Excellent commentary on a stunningly beautiful and emotionally heart-wrenching cover. Mitch’s face on “look right through me” just bores a hole through my soul every time.
Grades 1 thru 5 were very tough for me. i got picked on everyday because i was over weight and taller then the other kids. i am now 65 years old and if i really think about it, i can still feel those hurt emotions
Your reaction to "Mad World" was beautiful. It is one of my favorite Pentatonix covers/videos. Thank you. They made an amazing arrangement and paired the members singing perfectly. I never knew how much I needed to hear Matt and Mitch sing together until this song. The original artists of the song is the band named Tears For Fears. Gary Jules made an incredible cover and changed the tone of the song from the original version.
About to mention this and then saw your comment. Really liked the Gary Jules version, quite different to the original, however I grew up listening to Songs from the Big Chair and The Hurting so prefer the original.
I heard this song one week before I entered a medical detox facility for getting off pain medication after 30 plus years of using them. It definitely helped me thru the most difficult time of my life. I was so sick from withdrawals for months after that, and their music helped me to heal!!! I can feel their emotions the same way as you described. Very powerful reaction!!!
Glad you are better. Music is definitely healing and i also experienced that while going through alcohol withdrawals. The music was just there to comfort me. Thanks so much for sharing your experience.
I recently lost my father and about to lose my mother and facing mortality in your life puts a new perspective on the goings on around you and in the world. This song resonates with me literally because it is a mad world out there and you see the same things over and over again and they do lose their luster and appeal until the end comes. It's the one thing we will all have to face eventually.
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your father and that you are facing it with your mother. 😢 I lost my Father about 3 years ago, I live with my 85 year old mother and I consider it a privilege to be able to do so. I was close to all 4 of my grandparents and even a great grandmother until I was 16 years old but there is nothing compared to losing your parents. Things made more sense with the illusion of safety with your parents always being around and when that goes away, I found the world to be slightly more chaotic and Mad? I spend a lot of time with my daughter teaching her that life does go on and I expect hers to go on one day when she faces this. Equip your children with the strength to deal with loss, otherwise it is more difficult than it ever should be. My thoughts are with you and your family and may you find peace. T ✌🏻
Sorry for your loss. And you described it beautifully, that feeling and emotion about the world and mortality has been on my mind recently. Sending lots of love and strength.
🎼🐎🐎🐎🐎 ... this is a stunner Saeed. I have listened to it many times, and it always stirs many emotions evey time. Thanks for sharing this moment with us. 🐎🐎🐎🐎🎼
Hello Saeed, Thanks for the reaction. Pentatonix really knows how to feel a song. The A Capella arrangement is almost haunting. Pentatonix are master artists.
To top it all off, they released this during covid, right around the time we, or at least I, realized that there was no end in sight and it felt like the world was going crazy. PTX really got me through.
This was released during the Covid summer of 2020. One of the two perfect songs they released that year. Really speaks to isolation and the anger that seems to have increased in our society. The other one being Thank You.
I believe this song can resonate with anyone & this is such a stunningly beautiful version. I agree with you about bullies... especially today's bullies. It's so easy to tear someone not just down but apart when you're anonymous. These days, that's mostly how it's done. I will say that in my youth, back when there were no cell phones & no one had the Internet yet...my being bullied made me tougher. I don't condone it at all but, being teased or picked on for me, made me stand up for myself. I will also say that the things that were said to me may have hurt at the time but they were silly, simple "insults". I have no clue what others have gone through or how awful it was for them. Everyone has their own experience. I guess I just wish we could go back to when, if you wanted to insult, tease or bully someone, you had to do it to their face & see what happens.
Tears for Fears did this song back in the day, and it was "poppy-er" which now seems weird, because as usual PTX took it turned it on its head and made it so much better! I love K.O.'s beatboxing talent, but when these guys just do a song in various harmonies from all 5, its special. Love this upgrade.
Happy Mother’s Day in the USA anyway, give the mother’s in your life a hug from me? Is that weird, it sounds weird but where would we all be without the good and strong mother’s?!?! 🤔 T ✌🏻
The pain of being bullied never leaves your psyche and that's what's speaking to you now. This type of song brings it to the forefront but reminds us that we can move past it.

Very powerful. Really hit home. Thanks for watching! Have a great day.

My daughter (and husband) were in exactly your situation. I don’t think the feelings from those years ever completely go away. 😢
We carry that with us our entire lives. Thanks for being here ❤️
I have no words to explain how much this resonates in my soul. A spectacular cover.
Beautiful and powerful ❤️

Thanks so much for the kind words. I need to go back and listen to the original.
Thank you for connecting to and reaching out to others through understanding and compassion.
Thanks for being here 🙏🏽❤️
Great to see you back to PTX.
❤️❤️
You almost need to watch "Sing" or their 90's medley, afterwards, since this is so sad. Both will get you dancing around and singing.
I did those! Should be in the Pentatonix reactions playlist. These definitely brighten up my day.

Love this song and their rendition of it! The video is so amazing with the ghost echo images behind them.
I’ve loved this song since it came out in 1982 by Tears for Fears. This PTX version is just gorgeous and so emotional, I’m glad you thought so, too!
Beautiful rendition of a powerful song. Thanks for watching.
It's always been a beautifully dark masterpiece... It plucked every chord...
100%. Hits home.
I believe Mitch looks right into my soul.

I definitely get that point and i am the same way. I wouldnt take it away. Made me who i am.
Now as a parent its just frightening to think about.
Love the intensity on display in this one. Nice
Powerful rendition of this song. Thanks for watching. Have a wonderful day.
What a great reaction! I always enjoy your takes, but today it seemed like you were talking right to me. Thank you for this channel.
Thank you, my friend! I am grateful that you are here ❤️
They posted this during Covid when no one was in a good place. That made it resonate even more. Incredible song choice for the times.
Love the Mitch/Matt harmonies.
Recommend their cover of Seasons Of Love (PBS version).😊
I cried with you. 🤘🏼😳
They always do a great job conveying the emotion of a song. Love this!
Saeed, great reaction, this song slaps you in the face!
It really does. Thanks for watching.

It was Mother's day here too and We had a great sunny day, had lunch together with the family. Beautiful. Shoutout to all mothers!
Thanks Saeed! Glad PTX performed the "darker" Jules version, rather than the Tears for Fears original. I never really got the tempo in the original. ☮
Thanks so much for watching. Love this rendition.
I love the fact that you are so sensitive …. This is what music does….
A moving rendition of an iconic song. Very powerful.

Now recommending "Mad World - Bass Singers Cover ft. Elliott Robinson", available on The Bass Gang channel. Do you know them? If not, you should :)
I have heard of them, but not familiar with their music. Will add this one to my list. Thank you!
Have you ever heard the original from TEARS FOR FEARS - 1982?
