football again." With Lance I think we were heading in a broken direction no matter what. Poor kid, but at least we got Purdy out of it.
@@19andrewhb92 - Lance went to the wrong team as a back up. He should have gone to the Ravens, Eagles, or Cards who have a stronger QB run option. Still wonder what the 49ers were thinking drafting a FCS QB with only one year of college experience with three first round picks. Can't help but play the what if game if they had drafted Mac Jones in their original spot. He might have turned out to be good enough and stayed on the field, preventing Purdy from never being drafted or getting early playtime if he was drafted.
Purdy comes from Iowa State and last pick in draft. He is kinda corny, clean cut, Christian guy…and not a flashy pick out of one of the top football college teams. He is not the image many people think he ought to be. Too bad. He does some great stuff on the field. Never gives up. And he Wins!

The Purdy hate honestly makes no sense to me. Last year, most media had nothing but praise for him doing what he's doing. He had to take over the team after Lance and Jimmy injuries and proved himself but it suddenly changed between last season and this season for what seems like no reason. It's like most media spokesmen collectively decided that Purdy is the guy to hate this year.
Cam Newton is the biggest reason. ESPN then backed it, along with essentially every other black analyst. They really want QBs to be anything other than white. Listen to how they talk about Burrow and Josh Allen (unquestionably elite QBs) vs how they talk about Lamar.
I blame Nick Wright. He's been saying it since week 1, and has constantly moved the goal posts when it comes to Purdy impressing him. He's done literally everything you could ask for in QB. I just hope you aren’t saying that people calling him a game manager is hate. Purdy is a Top 10 , Top 5 QB in the league already as the last pick in the 2022 Draft. Brock Purdy is a game manager, he manages the game and makes plays when he needs to. Does that sound so bad? I’d take a game manager every day over an exciting QB that can’t finish the game when they need to. Tom Brady was a game manager. Peyton Manning was a game manager. Drew Brees was a game manager. I really like a Brock Purdy even though he is not my team I wanted to see him in the superbowl last year but the game went down hill after he got injured. I originally was rooting for lions only because they have never been to a superbowl but when the 49ers tied the game I was all 49ers and I said 49ers deserve it more especially with the talent Brock has showed. I am also a fins fan and 49ers trained our coach and Brock was a Dolphins fan before being drafted to the 49ers. I hope

Dudes been a baller, winning at the highest levels since 10th grade. Kyle’s had lots of QBs attempt to “manage” the team. Brock is the first to execute how the coach envisions it. I think his build and looks like a normal everyday person fools people. That’s a damn disguise. There’s a killer under that mask!

Yes, the difference between Brock Purdy and Jimmy G is that Purdy can actually manage a game well and know what to do in certain situations. He knows when he has to make plays or not. Idk why people act like being a game manager is bad bro. If thats the case then Tom Brady sucks but he doesn’t. Tom Brady is the greatest QB of all time from being a game manager. Idk why there is this expectation that you have to make 360 passes and throw for an 80 yard touchdown to be considered a good QB. I’d rather take a game manager who can drive down the field and know how fast to go than an athletic QB who makes unnecessary risks in a game. You can even consider Patrick Mahomes a game manager AT SOME POINTS OF THE GAME like when the game is on the line or they need to get points to stay in the game. He makes smart decisions and stays calm under pressure.
